One of those brands that I am relatively new to is Philosophy, so I was excited to put a few of their newer products to the test, including the Philosophy Microdelivery Overnight Anti-Aging Peel, and the Take a Deep Breath, all thanks to RY.
Let’s start with the Philosophy Microdelivery Overnight Anti-Aging Peel, which is a two step, leave-on anti-aging peel formula, which is designed to help improve the visible signs of skin ageing, including wrinkles, loss of firmness and enlarged pores.
This treatment is super gentle on the skin, and combines the immediate micro-exfoliation of a peel with the restorative benefits of an overnight sleep mask to virtually eliminate the potential for irritation, for skin that appears healthier-looking longer. The treatment is used at night, just before bed, on a cleaned skin.
The first step is the alpha/beta hydroxy acid leave-on peel solution, that helps deliver resurfacing benefits gently throughout the night. To use, you simply saturate one of the enclosed cotton pads with the peel solution and wipe over cleansed skin. This is left on the skin without rinsing, and after 2–3 minutes, once it has absorbed into the skin, you can proceed to step two. It is easy to dispense the solution without any wastage as it comes in a nifty little bottle with a dropper. It does have a runny consistency, so you do have to be careful not to get too much. It also has a slightly chemical scent, but thankfully that quickly fades. As this is an alpha/beta hydroxy acid, it does have a slight tingling feeling at first, but nothing that is bothering me, or irritating the skin, and I take it as a clear sign that it is giving my skin a gentle exfoliation.
The second step is the youth-extending night gel, which elevates the peel by enhancing the ability of new skin cells to resist visible signs of ageing. It helps improve firmness and the look of wrinkles and pore size, and is simply massaged into the skin and left on overnight, as any other night cream. The night cream has a gorgeous light turquoise-blue colour and a gel-like consistency that feels so light, fresh, cooling and soothing on the skin. If your skin needs additional hydration, you can follow with your usual night cream on top. And you can also use the youth-extending night gel on its own between peels. For best results, it is recommended to use the Microdelivery Overnight Anti-Aging Peel 2–3 nights per week.
So what are my thoughts on the Microdelivery Overnight Anti-Aging Peel…
well, I can definitely say that I feel it has made my skin look more radiant and glowing in the morning after use. I also feel that it has made some finer lines slightly less visible as well as I feel my skin possibly looks more even in tone, with lighter pigmentation evened out a little. I also feel that pores, especially in the t-zone area, in particular on my nose, are smaller in size, and my skin in general is less greasy. I also feel that it in turn has possibly helped clear up some stubborn breakouts, and also prevent new ones from forming, which I am only happy about too.
Often peels can be very strong and harsh on the skin, but I feel that this is a very gentle product, and while my skin is not sensitive, I have not experienced any irritations at all. As a busy mum with two little kids, I also love how this treatment works at night while I sleep, as it makes it so easy to use too.
And I have to say that I’v been absolutely loving it, as I feel it really is making a significant to the look and feel of my skin, so I will definitely look into repurchasing once I run out.
Then I have also been putting the Philosophy Take a Deep Breath Oil-Free Oxygenating Gel Cream to the test. This cream is helps treat tired, dull and stressed-out skin to an intense burst of hydration and nourishment.
Oil-free and non-greasy, the lightweight light green gel-cream utilises exclusive Clean-Air Technology™ to deliver concentrated oxygen directly to pores and features a patented blend of anti-pollutants and antioxidants to combat free radical damage that causes premature ageing. It has been enriched with Bitter Orange Peel, which gives it a gorgeous scent, along with Rosemary, to make it soothing on the skin. the cream is suitable for all skin types, and it also helps to unclog skin and allow it to breathe more freely, to reveal a fresher and healthier-looking complexion with a new found radiance.
The cream can be used morning and night, but I’ve particularly loved using it as a day cream, not least because the gel-like non-greasy light formula absorbs immediately into my skin, and forms the perfect base for makeup. It leaves my skin feeling so and refreshed, also as it has a cooling feeling on the skin as you apply it.
This cream is really perfect for my combination, yet ageing skin, as often I have the issue that a moisturiser is either too light not providing sufficient moisture, or it is so heavy that it make my skin feel congested and breakout. But not this one, it seems just perfect, not too light, and not too heavy, giving my skin just the right amount of moisture, making it look and feel refreshed and radiant too.

The peel sounds amazing! I love peels that are effective without leaving my skin red or irritated. I will check this one out. We have a Philosophy store down the road and it's not in the mall so it's really convenient to go to! Excited to check this one (I'm hoping they will make me a sample to try!)
