MARIE KONDO STYLE #DRAWERDETOX WITH ARBONNE RE9 ADVANCED - SKINCARE DECLUTTER

Did you know that the average woman is said to own 40 beauty products, yet use just 12 each day!! - Ok, as a beauty blogger, I actually admit to owning way way more than 40, and probably also have a more involved skincare routine than most, simply as I am always trying out different things to be able to share with you guys.

Because women are generally owning so many products, yet not using, in a bit of a Marie Kondo style, Arbonne is challenging Australians to take a hard look at their beauty drawers to make sure that all of their beauty products actually spark joy, has not expired, and does not contain any ingredients found on Arbonne’s “Not Allowed List”, in other words to a #DrawerDetox

There are a lot of products not allowed in Arbonne’s products, there are actually over 2000 banned ingredients, but here are their top 10;
  • Parabens - some of these have been linked to endocrine disruption that may increase the risk of certain cancers
  • Petrolatum, also known as petroleum jelly, which has been linked to cancer
  • Phthalates, including DBP, DMP, DEP and plasticising ingredients have been liked to endocrine disruption and may cause birth defects
  • Synthetic fragrances and dyes - these are petroleum derived and may contain potential hormone disruptors, allergens and environmental toxins
  • Sodium Laureate Sulphate (SLES) and sodium laurel sulphate (SLS) can cause sin irritation and allergic reactions
  • Triclosan, and antibacterial agent hat can cause skin irritation and linked to endocrine disruption, and is also bioacccumulative and potentially toxic to aquatic organisms
  • Ethanolamines (MEA/DEA/TEA), which are used as emulsifiers, foaming agents or pH adjusters, and linked to organ system toxicity, cancer and environmental concern of bioaccumulation
  • Talc which can be contaminated with asbestos fibres which possess the risks for respiratory toxicity and cancer
  • Hydroquinone, a skin lightener that causes skin irritation and may be linked to certain cancers

In addition to editing out the beauty products containing the above ingredients, Arbonne also suggests looking at if the products are used daily or weekly, if they have expired and if they’re vegan friendly, and simply toss all those that are not!

Conducting such a #DrawerDetox will not only help improve the daily skincare routine, it will also help organise the bathroom drawers and very importantly help protect the environment and planet too.

To help me with the Detox, Arbonne also kindly sent me a selection of products to get me started, including

Arbonne RE9 Advanced Set with;
Smoothing Facial Cleanser
Regenrating Toner
Intensive Renewal Serum
Corrective Eye Cream
Restorative Cream SPF 15
Night Repair Cream

Arbonne Dissolve The Day
Arbonne RE9 Prepwork Gel Eye Masks
Arbonne Intelligence Pollution Defence CC Cream
Arbonne Makeup Primer
Arbonne Its a Long Story Mascara

The main ingredient in the Arbonne RE9 Advanced Line is vitamin C, to help rejuvenate skin appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. These products also contain AHA’s, to help remove dead skin cells and leave the skin softer, smoother and more glowing.

I have previously used some of the products from the Arbonne RE9 range - you can among others read about the Smoothing Facial Cleanser and the Regenerating Toner here and the Corrective Eye Cream here.

Overall, I have been so impressed with every one of the RE9 products I’ve tried. With ageing, yet combination skin prone to breakouts, I always struggle finding anti-ageing products that are not too heavy or rich for my skin, or make it breakout. And these simply don’t not least to the AHA that helps keep my pores clearer. I love how they overall help minimise my pigmentation, reduce my fine lines and just leave my skin looking healthier.

The Dissolve the Day Cleansing Cloths were new to me - I am not huge on cleansing wipes, except when I am travelling (so these can come with me to Europe next month!!). But a quick test of these, and I am quite impressed at how easy they remove my makeup, even long-wearing, and without drying out my skin. Rather they leave my skin feeling clean, soothed and hydrated. I also love the fact that they are eco-friendly and compostable.

Also new to me, were the Arbonne RE9 Prepwork Gel Eye Masks. These gel eye masks are made using among others Kakadu Plum with Vitamin C to main Tain moisture, reduce lines and restore a youthful glow. The also contain Strawberry, blackberry, raspberry, acai, cranberry, and blueberry extracts, for a healthy skin along with healthy and conditioned with hydration Caffeine to reduce the look of puffiness and the appearance of dark circles, and Niacinamide, a form of vitamin B3, add hydration and help brighten and even the skin tone.
And wearing these for just 5-10minutes, instantly helps soothe tree looking eyes, making the look more hydrated, less puffy and simply fresher and and more awake. Simply magical.

I ave long loved the Arbonne Makeup Primer, which I actually talked about 5 years ago (read it here). Since then, many new primers have come to the market, but as soon as I tried it again, it was instant love again!

Another long time love, is the Arbonne Perfecting Liquid Foundation (which you can read about here)
, as well as their Intelligence Pollution Defence CC Cream for days when I prefer a lighter coverage. This CC Cream boasts a massive benefits, including prime the skin, mattify and brighten the skin with a more even skin tone while also conceal blemishes and dark spots, minimise appearance of pores, soothe and hydrate the skin with botanicals. Phew! And surprisingly, this light CC Cream does cover redness and lighter pigmentation, and can be built up slightly too where needed, to also cover circles under the eyes, all while still looking natural. And while BB and CC Creams usually leave my combination skin looking greasy and shiny by lunchtime, this one, with the aid of the Arbonne Makeup Primer, manages to stay put, looking fresh and matte throughout the day.

It's a Long Story Mascara is another product I’ve been fan of for years - you can read my initial review here.

This is such a great mascara, and I love how I can always rely on it to give me a nice look with long thick and glossy lashes that simply stay put, even on rainy days, and without irritating my sensitive eyes.

Arbonne really has got some amazing products. No they are not the cheapest, but they are effective, and deliver exactly as they promise, plus they're free from all the nasties. Really worth a try!
