PRODUCT REVIEW: PONI COSMETICS UNICORN BLUSH, BRONZER AND HIGHLIGHTER

Today I am excited to share with some brand new releases from the gorgeous brand PONi Cosmetics, the new PONi Unicorn Bronzer, Highligher and Blush, which were launched in the beginning of this month..

If you're not familiar with PONi Cosmetics, let me quickly tell you that it is an incredible cruelty free Australian brand that is really a must try. I have previously talked about some of their gorgeous products, including the Contouring Kit and the White Knight Mascara, which you can see here

Now, let's get onto the new products, starting with the PONi Cosmetics Candy Blush. This pressed ombre powder blush has shades ranging from a gorgeous hot matte pink to a soft shimmery peach. The hot pink side may look a little dark and frightening but it gives the most stunning flushed soft pink cheeks, while the peachy coral shade has a beautiful shimmer that looks stunning too and is very flattering - so in reality you get not just one blush, but actually three.... A hot pink matte one, a peach coral shimmery one, of course, you can swirl it all together for a shade that is medium pink with just a touch of shimmer and a lovely glow. Absolutely gorgeous. The shades are very pigmented, and blends easily too.

Next up is the PONi Cosmetics Chocolate Bronzer, which also is a pressed ombre powder that ranges from light to dark bronze, that is semi-matte in one side and has more shimmer in the other end. It gives the skin a gorgeous natural bronzed glow, without looking too shimmery, or too orange either. The shades are great to use for contouring too, so a great multi-tasking product too. Like the blush, it is also very pigmented and applies and blends easily and beautifully, giving you a gorgeous natural look.

Finally, there's the PONi Cosmetics Champagne Highlighter, is a pressed ombre powder in a golden shade that varies from low shimmer and slightly lighter shade in one end to high shimmer and slightly darker shade in the other end. In the fear of sounding repetitive, this too is a gorgeous and very pigmented highlighter, so you only need the tiniest sweep across the face for a natural glowing and radiant look, though, again, you can build up the intensity for a night out. I also love that it is not too shimmery I feel that often makes my combination skin look greasier, but rather it has a more subtle sheen.

I really love how these powders have all been designed so that they're ombre with different intensities at either end of the product, as it simply makes the products non only multi-tasking, but also so much more versatile and better suited for a wider range of skin tones as well as tastes.

I of course also have to mention the beautiful packaging, the rose gold compacts, which all have internal mirrors, and a purple unicorn icon printed on top of the lid. Just stunning, and right on trend too.

So I think it's quite obvious to say that I absolutely love this PONi Cosmetics Unicorn collection, as the products not only look amazing, it also feels incredible to wear too. Definitely worth checking out.

PRODUCT REVIEW: BARRY M COSMIC LIGHTS, CHISEL CHEEKS, READY SET SMOOTH AND MOLTEN METALS

One of those brands fairly new to me is Barry M, so when a selection of their best-sellers landed on my door step, I naturally squealed a little...

Lets start with the Barry M Cosmic Lights Highlighting Palette. This pretty blue and purple cardboard palette contains 6 shades, four creams and two powders, with the creams to the very left and right, and the two powders in the centre. It also comes with a large mirror inside the lid.

The top powder has a pretty pink shade in the pan, and is quite glittery, while the one below is a very pale pink in the pan, but once applied it has an iridescent blue shimmer, which is very pretty, but sadly is not quite for me. Then there's the cream shades, the top left one is a pale pink, which ha a lovely natural sheen on the skin, while the one below, an even paler pink, has an almost purple iridescent sheen, which again, I am not too fond of. Moving to the very right, the top shade is a mid-brown shade, which when applied has a gorgeous golden shimmery look, while the bottom shade, a pale peachy-beige shade has a pale shimmery look, though still with golden and silver flecks.

Common for all the shades, creams or powders are that they are very pigmented, so you'll need to apply sparingly. Again, i am sadly not too keen on the blue effect, so my fave shades are the two more neutral and golden shades to the right of the palette, the darker one will be perfect on tanned skin, while the paler one, great for winter pale skin.

Anyway, these highlighting shades are great to use pretty much anywhere you like above your makeup, on the cheekbones, cupid’s bow and brow bones, or even on the decolletage or shoulders for a more luminous and radiant finish on a special night out. And considering the fairly large pans, and the high pigmentation, this palette is great value.

Then there's Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit, which is palette that contains three pressed powders for the perfect shaped and defined cheeks. The kit contains a light powder to highlight, a bronzer to warm, and a dark powder to sculpt the cheeks.

The palest shade is a slightly yellow tinged ivory shade that helps brighten and add light to the shade. The middle shade is a warm medium brown shade to add warmth to the face, and finally, to the right, a deeper and more grey-toned brown shade to shade to contour the face. All the powders are shades are matte, but with just a touch of sheen, which I quite like, and they are also pigmented, and easy to apply and blend with a large brush. For my medium beige skin tone the first two shades are ideal, while the last one is a tad too dark. Like the Highlighting Palette, this Contour Kit comes in a cardboard packaging that is convenient and easy to use and I like that inside the lid, where there would usually be a mirror, there how-to illustrations, to make it easy for everyone to use. Again, this is great value for money considering the high quality of this palette, so if you're after a budget contouring kit, this is really a great kit, worth checking out.

Next is the Barry M Ready Set Smooth Loose Setting Powder, which is a white very fine translucent powder that helps set your makeup, and give it a flawless and brightened smoother soft-focus finish. It also contains oil absorbing ingredients to stop the shine and mattify the skin and create a flawless, light-weight finish that’s suitable for all skin tones. This is intended to be applied over foundation. The powder comes in a little jar with an internal mirror and a sponge applicator, so its easy to apply on the go if you wish - though personally I do prefer to apply with a large powder brush. Having combination skin prone to shine by mid day, this is such a great powder, as it really does make my skin look shine-free for longer.

Finally, there's the Barry M Molten Metal Nail polish, which promises chrome effect shades with mirror shine foil finish that will look shiny for days. I tried in the shade Blue Glacier, which is a pale grey-blue shade with lots of tiny silver shimmer, and once applied, it really has a gorgeous shiny finish, with a colour that seems to change, depending on the light. Two coats did a good job, but for the perfect solid finish, I do feel that I need three coats. As the polish is so shiny, a top coat really isn't necessary, but obviously, it will extend the wear of the polish by a few days if you do add one. A gorgeous shade with a beautiful finish that you can only love!

Barry M Cosmic Lights Highlighter Palette - RRP: $18.95 / 4 x 2.8g cream, 2 x 3.6g powder
Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit - RRP: $16.95 / 7.5g
Barry M Ready Set Smooth - RRP: $14.95 / 5.2g
Barry M Molten Metal Nail Paint - RRP: $8.95 / 10ml

PRODUCT REVIEW: PUR COSMETICS LOVE YOUR SELFIE 2 FACE PALETTE

As a beauty fanatic I love trying out and discovering new brands - and only recently I came across PÜR Cosmetics, and tested out their Best Sellers Kit (which you can read all about here), and as their Cushion Foundation, Bronzer and Strobe Palette (which you can read all about here) - and I really loved their products - so needless to say that when the PÜR Cosmetics Love Your Selfie 2 Face Palette landed on my desk, I was naturally very excited.

If you're not familiar with PÜR Cosmetics, you seriously should get acquainted. The U.S mineral makeup range has the underlying goal of making products formulated with good-for-your-skin ingredients that not only help cover skin imperfections but also help correct its overall appearance.

PÜR Cosmetics Love Your Selfie 2 Face Palette is a compact that is loaded with 13 of PÜR's best-selling products including;

  • Illuminating Highlighter in Photogenic, 2.2g
  • Mineral Glow Bronzing Powder in Composition, 2.2g
  • Baking Powder in Overexposed, 2.2g
  • 8 eye shadows, including 2 matte, 6 shimmery 1g each
  • Lip Gloss in Silhouette - Deluxe sample, 3.9g
  • Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Focal Point, 1.9g
  • Fully Charged Mascara - Deluxe sample, 5ml

In short, this palette contains everything you'll need to take you from desk to dinner, and it even contains a how-to cards, with ideas for both day-time and night-time looks.

Starting with eye shadows, are in a range of offers a very wearable neutral shades, as well as a few deeper and more shimmery shades perfect for night time. There are shades for base, for the crease, shimmery shades to enhance and highlight, and deeper colours to add intensity and drama. The shades are all very smooth and silky soft. They are also all quite pigmented and easy to apply and blend. They also wear well throughout the day, without settling into lines and creases, and with minimal fall out. The only shade I am not sure about is the burgundy shade 'Sketch', but other than that, all other shades are a perfect for someone like me, preferring muted neutral shades.

I have previously talked about the bronzer, which I really love (and you can read about here!), and while I am usually not fond of shimmery bronzers, I do love this Mineral Glow Bronzing Powder as it just has a tiny touch of sheen, giving your skin such a natural tanned look, making it look glowing and radiant. It is silky soft and easy to apply with a powder brush.

The Illuminating Powder in Photogenic is a pale pearly pinkish shade that leaves a lovely natural glow on the apples of your cheeks, while not being too shimmery or glittery, and it leaves your cheeks with a beautiful natural flushed look, perfect for winter-pale skin. The Baking Powder in Overexposed is a very pale dusty rose shade that is perfect for using on the top of the cheek bones. These three powders may not be intended for it, but you can naturally use these as eye shadows too.

Next is the Fully Charged Mascara, which contains among others a magnetic polymer matrix to lift and curl lashes. The large brush makes it easy to apply, and it separates the lashes nicely without any clumping, and just one coat gives a nice definition, length and curl great for day-time, while a few more coats adds more dramatic volume and length.

For the lips, there's the Lip Gloss in Silhouette, which is a medium mauve shade is perfect for day-time looks. It is quite pigmented and it applies smoothly with a beautiful shine, and it is infused wit a lip plumping technology that makes the lips appear fuller. It feels soft and creamy and moisturising on the lips, without being sticky. And because it is so pigmented, you can build it up to almost full intensity, or apply it more lightly for a more subtle look.

For night, there's the Lip Pencil in Focal Point which is a dark mauve shade which is absolutely stunning. It is soft and cream, and so easy to apply, and it leaves a gorgeous velvety matte finish on the lips, yet without feeling dry on the lips. The dark shade means that it has a good wear of several hours, and even when it fades, it does so evenly, leaving a nice stain on the lips.

This is really a very versatile palette, and it includes all the basics you need, plus a few extras that allow you to transform your makeup look from day to night. All the products are of high quality and very pigmented and feel so lovely to use and wear.

The actual palette is slightly bulky, which is however necessary to make room for the lip pencil, lip gloss and mascara, but does mean that you may find it too big for the handbag for everyday use. Personally I am rarely one for applying makeup on the go, so for me, it will be to be used at home, or take with me when travelling, for which I find it absolutely perfect.

All the products are really lovely and of such high quality, and considering the amount of products that you get, this is extremely well priced, so I highly recommend you check out this palette. Personally I also really liked the mascara which I can imagine repurchasing, as well as I really liked the lip pencil, and would love to explore more different shades.

PRODUCT REVIEW: MILANI BLUSH, BRONZER, AND SETTING SPRAY FROM THE BEAUTY DRAWERS

One of those brands there has been so much hype about amongst beauty editors and bloggers, is Milani Cosmetics, and in particular about their blushes, though lately more of their different products are also getting a lot of mentions. I am not sure why I have never actually gotten around to trying their products, until I was so lucky to get a few sent to me thanks to being a brand ambassador for the new online store The Beauty Drawers.

Lets start with the Milani Cosmetics Baked Blush. These blushes are made from being baked in the sun, on terracotta tiles in Italy, which does give them an added charm. At the Beauty Drawers, they are available in a massive 11 shades, and I put three of those to the test;

  • Dolce Pink - The palest of the three, a beautiful hot pink that has been swirled together with a lighter pink shade, along with golden shimmery particles
  • Corallina - A darker, coral pinky-red shade, swirled together with a pale pearlescent shade, again with shimmery particles
  • Red Vino - The darkest of the three, a burgundy-red wine shade with swirled together with a golden shade, and again with the shimmer

As promised these blushes are insanely pigmented so you can build them up to be very intense and vibrant, and you have to be cautious that you don't apply too much. A little seriously goes a long way, and the tiniest bit is sufficient for a sheer yet glowing and radiant look.

The blushes come in little round golden pots with a clear lid, and underneath the blush you'll find a tiny brush and also a mirror. The little brush is as such soft enough, but personally I prefer to use my own larger and softer brushes, also as I find you'll get a better and more blended result. But if you do tend to apply makeup on the go, the included brush and mirror is certainly a great touch.

The three shades I tried are all gorgeous their own right, but if I had to pick a favourite, it would probably be Corallina, followed by Dolce Pink. I do also like Red Vino, but the darker shade means that I think it will suit pale my skin tone a little better during summer when I have a slight tan.

At the low price of just $15.95, these blushes are seriously a great buy, and I already know that I’ll need to get my hands on a few more shades from the range.

Next up is the Milani Cosmetics Rose Powder Blush. This is seriously the most stunning blush you ever did see with its embossed rose, so no wonder you'll find more pictures of this one all over Instagram. This Rose blush is available in three gorgeous shades from The Beauty Drawers and I put the shade Romantic Rose to the test, which is a matte nude dusty rose shade. And this shade is the best shade for those with pale skin, giving you a beautiful and very natural blushed cheek. Perfect for everyday makeup, or a barely there look, also because it applies with just a very subtle sheen. Absolutely stunning. And as with the baked blushes, this one is also quite pigmented, so you have the choice if you want to apply just a sheer wash of colour, or have a more intense look.

The blush comes in a golden compact with a clear lid, so you can see and admire the beautiful embossing - and unlike the Baked Blush, this one doesn't come with a brush or mirror included, which does make the packing slightly more slimline and stylish, and again, I actually personally prefer this and leave the little brush out.

The blush is seriously stunning, both to look at and to use, that again, I think I'll need more of these in my life. And yet again, considering the high quality, it comes at a bargain price of just $17.95, also because it holds a massive 17g, which is a lot of a blush!

Then there's the Milani Cosmetics Baked Bronzer, which is also baked on Italian terracotta tiles. It is available in three shades, and I put the shade, Dolce to the test, which I believe is the darkest shade. However, even it is still perfect for my medium beige skin, and the bronzer swirled with shimmer, gives a lovely natural glowing finish. I am not usually a huge fan of shimmery bronzers as I feel they often end up being too shimmery and glittery, plus makes my combination skin look even greasier, but this one only has the tiniest amount of shimmer, giving the skin a lovely radiant and healthy sheen. It comes in a round compact, with the included small brush and mirror underneath the actual bronzer, and again, I much prefer, and feel I get a much better and more natural and even finish if I apply with a larger and softer powder brush, that said, it is certainly a great inclusion if you tend to apply makeup on the go.

Finally, there's the Milani
Cosmetics Make it Dewy Setting Spray, which is the ultimate 3-in-1 product that will hydrate, illuminate and set. It spray can be used both under makeup for a moisture boost, as well as on top to set the makeup and make it last up to 16 hours without creasing, smudging or fading, even my combination skin. It also gives the skin a lovely radiant healthy glow. The spray applies in a super fine mist and has a lovely cooling and refreshing feeling on the skin, so you can also use it throughout the day to freshen up. It has the most beautiful fresh fruity scent, thanks to containing extracts from among others water melon. Another must try from the brand.

So there you have it. I am honestly not sure why I have not gotten around to trying anything from Milani
Cosmetics before, as these products are seriously amazing. The quality is so high considering their very affordable prices. I know I'll be reaching for these products again and again, and now even more keen than ever trying even more products from the brand. I highly recommend that you try them too!

PRODUCT REVIEW: PHYSICIANS FORMULA MURUMURU BUTTER BRONZER, ABC CUSHION FOUNDATION AND ORGANIC WEAR CC CURL AND CARE MASCARA

I have previously featured some products from Physicians Formula - and today I'm excited to share a few more that I've been putting to the test lately..

Let's start with the Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer. This bronzer has been infused with blend of Murumuru Butter, Cupuacu Butter and Tucuma Butter, from the lush and nutrient-rich Amazon. These ingredients are loaded with essential fatty acids and pro-vitamins that soften, condition and moisturise skin, and thanks to these ingredients, the bronzer is very creamy and soft with a cream to powder consistency.

The bronzer comes with a sponge applicator included in a compartment underneath the bronzer, which also has a mirror - which packaging wise, is very similar to other powders from the brand. And while the coloured is very cute and perfect for touchups on the go, I pretty much only apply makeup at home, so I do prefer to use my own brushes in stead. The bronzer has a stunning rippled effect, and comes in a slightly bulky yellow and green compact, with printed palm leaves, that does give it a tropical feel, which is only accentuated by the coconut scent. If you regularly tune into BLH, you'll know that coconut scented products are not exactly my faves, and thus, I would also prefer if this bronzer wasn't quite as strongly scented as it is. But luckily it does fade little by little.

As for the actual bronzer - I actually really enjoy using it as it is so soft and creamy, it is quick and easy to apply and also blends very easily, and it does give the skin a gorgeous natural bronzed glow, and without looking dry or cakey thanks to its moisturising formula. I also really like that it unlike many other bronzers doesn't contain any glitter or shimmer. I tried the shade Light, which is perfect for my medium beige skin tone, but I can imagine that this shade is possibly too dark for those with very pale skin. Overall really enjoying using this bronzer, but again just wish that it didn't have such a strong, and to me it is a slightly overpowering coconut scent.

Then there's the Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free All-in-1 ABC Cushion Foundation. Cushion Foundations are very raved about at the moment, and most brands have or are launching their own versions, and I for one, have to admit that I do love these types of foundations having tried a few different ones, so also excited putting this one from Physicians Formula to the test. And I have to say that of everything I've tried, and seen too, this Cushion Foundation from Physicians Formula is without a doubt the prettiest of them all, with its turquoise quilted design. It also has a slightly bulky design, but then again, all other cushion foundations I've come across are like that! And like all other Cushions I've tried, this one also have an internal compartment with an extra seal to ensure it doesn’t dry out, and it comes with a sponge to dose and apply. The foundation has a very light mineral formula and claims to be an all in one offering airbrushing, blurring and correcting properties, while also adding hydration to the skin and having a smoothing and firming effect.

The foundation has a light to medium coverage, which can be built up slightly, and thus does cover minor imperfections such as lighter pigmentation, blemishes and redness, though I do feel that I need to use a more heavy duty concealer to cover the massive dark circles under my eyes I've been sporting lately. But that said, I do love the dewy finish of this foundation and the fact that it makes my skin look very natural, and I can see myself purchasing this again.

Finally, there's the Physicians Formula Organic Wear CC Curl + Care Mascara. This mascara is 100% natural and made up of 70% organic ingredients, which I really love. It is also free from harsh chemicals, synthetic preservatives, parabens and synthetic fillers, but rather it uses natural colour pigments and natural preservatives. It also contains aloe, cucumber and tapioca starch to nourish and set, sugar film to sculpt the lashes, along with renewable biopolymer to add curve and fullness.

The mascara promises to both care, condition and nourish the lashes, while giving them curl as if you've used an eyelash curler! Now I admit to rarely using an eye lash curler, but I don’t quite think the mascara can live up to this claim of 'saying goodbye to your eyelash curler', although it certainly does give my lashes a significant lift and curl. The mascara has a curved brush and I like that from the very first use, it doesn't clump like many other new mascaras that are simply too wet in the beginning. For a drug-store mascara it also adds a decent amount of both volume and length, and again also curl to my lashes which I really like, although neither is dramatic - but then again, it doesn’t make that claim either. The mascara also promises to provide 24 hours wear, but unfortunately my eyes very easily water, and consequently I mostly use waterproof mascaras to avoid that panda look - and unfortunately this mascara isn't waterproof, and after a walk where the cold winds made my eyes water, I sadly had more mascara down my cheeks when I got home than on my lashes. Such a shame, as I actually think this is a great everyday mascara.

So there you go, a selection of Physicians Formula products. And while I really enjoyed using all, and will continue to use them, the highlight for me was definitely the Cushion Foundation.

Physicians Formula Organic Wear CC Curl + Care Mascara - RRP: $24.95 / 7.5g
Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free All-in-1 ABC Cushion Foundation - RRP: $29.95 / 14ml

Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer - RRP: $29.95 / 11g

PRODUCT REVIEW: PUR COSMETICS AIR PERFECTION CC CUSHION FOUNDATION, STROBE PALETTE AND MINERAL GLOW

As a beauty fanatic I love trying out and discovering new brands - and recently I came across PUR Cosmetics, and tested out their Best Sellers Kit (which you can read all about here), and really loved their products - so needless to say that when some of their newer releases landed on my desk, I was naturally very excited.

If you're not familiar with PUR Cosmetics, then you must know that it is a U.S mineral makeup range that harsh underlying purpose of making products formulated with good-for-your-skin ingredients that not only help cover skin imperfections but also help correct its overall appearance.

First up there's the PUR Cosmetics Air Perfection CC Cushion Foundation. This foundation has a massive SPF50, which you can only applaud it for when you live in a country like Australia. The actual foundation is infused with anti-ageing amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins and advanced botanical problem solvers, and also contains Brazil Babassu Oil to soften and soothe irritated skin for a soft, dewy complexion.

The foundation has an extremely light mousse-like texture, and the included sponge makes it so easy to apply and blend. It gives the skin a sheer coverage, as you'd expect from a CC Foundation, but it can easily be build up to a medium coverage, while still looking very natural. This means that it does cover minor redness and pigmentation, although I do fee the need to use a concealer to cover the dark circles under my eyes, and larger areas of darker pigmentation. The actual foundation comes in a white compact with an internal mirror, and as such it looks like most other cushion foundations. It has a lovely, but subtle floral fragrance that you can only love.

Overall I really love this Air Perfection CC Cushion Foundation, it really is light as air, and as it also gives the skin a lovely matte finish, it is perfect for my combination skin too, also because it doesn’t contain any petroleum-based oils that can clog up the pores. My skin also loves the fact that while it does contain hydrating properties, it is still so light that it doesn’t make my skin look shiny or oily throughout the day. This is the perfect foundation for a casual every day makeup. At $59 it is at the higher end of the scale for a foundation - but then again, it actually comes with a full sized bonus refill, which then suddenly makes it very well priced.

Next there's the PUR Cosmetics Mineral Glow Bronzer, which like all other PUR products, is no ordinary bronzer. You see, this bronzer has added shea butter to help soothe and moisturise the skin, along with ceratin complex, AHA and retinol to help add hydrating ceramides to the skin and help to smooth lines and wrinkles. Normally I don't like shimmery bronzers - mainly because I find they are often too glittery, plus they make my combination skin look shiny and consequently greasy, so I was a little wary when I saw this bronzer. But I was pleasantly surprised. This bronzer gives the most gorgeous natural tan and healthy looking glow, and without looking orange or fake. It is super easy to apply and blend and works perfectly for contouring too. It goes on sheer, but you can easily build up the intensity if you like. It simply gives you the most gorgeous radiant glow.

Finally, there's the PUR Cosmetics Sun-Kissed Strobe Palette. This gorgeous palette is quite different in packaging to the other products - I mean, the cushion compact is white, the bronzer silver, yet this palette comes in a sleek, slim black and gold compact with a magnetic closure and internal mirror and it simply that oozes luxury - and hence, without a doubt, my favourite packaging of the three. And I never can resist beautifully packaged products.

The palette contains three iridescent highlighting shades to illuminate, define and flatter your face and achieve the perfectly strobed look. The shades are light and creamy and all super concentrated, so you only need the tiniest amount. And they simply glide onto your skin, quickly and easily, and are super fast to blend seamlessly too, giving you such a gorgeous illuminated buildable dewy glow.

The palette contains three complementary self-setting cream-to-powder shades, Aurora, Solar, and Dusk. Aurora is the palest shade, a warm beige shade, while Solar is a dusty rosy pink shade, and Dusk is a golden bronze shade.

The shades can be used to high points of the face, such as top of the cheeks, brow bone, or above the cupids bow for an instant glow. I have a medium beige skin tone, and these shades all work so well with my skin tone, but I believe the shades will work well with most skin tones as the shades simply melt onto the skin, and simply leave the skin looking more radiant and glowing, without depositing too much colour.

So yet again I am super impressed with these products from PUR Cosmetics. They are simply of such high quality and I love the fact that they contain skin caring ingredients as well. Definitely highly recommended.

PRODUCT REVIEW: MODERE COLOUR

A little while ago I was invited to an event for the launch of Modere Colour - But unfortunately I couldn’t' make it as it was being held in Sydney. In stead the brand kindly sent me a selection of their products.

Perhaps you've never heard of Modere before - frankly, I hadn’t either although the brand has been around for a few decades selling products within skincare and household products.

In line with the brands philosophy, the aim with the newly launched Modere Colour makeup line is to sell "honest, bold, safer and botanically inspired makeup designed to go hand in hand with the existing skincare range – all created to enhance your natural beauty from the inside out. Colour that’s clean and safe, with BPA free packaging, natural mineral pigments and certified organic botanicals and without potentially harmful ingredients, animal products or animal testing." I also love the fact that the products are Australian made and owned. But let’s get on to talking about the products.

The Modere Colour Primer contains among others organic aloe to soothe redness and hydrate tired or dehydrated skin. It also contains natural mica Natural mica, a light reflecting mineral to give the skin a luminescent look, which hazel to help tighten the pores and leave the skin fresh (and so perfect for my combination skin with large pores!), as well as Grapefruit seed extract acts as a natural antioxidant.

The primer has a slightly odd scent, but it is incredibly light, almost watery, and absorbs into the skin immediately, and it leaves the skin feeling silky soft and smooth. Following I find that foundation is so much easier to apply, as it seems to glide onto my skin, as well as make my skin look more flawless that without and not to mention, makes my makeup stay put for longer. It comes in stylish square pump bottle that makes it easy to use.

The Modere Colour Mineral Liquid Foundation contains certified organic ingredients such as jojoba seed oil to add hydration, avocado oil to conditions the skin and provide a luxe application and rose flower extract softens the skin. The foundation has the same slightly odd scent, and it has a creamy consistency and a medium coverage that dries to a soft matte finish. It is easy to apply with either your fingers, a blending sponge or a foundation brush, but I find that you do have to blend fast before it dries. I love the matte finish on my combination skin and that it has a good wear, used with the primer, staying put all day without looking greasy or settling into fine lines. It also comes in the same style stylish square pump bottle that makes it easy to use. And by the way, I love that the bottles are clear, so I can easily see how much product is left in the bottles.

The Modere Colour Mineral Pressed Foundation is made using Ethyl macadamiate from natural macadamia oil to create a light, non-greasy texture and feel on the skin, Jojoba esters to soften and soothe the skin, and natural mineral compounds from Iron oxides for a natural colour. The Mineral Pressed Powder has a matte finish and can be used either as a finishing powder on top of a foundation for a matte finish and to extend wear, or as a foundation on its own. It is best applied with a kabuki brush, and you can apply just a light coverage or build it up to a medium coverage, covering redness, blemishes and some pigmentation, yet it still looks natural. I have enjoyed using it both on top of the Mineral Liquid Foundation, or on its own on more casual days where I've wanted a less made up look. It comes in a stylish black round compact with a large internal mirror.

The Modere Colour Bronzer is made using Ethyl macadamiate from natural macadamia oil to create a light, non-greasy texture and feel on the skin, Lauroyl lysine from coconut fatty acids to create texture and a silky finish, as well as the natural mineral mica to add glow and reduce the appearance of pores and wrinkles. The Bronzer has texture that is easy to apply, and thanks to the tiny shimmer particles that give the skin a lovely radiant and healthy glow, looking very natural and not orange or fake like other bronzers. It also comes in a black round compact with a large internal mirror.

The Modere Colour Blush is also made using Ethyl macadamiate from natural macadamia oil to create a light, non-greasy texture and feel on the skin, Lauroyl lysine from coconut fatty acids to create texture and a silky finish, as well as the natural mineral mica to add glow with a touch of subtle sheen. The blushes are easy to apply and blend, and they are quite pigmented so it only takes a little to get those naturally fresh flushed cheeks. I tried the shades Poppy, a brighter pink, and Posie, a pale dusty pink - both of which are lovely shades, although I particularly love the Poppy to add some much needed colour to my tired pale face. The blushes come in little round black compacts, with a 'window' in the lid so you can easily see the shade.

The Modere Colour Eye Shadow, which like the blushes and the bronzer is made from Ethyl macadamiate from natural macadamia oil to create a light, non-greasy texture and feel on the skin, Lauroyl lysine from coconut fatty acids to create texture and a silky finish, as well as the natural mineral mica to add subtle sheen. The eye shadows are so soft and very pigmented too, so it is easy to build them up to an intense look, which you can intensify further by applying them with a damp brush. There are 12 gorgeous shades in the range, and I tried the shades Bella, a peachy nude shade, Cognac, a dark chocolate shade, and Frenchy, a medium blue shade. Sadly I am very conservative, and tend to wear nothing but nudes and browns on my eyes, so however lovely the shade is, the blue is not quite for me, but the Bella and Cognac shades are so stunning, both together and individually. I also love how they stay put all day without settling or fading. The eye shadows also come in little round black compacts, with a 'window' in the lid so you can easily see the shade.

The Modere Colour Mascara is a mineral mascara made with arnauba wax to thicken and lengthen the lashes, along with certified organic jojoba seed oil to nourish and keep lashes soft, as well as castor seed oil for a clump-free formula and perfect lash separation. The mascara has a medium sized brush and the small tip makes it easy to reach even the small lashes in the corners. One coat gives the lashes length and volume, while a few more coats, while with a few more coats you can build this up more. I like how it easily separates the lashes and doesn’t clump them together, also regardless of how many coats you add. The mascara comes in a thin long black packaging.

The Modere Colour Lipsticks are vegan and made using shea butter to keep the lips moist and protected from the harsh elements, carnauba wax to give them a creamy texture, and candelilla wax brings a smooth, creamy finish. The lipsticks are very soft and creamy and they apply easily and smoothly, and feels very comfortable on the lips thanks to the moisturising formula. They have next to no scent, and are quite pigmented, so just one swipe gives you a decent colour pay-off, and with a lovely sheen. For a moisturising lip, they have a decent wear of a 3-4 hours, though a little more for the darker shades. There are 12 colours in the range, and I tried the shades, Barely, a pale barely there nude shade, Molly, a brighter cerise pink shade and Relish, a classic bold red shade, which is also my favourite of the three. The lipsticks come in a black metal tube, and I really like that the bottom part is clear, so that you can easily see the shade of the lipstick without opening it.

The Modere Colour Lip Glosses are made from cetyl alcohol to help soften and condition the skin, hydrogenated polyisobutene to moisturise and prevent water loss from the lips, and certified organic orange peel oil for a fresh, sweet, natural fragrance, so unlike the other products, these lipglosses actually smell really lovely. The lip glosses come in a long clear tube with a pointy foot doe applicator and are easy to apply, and thanks to their moisturising properties, they also feel very lovely on the lips. There are 4 shades in the range, and are either sheer or bold and hence vary a lot. I tried two, Marmalade, which in the tube looks peachy-orange, but on the lips it goes on clear with a golden shimmer, so it is good to use either on its own, or on top of a lipstick for more dimension and high sheen. I also tried the shade Watermelon, my favourite of the two. It applies as a full and bolder and brighter coral-red shade and is hence best used on its own. Of the two, it also has the longest wear, also leaving behind a nice stain on the lips once it has worn off.

All the products come in gorgeous bright coloured boxes. I have enjoyed putting these to the test, and will continue to use the products going forward, and while I cannot say that there as a product I didn’t like, there naturally were a couple of standout products. I particularly enjoyed the primer as it is so light and seems so good on my combination skin, but I also really enjoy the bronzer as it both applies so natural and gives such a lovely glow, without looking orange. The blush in the Poppy shade is such a lovely shade, and I also have to mention the eye shadows as they are so pigmented and has such a good wear. For the lips, I did enjoy both the bolder lipsticks and Glosses, and would love to see the Gloss range extended with more solid bold shades.

So all in all a selection of beautiful makeup products from Modere Colour, in beautiful shades and of high quality and free from all the chemical nasties, so I definitely recommend that you check them out!

PRODUCT REVIEW: PUR MINERALS BEST SELLERS 5-PIECE BEAUTY-TO-GO COLLECTION

Today I am going to talk about a brand that is completely new to me, Pur Minerals, putting the Best Sellers Kit to the test. The products from Pur Minerals are eco friendly, with the brand committed to using natural and responsibly sourced ingredients full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals - all put together so they not only look great on your skin, but also nourish and help treat any skin concerns at the same time.

If you're new to a brand, trial kits with sample sized products are always fantastic, as it allows you to try several products without the expense of getting full sized products. The Pur Minerals Best Sellers Kit 5-piece beauty-to-go Collections contains five of the brand's most popular products for you to try, and even a little how-to guide in case you need it. The kit includes;

  • Correcting Primer Prep & Perfect - 10ml
  • 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup - 4.3g
  • Mineral Glow Bronzer - 3.4g
  • Chisel Brush
  • Big Look Mascara with Argan Oil - 5g

The Correcting Primer contains ingredients such as shea butter and vitamin B3, as well as salicylic acid, which is perfect for my breakout prone combination skin, as it helps to unclog the pores - a refreshing change from primers which I often find clog my pores up! But using this primer means that it helps keep the skin free from imperfections, while also improving its elasticity and evening out the skin tone by lightening dark spots. The light primer is easy to apply, and really leaves the skin soft and smooth and hydrated too, and makes it so easy to apply your foundation, which also stays looking fresh for longer with the use of this primer. I am so in love with it, that I have to get my hands on a full sized tube.

The second step is the 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup, which is a foundation, powder, concealer and sun protector all-in-one. And to be perfectly honest, I admit that I am not usually a fan of powdered foundations, mainly as I often feel that I cannot get the coverage I need, and when I try to build it up, it turns dry and cakey. But this one has me convinced otherwise.

The powder foundation is applied with the included Chisel brush, by circular motions, and layering as needed. I tried the shade Golden Medium, which is a good match for my medium beige, slightly summer-tanned skin tone. The foundation is very light, and gives a nice medium coverage, but you can easily build it up slightly too so it also covers most pigmentation and redness, while still looking natural.

The Chisel Brush is so soft and gorgeous, and designed to apply the pressed foundation as the top is a flat-headed brush that makes it blending it into the skin seamless.

The third step is the Mineral Glow, which is a mineral bronzer that adds glow and radiance to the skin. The shade is a nice medium shade and it has a lovely golden glow, without being too shiny or glittery, but rather just a touch of shimmer that adds such a gorgeous healthy and luminous sun-kissed glow. For once a bronzer that doesn’t make your skin look orange, but rather gives it such a natural glow. It can also be applied using the Chisel Brush.

The final step is the Big Look Mascara, which is actually a full sized product, making this kit great value. The mascara comes in a gorgeous pink packaging, reminiscent of a lip gloss, and I must admit that I thought it was at first sight!

The mascara has spiky plastic bristles that easily grabs every single lash, even the tiny ones in the corners of the eye, and gives them both length, thickness and curl, and separates them nicely too - and from the very first use. Not one of those mascaras that is absolutely hopeless for the first dozen uses clogging your lashes together. But rather it gives your lashes a lovely fanned look. I also like that you can build it up for quite dramatic lashes, and the fact that the mascara has been infused with argan oil so that it protects the lashes and hydrates them at the same time. No wonder this mascara is a best seller!

Overall I have really enjoyed putting these products from Pur Minerals to the test. They are lovely to use, make the skin look great. I particularly loved the Primer which is so perfect for my combination skin, the bronzer which gives my skin such a radiant glow, and then the mascara, which was just great from the word go. I also loved using the Chisel Brush, and know I'll be using it over and over. That actually only leaves the Foundation - and while I did enjoy using it, and find the little compact great when you're on the go, I'm still more partial to liquid foundations, and wouldn't mind putting a few from their range to the test.

MUST TRY PRODUCTS FROM JANE IREDALE - DREAM TINT, LIQUID MINERALS, PLAYON, CHAMPAGNE ON ICE, AMAZING BASE

I love makeup, which also means that I love a of different brands. But one of those brands always on my favourites list, is Jane Iredale, as I have simply not tried a product yet that I didn't love. So today I thought that I'd run you through some of my absolute favouries..

Let's start at the beginning with the Jane Iredale Smooth Affair, which is a primer and skin brightener. It contains anti-ageing properties that increase luminosity, even skin tone, and minimise the appearance of pores, along with other natural ingredients including apple and grapefruit extract to maintain the skin's elasticity and promote luminosity and radiance, aloe leaf juice to soothe and calm the skin, green and white tea leaf Extracts, Royal Jelly and algae extract, for their anti-ageing and anti-inflammatory benefits, olive Leaf Extract to promote epidermal cell renewal, and honeysuckle extract to help purify the skin. I love how this primer not only make my skin look more even, it also makes it easier to apply my makeup smoothly, and I also find that I need to use less foundation to make my skin look even, which in itself results in a more natural and nicer look too. On my combination skin, my makeup also lasts longer without the need for touch ups, and as a bonus, it cares for my skin while I wear it.

When I need a simple and casual everyday look, I reach for the Jane Iredale Dream Tint Tinted Moisturiser. The tinted moisturiser in the shade Medium Light, has a very pale, almost greyish tint, but surprisingly it is a perfect match to my medium beige skin tone, and it blends in perfectly. It has a light coverage with a matte finish, and it covers minor redness, pigmentation and blemishes and smaller scars, while still looking very natural.

If I feel like I need a little more, than I just can't go past the Jane Iredale Liquid Minerals. This foundation looks amazing with its golden coloured beads inside the clear bottle. But once you pump it out, the foundation mixes with the gel that is made from aloe vera, lavender floral water and vegetable glycerin. The beads themselves are liposomes entrapping large amounts of active ingredients, which are then time-released onto the skin to increase delivery into the epidermis by up to 40%. The beads contain minerals, as well as other ingredients including L-Sodium hyaluronate acid, olive squalene, seaweed lipids as well as coenzyme Q10, vitamin C, vitamin K, willow bark extract, chamomile, calendula and seaweeds, which help diminish the appearance of lines and wrinkles, minimising enlarged pores while evening skin tone, and providing lightweight, comfortable coverage.

The foundation, once mixed, has a mouse-like consistency, and applying the foundation is a little different, as you have to get used to the liposomes absorbing into the skin, before it sets. It has a light to medium coverage, that evens out the skin tone and hiding minor flaws, redness and dark spots and it leaves the skin looking so healthy and radiant.
Sometimes I follow with a quick dusting of Jane Iredale Amazing Base on top of either Liquid Minerals or Dream Tint, to set the foundation, or to add a tiny more coverage on areas where I feel I need it. I have the Amazing Base put into a Jane Iredale refillable brush, which is also often to be found in my handbag, when I'm out and about all day, as it is the perfect tool for touchups too. The powder foundation made from micronised minerals, is it is a bit of a multi-tasker as it can be used both wet and dry as a concealer, foundation, powder and sunscreen all in one, and because it contains algae extract, it also helps reduce inflammation, soothe sensitive skin, and rebuild the skin's lipid film barrier. The powder goes on fine, but can easily be build up, and cover blemishes, redness and pigmentation, and it gives a nice radiant healthy look.

To add glow to my face, I absolutely love the Jane Iredale Rose Dawn Bronzer. This quad of golden bronze and copper-toned shades, is a true multi-tasker too as it is suitable to use on both the eyes, cheeks, and as a bronzer all over the face and décolleté for a nice glow, or using the lighter shades, it can be used as a highlighter. And it can even be used on the lips with a touch of clear lipgloss on top! Incredible right! I mostly use it as a blush or all-over face powder. It has a subtle shimmer that comes from 24-karat food-grade gold flakes, which gives a natural and subtle radiant glow.

To set my makeup I love the Jane Iredale Pommisst Hydration Spray. This fresh fruity scented spray is a hydration spay that has added pomegranate extract, which gives the skin a dose of anti-ageing botanicals and antioxidants to protect the skin from UV rays. This spay helps set you foundation and give it a dewy look, and can of course also be used throughout the day to freshen up the skin or add a boost of moisture.

Next up is my lips, and here it is no secret that I love lip crayons, so it is no wonder that I am so in love with the Jane Iredale PlayOn Lip Crayon. I tried the shade Hot, which I a bold classic red shade, which is so stunning. It is quite pigmented and stays put for hours. The crayon makes it super easy to apply, and feels so lovely and hydrating on the lips thanks to containing vitamin E and castor seed oil to sooth and nourish. It is available in several other beautiful shades, and going by how much I've been using this one, I think I'll need to get my hands on a few more.

Alternatively the Jane Iredale Pure Gloss Lipglosses are so lovely. These lipglosses are flavoured with blackberry and pomegranate extracts and smell so delicious. And they feel so incredible on the lips too, containing ingredients that cares and hydrates your lips, including Moringa butter and lotus flower wax extract. Considering they are lip glosses, they last surprisingly well on the lips, leaving them non-sticky, and with a shiny finish and a lovely colour.

I've put a trio mini pack - Champagne On Ice - to the test, containing three cute mini versions, in the shades Lovely Bubbles, a clear with tiny silver shimmer, You Go To My Head, a clear with golden shimmer, and Lips On Crystal, a deep red, which is also my fave, and I think I'll have to get my hands on a full sized one - but that said, the two clears are perfect to wear both on their own, but also on top of any lipstick for a high gloss.

I've also put a couple of other small lippies to the test, including the Lip Drink, which is beautifully scented lip balm that feels so lovely on the lips, and leave the lips soft and smooth. It is perfect on its own, or can of course be used under any lipstick or gloss too. It is also available in a couple of tinted shades, which I've already got my eyes on too. It has a gorgeous zesty scent that I've quickly become addicted to.
Also I've tried the Just Kissed Lip & Cheek Stains, which are stains that adjust to your skin's chemistry to give you a custom shade that will flatter your skin's undertone. They are loaded with moisturisng ingredients, including bees wax and rose flower wax. I tried the shades Forever Red, an orangy-red shade, and Forever Peach, a peachy-orange shade, which both give a stunning blushed cheek and just stained lip. I prefer the red, simply as its slightly bolder, but come winter when my skin is a bit paler, I know the peach will become a favourite too.

Finally, I admit that I am not the biggest user of self-tanners, but I do love the Jane Iredale Tantasia, which is a moisturising natural bronzer and self-tanner for both face and body. It not only gives you an instant healthy radiant glow, it also develops over just a few hours to a lovely tan, that can be intensified by using it a few days in a row. Unlike most other self-tanners, which often develop an unpleasant scent (and hence why I don't like using them!), this one has a lovely zesty citrus scent.

QUICK EVERYDAY MAKEUP - WITH JANE IREDALE DREAM TINT, PHYSICIANS FORMULA, MAX FACTOR, CLARINS, SCOUT, RIMMEL, L'OREAL, ERE PEREZ

With a toddler running around my legs, these days it is rare that I have much more than 5-10 minutes or so to do my makeup before my little boy has pulled everything out from the bathroom cabinets. So most I rely on products which will allow me to apply my makeup quickly. Here are my current picks;

I use a tinted moisturiser, the Dream Tint from Jane Iredale which gives me a lovely even skin tone and a lovely dewy matte look with a lovely glow all while still looking very natural. It is very moisturising, so on hot and humid summer days I don’t even need to apply a moisturiser first (but I’d never skip my serum!), and as it also comes with SPF15, that side is covered too! (I have previously reviewed this Dream Tint and you can see my full review here!)

I then use the Physicians Formula Bronze Booster, which works to both contour the face, and add a touch of a bronze healthy look to my face (and if I feel like it, to my décolleté and shoulders as well!). The palette contains two bronze shades so depending on my mood I can either use both of them together, or even separately. The bronzer also has a touch of golden shimmer, adding a touch glow to my face.

If I have time, I like to add a touch of highlighter to the top of my cheek bones – it simply adds a touch of glow and life to my dull tired face. And this Mineral Illuminser from Scout Cosmetics is my current go to product. It is made from natural minerals it adds such a lovely natural and healthy glow, all without being too shimmery or glittery. (RRP: $44.95)

On my cheeks I love using the Ere Perez Cheek and Lip Balm in Holy. In the compact it looks to be a dark berry shade, but once on the cheeks it has a lovely sheer velvety finish that is so natural as if you’ve just pinched your cheeks! And if I want a darker effect, I simply just add a little more. It is quick and easy to apply with your fingers, and any remains you can simply wipe over your lips for a lovely stain, although I do love applying it with the incredibly soft Ere Perez Multipurpose Brush that is perfect blending for all creamy products. RRP: $32.95)

On my eyes I use the Wild Shadow Pots from Max Factor in either Savage Rose, Auburn Envy, or Burnt Bark. These eye shadows are very pigmented, and just a quick wipe is all it takes for a casual everyday look. I often just use one colour on its own, but if I do have a little more time, combine two or three of them.

To line my eyes I use the Super Liner Silkissme from L’Oreal Paris. The black eyeliner, glides on smoothly and easily, without any pulling or dragging. It gives an intense look with a nice shine that lasts all days, even when my eyes are watering. (RRP: $22.95) Above the lash line, I currently like using the Instant Liner from Clains. This eyeliner makes it so easy to draw a precise and fine line, while providing intense pigment that simply doesn’t budge or fade during the day.

And of course I cannot skip mascara, and my current pick is the Scandal Eyes Rockin’ Curves from Rimmel London. The large curved brush on this mascara makes it so easy to get to even the smallest of lashes, evenly coating them, and giving them both volume and length as well as a nice curl. No lash curler needed! (RRP: $16.95)

Next is the pout, as of curse you cannot skip the lips. And like most others I really love the crayon style lipsticks and balms, and my current picks are the Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balms from Covergirl as they are just so easy to apply also on the go later in the day thanks to the twist-up pen. I love shade Mauve Twist, which is a lovely dark nude mauve shade, or Berry Twist when I feel like something a little bolder as it is a brighter fuchsia pink shade. The both go on sheer, although you can build up the colour, all while still leaving a nice glossy shine to the lips. And they double as lip balms too, as they are so moisturising on the lips containing both shea and mango butter. (RRP: $12.95)

Unless I’ve already run out of time, I also prefer doing my brows before I run out the door. They are victims of serial over-plucking so a little help from the Colour Riche Eye Brow Pencil from L’Oreal is needed. With this pencil it is so quick and easy to fill in any gaps to define the brows, while the convenient brush at the other end helps style them into place! (RRP: $22.95)

So there you go, my current picks of products that are so quick and easy to use when you are in a hurry, but still want to apply your makeup..

Tried any of these products? Which products do you reach for when you are in a hurry?
