In preparation for
the Spring Racing, one of the finest hotels in Melbourne, the Langham is hosting
special Vogue High Tea and we were greeted with a flute of Domaine Chandon NV
Brut on arrival – this would be my first alcoholic drink in over a year, first
being pregnant, and now breastfeeding our four month old son – but I did enjoy
a couple of tiny sips, but controlled myself. And I had drunk it all, I would
no doubt have been rather tipsy.
The High Tea included Classic Tiffin Tea dishes and desserts including among others ribbon sandwiches with cucumber and egg, cream cheese and chives, free range chicken and smoked salmon pin wheels.
The deserts consisted among others of scones with jam and cream, very vanilla cupcakes, chocolate macarons, lace cookies, Vogue strawberry éclairs and salted caramel popcorn tarts (my favourite of the day!)..
I brought my husband and our little boy along, and my husband was pretty excited about the whole experience, saying we have to do that again – and as for our little boy, he was the best little boy, not crying once, which is pretty amazing for a four month old little boy seeing we were there for almost two hours. Rather he was his usual charming little self, smiling at everyone that passed by our table.
The service at the
Langham was pretty impressive too, which is sadly very rare these days – but the
staff was very attentive and constantly coming to our table asking if everything
was ok or if we needed anything. Our little boy was also offered a baby-chino,
though he is a tad too young for that yet, so we’ll have to do a raincheck for
that one!
And of course, just
being at the Langham was an experience in itself as it is such a charming
hotel.
If you want to
visit the Langham Melbourne for the Vogue High Tea, it is taking
place at the ARIA Bar & Lounge at the Langham located on Southbank Promenade on week
days from Monday, 21 October – Friday, 8 November 2013 from 10.30am – 4.30pm.
The High Tea costs $65 per person, and includes the latest issue of Vogue Australia

Have you ever visited the Langham in Melbourne? And have you ever been to High Tea?
That sounds like so much fun! And all those desserts. I would have looked like a pig! I have never been to a high tea. In fact, the only tea I ever attended was with my grandmother at her friend's place. Frankly, I have never heard of such a thing even taking place around here, but we are from different countries, so that could be why.

High Tea is a British thing, but to be honest I thought it had been adapted worldwide, but how wrong was I.
DeleteIt was a great experience, and yes, I felt like a pig too, eating absolutely everything that came on my plate. Did feel a bit of a sugar-rush later from all the cakes, hahaha!
This is seriously cool! We live in the states so we will probably never get to experience this. But thank you so much for sharing your story and amazing photos! And by the way, your baby is absolutely precious!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. It was such a lovely experience, everything from the food to the experience of the place was amazing. And yeah, my little boy is so precious, he is such a relaxed and happy baby, the best one ever!
