Product Review and NOTD: Nicole By OPI Modern Family Collection in Basking in Gloria

A little while ago I told you about Nicole by OPI launching a Modern Family Collection. And while I don’t mind watching the odd comic show now and again, I usually tire of them pretty quickly. Well expect for I absolutely love watching that show, it never stops to surprise me, and it is the one comedy show that I have not yet gotten tired off.

The Nicole by OPI Modern Family collection features shades that capture the show's colorful personalities from a classic taupe named after patriarch Jay, to a sparkly pink hue fit for little Lilly! I was lucky to get to trial the shade called Basking in Gloria, and here are my thoughts;

What They Say:
Nicole by OPI contains no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde and has a custom designed 'Perfect Stroke' brush for the most precise application.

RRP: $14.95 – Available from selected pharmacies, Hairhouse Warehouse, Petra Haircare and from Nicole by OPI Online

What I Say:
I really love the Nicole by OPI nail polishes, as you can always rely on the best quality and a continuous stream of remarkable colour range. And also as they very importantly are 3-free – that is, that they do not contain DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde.

Nicole by OPI's Basking in Gloria is described by Nicole by OPI as a "red-violet is the colour of passion" – and while I agree with the colour of passion, and that it is the perfect shade for Gloria – I would rather describe the colour as a deep Burgundy. It has tiny bits of shimmer throughout, which reflects the light nicely. And once applied the colour is exactly as it appears in the bottle.

The nail polish has a nice formula, which is so easy to apply – and thanks so the wide brush, just a few quick brushstrokes and the nail is covered. The nail polish is seriously so easy to apply that even I, who is very clumsy when it comes to applying nail polish could make it look half-decent!

The nail polish covers nice and evenly, without any visible brush strokes. It has such a strong colour that covers so well, although I am still wearing two coat in these pictures (but that is pretty standard for any nail polish, isn’t it?).

And it dries so quickly too, which I really like, and I love the fact that it doesn’t have a strong smell either – no doubt due to being free from DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde.

I have now been wearing the polish for three days, and have to admit that it is starting to chip a little at the edges. But in saying that, I also have two large dogs who are inside the house moist of the time, so I do wash my hands quite regularly, and not to mention spend some time on the computer keyboard, which no doubt reduces the wear of the nail polish too!  However, in saying that, I also didn’t wear any top coat, so if I had, I have no doubt that it would have lasted at least another couple of days before starting to chip!

All in all, the Nicole by OPI nail polishes really are of such fantastic quality, and absolutely worth their price tag. And I absolutely love this deep burgundy red colour, as it is so striking.

  1. This is a pretty shade! It's great it dries quickly too, I hate having to wait an age for my nails to dry because i'm impatient and end up ruining them!
