Since having kids and no longer working in the corporate world, I’ve found I’ve changed the type of makeup I wear, and its become less, and always having kids around my legs, it is also a lot quicker than it used to. In terms of foundation, I actually don’t wear foundation that often anymore unless I’ve got something major to cover, but for the usual school drops, trips to the playground and supermarket, I am usually just reaching for a tinted moisturiser or a BB Cream. And one of those brand that I’ve long had my eyes on, is Skin79, so needless to say that I was excited when I was offered to try one via Style Story.
Skin79 is a Korean beauty brand, and they are said to be the first brand to pioneer the BB Cream, also known as Blemish Balm, and since then, the products have been re-formulated to bring vitality, radiance and health back into the skin to leave you with a gorgeous and glowing complexion.
Skin79 has several different BB balms in the range, each that solve a variety of different problems. Each type comes in the style can-like pump bottle, only it has a different colour. Each type unfortunately also only comes in one shade (unless I’ve completely got it wrong!), which means, if the shade doesn’t suit you, you’ll need to try another balm for the correct shade. For instance, I was really keen on trying the , but sadly the shade wasn’t a great fit for my skin tone.
Hence I ended up trying the Original Gold Version, the Super+ Beblesh Balm, which is suitable for all skin types but especially dry skin. It comes in a “Natural Beige” shade that is perfect for light to medium skin tones with beige undertones, and it is said to adjust to match your skin tone as you wear it!
The Beblesh Balm balm promises to deliver whitening, anti-wrinkle and sun protection properties.
It is made using among others Gold and Caviar extracts along with niacinamide to help nourish dull, dry and tired skin by infusing it with moisture to leave it looking instantly brighter and healthier.
It helps even out the skin tone and improves elasticity and skin texture, as well as it also helps keep the skin clear and prevent breakouts thanks to the gold having anti-inflammatory properties that can help calm acne inflammation. Finally, it protect the skin from UV rays with its SPF30, to help prevent further premature ageing.
The BB cream has a greyish tinge, and I did worry that it wouldn’t be a great match for my skin tone, but somehow it really does adjust and looks great on the skin.
It is rather thick, and I do find you have to work a little harder and longer at blending it into the skin than most other BB Creams, but then the coverage is also a lot better, easily covering most marks, redness blemishes and imperfections, yet, still looking very natural. And if you like, you can still build up coverage where needed to cover darker marks, yet still without looking cakey on the skin.
The BB cream leaves my skin looking more even with a nice dewy semi-matte finish and a healthy glow. It lasts quite well throughout the day on my combination skin, without changing colour, or settling into fine lines and wrinkles, though I do feel the need to give my skin a quick powdering on the t-zone area on the very hot and humid days, but honestly, that’s the case with pretty much all BB creams and foundations on my skin.
I am generally not using a BB Cream or foundation on a daily basis, so I cannot really tell if it is actually whitening my skin or reducing any signs of ageing, but still, overall I really like this BB Cream and the fact that it does have skin caring ingredients in it that cares for my skin as I wear it. And once I do remove it at night, it does leave my skin feeling soft and smooth, so guess in a way, it does help nourish my skin. I also love that it gives my skin more coverage than the usual BB creams. I also love that it has SPF30 to protect my skin from the sun.
I like that it comes in the pump bottle as it makes dispensing it easier and less messy, though of course it can be tricky to gauge exactly how much is left in the bottle. The silver bottle with the cold also looks quite stylish, or somewhat more expensive than it really is. And at under $35 it really is quite well priced, also considering it with 40ml, you get more product than the usual 30ml for most other BB creams and foundations.
On the negative, I do wish it didn’t have that slight grey tinge, but I do think it is standard for most BB creams, and at least it does blend out, but I think it if didn’t have this, it would essentially also be easier and quicker to apply and blend. There is also a lot of writing on the packaging that I wish I could understand, I appreciate that it is a Korean product, however, I would love to know more about the ‘7 Effects Layered System”, “Golden Nutrition Complex” and “Fixing Layer Technology” but sadly only the captions are in English, and the remainder is written in Korean.
But all in all this is a great BB cream, and I can certainly see myself reaching for it for months to come, and certainly wouldn’t hesitate repurchasing.
