Summer time, to me means bare feet and sandals, and nothing looks worse than neglected hands, feet and nails, so today I’m going to talk a little about some of pampering products for hands and feet that I’ve been enjoying lately..
My feet always get horribly dry during summer. I have no idea why, perhaps because I am often barefoot inside running around on our polished concrete floor. I am not sure, but I do know that dry feel both feel and look horrible. But thankfully there’s the Scholl Velvet Smooth Wet & Dry Foot File. This cool pedicure device helps remove hard skin from the feet, thanks to the dual-speed roller that quickly and effortlessly buffs away all dead and hard skin, leaving your feel so soft and smooth. It is easy to charge, and recharge with the charging station, and I love that it is cordless, as it makes it so much easier to use. I also love that it is waterproof so that it can be used both wet and dry, meaning it is safe to use in the shower or bath. Once you’ve gotten rid of all the dead skin cells, the feet need a good dose of moisture, and personally I love doing that at night as I watch TV, and once done, I put on an old pair of socks so the cream can really absorb into the skin (and stop me from leaving greasy foot prints throughout the house!). Another reason I like to do it at night is that I don’t like putting too greasy greasy feet into my shoes, so doing it at night seems like the perfect time.
I love the Burt's Bees Peppermint Foot Lotion, because it has a lovely cooling and refreshing feeling on tired feet, and the fresh scent is just gorgeous. I also love that the lotion is made from 100% natural ingredients, including menthol, witch hazel and peppermint and parsley oils, along with Tea tree oil, rosemary leaf extract and sodium bicarbonate deodorise feet to prevent odour. The added sunflower oil and beeswax helps add some much needed moisture levels in the skin, and help soften dry skin and calluses. If you’re after a refreshing treatment, this one is for you. An alternative is the DU’IT Foot & Heel Balm PLUS, which is a triple action formula, enriched with antimicrobial properties that help heal very dry, rough, cracked and irritated skin. The formula contains 25 per cent urea to effectively rehydrate, soften and protect the skin, while the AHAs help exfoliate and remove dead skin cells and vitamin E helps fortify the skin and guard the skin against premature ageing. The super-hydrating formula provides a barrier to protect any loss of the skin’s natural oils, ensuring the skin is nourished, rejuvenated and soft. This Balm is seriously effective, and it really lives up to its promise and controls visible results to even the most serious case of dry and cracked skin on the feet in just 5 days. You do have to be persistent though, and apply it 2-3 times daily for the first week for maximum results, but once you’re happy, you can reduce the application to when needed. I have only been using it at night (again to avoid greasy floors and shoes), but I am still amazed at the results, which no doubt is due to the added AHAs. And let’s not forget the hands. Personally, with a toddler in nappies, I wash my hands so many times during the day, so I do rely on a good hand cream. When my hands need a little extra, after for instance a weekend of gardening, I rely on the Burts Bees Hand Salve. This thick salve comes in a tin, and I love that it is also 100% natural and made from botanical oils, herbs and beeswax, which also gives it a lovely natural and subtle herbal scent, which is suitable for both him and her. The salve is a little greasy and does take some time to absorb into the skin, so its not one to use during the day, or you may leave greasy hand prints everywhere, but I like to use it just before ie. gardening for a ‘protective film’ on my skin, and again at night before going to bed, so it can do its magic while I sleep. From DU’IT there is also the Tough Hands for Her, which is also an intensive-strength cream that has been designed to repair, hydrate and protect dry, rough, calloused, and irritated hands. This cream can also be used as a protection prior to ie. gardening, and it is easy to apply and absorbs quicker into the hands without any greasiness, which I really like, as it means I can use it throughout the day too. It is enriched with vitamin E and sweet almond milk to add moisture and restore. I also love that it contains both lactic acid and salicylic acid to help gently exfoliate dry and cracked skin, and restore skin radiance and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. To remove any old nail polish, I love the Sally Hansen Nail Polish Remover. This nail polish remove is formulated with pro-vitamin B5, Vitamin and Hydrolyzed wheat protein to help fortify and improve soft, thin and weak nails to help them get stronger and more healthy looking. It does contain acetone, and used on a soaked cotton pad, it quickly and easily removes all nail polish, while still being gentle on the nails or drying them out. Nothing beats freshly painted nails. And gone are the days where you have to colour match finger and toe nails, so I love to mix it up a little, by paining my finger nails a different shade to those of my toes, or even doing a single nail on each hand or foot in a different shade, however, while still keeping all in the same colour group.
And with the huge colour range from Sally Hansen, you can do exactly what you want thanks to all their different types of nail polishes and shades. I am currently loving the pinkish shades on my nails, as they look amazing on summer tanned skin.

The Sally Hansen Miracle Gel is a part lacquer, part gel manicure system that provides long-lasting shine and colour.
