Product Review: ELES Mineral Makeup Signature Shadow Quad in Naturalist

Just before Christmas I received a lovely surprise, a beautifully wrapped package from ELES containing products to create their newest makeup look, the summer look Earth Goddess, which is inspired by the hazy warm summer and centers around soft, smokey eyes, sun-kissed bronze skin, and long, voluminous lashes.

As per previous makeup looks from ELES, I feel that the products each deserve a blog post of their own, so I will blog about each of the products in the package individually, but just couldn’t help showing how beautiful the package from ELES was, complete with a set of beautiful black and gold bracelets that look amazing with a simple black outfit! Anyway, here are my thoughts on the first product, *ELES Mineral Makeup Signature Shadow Quad in Naturalist;

What They Say:

"Magical alone but mesmerizing when they merge, ELES Mineral Shadow Quad creates a myriad of eye effects within one convenient compact. Hypoallergenic, Oil-free, Dye-free, Talc-free, Fragrance-free. Earth-derived micro-minerals produce a smoother application for longer lasting eyeshadow that is crease resistant. Jet milled pigments create a smooth velvet finish and blend easily. Vitamins A, C & E to condition and protect the delicate eye area. Available in 7 different colour combinations, which include Naturalist."

RRP: $99 – Available from ELES Mineral Makeup and select stockists

What I Say:
I have previously tried some makeup from ELES Mineral Makeup, including the Mineral Shadow Quad in Debutante,
the Mineral Blush in Coral Sun, and the Powder Liner, and I so love these products and in spite of having a drawer overflowing with makeup, I still constantly reach for these products, so I was so excited when I received the new summer Look for trial as well.

As I have mentioned previously, I love the fact that the ELES mineral eyeshadows are hypoallergenic, oil-free, dye-free, talc-free, and fragrance-free. I also love that they are infused with Vitamins A, C and E to condition and protect the delicate eye area. The ELES mineral eyeshadows are further more made with micro-minerals to give an easy application and a result that stays put into the afternoon without sliding, fading or creasing, even on my greasy eyelids!

The Naturalist Quad includes a pale off white (highlighter), a dusky pink, a dark chocolate and a dark brown/grey. Like the Debutante Quad, the Neutralist shades have a nice velvety matte sheen with a nice satin finish.

The palest colour, the off-white is perfect for applying all over the eyelid, followed by the second lightest colour, the dusky pink onto the crease of the eyelid. I then use the second darkest colour, the dark chocolate on the outer corners blending into a V-shape to create a smoky eye effect. On the days I want a darker and more dramatic look, of if I am going out for a night out, I use the darkest colour on the outer corners instead. Finally, to use the lightest shade again under the brow bone and in the inner corners of my eyes as a highlighter to brighten up.

The four colours in the palette work perfectly together, but as just as suitable to use on their own for a more minimalistic look.

The eye shadows are easy to apply with a brush, and they are all very finely milled and extremely pigmented so it is easy to build up an intense colour. The eye shadows can be used both wet and dry, although you achieve an even more intense look when used wet, but personally I prefer the more subtle look of using them dry.

The eyeshadows come black applicators in the compact, but as I like using my own brushes with a longer shaft than the sponge applicators, but as I prefer to use my own brushes anyway, I am not too fussed about that, but some may see this as a negative, especially considering the price of the palette.

What I like:

  • The eye shadows are hypoallergenic, oil-free, dye-free, talc-free, and fragrance-free, and infused with Vitamins A, C and E to condition and protect the eye area
  • Highly pigmented shadows that are long wearing
  • Colours work well together, or can be used on their own for a minimalistic look
  • Simplistic and stylish looking packaging

What I Don’t Like:

  • A little pricey, but then again, most branded quality eye shadow quads (think Chanel, Dior, Estee Lauder etc.) cost about the same for a comparable quality
  • Does not include any applicators, but I personally don’t mind as I prefer to use my own brushes anyway

Overall, this is another amazing product from ELES. I have so enjoyed using the Debutante Quad over the past few months, in spite of it being purple, and me being a little conservative and preferring nude and brown shades – but that also means that if it is even possible, I am already loving this Neutralist Quad even more!!

It is such a high quality long lasting Eyeshadow, perfect for both a simple causal look as well as a smoky goddess look for going out at night. And although this palette is part of a summer look, I will make use of it throughout the year, and already dread the day I will hit the pan!!
