PRODUCT REVIEW: SCHWARZKOPF PROFESSIONAL MAD ABOUT WAVES HAIRCARE

My long thick hair has always been straighter than straight so I never really needed to use a hair straightener, and consequently rarely did. But then after my second pregnancy something happened, and now, day by day, my hair is getting wavier and wavier, to the point that its almost is almost full on curls on the the back, and the only thing that probably stops it from turning into ringlets, is the fact that I have long thick hair, so it is also quite heavy. But no doubt, if it was shorter and layered, the curls would be even more pronounced.

I have stopped trying to fight them, and it does frustrate me that my hair now seems so much frizzier too, unless it is newly washed (and doesn’t get brushed when its dry), so lately I’ve been trying to enhance my new-found waves in stead. And I’ve been loving the Mad About Waves haircare products from Schwarzkopf Professional.

The range is designed for all types of textured hair, and combines gentle cleansing formulas with Aquarine Complex, to intensively moisturises and strengthens the hair, whilst providing a care shield for touchable definition and protection against breakage and heat. The products help accentuate the hair's original patterns while making gorgeous waves that last, and helping prevent up to 96% less breakage and up to 94% less split ends.

I’ve put the following to the test;

Schwarzkopf Professional Mad About Waves Sulfate Free Cleanser*
Schwarzkopf Professional Mad About Waves Windswept Conditioner*
Schwarzkopf Professional Mad About Waves Sea Blend Texturizing Spray*

The Mad About Waves Sulfate Free Cleanser is a gentle sulfate-free formula especially for wavy hair, or more specifically for those with fine to coarse hair with loose to tight waves.

The shampoo gently cleanses the hair, whilst hydrating it and amplifying loose waves and giving them more lasting definition. The formula also helps strengthen the hair and provide some heat protection.

Often sulphate free shampoos don’t really lather up - which can be a little frustrating, as it makes me tend to use more shampoo than I really need. But thankfully this one does create a soft and gentle lather, and one shampoo is sufficient to make my hair feel soft and clean.

I follow with the Mad About Waves Windswept Conditioner, which is a wave-defining conditioner designed specifically for those with fine to coarse hair with medium to tight waves.

The conditioner helps to detangle and hydrate the hair, and give further lasting definition to the waves.

My long hair really loves the intense moisture, and is so easy to comb out afterwards, and in spite of all the nourishment, it doesn’t leave my hair feel weighed down.

Most days I let my hair dry naturally, both as I know it is better for my hair, but also as with two little kids, I simply don’t always have the time to use a hairdryer. And once it has dried, it feels so silky soft and smooth, and frizz clearly reduced. And as for my waves, they really are looking better and wavier than ever, and that’s without using any other styling products!

But I have also been trying out the Mad About Waves Sea Blend Texturizing Spray, which is a texturising spray that hydrates, while further amplifying volume, encouraging definition.

It is designed for fine to medium hair with loose to medium waves, and is best used in damp hair by spraying it evenly onto the hair, and then scrunching the waves and either let dry naturally or use a diffuser on the hairdryer on a low setting.

Again, I’ve been letting my hair dry naturally, and this really does make such a difference, making the waves even more defined. And I really like that it does so without again weighing down the hair, but also without making my hair feel neither stiff or greasy, or matte for that matter (which I find a lot of salt texturising products often do).

Common for all the products is that they contain Aquarine Complex that helps to hydrate and give wave definition that lasts. The products come in the most gorgeous pastel pink bottles with rose gold features, and they simply look so stunning in the bathroom. Just so pretty and girlie. I also love the fact that the shampoo and conditioner come in pump bottles, which makes them so easy to use in the shower too.

All the products also have a gorgeous and delicate floral scent that continues to linger in the hair.

Overall I’ve really enjoyed putting these products to the test. They look amazing, smell amazing and are clearly of high quality too. It is the first time I’ve used haircare products specifically designed to enhance waves, and while I normally high quality salon products in my hair, I am really impressed with how these not only make my hair look and feel healthy and shiny, they also really do help make the waves in my hair more defined.

If you have wavy or curly hair, I definitely recommend you try these out - I know I’ll continue to enjoy these, and certainly look to repurchase as well as try out other products in the range, including Light Splash Leave-In Conditioner, Windy Texture Balm and Dry Shampoo.
