PRODUCT REVIEW - THE ORDINARY LACTIC ACID 10% + HA AND MATRIXYL 10% + HA FROM TVSN

Have you heard that TVSN is now stocking The Ordinary?! I have heard a lot about the brand, that has become known for its affordability, yet efficient products, so I was very excited when a couple of products landed on my desk.

Thanks to TVSN, I was sent;

  • The Ordinary Matrixyl 10% + HA*
  • The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA*

The Ordinary Matrixyl 10% + HA a is serum that is designed for all skin types to help fight dull and dehydrated skin ,while improving the look of wrinkles and loss of firmness and nourish and deeply hydrate the skin, makes it plumper and more youthful looking.

It contains Matrixyl™ 3000 and Matrixyl™ synthe’6™ in a Hyaluronic Acid delivery system.These

The serum can be used all over the face including around the eyes, and of course on the neck and décolleté too.

It can be used both morning and evening, by applying a few drops on clean skin, prior to other face oils, serums and moisturiser. The serum has a light consistency, and absorbs quickly without any stickiness.

I’ve been using it both morning and evening, and like how it is so light on my combination skin, and adds intense moisture and nourishment, but without making my skin feel greasy, clogging up my pores or making my skin break out.

My skin is clearly enjoying the extra boost of moisture, and while I am yet to see major difference in terms of lines and wrinkles, but my skin is looking more plump and glowing, so it’s clearly working.

The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA is an alpha hydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin, and clear it from dead skin cells and blocked pores. It also contains purified Tasmanian pepperberry to reduce any signs of inflammation and sensitivity often associated with exfoliation.

It is designed for all skin types, to use as age prevention and fight the signs of ageing including pigmentation, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, dull, dry and dehydrated skin, along with acne, breakouts.

I’ve been been using it a few times a week at night (it can make the skin a little sun sensitive), and have been quite enjoying it. You just need a little bit padded into the skin on clean skin, prior to your usual moisturiser. It has a slight tingling on first application, but it goes away quickly, and personally I don’t mind at all as I see it as a sign that it is working its magic.

I have not experienced any dryness or irritation from using it, but there is a milder version, 5% available for those with more sensitive skin.

In the mornings after use, I find that my combination skin is clearly softer and smoother, and has a nice glow, no doubt thanks to all the dead skin cells being removed. I also find that it helping reduce the appearance of especially marks from recent blemishes and acne. It is still too early days to say if it has made any difference to my pigmentation, but overall it is making my skin look more even, and also more refined, while not causing any further breakouts, so its a big winner for me.

Overall these products are really great, and especially when you consider they very low price. No, they are not the best I have ever used - but I am also comparing them to products that cost 5+ times more, and there’s the difference. However, I am really impressed that The Ordinary can produce and sell products at this low cost, and I love the fact that everyone can afford these. It goes to show that skin care does not have to be expensive. And in addition, I also really love that the products are free from parabens, silicone, and artificial colours and fragrances as well as they are cruelty free.

Of these two, I particularly loved the Lactic Acid, and will no doubt purchase that one again, as well as I am now keen to explore their other products including in particular their Retinols and glycolic acids,
