BRAND FOCUS: LUMA COSMETICS BY JESS HART

Today I’d like to put focus on a recently launched new makeup brand, Luma Cosmetics. The brand has been developed by the Australian Model, and Victoria Secret Angel Jessica Hart, who believes in maintaining a natural look without ever looking over done.

What They Say:

Eyeshadow Duo: The perfect blend of long-lasting complementary colours, this duo of matte and shiny eyeshadow palettes, provide both a base and contour shade for effortless contouring. Available in three colour combinations.
RRP: $19.95 – Available from Luma Cosmetics and Priceline

Bronzer: Get glowing and shimmer the night away with this velvety smooth pressed powder – undoubtedly the little-black-dress of bronzers which every girl needs in her makeup wardrobe! Formulated with a blend of natural minerals, this must-have glides on evenly and gives skin a seamless and radiant sunkissed look. Available in two shades.

RRP: $24.95 – Available from Luma Cosmetics and Priceline

Sheer Lipstick: Shimmer and shine while nourishing your pout with LUMA’s luxuriously creamy sheer stain. Feeling like a gloss without the stickiness, this balm-like formula provides superior moisture retention and conditioning for healthy, hydrated lips. Available in 6 shades.
RRP: $19.95 – Available from Luma Cosmetics and Priceline

What I Say:

One of the first things that strikes me when I received the Luma Cosmetics was how cute the pastel pink packaging were. Very girly indeed. Yet other products such as mascaras and lipsticks come in silver packaging, which is very stylish.

Next, I am surprised at the low price point. $20 for an Eyeshadow duo or a lipstick, and $25 for a bronzer is cheap if you ask me. And especially when you also know that the products are formulated using naturally derived ingredients, and they are free from parabens, sulphates, synthetic fragrances, artificial oils, mineral oils. And are not tested on animals. Products like that usually come at a higher price, but not the Luma Cosmetics!

Luma Cosmetics Eyeshadow Duo in Wisteria and Amethyst

I have to be quite honest and admit that I rarely use anything but neutral and brown eye shadows, so this eye shadow duo containing a very pale beige and a beige shade, did fit the bill quite perfectly for me. The colours are beautifully suited to each other, with the palest shade perfect for using across the entire lid from lash line to brow bone, while the darker shade is perfect for using along the lash line and on the corners of the eyes to create more dimension and depth.

Both shades are, again considering the price quite pigmented, blends well, and stays put quite well throughout the day. The apply sheerly so are perfect for a daytime look, but you can build up the colour and make it more intense by using a wet eye shadow brush, also making them suitable for a more dramatic evening look. The shadows contain light-reflecting mica that gives the eye shadows a nice sheen, without being too under the top. The eye shadow comes in a pastel pink square compact with a large mirror. Unfortunately it doesn’t contain any brushes, but as I prefer to use my own anyway, I am not too fussed about that. They are made from 93% natural ingredients.

Luma Cosmetics Bronzer

Like the eye shadows, this bronzer comes in a square compact in the pastel pink shade, and it has a large mirror on the inside. Again, it doesn’t contain any brush or even a powder poof, but again, preferring my own brushes anyway, I don’t mind. This bronzer is made from 85% natural ingredients and is non-comedogenic so it won’t clog your pores. The bronzer is only available in two colours, but it is a Neutral shade perfect match for my medium beige skin tone. It has a hint of gold shimmering particles throughout the bronzer, and while I normally don’t like too shimmery products as it makes my combination skin look even greasier, it is still very subtle and gives your skin a nice healthy glow that is not too over the top.

Luma Cosmetics Sheer Lipstick

This lipstick in the shade Dusty Rose looks like a dark red shade in the tube, but it just gives a lovely sheer stained red shade on the lips, so I would actually rather classify it as a lipstain or lipbalm, as it is also feels like a balm on the lips. It is simply lovely. As with all tinted lip balms and stains, unfortunately the colour doesn’t last long on the lips, but it does fade gradually and still leaves your lips feeling soft, hydrated and smooth, no doubt from the included beeswax, avocado, evening primrose, shea butter and vitamin E. There are six shades in the range, and I certainly wouldn’t mind adding a few more to the collection as they are perfect for a casual outings where you don’t want to be too made up! The Sheer Lipsticks are made from 88% natural ingredients.

  1. I'm still yet to check out the range - they don't stock it in my local Priceline. The products look divine though - I love the natural, glowy premise behind them.

  4. Before you even said it I thought wow these are a great value! I'm always interested in new natural beauty.brands. And even though it doesn't really affect the makeup.. it's cool it's by a Victoria's Secret angel. :)
