PRODUCT REVIEW: LESS IS MORE - PREMIUM ORGANIC HAIRCARE FROM ZIANI BEAUTY

Less is More…perfectly describes how I generally live. I prefer a single piece of good chocolate over a lot of inferior quality, one pair of quality shoes, top etc, that I’ll love for years to come, over a bunch of crappy quality pieces I’ll only wear for one season.. but Less is more, is also a premium organic hair and bodycare brand, which is now available from the amazing online beauty store Ziani Beauty.

Less is More comes from Vienna, and is made exclusively from 100% organic plant-based active agents including plant oils, phyto extracts, essential oils, blossom waters, Mascobado cane sugar, honey, beeswax, lecithin, spirit of wine and glycerine, coming from organic farms, which prioritise the sustainable use of resources, and keeping the environmental footprint is thus kept as low as possible. Seriously, what’s not to love. But there’s more, the products are also free from all the chemical nasties including synthetic preservatives, fragrances, dyes and polymers; silicones and paraffins, petrochemicals, PEG and PPG, parabens, sulfates, glycols, phthalates etc., and they are not tested on animals.

Thanks to Ziani Beauty, I’ve put a selection of their products to the test;

Let’s start with the Less is More Mallowsmooth Shampoo and Conditioner, which are intended for dry, thick and brittle hair, and is an intensively moisturising range that gently cares for the hair, while also protecting hair colour from fading. The key ingredients in both products are Rosehip, mallow and coconut oils, and the shampoo is using the mildest lathering agent from Coconut oil, sugar and amino acids, to gently cleanse the hair from styling residues and environmental toxins, while caring for the hair and scalp.The conditioner is an intensive treatment for thick, dry, thick or brittle hair, and it aims to smooth the hair structure, adding moisture to the hair thanks to the bio-active, virgin plant oils and phyto extracts.

After washing my hair with these products, my hair feels so lovely. It is clean, without feeling squeaky clean or stripped for moisture, and the conditioner leaves my hair feeling so silky soft and smooth, and without weighing my hair down or making it look greasy. I also love that the conditioner can be used as both a conditioner or a hair mask, so if you feel your hair needs a little extra TLC, you can simply leave it in the hair a little longer.

Both products have the most gorgeous natural scent from the 100% organic essential oils from Palmarosa, Ylang Ylang, Rose Geranium, Orange and Mandarin.

Then there's the Less is More Herbal Tonic, which is a tonic designed to clarify, refresh and soothe the scalp and alleviate any scalp irritation. This leave in treatment is suitable for all hair types, and contains among others neem extract, which can help with skin problems including dandruff, Calendula extract to nourish and calm, Nettle extract to help with flaking and greasy hair, Birch extract, to stimulate the hair roots and help prevent hair loss, Melissa extract, which has anti-bacterial, calming and resistance-strengthening effects. It also contains Horsetail extract to strengthen the hair from the root, tone the scalp and harmonise sebum production. Finally, it also contains essences from rosemary and lavender giving it a gorgeous scent, and while having a reliving and invigorating feel.

I don’t, thankfully, suffer with dandruff or even irritated scalp, so I cannot speak of how this treatment works on that, however, I do like how it is still very calming and soothing on the scalp, and tat it works to stimulate my hair and prevent hair loss. That is obviously one thing that is difficult to directly measure the effect off, but I have definitely noticed that my hair seems to be getting less greasy, so I feel that I can stretch hair washes another day or two, which is not only time saving when you have long thick hair like I do, but that in itself is also much better for the hair.

Finally, there’s the Less is More Angelroot Volume Spray, which is a styling spray intended to help create maximum volume without weighing down the hair, giving extra strength and body and also adding a healthy dose of shine. With my long thick hair, I am pretty used to flat hair, and have tried just about anything to give it a little more body, but not much helps. So was excited to try this Angelroot Spray it contains among others beet sugar to give the hair volume, strong hold and add moisture, polyglucoside to detangle the hair, Forest honey to moisturise and nourish the hair and scalp. It also contains essences from Angelica root, Lemon, and Melissa, to tone the scalp as well as brighten and uplift your mood.

The Angelroot Spray can be used in either towel dried hair to create more volume and definition, as you lift the hair with a hair brush as you blow dry it. Alternatively you can use it in dry hair as a finishing spray to add moisture and a little hold to your finished style.

Having so long thick hair, I didn’t expect this to give me dramatic volume, as my hair is simply too long and heavy for that, but I was actually pleasant surprised to see that it did give my hair some volume, all while also managing to make my hair stay put and control those annoying fly-aways around my face, and all without making my hair feel to stiff. I think this would work better as a volume spray for the with slightly less (and shorter) hair than I have, and then I can imagine it would work absolute wonders. But personally I really love using it as a finishing spray, as it makes my hair look and feel healthy and shiny, while keeping it under control. And as always, I cannot resist citrus scented products, so needless to say that I’ve immediately fallen for its fresh and zesty scent.

The less is More products come in simple clear plastic bottles with black labels, and I love that simplistic monochrome look.

And not surprisingly, I have really enjoyed using these products from Less is More. I love their philosophy, and the fact that there are no nasties in the products, and that the gorgeous scents are from natural essential oils. Yes, they are a little on the pricey side, but you can immediately tell that the products are of premium quality as they leave the hair look and feel silky soft and smooth, and very healthy and shiny - so if you're looking for some natural products, then I highly recommend that you check them out. I'll continue to enjoy these, and definitely look into trying more of their products in the future, also very keen to explore their body range.
