Product Review: Neutrogena Naturals Lip Balm

Being pregnant, I am increasingly interested in and concerned about more natural skincare products. Natural skin care products have until recently been coming mainly from smaller companies concentrating solely on selling natural skin care, so I was very happy when I learned that a ‘main-stream’ drugstore company, such as Neutrogena were launching their Naturals skincare range. Here are my thoughts on the *Neutrogena Naturals Lip Balm;

What They Say:
"Neutrogena Naturals Lip Balm moisturises and soothes lips. The long lasting formula with Vitamin E bionutrients heals dry skin and keeps lips healthy looking".

RRP: $4.99 (4g) – Available from Priceline, Pharmacies, Department Stores, and Supermarkets.

What I Say:
I don’t have particularly dry lips, but as many others, I am still addicted to a good lip balm to keep my lips soft and moisturised, and act at the perfect base for a lipstick.

The new Neutrogena Naturals Range has been developed with an average of 95% natural ingredients – and in fact, the lip balm has been made using 100% natural ingredient, and without using sulfates, parabens, dyes, and phthalates. How good is that!

In addition, on the back of the packaging, which in the case of the lip balm, has been made from 100% recycled paper, all ingredients used are clearly listed. I love the sound of that!!

The Neutrogena Naturals Lip Balm comes in a clear frosted tube which makes it easy to see exactly how much is left.

According to the packaging it contains natural flavour, and in spite of having a slight flavour, it is very minimal, and actually quite difficult to say exactly what that flavour is. Still it is quite pleasant.

The Lip Balm has a slight peppermint scent – although I cannot actually spot any peppermint, mint or the like ingredients listed on the back of the packaging, so I am a little unsure which ingredient that would be coming from. And when you apply it to your lips, it also has a slight cooling sensation, which I kind of like. The lip balm also feels very smooth and creamy on the lips, no doubt due to included beeswax and shea butter, which also means that the lips are left soft and moisturised. It stays on the lips for quite a while before you need to reapply.

The lip balm goes on almost clear, with very little gloss or sheen, which is a nice change, and which consequently also means that it is also great for use under a lipstick – or by your other half!!

All in all, I think that this is a great lip balm, and I really love the fact that it has been made using 100% natural ingredient and no chemical nasties. And at just $4.99 it is an absolute bargain buy!
