Product Review: Innoxa Crème to Powder Foundation

After skincare, I’d dare say that foundation is the most important makeup item to get right, as the wrong type and shade for your skin type and skin tone, and you will ruin your complete makeup look – so over the years I have tried countless foundations. Here are my thoughts on the *Innoxa Crème to Powder Foundation;

What They Say:

"A luxurious compact foundation that applies creamy and dries to a smooth matte finish. Designed to specifically work to even & correct skin tone to help minimise skin imperfections."
"The shine reducing formulation is great for oily complexions. Featuring a blend of Witch hazel and bamboo extracts to naturally absorb and help maintain sebum production, while working with the skin’s natural tone to help minimise imperfections. It contains Ronaflair assists to create a refreshed, mattified complexion while vitamin E soothes and moisturises the skin. Lastly, spherical silicone provides skin with perfecting benefits, controls shine and creates a soft, silky finish. Leaves skin looking luminous, softer and smoother. Free from talc, fragrance, mineral oil and preservatives."

Available in three shades; Linen, Nu Beige, Honey Glow.

RRP: $29.95 (75g) – Available from Myer, Priceline, selected pharmacies and Innoxa Online

What I Say:
I have previously tried the Long Lasting Foundation and the Skin Perfecting Foundation 5 in 1 BB Cream from Innoxa, and been very impressed with both, so I was looking forward to trying the new Crème to Powder Foundation.

I have to be honest and admit that I am usually more into liquid foundation, as I feel they are easier to apply, and also because I have so far not found a compact foundation that I have liked.

The Innoxa Crème to Powder Foundation comes in a cute white plastic compact that reminds me a little of a small soap dish. It comes with a sponge applicator and has a mirror inside the lid, which although quite small, makes it easy to do touch-ups on the go. The compact is quite small and compact and it closes well so it is easy to put in your handbag too.

I love the fact that it is free from talc, fragrance, mineral oil and preservatives, all I could wish for would be that it would also be free from parabens, but sadly it is not.

The foundation is quite creamy in the compact, and I tried to apply it both with the sponge and also with my fingers, which worked too. It is easy to apply, and absorbs and dries into the skin quickly – actually almost too quickly so you have to blend it really fast. But it is easy to blend, and leaves the skin with nice even finish and a matte look. And in spite of my combination skin, and it being a hot day in Melbourne, my skin stayed looking shine-free and matte throughout the day, without the need for any touch ups.

It gives a light coverage, but it can be built up to a medium coverage by applying an extra layer, although you have to take care and blend fast so it doesn’t become cakey or flakey!

I tried the colour Honey Glow, which is the darkest colour available, and although I have a medium beige skin tone, it was a good match. With just three colours available in the range, I could imagine some would find it difficult to find a good match, in particularly those with darker skin tones.

What I Like:
  • Free from talc, fragrance, mineral oil and preservatives
  • It stays put and stays matte all day even on my combination skin
  • Small cute compact with mirror, great for the handbag

What I Don’t Like:
  • It dries a little too quick, so you have to be fast at blending
  • Only available in three shades
  • Can look a little dry on the skin, so I’d say its best suited to combination and oily skin types

Overall this is a good compact crème to powder foundation, and I am impressed that it really does stay put and stay looking matte on my skin all day and doesn’t require a touch up. And while I still prefer using liquid foundations, this this nifty little compact is so handy to have at hand to pop in the handbag for emergency touch-ups.

  1. This sounds like a great product! I doubt I would find my shade though. I also have been leaning more towards foundations with a dewy finish lately, since my skin seems drier than it used to.

    1. Yeah, it is unfortunate that it is only available in three shades, but hopefully it will be so popular that they will bring out more..
