PRODUCT REVIEW: NU SKIN EPOCH 100% PURE ESSENTIAL OILS WITH SENSORY AND WELLNESS BENEFITS

I am quite new to essential oils, but as well as I love that my home smells great when I put them in my oil burner. So needless to say that I was excited when the Nu Skin Epoch Essential Oils Pack landed on my desk to put to the test. The Essential Oils from the Nu Skin Epoch range are 100% pure, and therefore a healthy natural alternative to using chemicals. Being so new to essential oils, apart from the different scents available, I was quite astounded by the amazing health benefits from the different oils, and the fact that they can be used both topically or aromatically to provide a variety of sensory and wellness experiences and benefits.

But let's talk about the different oils. The Nu Skin Epoch Essential Oils Pack includes one of each of the following essential oils;

  • Epoch Assure, 15ml
  • Epoch Brisk, 15ml
  • Epoch Burst, 15ml
  • Epoch Move, 15ml
  • Epoch Unwind, 15ml
  • Epoch Peppermint, 15ml
  • Epoch Lavender, 15ml
  • Epoch Lemon, 15ml
  • Epoch Tea Tree, 15ml
  • Epoch Topical Blending oil, 118ml

But let' s talk a little about them one by one, starting with the blended oils first;

Epoch Assure - this is a blended essential oil made with Cinnamon and clove and it helps neutralise odours in the air. It is a slightly strong strong and spicy scent - but with scents that remind me of my home country of Denmark, where Cinnamon coffee scrolls are the epitome of danish pastries, and cloves are pushed into fresh oranges, which then are then placed in bowls or used as decorations in the lead up to Christmas to spread a gorgeous warm fruity and spicy scent throughout the house. For me, consequently, this oil, is best used in the cooler months. But the oil can also be put directly onto the soles of the feet (or a few drops into shoes to remove odours), as well as it can be used in your washing machine or dishwasher cycles to help remove that mould build up, and trust me, it seriously works magic.

Epoch Brisk - this is a blended oil made with a combination of eucalyptus and pine, designed to help create clean airways and easy breathing - a little like using eucalyptus in soothers when you’ve got a cold, this essential oil has such a strong fresh scent that leaves a strong, yet fresh and refreshing scent. As well as in a burner or a few drops into a bath, if you’re feeling a little sniffly, the oil can also be put directly on the soles of your feet, on your upper chest or under the nose, or alternatively into a bowl of steaming water where you can inhale the vapours.

Epoch Burst - this is also a blend oil made with citrus and mint, which helps with an energised and refreshed feeling. The notes of the citrus from the grapefruit, tangerine, lime along with the bergamot gives this such a fresh and zesty scent and the added mint is a lovely refreshing addition. As citrus scents are my favourite, there is probably no need to say that I absolutely love this one, and it really does give you a burst of energy each time to smell it. Along with using in a burner, you can also use to wipe down surfaces, or mix a few drops into a water spray bottle and use it as an air-freshener. On the skin, you can put a drop or two onto your wrists for more energy.

Epoch Move - also a blended oil made with wintergreen and juniper. This oil has a soothing yet invigorating scent, and can also be used mixed with the Epoch Topical Blending Oil and then massage into the skin for a soothing and cooling sensation, such as onto the legs or arms after workouts or walks.

Epoch Unwind - another blend, this one made with lavender and bergamot, and intended to help create the feeling of harmony and peace, by calming the spirit and quieting the mind and create a moment of peace on even the most hectic day. It has a lovely scent, and I actually love the addition of the bergamot, which makes for a fresh change. As well as using in a diffuser, you can use in a bath, or massage onto the skin or the soles of your feet to help calm and relax, or rub a few drops onto your pillow before bed for a better sleep.

And then there’s the single oils, including the Epoch Peppermint, another one of my faves. This oil is a little sharp, but has such a lovely freshness, that fill my home with such a uplifting scent. It is said to help with enhancing the concentration and mental alertness, though I am not sure that I’ve noticed this. As well as in a burner, the oil can also be massaged into the neck, or under the nose to awaken the senses.

Then there’s the Epoch Lavender, with the beautiful floral scent we all know. Lavender has always been known to help create a tranquil and relaxing mood, and thus great for night time. It can be used in the burner, or you can also put a few drops into a warm bath to help calm your senses. Or if you don’t have a bath, you can even pop a few drops in the corner of your shower and let the warm steam do the magic. Finally, you can also run a few drops onto your pillow to help calm and soothe for a more relaxing sleep.

Next is the Epoch Lemon, which again with my favourite scents being fresh citrus scents, this is one of my favourites. This one is so fresh and helps elevate the mood and energise, while helping to remove odours and leave a fresh, zesty and crisp scent behind, and it can be used in both a diffuser, as an air freshener, or added to a cleaner or clothing wash cycles for for fresh smelling clothes.

Then there’s the Epoch Tea Tree, which has a lovely natural freshness that also helps soothe the senses. This oil can be used both in a diffuser, but also onto the skin to ie help treat breakouts thanks to its antiseptic properties, but it can also help soothe the senses by rubbing it onto the feet or temples.

Finally, there’s the Epoch Topical Blending oil, which is a oil made from fractionated coconut oil and by adding a few drops of one of the essential oils per teaspoon of Epoch Topical Blending Oil, you are able to also use the essential oils as massage oils, which I think is absolutely brilliant, as that way you can get a more sensory massage experience.

Overall, these essential oils are so beautiful and they are a little on the pricey side, but they are without a doubt of the highest and very pure quality, as they are so strong and concentrated that you only need to use a few drops - I like to fill the little bowl in my diffuser with luke-warm tap water, and then add no more than just 3-5 drops of essential oils to the water and then burn a tea candle underneath to heat up the mixture, and release the scent into the air. Once I added a few too many drops, and trust me when I say that the scent was too strong, so being too generous with these concentrated oils is not a great idea, which is only a bonus as again it will mean that although the bottles are quite small with just 15ml, they will last you quite a while.

I have absolutely loved putting this collection of oils to the test, and have gotten to try essential oils I otherwise wouldn’t. Again, as a lover of anything citrus scented, needless to say that favourites were the Lemon and Burst, as they are simply so fresh and energetic. I have also loved the Tea Tree and the Peppermint for their natural freshness, and in periods of having one too many things on my mind, also enjoyed diffusing the Unwind or the Lavender at night before bed. And finally, I have also enjoyed using the Brisk in connection with everyone in the family having a bad cold, to help relieve the snotty noses.

I still prefer to use them in my oil burner (which is quite old so I do have my eyes on a a stunning white and timber one from the Nu Skin range!!), but I do want to try using them a little more in baths, only got to find the time to do so.

I was lucky to put the full range to the test, but you can also purchase them individually which of course makes them more affordable. Definitely looking into, if you like beautifully scented essential oils and the health benefits they offer, I definitely recommend that you look into the Nu Skin Epoch range.
