Predominantly wearing casual makeup these days, I was excited to put the Burt's Bees BB Cream with Noni Extract to the test.
This BB Cream makes a massive 9 claims, promising that it moisturises, smoothes, visibly firms, illuminates, evens tone, conceals, reduces look of fine lines, perfects skin, while protecting with broad spectrum SPF15!!
The BB Cream has a slightly thick formula, but it still spreads easily, and it does, as promised help even out the skin tone, and leave my skin looking and feeling soft, smooth and moisturised, and with a nice radiant glow. It has a light coverage, and while minor imperfections and blemishes are evened out, it does struggle with major marks, pigmentation, and those annoying dark circles under my eyes from months of being sleep deprived thanks to having two toddlers, so I don't quite feel that it lives up to the claim of 'Concealing' which is pretty standard for a BB Cream, if only this one hadn’t made the promise.
Because it is such a moisturising formula, it does make my skin look healthier and also to a degree plumper, which I guess also creates the illusion of lines and wrinkles being reduced in size, but I have to admit that I've yet to see any permanent change from using this BB Cream.
The moisturising properties, unfortunately means that the wear on my combination skin is not as great as it could be, and by lunchtime I do feel my skin I becoming a little shiny especially in the t-zone area, but certainly using a primer first does extend the wear.
I tried the shade Medium, which is a tad dark for my winter pale skin, but hopefully come summer and I get a bit of a tan, it will be just right. But that said, the colour selection is unfortunately somewhat limited with only two shades in the range with a Light/Medium and a Medium.
I do like that it is made from 98.9% natural ingredients and is free from parabens, phthalates, petrolatum and SLS, and also that it comes with SPF15, although that said, I would have preferred it to be higher and more suitable for the harsh Australian environment.
All in all, I do like this BB Cream from Burt's Bees as it really does make my skin look healthy and glowing, but I could wish that a lighter version would also be available for those of us with greasier skin types. Also I do feel that it is not quite living up to its claim of 'concealing' and hence I'm deducting a star from my rating.
