As a beauty blogger I am very lucky to get to try a lot of different products, but once I’ve finished trialling something, there are brands that I keep reverting to again and again which for me are brands such as Medik8 - for the pure reason that their skincare products simply work so incredibly well for my ageing, pigmented, blemish prone skin.
- Medik8 Surface Radiance Cleanse*
- Medik8 Hydr8 B5 Intense*
- Medik8 Retinol 10TR+ Intense*
Let’s start with the Medik8 Surface Radiance Cleanse, which has actually been around for some time, but I just haven’t tried until now, sadly, as from the very first use, I’ve been in love with it.
This cleanser is a purifying daily wash, so it is perfect for my blemish prone skin. It contains a mix of AHA’s from mandelic and lactic acid to breakout down and exfoliate away the dead skin cells on the upper layers of the skin, while the BHA from the salicylic acid goes to work deeper down the pores to break down blockages within the pores that cause congestion and blemishes.
In addition, the cleanser also contains glycerin to help keep the skin hydrated along with Mangosteen Peel Extract with antioxidants to help protect the skin from premature ageing.
I’ve been using it in the mornings as well as in the evenings, as my second cleanse after removing my makeup, and after each use, I can both see and feel how much softer my skin is to the touch, but also looking so much clearer, fresher and brighter.
Sometimes I have also been massaging a small amount into my dry skin, and leaving it on my skin for the two minutes while I brush my teeth at night for a slightly more intense and deeper clean.
And while this cleanse is giving my skin a chemical exfoliation that is helping to keep my breakouts at bay, while also making my skin look more even, and all without drying out my skin or making it feel irritated. It has the most gorgeous gentle citrus scent that I absolutely adore.
Next up is the Medik8 Hydr8 B5 Intense, which is lightweight hyaluronic acid and B5 serum, providing maximum hydration to the skin.
The serum comes in a gorgeous purple bottle, and the actual serum has a pretty berry shade too thanks to the added saskatoon berry which help nourish the skin and protect its natural stores of hyaluronic acid to promote a more supple, plump and dewy complexion.
The serum also contains Multiweight Hyaluronic Acid that to keep the skin nourished and supple, Vitamin B5 to help the skin retain moisture and support the regeneration of skin cells, IT also contains Biosaccharide Gum to provide long-term hydration, Soy Extract to stimulate the natural production of hyaluronic acid, along with natural moisturising factors such as glycerin amino acids, lactic acids etc.
Can be used twice a day, morning and evening, after cleansing prior to your usual moisturiser, and I also love that I use it along with my beloved Vitamin A serum in the evening, by applying this one first.
With my combination skin, I never really feel that my skin is craving extra hydration, but after a week or so of using this morning and night, I could really tell the improvement it made to my skin, as it simply left it looking more plumped and refreshed and with a nice healthy glow.
I also love how it is so super light, so even though it is adding such intense moisture, it is still absorbing quickly into my skin, and without leaving my skin feeling sticky or tacky, which also means that it works perfectly under makeup too. I know my skin will be loving this Hydr8 B5 Intense Serum even more as we head to the colder months where my skin always tend to become a little drier.
Finally, there’s the Medik8 Retinol 10TR+ Intense, which I am so super excited about. I have been using the Medik8 Retinols for years, slowly building up in strength, from the 3RT, 6TR and 10TR, and so loving what retinol is doing for my my skin, helping both with my ageing issues by improving the appearance of my fine lines and wrinkles, reduce my pigmentation, while also being so beneficial for my breakouts helping to unclog my pores - so the release of this even stronger Medik8 Retinol 10TR+ Intense, was simply music to my ears.
I been using using it at night following the Medik8 Hydr8 B5 Intense. Like the Medik8 Retinol 10TR, the Medik8 Retinol 10TR+ Intense is oil based, yet, I am not sure if its me, but somehow it seems slightly lighter, which I certainly don’t mind. It has a Squalane base as the natural emollient to help deeply hydrate the skin and counter any drying effects from the retinol. In addition, it also contains Vitamin E to help fight free radicals on the skin and stabilise the retinol for optimal power, along with climbazole, a crystal compound, has been found to boost the activity of retinoids in the skin by blocking the enzyme that breaks down retinoic acid in the skin, to give the power of higher retinol percentage without the irritation. And then of course, it contains the 1% Retinol with its Time Release Technology that helps distribute the retinol evenly and slowly throughout the night to reduce any potential for irritation or redness.
And I am absolutely loving this intense version, and again, while my skin has been used to the 10TR version for some time, I do believe that I can both feel and see that this new intense version is even more powerful, as my skin is clearly looking clearer, more even, plump and glowing, and again without drying my skin out or making it irritated. Needless to say that I’m hooked!
