I have said it before, but I absolutely love eye shadow crayons. With two little kids, my own time to get ready is often limited, or I'll have two impatient little boys hanging off my legs. So I simply reply on beauty products that are quick and easy to use. And hence my love for eye shadow crayons. So needless to say that when a selection of the Mavala Eye Shadow Lumiere Crayons landed on my desk, I couldn't wait to try...
The Mavala Eye Shadow Lumiere Crayons are available in a massive 24 different luminous and sparking shades, and like all other eye shadow crayons it is simply a matter of a quick swipe and then blend it all out with your finger. The eye shadows can be used alone, or in any combination together.
The thick crayons have a soft and creamy consistency, which makes then so easy to apply without dragging on the sensitive eye lid, and they are also easy to blend. It takes a few moments for it to dry and set, so my suggestion is to do one eye at a time. And once set, the waterproof formula is staying put all day, even on my greasy eyelids there are no creasing, fading or sliding. It simply stays put, looking as good at night when I take it off as it did when first applied in the morning.
The eye shadows are made using among others botanical ingredients, soya oil with calendula extract, and are also suitable for sensitive skin thanks to their soothing, anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties.
I put six different shades shades to the test, including;
- Rose Glace - this is a pretty icy pink shade that works perfectly as a base too
- Ultra Violet - a gorgeous bright purple shade
- Prune Flambee - a stunning brown-ish plum shade
- Gris Cosmique - a lovely pale metallic grey shade
- Bleu Tempete - described as a stormy blue, but also as a medium blue tinged metallic grey
- Perle Noir - described as a black pearl, but a matte-ish black shade with minimal pearl
L-R: Rose Glace, Ultra Violet, Prune Flambee, Gris Cosmique, Bleu Tempete and Perle Noir |
These shades are all so beautiful, but needless to say that conservative me do prefer the more subtle shades such as the Rose Glaze, Prune Flambee, Gris Cosmique, and the Perle Noir. I know I'll be reaching for these crayons again and again, as I love not only how easy they are to apply, but also that they look incredible and simply do not budge all day. Again, there are a massive 24 shades in the range, so there is sure to be something for everyone. So make sure to check them out, you won't regret it.
