PRODUCT REVIEW: BACK TO SCHOOL WITH SMASH ENTERPRISES

In just over a week, my big boy will be a school boy. It sounds so wrong to write this out, simply as I cannot believe that it seems to have come around so fast. It seems only yesterday I was pushing around the pram, or even started kindergarten last year. Of course, being in kindergarten three days a week has sort of conditioned him to being away from home (and mummy), but the days will be longer, and of course, he will be at school Monday to Friday, with no days off. It will be tough for the little man (and the little brother who will be missing his big brother and play mate!!)

But it will also be tough on this mummy suddenly having to make up lunch boxes five days a week - but thankfully thanks to Smash Enterprises and Big W, we are all off to a great start, even my husband and I!!

Mens Lunxx Insulated Lunch Box

My husband is in the car a lot every single day, and prefers to bring his own lunch, fruit and bottles of water - so the Mens Lynxx Insulated Lunch Bag cooler is the perfect choice for him. The cooler bag is rather large, holding 9 litres, so it can hold several bottles of water that can stand up get him through the day, as well as there is sufficient room for a lunch box and fruit too. Plus the grey and black design is simple and stylish, so he also feels comfortable when taking it with him into the office!

Ladies Chicago Insulated Lunch Box

For me, well, most days I am home, but naturally I do go out, and again often prefer to bring my own drinks and food too for health reasons and as I simply get the worst headaches if I don’t get sufficient water throughout the day. The Ladies Chicago Insulated Lunch Bag is a super gorgeous handbag style cooler bag that completely makes you forget that it is actually a cooler bag. It if of course plenty big to hold a few bottles of water, a small lunch box and some fruit too.

Sip & Clip Drink Bottle and Bento Bite Lunch Box

For my boy there’s the Bento Bite Lunch Box, which has lots of features, including a removeable inner tray (1100ml), with 6 deep compartments for a variety of food, fruit and snacks of all sizes. It also comes with a snack pot (85ml) that is leak proof, so perfect for yoghurts, dips and juicy fruits. Underneath the tray, it has a skinny ice brick that helps keep lunches cool. It is removable so it can go in the freezer overnight, which I really like. The sealed lid helps prevent spills to keep the food fresh. It also has a child friendly latch that is easy to open for little hands, and a very durable outer case to protect the lunch box from drips and bumps.

This is such a clever lunch box and I love how it allows for a range of different foods, yet separates them without any risk of spills. Nothing worse than a soggy sandwich. I also love that it comes with the ice brick to ensure the freshness of the food.

Bento Switch Up and Glow Bottle

An alternative is the Bento Switch Up, which comes with two included dividers that can be removed and adjusted, allowing you to create 2, 3 or 4 compartments, and thereby allowing for a larger variety of food, with ie snacks and fruit in the smaller compartments, and sandwich in the larger ones. The large divider has a silicone edge, to create leak resistant compartments.

I also really like the tit comes with a removable Cool Skin base that helps protect and keep the lunch cool for longer. The lid is also easy to open and close, so its great for little hands too.

Bento Bite Lunch Box, Glow Bottle
and Nude Food Mover Light Lunch Bag

Then there’s the Nude Food Mover Light Lunch Bag, which is a oval shaped lunch box, and actually fits both the Bento Switch Up and the Bento Bite Lunch Boxes, but of course you can also just pop in an ice block and a wrapped up sandwich as well as a bottle, as the upright design, allows for even a tall bottle to stand up.

Nude Food Mover Light Lunch Bag

Alternatively therein the Double Coldbox, which has the cutest design with teeth sticking out. It features two zipped compartments, a smaller one at the top, great for smaller snacks such as muesli bars and smaller pieces of fruit, as well as a larger bottom compartment for the actual lunch box. I really love the carry case design of this one,

On the bottle front, needless to say that the Glow Bottle is a huge success with the kids, and a great way to get them to drink a little more water. After being exposed to light, the bottle can glow for up to 6 hours, so if your little one has a drink bottle during the night if they get thirsty, it will help them locate it in the room. I like that the BPA free bottle has a dual wall to help keep the drink cool for longer, and that it is easy for little hands to hang onto and open too without any spillage. With 420ml it has a good size to keep kids supplied with water throughout the day too.

Alternatively, there’s the Sip & Clip Drink Bottle, which is also BPA free. The slightly smaller 375ml bottle has a sip top and a screw lid with a sip top and convenient clip that means it can be clipped onto a school bag or sports bag, as well as it makes it easy to hang onto too.

These product not only look great, with something suitable for the whole family, as they are so functional. Another thing that I really love is that the cooler bags are made with a unique Blue iQ lining that is both mould resistant and antibacterial, as it has a physical barrier that won’t allow food to adhere to or absorb into the lining, and thus spread harmful bacteria. And as for the drink bottles, I love that they are BPA free, so there’ll be no plastic nasties contaminating the drink.
