What I Say:
I have previously used one of the Australis Colour Inject Mineral Lipsticks, which I absolutely love, so I was very excited to be trying the Pout Pastes, as well as I had very high expectations.
Lately I have seen a lot of positive reviews about the Australis Pout Pastes – many saying they are a cheaper alternative to the OCC Lip Tars. But while I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Lip Tars, I have still to try them for myself, and well, consequently I can’t really comment on that!
The Pout Pastes are a new highly pigmented lip stain – way more pigmented than a gloss, and too creamy to be a lipstick, it is literally like a liquid or fluid lipstick! They are enriched with antioxidants to help prevent premature ageing, and claim to be non-sticky and moisturising to the lips.
The Pout Pastes come in a small squeezable plastic tube but with a little doe foot/wand applicator, which makes it easy to apply without making too much of a mess. They have a lovely but gentle fruity scent, which I quite like.
The Pout Pastes come in three shades:
Pash Me Pink: a vivid redish-pink, similar to a cerise pink
Berry Nice Kiss: a dark magenta coloured purple
Love Bites: a Bright red
According to the instructions on the back of the tube, you can apply a thin layer for a lipstick-like shine, or more layers for a full-on pout. In saying that, I found that even just a small coat gave my lips more than sufficient colour and there was no need to build up the colour further.
The Pout Paste is comfortable to wear, and does feel very moisturising on the lips. And like most lip glosses, they do fade, but it take a few hours (without eating or drinking), although before then, I did notice that it had started to bleed a little outside the lip line, and it wasn’t as glossy and shiny as when first applied. But due to the highly pigmented formula, the colour is still very noticeable on the lips. And as with any other gloss, it does transfer onto glasses when you drink, and hence disappear quicker.
All in all these Pout Pastes are fantastic products, perfect when you want to wear a lipgloss, but prefer a little more colour. And at just $12.95 they are fantastic value too!
The only negative I have about these Pout Pastes from Australis, is the fact that they only come in three colours. It would be lovely if they came in a wider selection of colours, to suit everyone’s taste, but hopefully with the many good reviews of them, more colours will be introduced in the near future.
