Product Review: Dr. LeWinn’s Skin Perfect Anti-Ageing Pressed Powder

Having combination skin, especially during summer, it doesn’t take long from I apply my makeup before my face starts to shine – and that is when I rely on a good powder. Here are my thoughts on the *Dr. LeWinn’s Skin Perfect Anti-Ageing Pressed Powder;

What They Say:
Achieve a flawless complexion instantly with this creamy press powder. Glides on silky smooth covering wrinkles, enlarged pores and blemishes. This semi-matte powder is long wearing, leaving skin feeling hydrated and smooth.

RRP: $39.95 (7g) – Available from Priceline and Select Pharmacies

What I Say:

I recently reviewed the Dr. Lewinn’s Skin Perfect Anti-ageing Foundation, as well as the Skin Perfect Anti-Ageing Illuminiser and primer from the same and absolutely loved both, so I had high hopes for the pressed powder as well.

The Skin Perfect makeup range uses a combination of three key ingredients to help leave you with smoother, softer, and wrinkle-free skin.
First, the products contain stem cells from alpine rose, which have been shown to renew and stimulate the skin. It also contains the peptide Matrixyl®Synthe’6™, which has been clinically proven to enhance skin collagen. And finally, the products also contain tourmaline, known for its ability to boost skin radiance. Combined these three ingredients give you some very powerful anti-ageing products. And when you start seeing the fine lines around the eyes, you realise that it is time to do something about it immediately, so the sound of the Dr. Lewinn’s Skin Perfect products really do sound fantastic, promising to works on your wrinkles while covering imperfections.

The pressed powder is has a semi-matte finish and simply glides onto the skin leaving it with a velvety light finish and a skin that looks unbelievably smooth.

It gives light to medium coverage without looking powdery or highlighting lines, and I love that it does not settle into fine lines on the face. It can be applied onto foundation to finish and set for longer wear – which is mainly how I have been using it, as with a combination skin it also helps stop my makeup from being too shiny and sliding off my face at lunchtime. In fact, using the powder on top of my foundation has extended the wear of my makeup by several hours, although on the very hot and humid days, I still need to touch-up by the afternoon.

However, the pressed powder can also be applied directly onto primer to achieve a light and more natural looking make-up look the leaves skin looking smooth and radiant, although you can still build up the coverage a little. But regardless of how it is used, it is very long wearing, and simply leaves the skin looking fantastic with a healthy and natural glow. And I love the fact that when I remove my makeup at night, it really has also been caring for my ageing skin!

The actual powder is only available in two colours, Pink Beige and Honey Beige. I am using the honey beige, which matches my medium beige skin tone perfectly. But considering the Skin Perfect foundation is available in six colours, it would be lovely if more colours were also available in the powder to suit more skin tones.

The pressed powder comes in a dark brown bronze coloured round compact. It has a handy mirror in the lid, and underneath the powder there is room to store the round sponge that comes with the powder. And while I think that it is great that it comes with a sponge, which makes it easier to touch you your face on the go during the day, I must admit that I do prefer to use the powder with one of my own brushes, as I simply find that I get a much nicer and more even result.

The only other negative I have about this pressed powder is the scent of the product. The primer and the foundation from the same range both have a lovely but gentle scent, but the powder on the other hand has a strange scent, which makes me think that it is out of date – which I know that it is clearly not seeing it has only just recently been launched. However, even so, this smell luckily does disappear once applied.

All in all, I still feel that this is a fantastic powder, and I really love that it also contains anti-ageing ingredients as well as SPF15, along with the fact that it doesn’t settle into fine lines on my face, but rather it leaves my skin looking healthy and glowing!

Have you tried any of the products from the DR. Lewinn’s Skin Perfect range? What do you look for in make-up products? What do you think of make-up products that have anti-ageing benefits too?

  1. Not happy with the skin perfecting pressed powder, I used the sponge and when I wiped the compact with the sponge no powder was even picked up, I think I may have a bad batch or something.

    1. That sounds really strange, mine is just not like that at all, although I still prefer to use a powder brush.
