PRODUCT REVIEW: INIKA MINERAL FOUNDATION, LIQUID FOUNDATION AND PRO KABUKI BRUSH FROM RY

One of those Australian brands I absolutely adore is INIKA, as their products are so beautiful to use and wear, not least as they are made using pure natural botanicals and minerals, and are certified organic too. Thanks to RY, I’ve put some products to the test..

Let’s start with the INIKA Loose Mineral Foundation, which is made using 100% natural ingredients. The powder foundation offers a light coverage that can be build up to a medium coverage, using a kabuki brush (see below what I’m using), while still looking very natural, thanks also to being so finely milled. It easily covers pigmentation, blemishes and scarring, and is super gentle on the skin as it doesn’t contain any fillers or harsh chemicals, which means that it is also perfect for those with sensitive skin, or following a cosmetic procedure.

I also love that it has antioxidants added to help soothe a and calm the skin and reduce redness, as well as it has added titanium and zinc oxide to offer a natural sun protection of SPF25. I like to use it both on its own but sometimes also on top of my other foundations as a setting powder and for extra coverage, and regardless, I like to use a setting spray to make it look more dewy. The foundation lasts really well on my combination skin, without settling into fine lines and wrinkles, and without changing colour throughout the day.

To apply the INIKA Loose Mineral Foundation, I’ve been using the INIKA Pro Kabuki Brush, which come with a stylish black protective case. The brush has super soft and very dense Synthetic bristles, which makes it easy to use with loose powders to achieve an even finish, as it helps distribute an even amount of powder across the face. You can either use it in a stroking motion across the face for a light look, or for a better coverage, use it in circular buffing motions, and simply repeating until you’ve reached the desired coverage. The brush is so great quality, and I love the little case it comes with, as it helps protect the brush when travelling or in the makeup bag, plus also helps prevent any remaining powder on the brush spilling into your bag. This Kabuki Brush is also Certified Vegan and Cruelty-Free.

If you’re more for a liquid foundation, then there’s the INIKA Liquid Foundation with Hyaluronic Acid is the perfect foundation for your anti-ageing needs, as it helps provide intense moisture to the skin, while smoothing wrinkles, improving skin elasticity and help regenerate the cells - make up and anti-ageing skincare in one, how brilliant, I love it.

Along with the hyaluronic acid to help improve skin elasticity and hydration, it also contains Aloe Vera Leaf Juice and Jojoba Seed Oils to soothe, hydrate and moisturise the skin, along with Vitamin E, Argan Oil and Rosehip Oil to nurture and repair the skin.

The foundation fairly thick, so on the downside I feel that you do have to work fast to blend it in. I prefer applying it with my fingers, or a foundation brush for a more even result, but that I’m sure a sponge would work well too. It has a medium coverage, which I really like, as it easily covers all redness and pigmentation, but still leaves the skin looking very natural, with a even healthy glow. I also love that it has a matte finish, and even on my combination skin it stays put all day without going shiny or settling into fine lines.

These products from INIKA are seriously amazing, and again reinstates that it is an incredible brand. These foundations are incredible, each on their own, or even the powder used on top of the liquid foundation for extra coverage, and I find it hard to pick a favourite of the two. I am usually more fond of liquid foundations, but I have actually been enjoying using the powder foundation on more casual days, but on the other hand, I am really loving the fact that the liquid foundation has anti-ageing ingredients, and helps care for my ageing skin as I wear it, and I love that they do not clog up my blemish prone skin or cause further breakouts. And needless to say the brush is also amazing, and of such high quality. You can also get a version without the case, but I am really loving the fact that it come sent the case, as it so great when travelling too.

  1. Australia has some really interesting brands! I haven't heard of this line before. I just love trying new makeup. Mineral makeup isn't something I have a lot of either so this is even more interesting. The packaging is very pretty. I like that you mention it doesn't settle into fine lines. Which is a huge problem for me with so many products!
