PRODUCT REVIEW: SLEEK COSMETICS

Today I'd like to chat a little about Sleek Cosmetics, which has recently become available here in Australia in Target. Previously I'd heard a lot about the budget friendly brand, but was yet to try any of the products, so I was very excited when a selection of their products landed on my desk.

One of the stand-outs was no doubt the Sleek i-Divine Eyeshadow Palettes in the shade Au Natural, which contains 12 shades ranging from an off-white to a black, with countless of beige, apricot, taupe and chocolate shades in between, and as someone who rarely uses anything but beige and brownish shades on my eyes, the colour selection in this palette is perfect. The shades range between matte, pearlescent and shimmery, so you can create anything from a basic day look to a smoky evening look, and the shades can of course be used individually on their own, or in any combination your heart desires.

Sleek claims that these eye shadows are super-pigmented and long-lasting, and I do agree with this, especially for the darker shades, while some of the lighter colours do come up a little sheer. As for wear, they have a reasonable wear, though they do settle a little into fine lines, but that's pretty standard for my combination skin, and nothing using an eyeshadow primer first can't fix.

What caught my eye next was the Sleek Face Contour Kit which contains a pressed contouring powder and a highlighter in one. The matte contouring powder helps sculpt and define the face, while the illuminating and shimmery highlighter helps highlight, so with this duo you an be one step closer to a chiselled cheeks, or a more slender nose! I got the Dark duo, which unfortunately is a tad dark for my medium beige skintone, containing a dark brown contouring powder and an apricot shaded highlighter - no denying that the light or the medium kit would have been a better match, that said, I can still make it work by applying a little less. Each of the powders are soft and applies easily, and can also easily be built up to be quite intense if desired.

Next up is the Sleek Blush in Pixie Pink which is a bright pink shade. I wouldn't normally purchase such a bright shade myself, as it does look a little too bold in the packaging, and I usually prefer a more muted dusty rose shade, but I am pleasantly surprised at how much 'fresher' it made my tired face look, making my cheeks looking very flushed. The blush applies matte, and is soft and can be built up if you like.

Finally, onto the lip products. The Sleek Matte Me Lipgloss in the shade Petal is a pale dusty rose shade, and it is incredibly light with an almost powdery feel. And as it is so light, you almost can't tell that you are wearing. Very surprisingly, it is extremely long wearing, and just one coat is enough to make it last hours, and even when it has faded, it does so evenly, leaving a stained look on the lips. It does leave the lips feeling a little dry, but using a clear lip balm first does help significantly. And then finally, the Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Mystic, which is a bright fuchsia/purple shade, and definitely not a shade that usually wear, being a tad conservative. This lipstick also applies matte, and is also very pigmented, and consequently it also has a good wear of 5-6 hours before I feel I need to reapply. Again, it is a tad drying in the lips, so a slick of lip balm first, is always a good idea here too.

All the products come packaged in sleek, yep, sleep black matte slimline packaging, which is simple, yet stunning. The stand-out products from this batch, was for me the i-divine eye palette, as it simply contains shades I usually reach for. Also the blush as I'm really enjoying this shade and it is very different to anything else that I have in my makeup collection. I also really enjoy the lipgloss, and may look into getting my hands on a few additional shades. As for the Contour Kit and the Lipstick, unfortunately those were just not quite my shades, which does make it a little more difficult to form an opinion, but I certainly wouldn't mind checking out other shades available in the range.

Overall, I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of these products, considering their purse-friendly prices. I'm glad I finally got to try some of these products, and will definitely be looking to get hold of more in the future.
