TOY REVIEW: POINTY PEMBLETON VISITS THE DOG PARK BY NAT PANZARINO - GREYHOUND RESCUE

Our two little boys absolutely love their books and reading, and one of the things they love the when we sit down a read stories. And as we all love dogs (and have two Labradors ourselves), needless to say that there was excitement when the book, Pointy Pembleton Visits the Dog Park landed on my desk...

The book, Pointy Pembleton Visits the Dog Park is a book inspired about a real-life rescue greyhound Zac, or "Zacarella Pembleton" (who has sadly now passed away). The fun loving book, features the friendly Pembleton as he visits the dog park and explores themes of diversity, inclusion and how to be accepting of others, as he tries to make new friends, which can at times be very tricky.

"Pointy Pembleton, the new dog in the park is looking for friends to play, splash and bark! Will he make some new buddies and go for a run? Or will there be something that ruins his fun..."

The hardcover book is of high quality and it has cute watercolour illustrations throughout and is written with a fun rhyme, and has been such a great story to read in particular for our 4year old who has just started in Kindergarten, and for the first time in his life is not with his mummy, but have to try to fit in, make new friends and really start to learn that everyone is different, but that being different is fine, and you can still be friends, play and have fun together.

The book is written by Nat Panzarino, an English and Visual Arts teacher, and mother to two kids and two greyhounds, who is also a volunteer Greyhound Rescue. She has also adopted several greyhounds, the first of which was Zac, the inspiration behind Pointy Pembleton. The illustrations in the book are by Fer Wicker, a graphic designer and artist who also volunteers for Greyhound Rescue.

We have already read the book more times than we can count, and he absolutely loves it.

I love the fact that this book is not just a story, but it is teaching him an important lesson of friendship and diversity, in such a cute and fun way, - and all while supporting such a great cause.

Greyhounds are bred to be used by the racing industry, and when they aren’t fast enough or they can no longer win races, they’re discarded, with most killed. And just how cruel is this. And until this changes, more there will be far more greyhounds needing homes than there are adoptive families.

Greyhound Rescue is one of many fabulous organisations in Australia working to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home these gorgeous dogs - and I love that $5 from every book sold goes to Greyhound Rescue to help this cause.

If you're kids love a good book - then this one is one to read, while supporting the gorgeous greyhounds at the same time.
