What They Say:
Garnier
Perfect Blur Smoothing Base Perfector is a filling and smoothing base perfector
that visibly blurs the signs of ageing. It's formulated with a high
concentration of powerful light reflectors that rapidly reflect light in every
direction, allowing wrinkles, pores, irregularities and shine to be visually
diminished upon application. Apply right before make-up to create a perfectly
smooth canvas.
RRP: AUD $16.99 - Available from Priceline,
select pharmacies, supermarkets, variety stores and department stores.
What I Say:
This new primer from Garnier, claims to, in
just 5 seconds, blur away the visible signs of ageing including winkles, fine lines, skin
imperfections, uneven tone and reduce the appearance of open pores, thanks to
light reflecting properties.
The primer is to be applied after your daily skincare and before your
makeup, and you can immediately feel and see how smooth it makes the skin,
while at the same time giving it a lovely velvety matte finish. Lines are
filled out, and consequently the skin does appear younger looking. Minor
pigmentation is corrected, while large areas and darker pigmentation does need
the aid of a concealer. And any large pores, on in particularly my nose are
minimised too.
Another thing I like about this primer is that I found I
needed to use less foundation to get an even result, and somehow the foundation
seems to so much easier to apply.
And as someone with combination skin, and having always struggled to get
my makeup to stay put, this primer is absolutely brilliant as by the end of the
day, my makeup, including my eyeshadow looks almost freshly applied.

Garnier Perfect Blur 5 Sec Smoothing Base Perfector blended into the skin |
As with all primers, this Perfect Blur 5 Sec Smoothing Base Perfector
only visually makes the skin look nicer, it doesn’t correct them, not even with
long term continued use. It simply contains silicone that sits on top of the
skin, and hence giving the illusion that the skin is picture perfect, but once
you remove the primer, the skin looks the same as it always did, with open
pores, lines and pigmentation. Unfortunately, being prone to breakouts, too
frequent use of primers using silicone, does tend to make my skin break out a
little. Not sure why, maybe the silicone clogs up my pores, and prevents my
skin from breathing, or maybe it is another ingredient frequently used in
primers – but regardless my skin seems to be breaking out from frequent use of
most brands I’ve tried – so consequently I tend to only use a primer when I
really need it, and know I’ve got a long day out, or it is a special occasion.
The pale pink primer has next to no scent and comes in a pastel pink
tube with a screw lid, and it has small nozzle making it easy to get just the
amount of product needed without wastage. The mousse like texture is
lightweight and easy to apply to the skin.
What I Like:
- Easy to apply
- Concentrated so you only need to use a little
- Well priced
- Fills out pores and fine lines
- Makes my makeup stay looking matte and put all day
What I Don’t Like:
- Contains silicone, which I suspect causes my skin to break out with frequent use
Overall the Garnier Perfect Blur 5 Sec Smoothing Base Perfector is a
lovely primer and I love how it makes my skin look younger and more even, and
that it really does make my makeup stay put all day. And at just $16.99 it is
very well priced, and is a good contender against even primers three times the
money!

What do you think of this new primer from Garnier? Do you use primers?
Which one do you prefer?
This sounds like a good primer overall. I do like the feel and look of silicon primers but yeah, can't wear them for too long either.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely primer, and I like how it makes my makeup look and stay put for longer - but I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one struggling with long term use of silicone primers!
DeleteThanks for the review, I had been wondering about this product.

ReplyDeleteI'm keen to try this product, I've only just gotten into the habit of using primers and it's nice to see a good review for one which is reasonably priced and easily available.
Thanks so much for your kind words Cathie, that means the world!! I am also quite new to primers, and yes, this one is quite good, especially considering the low price.
Deletesounds like, if you can forgive the silicone, this actually does work. thankfully i dont have many fine lines and my pores aren't super huge (yet).

A Beautiful Zen
Sadly my pores are larger than I like, especially on my nose, - but my main reason for using a primer is to make it stay put longer on my combination skin.
