Product Review & NOTD: Colour Theory Nail Polishes

As most other girls, I love nail polishes, so when I was approached to trial a new range from Colour Theory, I happily accepted. Here are my thoughts:

What They Say:
"Made in Australia this premium two coat polish comes in the season's hottest colours and offers a superior gloss finish with a quick drying time. Formaldehyde free and available in 22 amazing shades."

$4 (6ml) - Available exclusively at most Amcal, Amcal Max and Guardian Pharmacies

What I Say:

I was lucky to trial the nail polishes in Flamingo (a bright salmon colour), Cherry on Top (a warm crimson red) and Purple Rain (a dark lavender) – and all these colours are really lovely, and perfect for spring and summer.

I love the look of these new nail polishes from Colour Theory, round and simple with a white lid. The only think I could have wished for was a colour coded dot on the top of the lid, so you can tell the different colours apart when storing them in a drawer like I am!

The actual formula of the nail polish is nice and thick, and as claimed two coats is sufficient for a nice coverage. It has a narrow brush, which does require a few strokes, but still you get a nice result. The only think I could have liked would be for the shaft of the brush to be a touch longer, as I think that would have made it even easier to apply.

The polishes are very quick drying, and what I also love is that the nail polishes are made in Australia and free from formaldehyde.

I do use my hands a lot, and wash them countless times during the day, but I still managed to get 3 days wear from the polish before it started to chip at the edges, and that was without a top coat, so I can easily imagine that with a top coat the wear would be extended by another day or two.

What I Like:

  • A great budget price
  • Made in Australia and formaldehyde free
  • Quick drying
  • A nice range of colours
  • Fairly longwearing

What I Don't Like:
  • The shaft of the brush is a little short
Overall, considering the budget price, these are surprising high quality nail polishes. And at just $4 each you can afford to add several colours to your collection, I know for sure that I will!

  2. I have Cherry on Top which I received at work a few months ago, I like it, but as you said the brush is a tad bit small. I prefer Maybelline brushes.

And I really am so surprised with the high quality of these cheap nail polishes. Don't think I've ever tried a nail polish from Maybelline, I must check them out!
