I was recently introduced to Beautopia Hair & Beauty which is an Australian company selling a large range of premium hair and beauty products, both online, and through their stores. And I was quite excited when they reached out and offered that I could try some of the products available in their store.

PRODUCT REVIEW: GARNIER SKINACTIVE PURE ACTIVE INTENSE 3 IN 1 CHARCOAL ANTI-BLACKHEAD WASH, SCRUB AND MASK
I've always struggled with my skin, and even today where blemish products should be a thing of my past, they are sadly not. But sometimes fining the time to properly pamper my skin with facials and masks, can be a tricky when you have two small toddlers. So when the PureActive Intense 3 in 1 Charcoal Anti-Blackhead Wash, Scrub and Mask from Garnier SkinActive landed on my desk, I was naturally excited.
PureActive Intense 3 in 1 Charcoal Anti-Blackhead Wash, Scrub and Mask promises an intense and very deep clean of the pores to help reduce even the most resistant blackheads and prevent their appearance. Now I don't actually really suffer with black heads, but rather general breakouts, but still I've found this cleanser useful.
It can be used as a gentle and daily wash to help purify the skin and remove dirt and impurities thanks to containing salicylic acid. But it can also be used as a scrub as it contains natural exfoliating particles to help unclog pores and hence prevent the skin from becoming congested and black heads and breakouts from occurring in the first place. Finally, it can also be used as a mask. It has been enriched with charcoal which is an absorbent ingredient that soaks up all excess oil and impurities in the pores, to help neutralise shine and keep the skin soft and smooth, while the added blueberry extract helps keep the skin more balanced. Used as a mask, it just needs to be left on the skin for about 5 minutes to work its magic.
I like to use the dark grey cleanser when I'm in the shower and wash my hair - after I've washed my hair and am waiting for my conditioner or hair treatment to soak in, I apply a thin layer to my damp skin on my face, and leave it on as I scrub my body or shave my legs or armpits. And just before I start rinsing my hair, I start gently massaging the mask, to rinse it off, while I let the gentle particles exfoliate my skin at the same time. And then I can simply wash it all off as I rinse my hair. Speak about multi-tasking!
And I love how this is a multi-tasking product, and works as a mask too by being left on the skin, and it is gentle enough for everyday use. And after use, my skin is left soft and clear, and without being dried out or irritated. And I am convinced that frequent use of this will not only help my skin be less greasy but also help control the amount of breakouts that I get.
So all in all I find that this is a brilliant product that does exactly what it promises, and on top, its pretty budget friendly too. I'll definitely be repurchasing this one again and again!

FATHER'S DAY GIFT IDEA: RITUALS SAMURAI MEN'S SKINCARE COLLECTION
Today I've got a few more great Father's Day gift ideas to share with you, these ones from Ritual... My husband is luckily not afraid to use grooming products (lucky when he's married to an obsessed beauty blogger!), and I have caught him over the years using my products, until I realised that it was worthwhile making sure he had his own so he would leave mine alone!
That said, he does enjoy a quick routine, although he still frequently use a face wash and scrub. The Rituals Samurai Face Scrub & Wash, is a foaming 2-in-1 wash and scrub that has been enriched with purifying properties of Japanese Wakame, Bamboo as well as exfoliating scrubbing particles to remove dead skin cells and excess oil, dirt and grime from the skin.
Sometimes my husband complains that facial scrubs seem to do little for his skin (usually when he has pinched a squirt one of my gentle ones) , but he has said that he is impressed with this one, as it grainy but without being to harsh on the skin, and it clearly makes his face feel so much softer, smoother and brighter when he has used it. While he is blessed with really good skin, he does suffer with some blackheads on his nose, but since starting to use this scrub a few times a week, these have clearly reduced in appearance and quantity. He also loves that it has a nice masculine scent.
He has also really enjoyed using the Rituals Samurai Refreshing After Shave Gel with Basil and Tiger Grass, as shaving his face ever morning seems to have a drying effect on his face, and he found that this After Shave Gel has helped add moisture back into the skin, and relieve any dryness and irritation from shaving.
He also really likes the scent, which is totally different to anything else he has in his (growing) aftershave collection, as it does not appear to be a man-made scent, but rather a natural, fresh, and spicy masculine scent, that lingers on the skin for the day.
The Face Scrub & Wash come in grey tube, while the After Shave Gel comes in grey glass bottle with a timber lid, making both look very stunning with their simple, yet masculine design.
Overall my hubby is really impressed with these products from Ritual, so can definitely recommend that you check them out, and they're the perfect gift for Father's Day too!

PRODUCT REVIEW: INDERMICA 360 CLARIFYING FOAMING WASH AND BRIGHTENING CREAM
I love it when I come across new brands, so was naturally excited when I was given the opportunity to try some products from the brand Indermica 360, so today I'll be talking about the Indermica 360 Clarifying Foaming Wash and the Brightening Cream.
First, let me tell you a little about Indermica 360. The brand is that believes in using a combination of patent-pending natural ingredients blended with cutting-edge performance compounds can bridge the gap between science and nature, to create products that can help gently return the skin to a young healthy glow. This is done by a comprehensive and scientific process of layering molecules to prepare, correct, and protect damaged and aging skin.
The Indermica 360 Clarifying Foaming Wash is a gentle and soap-free gel cleanser that removes make-up and impurities without drying out the skin. The cleanser is suited for all skin types from normal to oily, so it is hence it is perfectly suited to my combination skin.
The key ingredients in the cleanser are;
- Aloe Barbadensis Leaf enhances dermal absorption and acts as a carrying agent. Is used for sunburn, dry skin, chapping and many other skin conditions
- Hyaluronic Acid is a humectant, which allows environmental moisture to be drawn to the skin.
- Green Tea Leaf Extract is a powerful antioxidant.
- Clover Flower Extract is useful as a stimulant, astringent, and purifier.
- Comfrey Leaf Extract is an anti-inflammatory and a cell proliferator.
- Burdock Root Extract is a tonic that restores smoothness to the skin. It is moisturizing and may have skin restorative properties.
- Dandelion Root Extract is an old remedy for skin ailment and is prized for it’s cleansing properties.
- Calendula Flower Extract reduces puffiness, wrinkles, anti-seborrheic, is stimulating, is an astringent, restorative to the skin, and can be incorporated into slimming formulations.
- Chamomilla Flower Extract is used to reduce puffiness on the surface of the skin.
After use it leaves my skin feeling clear from impurities, smooth and soft, and without any of tightness. The Cleanser comes in an easy to use pump bottle and has a gentle floral scent.
The Indermica 360 Brightening Cream is a skin brightener and correcting cream that is designed to help suppress hormonal pigmentation and lighten and brighten aging, dull skin. The cream is designed with powerful ingredients to instantly regulate and diminish the appearance of dark spots, improve hydration, and helps prevent and protect damage caused by UV radiation.
Some of the key ingredients are;
- Aloe Barbadensis Leaf enhances dermal absorption and acts as a carrying agent. Is used for sunburn, dry skin, chapping, and many other skin conditions.
- SulforaWhite antagonizes binding of Alpha-MSH to its receptor, inhibiting melanin formation.
- Garden Crest Sprouts Extract exhibits a strong whitening effect.
- Licorice Root Extract strengthens the immune system.
- Daisy Flower Extract helps restore inflamed and irritated skin.
- Maritima Extract is a lightening agent.
- Hyaluronic Acid is a humectant, which allows environmental moisture to be drawn to the skin.
- Vitamin E prevents tissue breakdown and acts as an antioxidant that protects various tissues from free radical damage.
The cream is intended to be used both morning and night, and is intended for all skin types. It has a nice delicate floral scent, but I find that it is very subtle, so it shouldn't offend anyone. The cream also comes in a handy pump bottle and it has a very light, almost serum consistency - and it consequently absorbs super fast into the skin, without any residue. The cream is intended for all skin types, but because it is so lightweight I find that it is particularly good for my combination skin, and can only imagine that it will be good for oilier skin types too.
The cream is to be used on face, neck and décolleté both morning and night, after serum - and again it works great for my skin, providing more than sufficient moisture, but I have to say that I am not sure if it would be sufficient and heavy enough for those with dry skin.
After using for a while, I have noticed that my skin is feeling soft, and it has a nice healthy and radiant glow to it, but as such, which may very well be from my skin getting more even in tone and pigmentation minimising in appearance, but this is of course always a tricky one to measure. Regardless, I like how this moisturiser makes my skin look and feel, and with its ability to inhibit melanin formation, maybe I can actually head towards spring and summer this year without increasing pigmentation, which will be a welcome change.
Overall some great products, which I certainly wouldn't hesitate recommending, and definitely would consider repurchasing, as well as I'd be keen to explore further products from their range, including serum. .

PRODUCT REVIEW: BLISS PEELING GROOVY FACIAL SERUM, FABULOUS FOAMING FACE WASH AND PORE PERFECTING FACIAL POLISH
Bliss is one of those brands I've heard so many good things about, but just never gotten around to try, so I was pretty excited when the Fabulous Foaming Face Wash, Pore Perfecting Facial Polish and the newly launched Peeling Groovy Facial Serum landed at my door step.
First up is the Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash which is a 2-in-1 cleanser and exfoliator. This cleanser is oil-free so it is the perfect choice for combination and blemish prone skin like mine. It contains rose hip extract, milk thistle, passion flower and chamomile that helps re-balance the skin, provide healing and antiseptic properties, calm and soothe the skin, all while retaining moisture or strip it from essential oils. The blue thin gel has a beautiful gentle fruity fragrance.
The Cleanser is intended to also be used as a makeup remover, but due to the exfoliating beads, I admit to preferring it as my second cleanser after all my makeup has been removed, as it gives my skin a more thorough and deep cleanse.
The actual exfoliating beads are every so tiny, and made from soft, round synthetic spheres, and you almost don't realise that they are there, which also means that they are so gentle on the skin - but once rinsed off, you can tell that they've worked their magic as the skin feels so incredibly soft and smooth.
I really enjoy using this cleanser, and the fact that it is so gentle that I can still use it daily, without irritating my skin.
Next up is the Bliss Peeling Groovy Facial Serum that promises to gently exfoliate the skin's texture while you sleep, reducing large pores, fine lines and dark sun spots, breakouts and other unevenness, making it brighter and more even.
The serum does not contain AHA's which are known to often irritate sensitive skin types, but rather it uses With moisture-magnetising amino acid exfoliators to gently exfoliate the skin, and it also contains Vitamin C to strengthens collagen, brightens, tightens, and lightens the skin, as well as diminish the appearance of fine lines.
The serum is can be used every night after you've cleansed your face, and hereafter you need to wait 3-5 minutes before applying your usual night cream.
The actual serum is rather thin, and just a few pumps is therefore more than sufficient for the full face as it spreads so easily too.
I have to admit having used stronger and more potent cosmeceutical products, so I was a little curious as to how this one would perform - but I was pleasantly surprised. After just a few uses, I started noticing my skin looking and feeling softer and smoother, and especially some recent darker marks from blemishes fading. I also noticed that my skin appeared to become less and less greasy and a few blemishes seemed to fade and vanish a lot quicker than they otherwise would have.
So while I admit to using an actual gritty facial exfoliator, there is no denying that a chemical one like this one, is equally efficient - as in a few short days it did start to make my skin softer and more refined and with a nice healthy glow. It also seems to be less greasy and simply clearer, and as a result, it also meant that I felt that my makeup not only applied easier, but it also stayed put for longer. And all while still being very gentle and not irritating the skin!
Finally, the Bliss Pore Perfecting Facial Polish, which contains micro-granules to gently polish the skin and buff away dead skin cells, cleaning deep down every pore to remove any excess oils, dirt and grime. Due to the tiny scrubbing particles, this scrub is very gentle, and hence suitable for all skin types. While being gentle, I however, still only recommend using it a few times a week to avoid over-exfoliation of the skin. And as promised, it does indeed leave the skin feeling clean, soft and smooth, and my skin does seem less greasy and more refined after use, without being irritated or left feeling dry. And as always once you've exfoliated the skin, it is looking healthier and more glowing.
All in all, I am really impressed with these two products from Bliss, and I certainly wouldn't mind checking out the rest of their range, including their hand and body products!

BEST BARGAIN BEAUTY BUDGET BUYS - JANUARY 2015
After Xmas, and then followed by the Boxing Day Sales, most people are a little strapped for cash in January, I know I am! So I thought it was time for the first post on Best Budget Beauty Buys for the year;
Sunsilk Addictive Brilliant Shine Shampoo & Conditioner*
This shampoo and conditioner has been infused with a blend of 5 natural oils, including pearl extract and rich vitamin oils to deeply nourish the hair fibres and activate the hair’s natural shine properties to leave it shinier than you’ve ever seen it, yet without weighing it down. The products are a co-creation made with Jamal Hammadi and come in very girly bright pink bottles, and have the most stunning fresh fruity scent. The products are very concentrated so they will last you forever!
RRP: each, $4.79 (200ml), $6.29 (400ml), $10.99 (750ml) – Available from supermarkets, pharmacies, Variety stores and Priceline.
Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion Honey Indulgence*
When I am in a hurry in the mornings (mostly because my little toddler boy wants me to hurry when I’m in the shower, I just cannot go past this In-shower Body Lotion. It is used after your regular shower gel, and then you quickly apply it all over the body before rinsing it off. And once you are out of the shower and dried, your skin is so soft and smooth that you can completely skip applying body lotion. Saves so much time as you can in turn get dressed immediately. There are a few different versions available, but this newest one contains honey to deeply moisturiser sin for 24+ hours, so it is perfect even the driest of skins. And thanks to the honey contents, it smells divine too!
RRP: $6.49 (250ml) – Available from supermarkets, pharmacies, Variety stores and Priceline.
Pantene PRO-V Dry Shampoo*
Having long thick hair, washing and drying my hair takes forever, and with a toddler, that is time I often haven’t got. Once I washed my hair daily, but over the last two years I have ‘trained’ my hair to get used to only being washed ever two to three days. Even so it doesn’t really look greasy any more (as it once did on day two), but still, if I go out on a day I don’t wash it, I still like to freshen it up a little by using dry shampoo, and these new options from Pantene are absolutely brilliant. The Volume Booster is also designed to both help absorb excess oil, while also helping to increase volume in the hair. The Original Fresh Dry Shampoo, on the other hand, also absorbs oil, but isn’t specifically designed to add volume, but I feel that it still is, as most other dry shampoos. It has a lovely fresh scent, so of the two that is my preferred option.
RRP: $9.99 (140g) each – Available from Supermarkets, Pharmacies, Variety Stores and Priceline
Schick Intuition Pure Nourishment Shaver*
I don’t normally have dry skin on my legs, but for some reason during summer, the skin does tend to become drier. Not sure why, maybe because I shave a bit more frequently seeing I wear dresses and skirts! And while I do admit to loving my trusted epilator, I do at times like to use a good old-fashioned shaver, especially when I am in a hurry as well as I always use on under my arms. And this Pure Nourishment Shaver from Schick comes with a thick moisturising bar infused with almond oil and coconut milk that not only means that you don’t have to use shaving cream, but it moisturises the skin while you use it, so you avoid razor burns. As it has four blades it is quick and easy to use and you only have to go over the area once for a close shave without any cuts. The actual design is a little larger than most other shavers, but I like that it sits well in the hand and is not too flimsy, so as it also has a rubber grip on the sides, you don’t risk dropping it.
RRP: $12.69 (kit with shaver, caddy, and two blades) – Available from Supermarkets, variety stores and select pharmacies
Impulse Perfume Sprays*
I always wear perfume. Well, that’s not quite true, now that I am pregnant I am trying not to wear it as much as I know it is full of chemicals that I really should avoid, so I am saving it for special occasions. When I am home, or simply just going grocery shopping, I’d like to go for something slightly lighter than a strong Eau de Parfum, such as the newly launched Perfume in an Aerosol Sprays from Impulse. There are a total of nine different scents in the range, so there is something for everyone. I have tried Illusions, Romantic Spark and Merely Musk. Illusions contains rose and sandalwood and has a light fresh scent, while Romantic Spark has a warmer floral scent thanks to containing earth woods and wild violets, while finally Merely Musk contains lime and sandalwood making it a fresh but warm scent as well. Of the three, Illusions is definitely my favourite, being the lightest and freshest scent of the three. The slimline spray cans have a nifty twist closure lid so you don’t have to fear that it will spray into your handbag, and they all have a surprising staying power, thanks to being created by the world-renowned fragrance expert, Ann Gottleib, who is among other behind some luxe scents including Calvin Klein’s Eternity and Obsession, Marc Jacobs and Christian Dior’s J’Adore – funnily enough all favourites of mine, and perfumes that I have in my collection, and have repurchased numerous times. These Impulse Perfume Scents are an amazing bargain buy!
RRP: $4.95 (75g) - Available from Pharmacies and Priceline
Dove Pink Anti-Perspirant Deodorant*
This little gem not only works to keep you dry all day, even on the hottest and most humid day, but it also contains Dove’s usual ¼ moisturiser so it cares for your underarms at the same time. It dries quickly, and has a beautiful powdery floral scent which is however still so gentle and subtle that it won’t clash with any perfume. And what’s even better is that buying one of these, means that you also help support National Breast Cancer Foundation, and in my opinion there is no better cause, so I always make sure to stock up on these!
RRP: $3.89 (50ml) – Available from Pharmacies, Supermarkets and Priceline
DermaSukin Daily Hydrating Wash and Daily Gentle Wash*
Being pregnant means that unfortunately some skincare ingredients are totally off limits, as they can potentially harm the unborn baby. Some of these ingredients are salicylic acid, which are present in the majority of blemish products – so suddenly not being able to use those, is not the greatest when you’ve always had blemish prone skin, and to top it off, your skin suddenly goes bonkers with raging hormones. But what I’ve learnt over the years is that nothing beats a gentle cleanser, and the Hydrating Wash and Daily Gentle Wash from DermaSukin are brilliant options. They are both soap and fragrance free, and are sulphate and paraben free too so they are perfect for even the most sensitive skin types. And as they are soap free they can both be used both with and without water. With water I love using them with my Clairsonic, and without water you can simply remove any excess with a dry clean cloth. Simply too easy. The hydrating Wash contains among others aloe vera and calendula to help keep the skin hydrated, while the Daily Gentle Wash contains aloe vera, cucumber, and chamomile and is designed to cleanse the skin without stripping it of its natural oils.
RRP: $8.95 (250ml) each – Available from Select Pharmacies
EcoTools Pure Complexion Deep Cleansing Facial Sponge*
When I feel like my skin needs a gentle deep clean, I cannot go past this Konjac Sponge which is handmade from 100 percent natural ingredients, including Konjac vegetable fibre and bamboo charcoal. When dry, it looks more like a pumice stone, but don’t be fooled, once soaked in water, it turns soft and fluffy, so you can wipe it over your skin to help wash away dirt, makeup and dead skin cells, all without irritating the skin, causing any redness or drying it out, rather it leaves your skin soft, smooth and glowing thanks to the gentle exfoliation I gives at the same time. And the best thing is that you can keep using it again and again over a period of one to three months before it needs to be replaced.
RRP: $14.99 – Available from the Beauty Office
*Product was kindly provided for consideration, and has reviewed in accordance with my Disclosure Policy.
So there you go, a selection of amazing products that are not only very effective, but also very kind on the bank account!
Have you tried any of these products? Which products do you turn to when the budget is tight?

PRODUCT REVIEW: L'OREAL MEN EXPERT VITA LIFT GIFT SET
It has been quite a while since I have had my dear hubby guest posting on my blog, and he has had his review due for me for quite some time. Way too long actually, but between moving house and him starting a new job too, I guess he has had a pretty good excuse! Anyway, here are his thoughts;

What He Says:
I was asked by my lovely wife if I would try another couple of products for her, I again thought here we go I am a guinea pig for something. The best part was she gave me the L’Oreal Men Expert products which I am more than familiar with.
I will admit I do try to look after my skin but with the demands of the morning rush I do not always do everything that I probably should, I will shave and for me washing my face is normally something that happens in the shower not a morning ritual like some, I try to catch up on these duties on the weekend.
So this morning I went about giving my face a good wash using the Revitalising Foam, this was a new product for me and I was pleased with how it felt on the skin, it was refreshing and being a man that unfortunately has a few blackheads and other blemishes on my face I feel long term use of this would help eliminate these for me, so maybe I will have to find myself the extra couple of minutes in the morning and change my ritual. The foam goes on easily and rubs in well without any real fragrance to irritate a sensitive nose. I felt it washed off easily and my face did feel clean with no greasy after effects.
The Shaving Gel is great and I really like using it. I have to admit I prefer a gel over cream and this one spreads well and lathers up nicely and I definitely feel it helps the razor blades glide over the face. I tend to like a shaving gel that spreads easily and has enough hold to stay on my face and fall either on me or into the sink. It has a light fragrance which I find a fresh smell and one that does not want to fight against any aftershave I use.
The third part of the pack was the Vita Lift 5 which is an Anti-Ageing Action and is supposedly to assist with Wrinkles, Dryness, Sagging, Puffiness and Dullness. I have used this for the past three or so years now off and on and I love it, I really like the bottle it comes in as the does you get from a simple push on the top seems to be just right per application.
I have also tried to cut one of these open at one stage (with great difficulty) when empty thinking there will be plenty left over and to my surprise there was nothing, the bottle is so well designed it empties completely. Seeing I am nearing the large round birthday I have quite a few wrinkles and I would have to say they have not gone from using the Vita Lift, maybe they have slowed along with the sagging, puffiness and dullness, I honestly cannot say I feel this has been a huge benefit, but when we talk dryness I would have to say this is the best cream I have ever used. It covers well, it is non greasy and certainly leaves my face feeling refreshed and with no sign of a dry bit of skin. The Vita Lift is certainly a moisturizer I always keep in the shaving cabinet and especially when I travel for work and have to put up with the air-conditioned environments that suck the moisture from my face.

PRODUCT REVIEW: LUST HAVE IT SEPTEMBER 2014
Another subscription box that arrived while I was away on holidays was the September *Lust Have It box arrived, so again, slightly delayed, here are my thoughts;
This is a nail art pen that as well as containing a glittery gold nail polish, also contains some large silver and gold glittery flecks as well as 10 different stencils. I am not personally fond of the gold shade or the glittery, but I do love the stencils, so I will definitely have to try them out. But in general this is such a great idea for clumsy girls like me that has absolutely no idea when it comes to nail art!

As per pervious months, this month the goodies again arrived in a pink see-through mesh bag. Unfortunately it didn’t contain the information card, which I always find extremely useful, so I do miss having it. Anyway, these are the products in bag;

ModelCo Lip lacquer Liquid Lipstick in Fire Red – Full Size
This is a
combination of a lipstick and a lipgloss. It has some serious pigmentation
packing a big punch with its bright red shade, yet it is lovely and glossy. And
it has a gorgeous fruity scent too. I am not normally wearing such bright
shades, but I have already tried it out, and love it. And I love that it really
does have a long wear, and when it starts to fade, it still leaves a nice red
stain behind on the lips. And if you don’t want the intense colour, you can
also just dab it on for a nice stained look.
A new brand I have
never heard of before, and it is Australian made and owned, which I always
love. YAY! This body balm contains minerals of calsium and magnesium and
enriching coriander oil and smells absolutely divine. It has a lovely light
consistency that absorbs quickly into the skin leaving it feeling velvety
smooth and soft.
There was also a
card included giving you free shipping and 20% of your next order, and I am so
in love with that cream that I can definitely see myself checking that out…
This highlighter
comes in the shape of a lipgloss, even with the angled opening to make applying
easier. It is slightly thick, yet it does blend out nice and evenly, leaving a
nice and subtle sheen on the skin. My only issue is that the slightly gold
shade could have been a little lighter to match my skin tone, but give it a
month or so, and I will probably start having a bit of a summer than, so it
should be fine. I look forward to testing this one out!
I have not tried
many products from Uriage so I do look forward to trying out this cleanser,
even in spite of not having sensitive skin, so it doesn’t really match my skin
type. My only issue is that the sample is so small, if you are supposed to also
be able to use it on your body, you can hardly wash yourself with it, that’s
how small it is.
Finally there were
also four samples of ModelCo’s newly launched skincare range. The samples
include Exfoliating Cream Facial Scrub, Instant Miracle Booster Skin
Brightening & Firming Serum, Double Sided Facial Wipes, and Soothing
Moisturiser Day & Night. I am generally a little over sachet samples, and
would naturally have preferred to see a larger sample or two, so you can try
the products for a few go’s, but on the other hand, guess the sachet samples
allow you try a few more of the new products. Regardless, I do look forward to
trying out these out.
So there you go,
the contents in the September issue. Overall, I am sadly not extremely
impressed. I do like the inclusion of in particular the ModelCo Lip Lacquer and
understand that regular subscrbers have been able to pick their preferred
shade, which certainly is a great bonus. Also I like the Body Balm from Urban
Skincare Co., but sadly other than that, I am a little underwhelmed with the
other products, although in terms of value it still makes up for the $20 spend.
Fingers crossed next month’s box will make up for it.

FATHER'S DAY GIFT IDEAS 2014
Are you fed up with your other half using your precious
skincare products, using way more product than they should and having no
respect of the cost and value of your products? Well, with just a week left
until Father’s Day I thought that I’d give you another handful of gift ideas
for products he can call his own..
I prefer my hubby to be clean shaven, and luckily he does
too. And this shaving gel, as promised gives him a very close shave. The gel is
best used on wet skin and it takes just a little to froth it up to a soft foam
that instantly softens any stubble making it easy for the razor to do its job.
It is so gentle that it doesn’t irritate the skin, and it doesn’t dry it out, rather it keeps the skins soft and moisturised. It contains African whitewood extract that helps prevent the skin from shining, and it has a nice yet gentle and not too overbearing masculine scent.

It contains African whitewood extract that helps prevent the skin from shining, and it has a nice yet gentle and not too overbearing masculine scent.
This shampoo is an everyday shampoo that has been
specifically designed to cater for men’s hair issues. It gently cleanses the
hair, removing all hairstyling products, while targeting oily scalp issues –
all without drying out the hair or the scalp. The shampoo is concentrated so it
only takes a little, and it leaves the hair soft and shiny. And it has such a
lovely masculine scent that once he has tried it and smelt it, he won’t
guaranteed never want to use your shampoo ever again.
RRP: $32 (250ml) – Available from select Salons
They may not want to admit it, but making sure that their hair
stays put all where they want it, is important. The Everyday Hold Gel can be
used in both dry and damp hair, and styles both short and mid-length hair,
giving it strong hold with definition and a wet look while still leaving the
hair flexible, and not feeling stiff or crusty, and with a nice shine too. And
unlike other gels, it doesn’t ‘ooze’, so it doesn’t leave his forehead feeling
greasy. It comes in a handy pump bottle, and like the shampoo, it has a nice
masculine scent that remains in the hair.
RRP: $33.50 (100ml) – Available from select salons
If he is more for a medium hold using a paste, you cannot go
past this one from Rusk. It has a fibrous texture that makes it easy to
manipulate the hair into even the craziest hairstyle. The coconut scented paste
can be used in both wet and dry hair and comes in an easy to use tube.
And because it remains pliable, he can continuously reshape his hair throughout the day.

If your man wants to do some serious hairstyling, then this
Putty from Rusk will answer his prayer. The putty adds both volume, texture,
definition and control to the hair all day long, all while keeping it flexible
and without any stiffness, and without flaking during the day.
The milky-white paste has a thick consistency and is easy to dig out of the plastic tub. It leaves the hair with a matte look.

This face wash offers more than any other face wash. It is a
ten in one formula that cleanses the skin leaving it feeling cool and
refreshed. And thanks to containing salicylic acid, menthol and volcanic mid,
it cleanses deep down every pore offering oil control, preventing and reducing
acne and clears breakouts, tightens pores, prevents white and black heads, and
evens out the skin tone – all while being so gentle that he can use it once or
twice a day.

PRODUCT REVIEW: NATIVE BOX CLASSIC JULY 2014
Hard to believe
that yet another month has passed and we are in fact already half way through
the year! Not sure how I feel about technically being 6 months older, but on
the positive I do like that there is now only just over a month left of winter.
Anyway, end of the month also means arrival of the subscription boxes, and today
I’d like to share with you my thoughts on the *July edition of the Classic Native

Product Review: Travel-friendly skincare packs from GAIA
As I write this I am having a relaxing time in a holiday
house on the Mornington Peninsula just a few minutes from the beach. And after
having just moved out of our house, with all the stress it brings to pack up a
whole house, with a baby on arm, it is nice to sit back and chill, as there
simply isn’t a lot to do around here, and with limited access to internet, I
thought that I’d take the opportunity to get a few blog posts written up to
keep for a rainy day… which is just around the corner, as end of next week we
will be moving into the house where we will be staying while our new house is
being built.
I have combination skin, and these products are perfect for it. The Foaming Cleanser contains among others chamomile, green tea and gotu kola and it cleanses deep down my pores getting rid of excess sebum and grime, without stripping my skin of essential moisture. The Toner containing calendula, green tea and rose floral water helps tighten the pores and prepare the skin for moisturiser. And I love that it doesn’t contain alcohol to fry out the skin, and comes in a pump bottle so it can also be used as a facial spritzer during the day to freshen up the skin. Finally, the Facial moisturiser, which has been formulated with ginseng, jojoba oil and evening primrose thoroughly moisturises my skin without making it feel greasy or break out. The only thing I could have wished for is for the moisturiser to also contain SPF, but then on the other hand it would mean it wouldn’t be suitable as a night cream.
Have you ever tried any of the products from GAIA? Do you
use natural skincare products? Is your hubby into skincare? Does he use his own
products or does he pinch yours?
With all the stress of packing up a house, one thing that
was nice, was not having to pack a plethora of different products to maintain
the beauty routine, but simply rely on a skincare pack which includes all the
products necessary. Here are my thoughts on the *GAIA Skincare Trio and GAIA
Made for Men Overnight Pack;
What They Say:
"Keep the GAIA Skincare Trio pack products in your gym or 'carry on' bag
& take them where ever you go. This kit comes in a re-usable zip lock
"wet pack" & makes a great gift for women of all ages. The
bottles can be refilled so you don't have to keep buying smaller sizes to take
out with you."
"Take your favourite GAIA Made for Men products in small
sizes when you travel and when they are finished simply re-fill from your
regular sized tubes."
RRP: GAIA Made for Men Overnight Pack (4x50ml) $17.95, GAIA
Skincare Trio (3x50ml)
– Available from Priceline, select Chemists and Health
Stores, and GAIA Skin Naturals Online
What I Say:
I have previously reviewed products from GAIA, and I in
particularly love the Belly Butter and Belly Oil that I used while I was
pregnant, and now the GAIA Natural Baby products that I continue to use on my
little boy. I simply love that the products have been made without any of the ingredients known to irritate the skin
or suspected of being harmful, so consequently the products do not contain any
sulphates, petrochemicals, lanolin, paraben preservatives, propylene glycol,
phthalates or artificial fragrances.
As GAIA puts
it “It’s not just the pure, naturel, organic ingredients we put in, it’s what
we leave out that makes the difference…!”
And I also love that GAIA is an Australian
owned company, and that the products Australian made, without being tested on
animals. Gotta love that!
Let me start
off with the GAIA Made for Men Overnight Pack. I’m lucky that my hubby
cares about his looks, and happy to use moisturiser, facial scrubs etc. – and
he has (luckily for me) realised that using products designed specifically for
men, are not only more effective for his skin type, they obviously also smell
masculine.
Not sure why this pack is called an Overnight Pack, - it
contains four products, but each of the products contains 50ml of product, so
there is sufficient product for several weeks!
The kit contains a Face & Body Wash, Face Crème, Shave
Gel and a Face & Body scrub – so basically all your hubby needs. And it
comes in a handy clear travel bag too.
All the products are very concentrated, and my hubby really
likes that the products have a nice refreshing yet masculine scent no doubt due
to the included orange, cedarwood and sandalwood.
The female Skincare Trio contains as the name suggests three
products, a Pink Grapefruit & Jasmine Foaming Cleanser, a Rose Otto &
Lavender Refreshing Toner, and a Lavender & Frankincense Facial
Moisturiser.
The only thing I could have wished for is for the moisturiser to also contain SPF, but then on the other hand it would mean it wouldn’t be suitable as a night cream.
Like the pack for men, the products in the female pack
contain 50ml of product, so there is sufficient product for several weeks!
Overall these are lovely travel packs from GAIA that include
the key products needed for a trip away, and I love how efficient these
products are while not containing any chemical nasties.so if you are planning a
getaway, or you simply want to trial the GAIA products, I highly recommend
these skincare kits.
