I was recently introduced to Beautopia Hair & Beauty which is an Australian company selling a large range of premium hair and beauty products, both online, and through their stores. And I was quite excited when they reached out and offered that I could try some of the products available in their store.
I decided that I would love to try some products from Pixi Beauty - which is one of those beauty brands everyone’s raving about, and for some reason, I’ve only ever tried a few of their products, so I naturally jumped at the opportunity, beyond excited to put some more products to the test.
Pixi Beauty is a UK brand, that was launched over 15 years ago by makeup artist & product developer Petra Strand in the flagship boutique in Soho, London. Since then, the brand has achieved a worldwide following, thanks to the innovative formulations that are infused with botanicals and beneficial ingredients, making them multitasking, flaw-fixing, youth-enhancing products for women on-the-go with no time to spare.
I tried the following;
- Pixi Skintreats Glow Tonic
- Pixi Skintreats Glow Mud Cleanser
- Pixi Skintreats Glow Peel Pads
Let’s start with the Pixi Skintreats Glow Tonic, which is the product that I’ve most excited about and had on my wish list to try try for so long. It contains 5% Glycolic Acid to help not just sweet away impurities, but also help renew the skin by giving it a gentle exfoliation lifting away the dead skin cells, and also helping to brighten and fade pigmentation.
I admit that in recent times I have been skipped using a toner, not sure why, as I do like the feeling and results - but since getting this, I’ve gotten addicted to using it morning and evening after cleansing, and before serum and moisturiser. Often glycolic toners irritate or dry out the skin, or they sting, but not this one as it is free from alcohol, it feels rather gentle on the skin.
It also contains ginseng to help improve circulation and energise, along with aloe vera to soothes and hydrate.
It leaves the skin feeling so soft and smooth, and with an immediate radiant glow. Not wonder where it got its name. Since using it, I have also felt that it has helped clear up my skin, reducing oiliness in the t-zone area and consequently reducing the amount of breakouts I’ve been getting. And when using in the morning, I also feel that it leaves my skin with a better base for makeup, leaving it looking better, and shine-free for longer. I will definitely be repurchasing this Glow Tonic again and again.
Then there’s the Pixi Skintreats Glow Mud Cleanser, which is a purifying mud cleanser designed to cleanse the pores and renew the skin. It contains 5% glycolic acid, along with aloe vera to give the skin a deep clean in every pore, and help detoxify, absorbing.
I’ve been using this cleanser as my second cleanse in the evening, and in the mornings, and I love the combination of the clay with the glycolic acid, as it helps absorb the excess grease that clogs up the pores, while the glycolic acid helps gently exfoliate the skin and remove the dead skin cells - and all without stripping the skin, but rather it is quite gentle and soothing too, thanks to contain the aloe Vera.
To use, you simply massage a small amount into damp skin for about 30 seconds before rinsing it off - but I’ve also found it is great to leave on the skin for the two minutes while I brush my teeth before rinsing it off, as I find it gives my skin an even more intensive clean.
And after each use, and with continued frequent use, I find that my skin is left clearer and more mattified, feeling so soft and smooth and with a nice glow. I’ll definitely be purchasing this one again too!
Finally, there’s the Pixi Skintreats Glow Peel Pads, which are exfoliating pads infused with 20% glycolic acid, for an intensive exfoliation to reveal a brighter, more radiant and energised skin. The pads also contain rose extracts to help soothe and hydrate, and witch hazel to help clarify and control breakouts, while Aloe Vera and Gingko Biloba helps hydrate and nourish the skin, and Licorice Root brightens and evens the skin tone.
To use, you simply take one pad and wipe it over the clean, makeup-free dry face, neck and décolleté (and top of your hands), and leave it on for 2-3 minutes before rinsing it off with cold water to neutralise the peel. You can use it once a day, or a few times a week as needed.
The first time I felt a slight tingling sensation, especially when wiping over current blemishes, but nothing that was too irritating, and it disappears rather quickly. And I immediately love the results, as they really do leave the skin feeling so incredible soft and smooth, and with a nice glow. My skin also appears more clarified and less greasy.
As for my breakouts, I have found that the ones I had, cleared up a lot faster, but daily use has also helped de-congest my skin, and dramatically clear it up, even areas where I’ve been fighting breakouts for months, such as on my chin and cheek bones. Yes, I still get breakouts, but they are no longer as big or aggressive, and as a bonus, my skin is more even and radiant, to the point I’m feeling more confident in my skin without having to wear makeup.
I’ve tried other similar peel pads, but most are more expensive, and actually not as efficient, either not as strong in formulation, or they make my skin dry or irritated, so if you ask me, they’re a great buy, so I’ll definitely be repurchasing these again and make sure I never run out, as they’re a lifesaver for my blemish prone skin!
