PRODUCT REVIEW // COVERGIRL X KATY PERRY KATY KAT HOT KAT AND COOL KAT EYESHADOW PALETTES

Whether you’re a cat lover or not, you got to admit that the latest collaboration between cosmetics brand Covergirl and Katy Perry is rather adorable. Just look at these Cat embossed eyeshadow palettes, which have been created for Katy's different looks, from natural to dramatic!

The Covergirl x Katy Perry Katy Kat Palette is available in two shade combinations, the Cool Kat and the Hot Kat. Each palette contains10 shades each. The shades have a soft slightly creamy consistency, and easy to apply. And considering these are available at drugstore prices, they are also fairly pigmented. 

For each of the palettes, the 10 shades are broken up into two halves, essentially giving you two different eye palettes, which on their own can give you a complete look, through you can of course mix and match across the full palette as you see fit. 

Let's start with the Covergirl x Katy Perry Katy Kat, Cool Kat Palette, which is the palette with the cool shades and for those who like to wear colour. It has a great combination of shades from pale pink, purple and mid shades, along with some darker shades in blue, green, plum and grey shades, and of course the Cat in the middle on each side, a shimmery dusty pink on the lift and a shimmer golden shade on the right. All the shades in this palette are shimmery. Personally I am quite conservative, so these shades and prefer neutral shades, but that said, there are still shades in this palette that I like, such as the olive green, grey and neutral shades along with the ‘cat features’ which still allow me to create a more subtle look. But if you are for colours, this palette has a new and unique colour combination which really sets it apart from anything else I’ve seen.

Then there’s the Covergirl x Katy Perry Katy Kat, Hot Kat Palette, which is the palette with the neutral shades, and thus right up mu alley. It simply contains every neutral shade you could want from pale highlight to a dark matte black to use for lining, and all shades in between from mauve, brown and dark chocolate, along with the ‘cat features’ of shimmery copper and rose gold. This palette several matte shades in a combination with a few shimmery and, which I quite like. 

This Hot combination is by far my preferred option, as I’d use ever single shade, and its a great everyday palette. Ok if you already have a love of neutral palettes in your collection, this palette probably doesn’t offer much new in terms of the shades, but if you’re just starting out in makeup, it is a great start. And besides, who can resist those adorable embossed cats.
