What I Say:
As soon as I saw the Covergirl Outlast Lipstain I was intrigued
– it really looks like a texta marker, down to the look of the applicator!
In the pen, the colour 400 Everbloom Kiss, looks like a
bright fuchsia pink, but with the lid in a see-thorough pink colour, indicating
that this is just a stain, and not a solid colour. And applying it to my lips I
was quite impressed. The tip of the pen is pointed, so it works as a lipliner
at the same time, making it so easy to apply, without ‘making a mess’. It takes
a little longer than a normal lipstick to get colour onto the lips, it is not
just a matter of ‘swipe and go, but you kind of have to dab the point onto the
lips so the colour can absorb into the lips in order to get the desired colour.
But once it is on, it dries almost instantly, and is s very
pretty pink stain, which is so lightweight that you can even feel that you are
wearing it. And the colour of the stain is pretty and natural, a true ‘just
bitten’ colour, perfect for a casual day when you do not feel like being too
made up!
Covergirl claims that the Outlast lipstain stays put for
hours, but unfortunately I found that it didn’t say long on my lips, about an
hour without eating or drinking, and I would need to reapply. The name
‘Outlast’ is therefore also a little misleading.
Hereafter I tried to build up the colour, which is very
easy, and this does extend the wear of the lipstain, but at the same time the subtle
colour disappears and instead you get a more intense colour, which is ok, but
at the same time, not quite the look I was after.
Unlike a lipstick or lipgloss, the Covergirl Outlast
Lipstain is a little drying on the lips, so I found that got a nicer result and
look by adding a coat of clear lip balm on top.
In terms of the $17.95 price tag, I do find that it is quite
reasonable. However, on the other hand, if you need to reapply ever hour the lipstain may quickly run out, and not be
such a bargain buy after all, but I’m yet to empty mine. And due to the design
and the pen-style, it is unlike normal lipsticks and lipglosses impossible to
see when it runs out.
All in all I have enjoyed the Outlast Lipstain, as I really
like the subtle colour that it gives me, also in spite of it not lasting that
long on the lips, so I may look into other colours in the range.

Thanks heaps. Yes it is a lovely colour, although it is a lot more subtle when on the lips!
DeleteI have been eyeing these off for sometime, but am not personally fussed on this shade of pink myself, but otherwise it sounds very cost effective, well worth trying in a colour more to my preference :-)
ReplyDeleteThere are 10 colours available, so I'm sure that you can find one that you like..!
DeleteThanks for reviewing this Karina. I had a feeling that it may not last the length oftime that it claims to. It's a pretty colour on you.
ReplyDeleteIn spite of it not lasting so long, I do love how it feels on the lips, and I do love the colour too!
