THE ULTIMATE AT-HOME PAMPERING WITH MEDIK8 ULTIMATE RECOVERY BIO-CELLULOSE ZINC MASK // PRODUCT REVIEW

If you tune into the BLH regularly, you will know that one of my favourite brands is Medik8, for the pure reason that their products are so efficient and actually do what they promise. Today I am excited to share with you one of their newest launches, the Medik8 Ultimate Recovery Bio-Cellulose Zinc Mask.

This deeply soothing and nourishing sheet mask was initially intended for post-treatment use for professionals for using before and after many electrical and light therapies including such as LED, laser, IPL and microdermabrasion, or if someone experience discomfort following a facial treatment, as it has an immediate cooling and soothing effect on the skin, and is designed to help speed up the healing process post a treatment. However, now the masks are available for home use, which is amazing.

The sheet mask is made from tightly woven, bio-cellulose fibres to provide optimum adhesion to the skin. Like most sheet masks, it can be a little tricky to get onto the skin, but once you’ve got it on, it is absolutely worth it.

The mask contains among others;

  • Zinc to provide a barrier over wounds and promote mineral healing with antibacterial properties. It also helps to regulate oil production and the skin's enzyme balance.
  • Bio Cellulose - the tightly woven, micro-thin natural fibres which easily sit in fine lines and wrinkles to allow for optimum adhesion and delivery of actives while allowing the skin to breathe.
  • Hyaluronic Acid - a humectant which draws water from the atmosphere to the skin, enhancing its ability to hold water and leave skin feeling hydrated and plump.
  • Norwegian Kelp/Rockweed Algae, which is a species of brown algae with a high mineral content, moisturisation benefits and antioxidant activity.

Having skin with combination skin prone to breakout, yet a skin that is ageing too, I love that these masks contain the zinc as it really makes them perfect for my skin type too, with its antibacterial properties and as it helps to promote healing, regulate oil production. But I also love that it contains the hyaluronic acid and algae to help restore and add intense hydration to my skin.

Immediately as you pop on the mask you can feel the lovely cooling feeling, and after using one for just 15 minutes, the skin feels so refreshed and rejuvenated that it is literally glowing. I am not sure that I can tell any difference in the amount of breakouts or how fast they are heeling after using the masks weekly (there are 6 single use masks in the pack), but I can however tell that after use, the added hydration is making my skin look more plump, and hence the fine lines on my face do appear less visible.

These masks are also perfect to use on a hot summers day if you feel your skin is a little over heated, or you’ve perhaps spent too long in the sun - I’ve actually tried to pop one in the fridge for an hour before use, which made it even more refreshing on the skin. It would also be perfect to use a special occasion as it makes the skin look so radiant. I also love that they are free from alcohol and fragrances, so they are also suitable for those with sensitive skin too.
