The other week I was so lucky to be invited to a wellness event with cosmetics brand IT Cosmetics, which was absolutely amazing with a makeup masterclass with the brand’s National Education Manager, Josie Houlihan, followed by pilates (which I sadly couldn’t participate in due to hip injury), and followed by the most amazing brunch.

KIDS BOOK REVIEW: WHITEBEARD BY M.C.D ETHERIDGE

My big almost 6 year old only started prep at school at the beginning of this year, and he is so loving learning to read, recognising words, and cannot stop spelling words he sees, anywhere he goes. And as a mum, I really love that. He has such an appetite for learning and he so cannot wait till he can read full books.

Can you believe it, Easter is just around the corner. A quarter of the year gone already. Feels we’ve barely gotten rid of the last leftovers of Chrissy snacks, and we’re loading up again! And as all kids, my two boys couldn’t be any more excited.

PRODUCT REVIEW: MUSTELA SOOTHING SKINCARE FOR BABIES AND KIDS WITH VERY SENSITIVE SKIN

My two little boys are very blonde and fair, and have sadly both inherited their father’s dry and sensitive skin. But worst is our 3 year old. At one point he was admitted to the Children’s Hospital as he developed a bad rash all over his body. But thankfully it disappeared as quickly as it came, with no real explanation. We have however been told that his slightly rough and dry skin can be a result of his medical treatment, including all the chemo and steroids that he received in the lead up to his bone marrow transplant three years ago. And therefore, finding the correct skincare for both of them, but especially for the 3 year old is so important. We have tried a lot of different brands, and always make sure to select gentle, products, but what made a tremendous difference, was the day we started using the Mustela range for very sensitive skin.

PRODUCT REVIEW: THE ULTIMATE TREATMENTS FOR BREAKOUT PRONE COMBINATION AND OILY SKIN - HYDRA JELLY MOISTURE SHOT, DETOX AROMATIQUE AND CREME INTEX NO. 2

Today I am going to talk about some products I’ve put to the test recently from Ella Bache..

The products I've been using include;

Ella Bache Hydra Jelly Moisture Shot*
Ella Bache Detox Aromatique Extra Purifying Corrector Serum*
Ella Bache Detox Aromatique Extra Mattyfying Cream*
Ella Bache Creme Intex No. 2

Let’s start with the Ella Bache Hydra Jelly Moisture Shot, which is also one of the newer product launches.

During the summer months, my combination skin is always getting a little greasier, and this Hydra Jelly Moisture Shot is absolutely perfect under those circumstances, as it helps balance oily skin by stabilising the natural oil production, while providing 24 hour hydration.

Often very hydrating moisturisers are not ideal for my blemish prone skin, feeling thick and heavy, but not this one, as its name suggest, it has a clear jelly formula. It feels so super light and refreshing on the skin, and absorbs immediately without any greasiness, yet still giving the skin intense hydration throughout the day, leaving my skin soft, smooth and looking dewy and fresh.

It contains among others Vitamin B5 from lentil, watermelon and apple to intensely hydrate the skin and help to smooth it out. It is designed for all skin types, to be used morning and/or night, but naturally, its lightness means that it is just perfect for those with oilier skin types, but for everyone else, you can use a serum underneath and a moisturiser on top for even more moisture.

I absolutely love this light moisturiser, it gives my skin what it needs without clogging it up, and is perfect under makeup too!

Then there’s the Ella Bache Detox Aromatique Extra Purifying Corrector Serum, which is a purifying blemish correcting serum designed acne prone skins with blemishes such as microcysts or spots.

It helps reduce the appearance of blemishes and absorbs excess sebum day after day. It contains an active component of Grapefruit Seeds, Salicylic Acid, and 16 aromatic extracts to help regulate sebum, soothe the skin and reduce clogging of pores. It also has anti-bacterial action to help reduce shine, smooth skin texture, and even the skin tone while also make pores appear smaller and accelerate the clearing of blemishes. It can be used both morning and evening, as a corrective course treatment for one to two months to repeat during the year as needed, or as a preventative course treatment to avoid any break-out, and it can be used daily, once in the morning and in the evening after cleansing. It has a very light watery consistency, and absorbs quickly into the skin without stickiness.
It’ve been using it more as a spot treatment daily to help fight some deeper lying blemishes that I’ve been struggling with for quite some time, and I am convinced that it has help finally clear these up.

I have been using this Corrector Serum in combination with the Ella Bache Detox Aromatique Extra Mattyfying Cream, which is another super light moisturiser that that is designed to help prevent breakouts and absorbs excess sebum. Like the serum, it contains the purifying Grapefruit Seeds and16 aromatic extracts to help to reduce the appearance of blemishes, prevents breakouts and absorbs excess sebum.

Again, I really like this moisturiser as it is so light on my skin, and helps add needed moisture while also helping to control excess sebum and shine, while also helping to purify my skin and keep it clearer.

At night I’ve also been using the Ella Bache Creme Intex No. 2 (which I now believe is called Breakout Treatment Cream), which is an antibacterial treatment cream to help clear up breakouts. It contains zinc oxide and talc to absorb excess oil and thyme oil, along with fletan oil which is rich in vitamins A and D, and it has antiseptic and astringent qualities, along with healing agents to help soothe breakouts, but it can also be used to help clear up ingrown hairs.

The cream has a slightly odd scent that I cannot say that I am fond of, and as the formula is quite rich and is slight slightly waxy, also leaving the skin a tad greasy. It does go onto the skin with a with a slight white residue, especially if you use too much, so with the greasiness and the cast, I sadly don’t find it so ideal to wear during the day (even under makeup) as it is recommended that it can be, but in my opinion this is best kept for overnight.

That said, I do like how concentrated it is that you only need to use so little. Also, often blemish treatments can be quite harsh and drying on the skin, and I do quite like that this one isn’t irritating my skin.

I’ve had a few deeper lying breakouts that I’ve been struggling with, and my usual blemish treatment left my skin a little flakey, but the without the pimple budging. But once I started using this at nigh time, breakouts did start to reduce in size and without further appearance, so definitely a handy one to keep in the beauty cabinet for emergencies.

Overall a great selection of products for those of us with greasier skin and prone to breakouts, and with my current hormonal breakouts, my top picks would be the Detox Aromatique serum and cream, but as we head toward winter and my skin tends to become a little drier and needing a little extra, I’ll certainly continue to reach for the Hydra Jelly Moisture Shot for an extra boost of moisture.

Ella Bache Hydra Jelly Moisture Shot - RRP: $89 / 50ml
Ella Bache Detox Aromatique Extra Purifying Corrector Serum - RRP: $85 / 30ml
Ella Bache Detox Aromatique Extra Mattyfying Cream - RRP: $75 / 50ml
Ella Bache Creme Intex No. 2 (= Breakout Treatment Cream) - RRP: $49 / 30ml

PRODUCT REVIEW: COCOBARE BABY SKINCARE

My two little boys have unfortunately taken from their dad, and have very sensitive skin. So while there’s a multitude of different kids skincare on the shelves, sadly we cannot just use anything on them. But we’ve recently put some products from CocoBare Baby to the test.
