Product Review: Neutrogena Deep Clean Revitalising Pink Grapefruit Daily Scrub and Foam Cleanser

Having always struggled with breakouts, using the right cleansers and exfoliators is vital for keeping my skin clear, so over the years I have tried countless of products in the quest for the perfect ones. And getting into the age where anti-ageing products are required, this has gotten even harder, as often products that help keep skin clear from breakouts are not very friendly towards ageing skin. Here are my thoughts on the *Neutrogena Deep Clean Revitalising Pink Grapefruit Daily Scrub and Foam Cleanser;

What They Say:
"Neutrogena Deep Clean Revitalising Pink Grapefruit Daily Scrub helps to reveal healthier, younger looking skin, with key ingredient pink grapefruit extract."

"Neutrogena Deep Clean Revitalising Pink Grapefruit Foam Cleanser gently cleans the skin to eliminate dead skin cells and helps stimulate cell renewal. The formula combines pink grapefruit extract with alpha-hydroxy-acid."

RRP: Daily Scrub: $13.99 (100ml), Foam Cleanser $13.99 (175ml) – Available from supermarkets, pharmacies and Priceline.

What I Say:
Having a 12 week old son means that I am not getting my required beauty sleep at the moment, which not only shows in the growing dark circles under my eyes, but my skin is also looking less than glowing.

The Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Daily Scrub and Foam Cleanser claims to reach deep into the pores and gently reveal brighter, more radiant younger looking skin. Just what my skin needs!

Both the Daily Scrub and the Foam Cleanser contains, as the name suggests pink grapefruit extract which contain natural alpha-hydroxy acid, helping to eliminate dead skin cells and stimulate cell renewal, to reveal healthy younger looking skin.

I believe that hand soaps where the first to use this technology, but now the liquid to foam has entered the face cleanser category as well. Given a quick shake as per instructions, and the Form Cleanser turns into to a lovely foam. About two pumps is required. It feels nice and refreshing on the skin, and easily removes my makeup (although I do use a specific eye makeup remover to remove my waterproof eye makeup). And after following with a second cleanse, I can feel that my skin is thoroughly clean deep down every single pore, and that it is soft, yet without being striped for moisture – a nightmare for any ageing skin, as it makes lines stand out, and make you look even older. Yikes!

The Foam Cleanser come in a pump bottle and the see-through bottle reveals the image of a pink grapefruit on the revere side of the back label, as well as the pink foam cleanser. The pump bottle makes it easy to use and dispense exactly the amount of cleanser need, and the see-through bottle means that you can see exactly how much cleanse you have left.

The Daily Scrub is a clear gel with some pink scrubbing particles – and actually I was surprised at how few of those scrubbers there were in the gel, and consequently questioning its efficiency. But after use, I am happy to say that I was wrong. This scrub has left my skin is so soft and smooth, and looking more radiant, and again without stripping it from any essential moisture. And I clearly see why it is called Daily Scrub, as it is so gentle that that it is suitable for daily use.

The Daily Scrub comes in a pink tube with a flip lid, and it is upside-down, so it is standing on its lid, so the products drops down as you use it, making it easy to use up every last drop of product.

Both products have the most gorgeous refreshing smell of pink grapefruit, which as a lover of anything citrus scented, instantly made me fall in love with these products. It is such a nice boost in the morning.

Both products are dermatologist tested, oil-free, alcohol free, and non-comedogenic, which is also always a positive.

At $13.99 each, the Deep Clean Revitalising Pink Grapefruit Daily Scrub and Foam Cleanser are with 175ml for the cleanser, and 100ml for the scrub slightly smaller than other products in the same category, yet I still feel that they are both well priced.

What I Like:
  • The gorgeous pink grapefruit scent
  • The design of the bottles and the girly pink colour
  • That they leave my skin clean deep down every pore without drying it out
  • Great value for money
  • Readily available at supermarkets and in Priceline

What I Don’t Like
  • They contain fragrance, it would be lovely if the gorgeous scent was natural coming from the grapefruit extracts
  • The products also contain parabens

Overall, these are great budget priced products that smell amazing and are effective thanks to containing natural salicylic acid. I would not hesitate purchasing either the Foam Cleanser or the Daily Scrub again.
