Product Review: Scottish Fine Soaps Company Au Lait Triple-Milled Soap

A good hand soap is hard to find. Some are very perfumed, some are too plain, and some are simply too drying on the skin – yet they make the world of difference to the look and feel of your hands and body. So I happily accepted when I was asked to trial the Au Laid Triple-Milled Soap from The Scottish Fine Soaps Company. Here are my thoughts;

What They Say:
"The perfect combination, our wonderful creamy 100g Au Lait soap in a special presentation tin. Making a lovely gift or a treat for oneself, the tin can even be kept and used for something else afterwards".

RRP: $9.95 (100g) –Available from David Jones and Beauty & Me

What I Say:
Having never before heard of The Scottish Fine Soaps Company, I did a little research and found that the brand goes back to 1974, a family business in central Scotland. The founders ambition was to become a “superb toiletry manufacturer, to create exquisite aromatic Bath and Body products for the discerning customer, which will promote well-being for the mind and body as well as a truly luxurious and pampering experience”. In order to achieve this vision the brand embraces three main core values: Quality, Luxury and Heritage.
Their production philosophy is based in the use of quality natural extracts in the making of their products, incorporating natural ingredients such as, Organic Milk, Honey, Cocoa and Shea Butter, to increase the excellence of their ranges. The unique fragrances are created with meticulous detail to ensure well-being and opulence and chosen to compliment all those natural ingredients.
Scottish Fine Soaps is Cruelty-free, it does not do animal testing, and is committed to a greener and sustainable future, and products are made in Scotland from selected natural ingredients processed with their trademark triple milled system. The result is a high quality aromatic soap inside a beautiful vintage style packaging.

The actual soap is square and is wrapped in Scottish Fine Soaps tissue paper and presented in a contemporary embossed metal tin.

The soap contains skin-enhancing ingredients including Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter and vitamin E and of course Organic Milk. All of these ingredients, high in vitamin A and D, aids cell-regeneration and reversal of cell damage caused by daily exposure to the harsh environmental elements.
A sumptuous collection of pamper products enriched with the natural goodness of and blended with a range of skin enhancing This range truly is exceptionally nourishing and will leave skin hydrated, smooth and delicately soft.
Having two dogs, I wash my hands countless times during the day, so my hands are often dry, but this soap bar works great for that, and it also works great as a body bar in the shower. The soap glides over the skin, almost like putting on a lotion, and it lathers into thick and creamy foam.
It makes your skin feel squeaky clean and it rinses clean without leaving your skin feeling dry or without leaving behind any icky soap residue.  It just leaves the skin feeling soft, supple and moisturised.
I love the way the bar smells, it is just such a natural feminine and clean scent with next to no perfume, but rather it has a milky undertone.
The bar is pretty big and will last a long time. It has been by my sink for a few weeks now and it hasn’t dried up or cracked unlike other soaps.

All in all this is a great quality soap, fantastic as a treat for yourself, and perfect for a gift for someone special.

  1. I'm not really big on soap bars. I prefer foams for my hands.
