PRODUCT REVIEW: MAVALA LAUNCHES THE AUTUMN 2019 LEGEND LIPSTICK COLLECTION AND THE HERITAGE COLOR'S NAIL POLISH COLLECTION

L-R: Versaille, Santiago, Quebec, Bergen,
Walnut Grove and Windsor

I am really not enjoying the fact that it is now autumn and winter is fast approaching. , but what I do like, is that chance of season, means that the makeup brands often launch new exciting colour collections, and some of these new collections for the autumn and winter 2019 include the Mavala Heritage Colours Nail Polish Collection and the Mavala Legemd Lipstick Collection, which are available from April 2019.

If you’re not already familiar with Mavala, then I can briefly tell you that it is a Swiss brand that has been around for over 50 years, so it is tried and test and loved around the world.

One thing that I particularly love about the Mavala Nail Polishes is that hey are free from all the chemical nasties including formaldehyde, toluene, camphor, phthalate, parabens, rosin, nickel as well as they do no contain any animal ingredients.
I also really love the small bottles containing 5ml, as I never ever manage to empty a nail polish, before I either get tired of a particular shade, or it simply dries out, so these small sizes are perfect, and also allow you to select more, as they come at a comparatively lower price too.

The Mavala Heritage Colours Nail Polish Collection is all about the beautiful warm burnt woodland shades of autumn, including mousy grey, beige and navy, mixed with tangy mustard, sunny saffron, spicy paprika and deep browns, as also seen on the catwalks. The shades in this collection truly is an ode to autumnal nature!

The collection contains 6 shades including:

  • 988 Santiago - a pale, elegant gold like a cluster of Chilean white wine
  • 989 Bergen - a mahogany red, welcoming like a Scandinavian home
  • 990 Versailles - a precious gold, like the goldsmiths of yesteryear
  • 991 Quebec - a red copper, like the foliage of the Canadian maple trees
  • 992 Walnut Grove - a powerful black brown, like the wood of a centenary walnut from the Great Plains
  • 993 - an enchanting pink, like a fairy tale or a princess story

All these shades are absolutely stunning, and I love every single one of them. That said, I am very drawn to the darker shades such as the dark berry red Bergen, the brownish red Walnut Grove and the burnt orange Quebec. These shade are sure to be a huge hit, perfect to both complement an autumn and winter outfit, as well as spice it up.

These polishes are, as always so easy to apply evenly and streak-free thanks to the wide brush, and the small bottle also means a shorter brush, which I personally feel makes it easier to control too. No wonder these polishes keep winning awards!

L-R: Eldorado, Anastasia, Jasmina, Artemis,
Mata Hari, and Calypso

Then there's the Mavala Legend Lipstick Collection. And the autumn and winter 2019 trends are expected to replace matte lipsticks with satiny, shiny and glamorous finishes with intense dark nuances ranging from fire red, burgundy, bordeaux, and cherry red.

The Legend collection is also featuring the glitter trends as seen on the runways in Paris and New York, as three of the lipsticks are micro-glittered or pearlised nuances, while the remanding three are creamy shiny shades.

The Legend collection includes 6 shades;

  • 585 Artemis - a bordeaux red
  • 586 Eldorado - a golden translucent
  • 587 Jasmina - a flame red with glitter coppery reflections
  • 588 Mata Hari - a dark burgundy
  • 589 Calypso - a crenate tender rose
  • 590 Anastasia - a silver lilac lipstick with micro pearl silver

Needless to say that all of these shades are absolutely gorgeous. I generally don’t tend to wear pale shades that often as they make me feel a little ‘washed out’ , so needless to say that the bolder reds are right up my alley, with the Bordeaux red and the flame red or as I see it, dark burnt orange shade, Jasmine my favourites from this collection. The Darkest shade, Mata Hari is also gorgeous, but it is very dark and a tad on the ‘vampy side’, so for me, that’ll be a shade for more special nighttime occasions.

As for the paler shades Calypso is a pretty shade for a neutral look, but the Anastasia would be my favourite. Finally, there’s the Eldorado, which is a little more unique, and at first the golden shade does look at little daunting, and I actually thought I’d absolutely wouldn’t like it. However, as it applies translucent, leaving a golden shimmery sheen the lips, it really does look so lovely, on its own for just a shimmery look, as well as it is also great for using on top of any other matte lipstick for a gorgeous shimmery shine.

As always, these lipsticks feel so incredible on the lips, thanks containing Prolip, which is a mix of among others candelilla wax to add shine, gliding and a protective film on the lips, shea butter for its repairing, softening, nourishing and soothing properties, aloe vera to protect and regenerate the lips, vitamin E to ad antioxidants and moisture, and UVB filers, and thus the lipsticks help protect the lips again external agressors including wind, sun and pollution.

The lipsticks are so buttery soft and smooth, and are so super easy to apply, and a single swipe is enough for a full colour payoff as they are so pigmented too. They are quite long wearing too. These lipsticks are so comfortable to wear, almost as if you're wearing a lip balm, so they’re also perfect for the colder winter months where my lips always tend to be a little drier.
