PRODUCT REVIEW: ARBONNE GENIUS ULTRA

If you regularly tune into the BLH Blog, You'd know that I by now have put quite a few products from Arbonne to the test (you can check them all out via the Product Directory), and common for all, is that they are really great products, so when one of their newest launches, the Arbonne Genius Ultra Skincare Device landed on my desk, I was naturally excited. I put it to the test using the Arbonne RE9 intensive Renewal Serum and the RE9 Advanced Lifting and Contouring Eye Cream and the RE9 Age-Defying Neck Cream.

The Arbonne Genius Ultra Skincare device is using a gentle ultrasound technology to support the application of Arbonne skincare products, to ensure even better results compared to using the products on their own applied with you fingers.

Arbonne claims that products, when applied with the fingers, is applied unevenly, thanks to the unevenness of the skin, but with the Genius Ultra, the gentle sound waves and the tip that warms up slightly, helps push the skincare more evenly into the skin layers, and this  ismaximising the performance of the products.

The Arbonne Genius Ultra features among others;

• 300,000 waves per second, to help skincare absorb better into the skin
• It has an automatic time shut-off after one minute, but has been designed to be used for 5-6 minutes of continuous use
• It has three different levels of warmth (32C, 34C or 36C), along with gentle vibration for a customised personal comfort
• It has a patent pending tip that makes it easier to reach difficult areas such as inner corner of the eye and corner of the nose.
• It is gentle on the skin, and gives a soothing sensation
• It is suitable for all skin types
• It is dermatologist tested

It is recommended to use the Genius Ultra after applying serum and eye cream, and a minimum of once per day, but can be used as much as your skincare routine suggests. It is also suitable to be used with all types of skincare, with the exception of those containing sunscreen or acne formulations, as it may irritate the skin as a result.

I put the Arbonne Genius Ultra Skincare Device to the test using the Arbonne RE9 intensive Renewal Serum and the RE9 Advanced Lifting and Contouring Eye Cream and the RE9 Age-Defying Neck Cream.

First a quick rundown on the products..

The Arbonne RE9 intensive Renewal Serum is a concentrated serum contains among others ingredients that promises to support the development of collagen, as well as help the skin retain moisture, all while visibly firming and lifting the skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines, thanks to containing among others algae extract, vitamin C and sea buckthorn oil.

It also contains 2% AHA/BHA which helps soften the skin, and also give it a gently buff away the dead skin cells on the skin's surface. With my combination skin prone to breakouts, I always fear that intensive serums and creams will make my skin congested and make it breakout, but that is not the case with this serum. In actual fact, I feel that the added AHA/BHA has helped clear up existing breakouts, and keep my skin clear, and keeping it more even toned and glowing. I love that the serum has a very light consistency, that absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving it soft and smooth.

The Arbonne RE9 Advanced Lifting and Contouring Eye Cream promises to help the eye area look firmer and tighter, and the skin also more plumb and with fine lines minimised, due to the added vitamin C, algae extracts as well as peony root and sea extracts, tri-peptides and sea buckthorn oil. The eye cream has a very light consistency, yet it feels very intensely moisturing, without feeling too heavy around the sensitive eyes. I love it has almost no scent, as my eyes are very sensitive and overly fragranced products around my eye area often makes my eyes water. I love how it absorbs immediately without any greasiness, so it is also great for use under makeup during the day. It comes in the cutest little 'Tiffany-blue' jar with a floral design on the silver lid (you'll see the same pattern on the box that holds the jar).

Finally, the Arbonne RE9 Age-Defying Neck Cream is a rich and very intense moisturiser intended for the neck and décolleté, promising to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Due to the richness of the cream, it does take a few moments to absorb fully into the skin, but once it has, it does leave the skin feeling velvety soft and smooth, and my neglected décolleté is clearly enjoying the intense TLC, quickly looking more plumb and youthful.


Overall, I have enjoyed using these products from Arbonne, and generally I feel they've made my skin feel soft, smooth and generally looking healthier, more glowing and radiant, and also younger looking, as fine lines really do appear reduced, in particularly around my eye area, but also on my forehead as well as that annoying frown line between my brows. But I used them in combination with the Arbonne Genius Ultra, so it is naturally difficult to say how the products would fare on their own, or how the Genius Ultra has improved the products efficacy.

I found the Genius Ultra very easy to use, and I generally used it morning and night for a few minutes in combination with the three products above, although I must admit that if I was in a hurry, I did skip using it on my décolleté and neck, as the larger area, naturally does mean that the process takes a fair bit longer than if using it on your face only.

Once turned on, I can set the warmth level, and generally I preferred the medium setting (34C), and then used it by massaging in the serums and creams in circular motions until they were fully absorbed into the skin. The Genius does switch off automatically after one minute, but you simply need to turn it on again to continue with remaining areas.

And I have to say that after now having used the Arbonne Genius Ultra for over a month, that it has definitely made my skin more glowing and radiant, but also softer and smoother, and in general more rested and youthful. Again, unsure if it is the skincare products on their own, but I chose to believe that the ultrasound waves, the gentle vibration and the heat helps the skin absorb the products better and are hence more beneficial for the skin. So overall I am really impressed with the Genius, as this really is a genius way to applying your skincare products for maximum results!!

PRODUCT REVIEW: ARBONNE SMOOTHED OVER LIPSTICKS IN LOTUS, FLORA, ASTER AND CURRANT

As you probably know by now, I've developed quite the love affair with Arbonne, simply because every single product that I've put to the test has been amazing. So today I'm going to talk a little more about the Arbonne Smoothed Over Lipsticks… 

The Arbonne Smoothed Over Lipstick is a moisturising long-wearing lipstick that contains among others botanicals such as edelweiss plant to soothe and moisturise dehydrated lips, and mix of watermelon fruit, lentil and apple extracts to give the lips a volumising effect.

I've put four different shades of red to the test; 

• Lotus
• Flora
• Aster
• Currant

It is a little difficult to describe these shades, because a few of them are somewhat similar, only slightly darker/lighter, but I’ll give it a shot…

The shade Lotus is the lightest shade in the lineup, and it is a slightly pinkish shaded mauve, while the shade Flora is also a mauve shade, only it is slightly darker and has a slightly berry tone. Then there's the Aster, which is in the same kind of shade, but is slightly darker again a slightly purple-ish berry tone. Finally, the Currant shade stands out a little is this line up, as it is a brighter red shade.

Common for all shades is that they are extremely pigmented, and just one swipe gives you full colour payoff, with a nice satin-glossy finish and they really does feel lovely and soft on the lips.

Because they are so pigmented, it also means that wear is slightly longer than most other moisturising formulas, and I manage to get about 4-5 hours wear, without eating or drinking - as the lipsticks do transfer onto glasses and mugs and hence when you drink.

The shades do fade nice and evenly, and even when they are just about gone, they still leave behind a touch of stain on the lips, and all along leaves the lips feeling soft and nourished.

I can be a little picky with the lipstick shades I like to wear, but I am absolutely loving all of these shades, and finding it hard to pick a favourite. And there are a massive 16 shades in the range, so there is a shade for every taste and occasion too.

My only negative is that these lipsticks are only available online, so you cannot just go to a shop and swatch them on your hand before buying, which I can imagine might be a deterrent for many - but trust me, these lipsticks are so beautiful to wear that you just won't be disappointed!

PRODUCT REVIEW: ARBONNE PURE VIBRANCE COLORLAST SERUM AND HAIR SPRAY

You may know that I am quite the fan of Arbonne. Over the years I've had the pleasure of trying out quite an array of different products from their ranges (you can find links to all via my product directory), but today it is the first time I put some of their hair care products to the test. Here I've been trying the Arbonne Pure Vibrance ColorLast Hair Serum and Hair Spray. 

These products were sent to me by the lovely Natalie Xylas, an independent Arbonne Consultant (see below for her contact details) very long time ago - but then before I knew it, my little boy ended up in hospital for almost five months, - and the day he came home from we moved into our new house. Talk about chaos. And with me being at the hospital all the time with our little boy, also meant that my husband had been packing all the boxes, and I had no idea where to find anything. And for months after our little boy came home from hospital, life was still so hectic, getting settled into our new house, taking our boy to the hospital 3+ times a week for checkup, and spending some much needed time with our then 2.5 year old that I had spent way too little time with during the months in hospital. Needless to say that blogging was not priority, and it has taken me months to catch up.. But I'm now almost there!



Anyway, enough babbling, let's start talking about the Arbonne Pure Vibrance ColorLast Hair Serum. I have long thick hair which I was every few days, and I rely on hair serums to help keep my hair looking good. This serum has a built-in colour fade technology to protect your hair colour from fading, at the same time as it helps control frizz, protect from heat styling damage and adds shine to the hair.

The Hair Serum comes in a convenient pump bottle and just a few small pumps is sufficient for my long hair. The serum is very light for an oil, and it absorbs into the hair immediately, leaving it incredibly soft and shiny. It also makes my dry ends look healthier and controls frizz and those annoying flyaways too.

The serum contains among others argan oil, orange and mandarin peel oil and lavender oil to add extra moisture to the hair, abyssinian oil to condition, add shine and prevent hair breakage. It also contains rice extract to help protect and enhance hair colour while providing protection against hair breakage and add strength to hair, while Hawaiian white ginger root repairs and strengthens damaged hair and Horsetail extract helps fortify hair and prevents hair breakage.

This hair serum is so beautiful and I love how it makes my hair look and feel, and I love that it can be used in both wet and dry hair. And as an added bonus it also has the divine floral fragrance that luckily keeps lingering in my hair for long after I've applied it. 

Then there's the Arbonne Pure Vibrance ColorLast Hair Spray, which is a non-flaky, alcohol free hair spray that can create tousled, touchable soft hair, with a lasting flexible hold. It also contains the ColorLast technology to protect colour treated hair, keeping it looking vibrant.

The Hair Spray contains among others panthenol to add moisture to the hair and keep hair from breaking, linseed extract to preserve hair colour and vicia faba seed extract to promote fuller looking hair. It also contains artichoke leaf extract to protect the integrity of the hair and promote shine, and like the serum, it also contains rice extract, orange and mandarin peel oil, Hawaiian white ginger and horsetail extract to protect hair colour and prevents hair breakage, repair, strengthen hair and fortify the hair.

I like that this hair spray, unlike most other hair sprays, come in an aerosol can. And as promised, it really does give my hair hold and keeps those flyaways controlled too, while not making my hair feel stiff - it is simply soft and flexible - and it still lasts all day. Like the serum, the hair spray, also smells amazing, although the fragrance unfortunately is not quite as strong as the serum.


Both products come in beautiful purple bottles, that are ever so girlie and look stunning in the bathroom too.

So there you go, - my first time trying Arbonne haircare products, and needless to say that I am not disappointed, Arbonne really doesn't fail to impress me - I love these products, and will be so sad the day I finish these products.

PRODUCT REVIEW: ARBONNE IT'S ALL IN TH EYES EYE SHADOWS AND IT'S A LONG STORY MASCARA

Today I'd like to put focus on the Arbonne It's all in the Eyes Eye Shadows and the It's a Long Story Mascara.

 

 

 

The Arbonne It’s All in the Eyes Eye Shadows, which is a brand new range of mineral and botanically infused eye shadows. The collection contains 24 richly pigmented shades that include shimmer, satin and matte finishes for colour that lasts throughout the day. These eyeshadows contain among others hibiscus extract to help promote the appearance of supple and radiant-looking skin, as well as eyebright extract to help deliver moisturising benefits to soothe the eye area exposed to environmental dryness. 

These shadows are beautifully soft to work with, are very pigmented, and blend really easy, for a result that stays put all day long without fallout or settling into fine lines around the eye. I love that can purchase the eye shadows individually, but also have the option of pre-paired duos, or you can simply make up your own combination in a magnetic quad case. As the quad I was give was already made up for me, I am actually unsure of the actual shade names, but they are shades I would have picked myself, matte dark aubergine, matte dark chocolate, satin apricot and a shimmery nude, all of which work beautifully both on their own for a simple look or in any combination for a more dramatic smoky eye. And I do love that you can put together an eyeshadow palette exactly how you like it, so you don't end up shades that you don't like or don't use.

The It's a Long Story Mascara has been made with polypeptides, bamboo extract and pro-vitamins to pamper, condition and nurture the lashes, promising to promote the appearance of longer-looking lashes. I don't actually wear mascara every day at the moment, so it is therefore difficult to say if the mascara has made any difference to the look of my lashes, but regardless I really like this mascara. It easily defines and separates the lashes without clumping them together, and just one coat makes them look quite long and glossy, while a few additional coats easily builds up both length and volume. I also love that the mascara is waterproof and doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes.

PRODUCT REVIEW: ARBONNE RE9 SMOOTHING FACIAL CLEANSER AND REGENERATING TONER AND NOURISHING FACIAL OIL

Today I'm going to talk about a couple of products from Arbonne that I've been putting to the test lately, which includes the RE9 Smoothing Facial Cleaner, the RE9 Regenerating Toner, and the Nourishing Facial Oil. And if you're regularly stopping by my little blog, you'll know that I've always been very impressed with Arbonne and the products that I've tried, so needless to say that I was also very happy putting these to the test.

Let's start with the Arbonne RE9 Smoothing Facial Cleanser. The RE9 range gets its name from the 9 potent ingredients that have been used in the products, which includes algae extract, vitamin C, bio-hydria complex, vitaspheres, elhibin, stimu-tex, alpha lipoic acid, copper, peptide and alpha and beta hydroxyl acids. Combining these ingredients with botanical ingredients including pineapple and papaya enzymes, marine lavender extract, beech tree bud extracts and kudzu root extract claims to “help support collagen and elastin production, nurturing the skin, leaving it softer and hydrated”.

This thick and rich foaming cleanser is easily washes away all makeup, except for my waterproof which I regardless still prefer to remove with a separate eye makeup remover first. The cleanser is very gentle, and does leave my skin feeling soft and smooth, and not dry or stripped from essential oils unlike many other cleansers. I love that it comes in an easy to use pump bottle, and that it has a fresh gentle scent of orange.

I then follow with the Arbonne RE9 Regenerating Toner, which I have actually previously in full, which you can see here. In short, this cleanser in a convenient pump bottle, making it super easy to apply after cleansing the skin - but of course, as you spray it onto the skin, unlike other toners that you swipe across the skin with a cotton pad, this one doesn't remove any remaining makeup or cleanser, but rather it soothes and refreshes the skin and add extra moisture and vitamins and helps regenerate the skin. In addition, I have also enjoyed using it on top of my makeup throughout the day to freshen it up. Like the RE9 Cleanser it also contains the 9 potent ingredients, and it does feel lovely on the skin, and I love the fact that it too has anti-ageing properties and is so gentle that it doesn't strip my skin with harsh ingredients and alcohol. 

Finally, there's Arbonne Nourishing Face Oil which contains among others omega fatty acids 3 and 6 and a super antioxidants, and promises to help support the skin, giving it intense hydration and moisture, improve the look of the skin's texture, and give the skin a more illuminated, radiant and even-toned complexion. With my combination ski, I am always concerned when I use not just oils, but any concentrated products on my skin, as they have shown to often quickly make my skin very congested and make it breakout. But thankfully that has not been the case with this oil, which is very light in consistency, and hence absorbs quickly into the skin without any greasiness. And it is very concentrated too, so you only need about 2-3 drops to cover your full face and neck.

The Nourishing Face Oil comes in a gorgeous white glass bottle with a convenient dropper that makes it easy to dispense just the amount of product needed. It has a slightly odd, slightly chemical scent that I'm not particularly fond off, but luckily it does fade rather quickly so it's not really an issue.

After having used the oil for a few weeks, prior to my usual moisturiser morning and night, I can definitely see that it has added intense moisture and nourishment to my skin, as it does look plumper and consequently also more radiant and glowing. I am not sure if it has made any significant difference to evening out my patchy and pigmented skin tone, but I'd also be surprised if a skincare product could correct in just a few weeks, what has been developing over many many years!

Overall I have yet again enjoyed trying out these products from Arbonne. The RE9 Cleanser and Toner are really lovely, and great for my ageing skin, and combined with the Nourishing Oil, my skin is without a doubt looking a little healthier and radiant, and hence also more well-rested and younger too.

BRAND FOCUS: ARBONNE MAKEUP

Today I'd like to put focus on a range of makeup products from Arbonne. I have previously tried several products from the brand, both skincare, body care, haircare and makeup and so far I have been very impressed with the quality of all products.

Let me start with the Arbonne Makeup Primer, which I have actually previously tried and reviewed (you can see my original review here), and my opinion of this primer hasn't changed one bit.

This primer is light and instantly makes the skin feel silky soft and smooth. Using foundation afterwards makes it stay looking nice for longer, and I feel that I need to use less foundation to get an even look. I initially tried this primer in the midst of summer and know for a fact that it made my makeup stay put even on the most humid Melbourne summers day, so obviously it also performs well during winter.

The primer is light and leaves the skin feeling silky soft and smooth, and you can see the improvement in the skin’s appearance immediately as it hides flaws in the skin.

Following with foundation, it is not only easier to apply, it simply glides on so much easier, I guess as all ‘nooks n’ crannies’ have already been filled by the primer. But I also feel that I need to use much less foundation to achieve the same evenness of my skin and cover pigmentation, redness and blemishes, all thanks to the primer. With the primer, my skin is simply looking more flawless than I could ever dream off. Without a doubt one of the best primers I’ve tried, as it simply helps me extend the life of my makeup and give me a more even, and smooth complexion. Highly recommended.

I admit to usually preferring a medium to full coverage foundation, but on casual days, I do reach for lighter coverage, and the Arbonne CC Cream has been one of those. It boasts a whole 10 benefits, including prime the skin, mattify and brighten the skin with amore even skin tone while also conceal blemishes and dark spots, minimise appearance of pores, soothe and hydrate the skin with botanicals. Phew! And surprisingly, this light CC Cream does cover redness and lighter pigmentation, and can be built up slightly too where needed, all while still looking natural. And while BB and CC Creams usually leave my combination skin looking greasy and shiny by lunchtime, this one, with the aid of the Arbonne Makeup Primer, manages to stay put, looking fresh and matte throughout the day.

Next are the Arbonne It’s All in the Eyes Eye Shadows, which is a new line of mineral and botanically infused eye shadows. Unfortunately, as most other moisturising lipsticks, it doesn't have the longest wear, and it does transfer onto glasses and mugs when you drink, but without eating or drinking you do get 4+ hours of wear before its gone, and even so it does fade nice and evenly leaving behind a touch of stain on the lips. But it also leaves my lips feeling soft and nourished, so I really don't mind at all having to reapply.

PRODUCT REVIEW: ARBONNE SEASOURCE DETOX SPA RENEWING BODY GELEE

If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’d know that I love the products from Arbonne. They are simply of such a high quality and always live up to their promise, so when I was asked to trial the Arbonne Seasource Detox Spa Renewing Body Gelee, I happily accepted. Here are my thoughts;

This Renewing Body Gelee from the Arbonne Seasource Detox Renewing, which is designed to detox the skin from the impurities it encounters and accumulates during the day. The actual gelee is a cross between cream and gel and it is so light. Arbonne recommends that it is perfect to use after being in the sun, but I didn’t get this until summer was basically over, and besides being pregnant, I’ve been avoiding extended time in the sun this summer as it simply made me feel uncomfortable and dizzy. But that doesn’t meant that I haven’t been enjoying using the Body Gelee.
- The Body Gelee contains a mixture of botanical ingredients, including Bladderwrack Extract to soften, detox and soothe the skin

- Sea Plant Extract, an antioxidant and humectant that provides hydration to the skin

- Sea Algae that naturally re-mineralises and exfoliates the skin

- Sea Fennel to add moisture to the skin

- Micro-Algae, which is high multivitamin, protein and amino acid content to restore the skin

- Laminaria Digitata, a hydrating antioxidant that encourages efficient functioning of the body


The Body Gelee has the most beautiful and refreshing and slightly zesty scent too, that continues to linger on the skin for some time.

Being so light, the Gelee absorbs instantly into the skin, leaving it so soft and smooth, and feeling so deeply hydrated, with no greasiness or stickiness in sight. And I really love the cooling and soothing feeling the gelee gives the skin immediately on application, and can only imagine how lovely it would be after a day on the beach – but I have also been enjoying it to massage into my growing pregnant bump, which as the weeks has gone on, has gone more and more itchy as it has grown and the skin stretched! I don’t normally suffer with skin irritations, but for some reason I do in the ladder months of pregnancy, which I also did when expecting our first! But this Renewing Body Gelee simply instantly provides soothing relief, so it has become a habit for me to massage it in to especially my tummy after not only my shower in the morning, but also at night as I sit on the couch and watch a bit of telly before bed – and well, so far, it has stopped me from scratching the skin on my tummy to bits during the night!

The light green cream comes in a heavy duty plastic tub with a blue metallic lid, and at $68 it is on the expensive side – but that said, the tub also contains a generous 354ml, and is quite concentrated too, so you don’t need to apply a lot at the time!

Overall I am really enjoying using this Renewing Body Gelee, which again is no surprise as so far I’m yet to try an Arbonne product I didn’t like – so if you can afford the splurge, I certainly wouldn’t hesitate recommending it to you, as well as I wouldn’t hesitate trialling any of the other products in the Seasource Detox Spa Range!

PRODUCT REVIEW: ARBONNE RE9 ADVANCED INSTANT LIFT GEL

Today I’d like to share with you an amazing anti-ageing products from Arbonne that I was trialling before I got pregnant, the RE9 Advanced Instant Lift Gel*

What I Say:
I have previously tried a couple of the different products in the RE9 Advanced skincare range including the Corrective Eye Cream and the Regenerating Toner, and as they are both fantastic products, I was excited to be trialling the Instant Lift Gel as well.

Unfortunately I had to stop using the product as I got pregnant as it contains Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), which is a huge no-no during pregnancy, but I did manage to use it for several weeks, long enough to be able to form an opinion..

The RE9 Advanced Instant Lift Gel is a gel that is intended to be used prior to your serum and moisturiser to make the skin feel tighter and firmer.

The fruity orange scented light gel contains among others algae extract and peptides that supports collagen through moisturisation to help diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and enhance the skin smoothness.

The gel is very light and quite concentrated too, so you only need to use a tiny amount to cover the whole face. It takes a minute or two to absorb into the skin, but once it has, you can both see and feel the tightening effect that stays even after you’ve applied your usual serum and moisturiser. And even after applying your makeup, I love the visible results – my skin simply looks so much smoother with less fine lines – almost as if I have just come back from a very relaxing holiday or have had a very long beauty sleep.

So how did the Lift Gel perform in the long run – well after using it daily in the morning for a few weeks, I have to admit that I am failing to see any permanent difference to the appearance of fine lines ad wrinkles in my skin, and the instant lifting effect sadly seems to be only cosmetic

The Lift Gel does contains among others Vitamin A, and other ingredients to help to fight the signs of ageing, so it may be that I have just not used it for a long enough period.

At $71 it is not exactly cheap, and especially considering it is an extra step, in addition to your serum and moisturiser – but I really I love the instant look and feel of my skin when I use it, so I will definitely be pulling it out and using it again for special occasions when I’ve given birth and I am able to use it again.

PRODUCT REVIEW: ARBONNE MAKEUP PRIMER

If you are a regular reader of my blog you’d know that from the very day I was introduced to the brand Arbonne I absolutely feel in love with the products, and I so wish that I’d come across it earlier. I have tried a few different products by now and a few remains my favourites, including the RE9 Anti-Ageing range for face and body, the Got You Covered Mineral Foundation, and the Arbonne Perfecting Liquid Foundation, the ladder which is nothing short of amazing. And I don’t think that I am the only one thinking that – you know, in my just over two years of blogging I have done over 750 posts, and my review of the Arbonne Perfecting Liquid Foundation is my second most read post, even in spite of being posted in January 2013, over two years ago!! If you haven’t yet seen it, you can see it here!
Anyway, when I was also asked to trial the Arbonne Makeup Primer, I naturally happily accepted, here are my thoughts;

What I Say:
With combination skin I am always struggling to get my makeup to stay put all day, and since discovering primers I have never looked back, as a good one simply means that I can avoid the dreaded shine by lunch time, and avoid that my makeup is simply sliding off my face.

The Arbonne Makeup Primer promises to provide a flawless looking complexion and texture while visible diminishing the look of fine lines and surface imperfection. It also helps minimise the appearance of pores and make the makeup last longer and stay true throughout the day.

It contains among others hyaluronic filling spheres to help prime the skin and create a soft canvas, as well as it contains horsetail extract, green tea leaf extract and grape seed extract to condition the skin as you wear it.

The silicone based primer comes in a stylish black pump bottle that makes it easy to dispense just the amount of product you need. The white primer has next to no scent and it has a silky soft texture and you only need the tiniest amount, in fact about a pea-sized amount for your whole face is more than sufficient. And I really like that it, unlike other primers I’ve tried, is so light and weightless. It absorbs into the skin instantly, leaving your skin feel silky soft and smooth, and you can see the improvement in the skin’s appearance immediately as it hides flaws in the skin.

Following with foundation, it is not only easier to apply, it simply glides on so much easier, I guess as all ‘nooks n’ crannies’ have already been filled by the primer. But I also feel that I need to use much less foundation to achieve the same evenness of my skin and cover pigmentation, redness and blemishes, all thanks to the primer. With the primer, my skin is simply looking more flawless than I could ever dream off.

But how did the primer perform. Even on a very hot and humid Melbourne day, I am impressed to say that my skin stayed looking matte all day, with absolutely no shine in sight. My makeup is simply looking just at nice at night as when I first apply it in the morning.

Overall this is an incredible primer, one of the best I’ve tried, as it simply helps me extend the life of my makeup and give me a more even, and smooth complexion. Highly recommended.

PRODUCT REVIEW: ARBONNE GOT YOU COVERED MINERAL POWDER FOUNDATON

I have to be completely honest and admit that I until now have not been a huge fan of powder foundations. Maybe because I’m a bit of a mess-head and usually get it everywhere and it is such a pain to clean up afterwards, plus I hate how much product I waste. But also because I feel that it takes longer to apply, time you often haven’t got when you’ve got a one-year old. But with everyone saying that you get the nicest finish with powder foundations, I just couldn’t pass up on the opportunity when I was asked if I wanted to trial the new Arbonne Got You Covered Mineral Powder Foundation*, here are my thoughts;

What I Say:

The powder foundations I’ve previously tried haven’t offered far enough coverage for my liking, hardly sufficient to cover my pigmentation, acne scarring and any blemishes, so I wasn’t particularly hopeful that this foundation from Arbonne would be any different. But guess with a name like Got You Covered, I should have known better as this foundation gives you the nicest medium coverage easily covering everything I want it to cover, while still leaving it looking natural and not caked on my skin. And if you really want extra coverage, it does allow you to build it up.

And on the days I feel I want even more coverage, I simply apply it on top of my favourite BB cream, and the beauty is that, while I always struggle to get my BB cream to stay put, used in conjunction with this Powder Foundation it lasts considerably longer too.

I tried the shade Nude which is a perfect match to my medium beige skin tone, and I found the powder is best applied with a soft Kabuki brush, and yes, it does take a while to really get the hang of it, but once you do, it is actually rather easy, and it blends so easily on the skin.

I have combination skin, so I am used to foundations not staying put all day, but used with a primer first, I was well into the afternoon before I felt I needed a touch up. It has a nice natural matte finish


that doesn’t settle into my fine lines, and the colour stays true throughout the day without changing.

The Powder Foundation has SPF15, which is great, although I could wish that this was a little higher. It comes in a round clear plastic powder jar with a black screw lid, which is simple and classic. When I first opened it, unfortunately powder and took off the seal to the powder, it flew everywhere, clearly having been a little shaken up during transport. When using it, luckily it does have a mesh sifter over the powder to control the amount of powder getting out at a time, and while this does work, I would personally like it to restrict a little more.

After a few goes I really got the hand of using this powder without getting it everywhere, and not I am in love with the natural and matte looking finish it gives my skin, and the fact that you can build up coverage as needed. And I love that the powder is free from oil, talc and dyes and doesn’t make my skin break out. Thanks Arbonne for opening up my eyes to Powder Foundation.

What I Say:

If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’d know I absolutely adore the Arbonne products. Every single item I’ve tried hasn’t failed to impress me, including the Perfecting Liquid Foundation the Bronzer and the Mascara, so needless to say that I was excited when the Country Garden Palette arrived at my doorstep.

The palette has been inspired by the English countryside, capturing the essence of whimsical, bloom-filled English country gardens not only with the pale green floral cover, but also with the minimalist delicate colours included in the palette.

The Country Garden Palette comes with a four eye shadows in the shades Bluebell, Woodrose, Birch and Willow, a Summerset Meadow Blush and Bronzer Duo and a Sheer Moisture Lipstick in the shade Rosebud.

The eye shadows in the palette complement each other perfectly, and are as perfect to use on their own as combined in any combination you like. They can give you a delicate look, but as they are also very pigmented, you can easily build up the darker colours for a bolder look, so the eye shadows can easily take you from day to night. And while I prefer to use my own makeup brushes, it is still lovely that a brush is included in the palette.

The blush has a lovely rosy shade and gives a nice high sheen, so it is also perfect to use as a highlighter. The bronzer is perfect for using on the top of your cheek bones, forehead and to give your skin a nice sun-kissed glow that looks natural with just the right amount of sheen.

 

The lipstick has a beautiful sweet scent and is so lovely and moisturising on the lips, and the Rosebud shade is sheer on the lips, so perfect for casual days out.

 

 This palette is a true all-in-one palette, perfect for both the handbag for touch-ups on the go, or for holiday. There is simply everything you need in this palate for a romantic and feminine look, so it will be absolutely perfect as we finally head towards spring and summer.
