PRODUCT REVIEW // VELVET CONCEPTS CREME LIPSTICKS FROM STYLE PATISSERIE

As a beauty junkie, I love nothing more than coming across new beauty brands, and today I’ve got a new discovery to share with you - Velvet Concepts.

Velvet Concepts is a Australian brand, with all products made locally from the best clean and natural ingredients.

The brand has several different lip products in the range, as well as makeup brushes, and I’ve put some of the Crème Lipsticks to the test.

The Velvet Concepts Crème Lipsticks have just launched in five new beautiful, which mean that there are now a massive 26 different shades in that range.

The Crème Lipsticks are made with Manuka honey along with 20 edible oils, including, organ oil, apricot oil, lime oil, Kakadu plum seed oil, macadamia seed oil, sweet almond oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, to mention just a few - all of which help add intense hydration to the lips, while soothing and protecting the lips. It also means that the lipstick is so soft and creamy and simply feels nothing short of amazing on the lips, as if you’re wearing a lip balm.

I also love that the lipsticks are animal cruelty free, and also free from gluten, mineral oils and parabens.

The lipsticks also contain triple milled pure mineral pigments, which makes them very pigmented so that a single swipe gives a fully saturated and bold colour, with a lovely glossy shine. You can of course also decide to to just blot it on if you’re after just a touch of stain. But regardless, you’ll love the result and feel on the lips.

As they are so moisturising, it also means that they are not long-wearing, although, as they are so intensely pigmented, the wear is actually surprisingly long, especially the darker shades, and when these darker shades do wear off, the also leave a touch of tint behind on the lips, which still looks gorgeous, and very natural.

Five new shades in the range includes;

  • Lace - A delicate rose pink shade
  • Silk - a slightly darker medium pink shade - “your lips but better pink”
  • Chiffon - A dusty pale medium pink shade
  • Tartan - vibrant and classic red shade
  • Velour - a deeper and richer raspberry red shade

L-R: Lace, Silk, Chiffon, Tartan, Velour

As always, I tend to prefer darker and bolder shades over pale and nudes, and hence Lace would be my least favourite of this lineup, though it is a beautiful shade regardless and great for daily wear or to pair with a bold eye.

The Silk is has just got that touch more colour to make it help give your face a pop of colour. Chiffon is a dusty mauve-pink shade which is the perfect shade classical shade.

Finally, my two favourites, the Tartan is such a classic blue-tinged red shade, a shade that should be in every makeup collection, while Velour has touch of raspberry, making it a slightly more pinkish red shade.

But these new shades seriously are stunning, and every single shade is just gorgeous, and I already know that while the two red shades will remain my favourites, I will still be reaching for the other shades too.

The lipsticks come in stunning heavy duty packaging that feels and looks luxurious, not least thanks the stunning blue and gold colour and the magnetic closure.

I really love these lipsticks and so excited about coming across the brand. The colours are beautiful, the feel amazing on the lips, thanks to all the lip-loving natural oils, they’re paraben and cruelty free, and Aussie made and owned. Really doesn’t get much better.
