I love coming across natural Australian beauty brands, such as Aequora Natural & Organic. The Queensland based brand has been created by Lisa Egglestone, who is qualified in organic skincare and essential oils, with products formulated alongside specialist formulators and chemists to create a range of Native Botanical skincare.
The products are made using natural and certified organic ingredients that are free from all nasties including Parabens, Petrochemicals, Phtalates, Propylene Glycol, Mineral Oil, SLS, Synthetic Fragrance and Artificial Colour, and of course the product are cruelty free too.
I’ve put a selection of products to the test, including;
- Aequora Exfoliating Body Scrub*
- Aequora Hydrating Hand & Body Wash*
- Aequora Body Moisturising Lotion*
- Aequora Intensely Moisturising Hand Cream*
- Aequora Hydrating Facial Mist*
Let’s start with the Exfoliating Body Scrub, which is made using apricot kernels, sweet almond oil, coconut and vitamins E to help give the body a gentle exfoliation and help rejuvenate the skin. It also contains antioxidants and vitamins C & E to promote new cell growth and sebum balance in your skin along with a blend of Australian Native Botanical extracts, including Kakadu Plum, Lilly billy fruit extract and quandong fruit extract and a fresh, zesty blend of essential oils, including lemon peel oil, lavender oil and to leave the skin feeling beautifully soft and moisturised.
I’ve always loved facial scrubs with apricot kernels, so love a body scrub with these too (plus such a refreshing change from the coffee scrubs which seem to dominate the body scrub market at the moment!).
As I’ve mentioned before, I am not fond of the packet style packaging the body scrub comes in, as I do find it a little cumbersome to use in the shower when your hands are wet, and it is easy to waste product also, but fully understand that this type of packaging is so frequently used as it is simply more cost effective, and can keep product cost down. Personally I have a few plastic jars available that I keep recycling for my body scrubs, as I simply find it so much easier.
Anyway, that aside, I really enjoy using this body scrub. It is a bit gritty, which I really like, as you can really feel it buffing away all the dead skin cells, and leaves the skin feeling so soft and smooth. And I also love its fresh scent, which no doubt comes from the Kakadu plum and lemon peel oil.
Next is the Hydrating Hand & Body Wash, which is made with among others Vitamin E, Macadamia seed oil and Avocado oil, along with Kakadu Plum, Quandong and Lilly Pilly fruit extract, and lemon peel oil.
Again thanks to the lemon peel oil, this body was has the most gorgeous fresh and uplifting scent, and helps gently cleanse the skin without drying it out, but rather leave it soft and smooth. I also love that the lemon peel oil help combat clogged pores and breakouts.
The Body Moisturising Lotion is designed to help leave the skin supple, hydrated and nourished, and the added native botanical extracts of Kakadu Plum, Lilly Pilly and Quandong help produce an even skin tone, maintaining the skins health and keep it looking radiant and youthful. It also contains lactic acid, which I really love, as it helps give the skin a gentle exfoliation, that can help reduce the appearance of breakouts, pigmentation, and other signs of ageing, while leaving the skin soother.
It has a lovely light consistency that absorbs quickly into the skin without greasiness, yet it is super hydrating, leaving my skin feeling so soft and glowing. And as I’ve mentioned before, while I love the moisturising properties of coconut oil, I am not fond of its scent, but thankfully you can barely detect it in this moisturiser. Rather it has the most stunning and fresh zesty and uplifting scent from the lemon, which is my favourite scent, so I absolutely love it, and how this scent continues to linger on my skin for long after it’s fully absorbed.
Then there’s the Intensely Moisturising Hand Cream, is promising to help soften and nourish hands and cuticles and help repair and regenerate damaged skin cells to promote a smooth and moisturised skin. Like the Body Lotion, the Hand Cream also contains lactic acid to help gently exfoliate the skin. It has a slightly thick consistency and consequently does take a few moments to absorb into the skin, and consequently I do like having it on my bedside table for use at night. That said, it is worth the wait for it to absorb into the skin, as it really does leave the skin deeply moisturised and feeling so incredibly soft, and again, with that gorgeous fresh zesty lemon scent lingering on the skin for long after.
Finally, there’s the Hydrating Facial Mist, which contains among others aloe juice, vitamin E, C and green tea extract along with lavender oil, lemon peel oil, Frankincense oil and Calendula Flower Extract. It is designed to provide the skin with an intense dose of vitamins and antioxidants to help improve its firmness, add hydration and moisture and fight the signs of ageing. And all while keeping the skin feeling fresh. I also love how it contains Salicylic Acid, that also helps gently exfoliate the skin, unclog pores, and prevent breakouts. Compared to the other products, it is not quite as lemon scented (unfortunately!), though it still has a gorgeous gentle and natural scent. And it really does help freshen up the skin, and add an extra dose or moisture whenever your skin needs it throughout the day. So it will perfect as we head towards summer, and the small size means it is perfect for popping into the handbag, or when on long haul flights.
These Aequora Natural & Organic products really are lovely and I love how they are not just Aussie made, but also made using 100% natural and ingredients, and are cruelty free too. I also love the simply bottles with the grey labels, as they simply look so sleek and timeless in my bathroom, and the fresh zesty lemon scent is just so beautiful. If I had to pic favourites from this bunch, it would without a doubt be the Body Lotion and the Hand Cream, but for the pure reason that I simply love how the lemon scent continue to linger on my skin long after I’ve used them.
If you’re looking for some great Aussie natural skincare products, they I highly recommend that you try Aequora Natural & Organic, you’ll love them!
