MOTHERS DAY GIFT IDEAS - PART FIVE

Today I am continuing with yet another instalment of my Mother's Day gift ideas, which I hope you enjoy and feel make it a little easier to pick that special gift for Mum. If you've missed the previous parts, you can checkout out Part One, Part TwoPart Three and Part Four.

want to give her some thing cool, then just cannot get past this chic RRGB Toiletries and makeup bag from House of Tindale. The bag is made from super sturdy canvas and it has a heavy duty zipper that will stand the distance, and it has been hand crafted to ensure the highest of standard. The bag has the coolest white print all over it - REBEL - ROCKSTAR - GODDESS - BOSS, and it is large enough to carry skin and body care items, and thanks the large internal zipped mesh pocket you can also add makeup, or some personal items.

This bag is just so stylish with its monochrome design, that it makes such a such a statement, that I actually think it is such a shame to hide it away with your toiletries, so I can actually easily see myself use it a s clutch when going out, where it will be perfect for holding both your purse, mobile and keys, along with a few makeup items in the internal pocket.

If she is always on the go, who not team her up with a bottle from S’Well - these reusable bottles from the New York company, have taken the world by storm, so much so that the company has been listed at the very top of Forbes 2016 list of fastest growing women-owned or led companies.

And it is not hard to see why as the bottle is pure genius. It not only support charitable organisations such as WaterAid, but the mere using and reusing the bottle helps prevents unnecessary waste from polluting the environment.

The insulated stainless steel bottle not only look amazing - I particularly love the Onyx, which has a matte black design with a silver cap, but what's so great is that piping hot drinks stay hot for 12 hours, and cold drinks stay cold for more than 24 hours. How good is that. The bottle features a double wall construction prevents condensation, and it is made from high quality 18/8 stainless steel is taste neutral, non-porous, non-leaching & BPA free. It has a wide mouth so you can also use ice cubes, and the seal is air tight so it wont accidentally leak into your bag, as well as our drink will stay fresh. This bottle is seriously super stylish, and will look as good in board room or the office as it will in the gym or on the go, so regardless if she is into cold or hot drinks, this is a gift she'll keep treasuring for a long time. I personally also like that it, unlike many other bottles, doesn’t leak, so I can pop into my bag and not worry about it spilling its contents.

Alternatively how about one of the super cool reusable cups from JOCO. JOCO is an Australian brand of reusable cups, made from sturdy, yet lightweight glass that is resistant for thermal shock, heat retention. It is wrapped in an ergonomic thermal silicon sleeve to help ensure your drink stays hot and your hands cool. It also has a splash safe lid, that has a unique 'nose clearance' to make drinking easier.

The cups have a unique base shape that is barista certified as it pulls the contents of the cup to the center and thus improves the taste and drinking experience too. The cup is of course both microwave and dishwasher safe, and perfect for use both at home, in the office, or even take it to your café for your take-away coffee, as it has the perfect size for a medium coffee. And by using a reusable cup, you will also help reduce the amount of waste - there's a massive 2.25 billion paper cups used worldwide each year, which s over 50 million trees cut down every year, so re-use and help the environment too - all while drinking from a super stylish cup. This particular cool monochrome bird design print is a limited edition version as a part of the artist series collaboration with the Australian artist Adrian Knott - it is so cool, and I love using it - I often get distracted by my little boys and forget to drink my coffee, but this cup helps keep my drink warm longer, all while looking amazing. And my husband is very jealous of this cup, so I may have to get my hands on another one for him too.

If she's into homewares you cannot go past this stunning Hein Tray from Mojito Homewares. It is hand made from bamboo, and renders a connection to the land and culture of the Vietnamese people, with the brand supporting environmental sustainability, fair trade and promoting ethical consumerism.

The tray can be used as a tray to keep all your special things on display, - I'm considering putting mine in my large ensuite for display of some of my favouorite perfumes. But you can also use it when serving tea outside on the patio, or even as a cheese platter. I love the raw beauty of the timber, mixed with the glossy painted edge, and the quality is second to none, and while it sis super simple, it is so super modern too, and not to mention very timeless. And the best thing is tat you can have it in so many different colours, from solid bamboo, to a variety of beautiful colours such as white, lemon, orange, aqua, crimson, or a classic black such as this one. It also comes in two different sizes, 30cm and 40cm.

If she loves music and a bit of boogie as she's plotting around at home, you cannot go past this incredible Wonderboom speaker from Ultimate Ears. This speaker is about the size of a large coffee mug, but don't be fooled by its little size, as this portable wireless speaker has incredible big sound that is so clear and crisp, and with a big and full bass too - and it easily gets the beat going in my huge family room - and it has an incredible blue tooth reach too, easily connecting with my phone at the other end of the house too. It comes with a little hook, so you can take it with you every where and hang it just where you need it, such as in the garden, or even in the shower as it is also completely waterproof, or perhaps a trip in the pool where it will float! The Wonderboom is so simple to operate, turning the volume up or down, or play pause or skip till you get to your favourite song. It is also quickly and easy to charge, and once you have, you have a massive 10 hours of music. It is available in a cool range of colours including an adorable pink, purple, grey and black. This is seriously an incredible speaker, with such a great sound, and it looks pretty awesome too, so she'll absolutely love this one.

Alternatively how about some certified organic skincare from Australian Agape Skin, which is made by ingredients that you can actually read understand.

The Agape Skin The Scrub is a body scrub made with Himalayan rock salt and bicarb soda, as well as coconut milk powder, cocoa butter, corn flour and lavender essential oils, and it is loaded with vitamins A and C as well as proteins and amino acids. The body scrub has a powdery consistency that you add water to, before massaging it onto your body, or even your face as it is so gentle. This body scrub is kind of reminding me of the Microfoliant from Dermalogica, only this is for the body, and again, made only with ingredients that you can actually understand. It gentle exfoliates the skin - in fact, while using it the first time, I doubted that it was doing anything at all, as I am so used to gritty scrubs, and I didn't feel a think using The Scrub - but after rinsing off and drying my skin, I could immediately feel how soft and smooth my skin was. The powdery does mean you have to be careful not to waste any, but it truly worth. And the added lavender essential oils means that it smells absolutely divine too.

The Agape Skin The Elixir would have to be the hero. It is a very light oil for the body, containing among others camellia oil, macadamia nut oil, hazelnut oil, evening primrose oil, apricot kernel oil, and jojoba oil. This body oil is designed to help hydrate and moisturise the body, while smoothing the skin tone and supporting healthy skin cells. The oil comes in a gorgeous black and white pump bottle that makes it so easy to use. And as it is so concentrated you only need to use the smallest amount. Best used when you are just out of the shower and your skin is still warm, it easily absorbs into the skin, and after a few moments it is so soft and silky smooth, and with a gorgeous gentle natural scent lingering on your skin.

Finally, there's the Agape Skin The Balm, which is a balm for your lips. This natural lip balm is made using camellia oil, beeswax, coconut oil, apricot kernel oil, cocoa butter and avocado oil. These ingredients are a rich source of fatty acids to help keep lips soft and smooth and intensely nourished and moisturised, while also creating a barrier and protect the lips from external forces such as the sun. This lip balm so lovely on the lips, you can immediately feel how moisturising it is, yet without feeling greasy, so it is also perfect to use under lipstick. I also love that it has next to now scent, so it has already found a permanent home in my handbag!

Or what about a selection of Australian made hair and body products from Biology Smart Skincare. These products are free from all the nasties such as sulphates, parabens, chemicals and cheap fillers, but are made with Australian native ingredients, along with active plant DNA and pure essential oils.

The Biology No 301 Pure Hydration Shampoo and the No 302 Pure Hydration Conditioner are designed for daily use as they are so gentle. The shampoo is sulphate free, and both the shampoo and conditioner contains among others a bio active complex, Wildberry Harvest, which consists of 3 native berries that stimulate hyaluronic acid within the follicle to replenish moisture levels, and enhance shine while relieving dryness. It also contains the pure essential oils of lavender, pink grapefruit, patchouli, and ginger, which combined help stimulate healing and hair growth, balancing oil production, and repair the hair, while having calming, uplifting, soothing and relaxing effect. Combined the pair help to gently cleanser the hair and balance the scalp, while helping to detangle and smooth the hair fibres and prevent split ends. These products have a very subtle natural scent you can only love, and from the first use, they leave my long hair clean, and feeling soft and smooth, and looking shiny and glossy too.

The Biology No. 305 Moisture Therapy Body Bar is a soap bar that is free from palm oil and PH balanced and contains the Wildberry complex so it gently cleanses the skin without affecting the skin's natural moisture barrier. It also contains Australian Kakadu Plum and Naitive Wattleseed to, which are tiny little particles that gently buff and exfoliate the skin, along with pure essential oils of lemon for its clearing and antibacterial properties and ginger verbena to brighten the skin. This soap has a fresh and uplifting citrusy-herbal scent that is so divine, and it comes in old-school brown paper wrapping which gives it a gorgeous charm.

A great addition would be the Biology No 353 Ultra Hydrate Body Butter, which is a beautiful cream also contains the Wildberry Harvest to rejuvenate and restore the skin's radiance. In addition, it also contains avocado, sweet almond, oregano and sunflower oils along with shea butter and aloe vera, as well as lavender, olive leaf, thyme and rosemary extract to give the skin an intense dose of fast acting moisture and hydration to combat dryness. The body butter absorbs into the skin so fast, and is non greasy, but leaves the skin feeling so silky soft and smooth all day. It has the most gorgeous slightly scent herbal that I really love as it is so natural, and also so subtle that it doesn't clash with my perfume. This body butter will become my go-to body care this winter!

The shampoo and conditioner simple cream coloured bottles with black writing, or for the body butter, a black plastic jar with a cream label and the black writing and logo. Simplistic and stunning, and just how I personally love it!

PRODUCT REVIEW: ELEMIS JAPANESE CAMELLIA BODY OIL BLEND, MAXIMUM MOISTURE DAY CREAM AND WHITE FLOWERS EYE AND LIP MAKEUP REMOVER

Today I'd like to put focus on a couple of products from Elemis that I've been enjoying lately…

Let's start with the Elemis Maximum Moisture Day Cream. This day cream is loaded with unique desert plants including myrothamnus and tamarind, which are known to for their adaptation to extreme climatic fluctuations while they are also rich in anti-oxidants. It also contains African Baobab tree, saw palmetto berries and black poplar bud, which are all rich in trace elements and vitamins to help keep the skin hydrated and energised.

The cream bears the name ‘maximum moisture’ which initially did concern me, as my combination skin is prone to breakouts, and too rich products often make it congested and break out, but I had no need to worry as the cream has the consistency of a light fluid that absorbs instantly into the skin without any greasiness. And in spite of this light formulation, it is still very moisturising, using the ingredients to adapt to the skin's needs to leave it moisturised, smooth and soft all day long. As it is so light, and non-greasy, it is also perfect to use under makeup during the day. The only negative can be that it comes without SPF, but personally I actually prefer that, as I do have days where I don't venture outside (I know, its bad, but in my defence, I have been trying to protect a sick baby from the cold weather this winter), and when I do go out, I don't mind having to add a SPF on top. The cream has the most divine gentle floral scent that you'll instantly fall in love with.

Then there's the Elemis White Flowers Eye & Lip Make-Up Remover. This bi-phase make-up remover is so efficient that it quickly removes all eye and lip makeup, including otherwise stubborn waterproof mascara and eyeliner, as well as those long-wearing lipsticks, and all without the need to rub at the sensitive eye area. The eye-makeup remover has an ever so subtle scent, but it still so gentle that it doesn’t irritate your eyes, even my very sensitive eyes. It is one of the most efficient eye makeup removers I've ever tried, and I love the fact that it has also been enriched with white peony extract to hydrate and white tea to cool, soothe and refresh and that it also helps condition the lashes.

For the body I am loving the Elemis Japanese Camellia Body Oil Blend. The aromatherapy oil is the ultimate multi-tasking product, suitable for absolutely everything from caring for your nails and cuticles, to taming and adding moisture to hair and scalp and keep your skin soft and moisturised, and not to forget, it may help reduce the appearance of scars and assist in the prevention of stretch marks – and as it is free from chemical nasties and contains no parabens, SLS or SLES, DEA, mineral oil, artificial colours or silicones, it is perfectly suitable for use during pregnancy too, so I did use it as a pampering treatment during my last treatment, and loved it so much that I had to get myself a new bottle when I ran out. The Body Oil has the most gorgeous scent from the camellia, and the lightweight oil absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving it so incredibly soft and with a nice sheen. And as I love the scent so much, I do enjoy using it as a cuticle oil too, so I can smell it on my hands, and when I’m done, I simply smooth any remaining oil over my hair to tame any frizz and give my hair a moisture boost too. It comes in a beautiful red glass bottle that looks stunning in the bathroom, and it has a small spout allowing you to get just the amount of oil without any wastage. Just beautiful!

Elemis Maximum Moisture Day Cream - RRP: $83 / 50ml
Elemis White Flowers Eye & Lip Make-Up Remover - RRP: $49 / 125ml
Elemis Japanese Camellia Body Oil Blend - RRP: $62 / 100ml

PRODUCT REVIEW: NUXE HUILE PRODIGIEUSE

The Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse is one of those products that have attracted a cult following around the world, so when I was given the opportunity to trial this multi-purpose oil, I happily accepted, here are my thoughts;

What They Say:

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse is a multi-use dry oil that can be used on skin and hair to nourish and repair. It can also be used to soften the skin and help reduce stretch marks. It has been formulated with six precious plant oils, such as macadamia, hazelnut, borage, sweet almond, camellia and St John’s wort. Enriched with vitamin E and free of silicones, preservatives and mineral oils, the dry oil is easily absorbed leaving the skin soft and silky, and hair shiny and fragranced. It features the unique fragrance of huile prodigieuse, a sweet scent. It is formulated with 97.8 per cent of naturally originated ingredients.

RRP: $26.95 (50ml), $42.99 (100ml)

What I Say:

This Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse is a dry oil, and one of the most famous products from Nuxe. It is made from a unique super activated formula that combines 30% plant oils and vitamin E to nourish, repair and soften face, body and hair. It contains a blend of 6 plant oils, borage, St Johns wort, sweet almond, camellia, hazelnut, and macadamia, which gives it its unique and beautiful subtle fragrance, which is slightly sweet yet spicy at the same time. And it is literally a multi-tasking product of the best, as it can be used on both face and body, as well as in the hair.

Nuxe also recommend trying to mix a few drops of the oil into your foundation for a more smooth result, or pouring a few drops into the bath for a relaxing treatment.

With combination skin, I am not overly fond of using oils on my face, as I feel it makes my skin feel greasier, so I prefer to use this on my body. I use it after my shower while my skin is still warm and damp, and it absorbs instantly, leaving the skin feel so silky soft and smooth, and with a nice sheen. And there is no greasiness in sight, so no need to worry that it will mark or stain your clothes. And being pregnant, I also love to massage the oil onto my growing tummy, to prevent stretchmarks (I was lucky to get through my first pregnancy without any stretchmarks, and hoping to do the same this time around!), and help the annoying itchy skin. And I love that it is so natural that I know its safe for me to use during this time.

I have also tried to use it in my dry hair and it immediately tames frizz, and gives my hair a much needed moisture boost, leaving it looking healthy and glossy, and without weighing it down.

And regardless if used on the body or in the hair, the oil is very concentrated, so it only takes a little, and gorgeous fragrance lingers around for most of the day.

The Oil comes in a gorgeous square glass bottle with a gold lid, and the small dropper in the opening of the bottle, makes it easy to get just the amount of oil you need without wastage.

I love the fact that the oil is so natural, made from 97.8% natural ingredients and that it is preservative free.

This is such a lovely oil, and now I understand why it is so popular around the world, I’m now officially in love too, I can definitely see myself repurchasing this oil, and it becoming a bathroom staple, as well as I’m pretty keen on putting other products from Nuxe to the test!

PREGNANCY SKINCARE

I have never had particularly sensitive skin, but for some reason that all changes when I’m pregnant. It happened last time, and it is happening again. My skin is simply itchy for no reason. So I am doing what I can to use pregnancy friendly and gentle skincare products. And then there is of course also the growing bump, and as the skin stretches more and more, that too gets horribly itcy, and not to mention very prone to stretchmarks also due to the increase in weight. I got through my last pregnancy and a weight gain of over 14 kgs without any stretchmarks worth mentioning, and I am adamant that I’ll do what I can to avoid them again. Here’s a selection of skincare products that I’m using to get me through this pregnancy;

GAIA Nipple Balm*

When I had my little boy I was close to giving up breastfeeding within the first week as my nipples were simply in such a bad state. But I persevered with the pain, and with the assistance of various creams and some medical guidance, eventually things worked out, and I actually ended up breastfeeding him for a year. Now 24 weeks pregnant, I am already starting to feel the ‘pain’ in my nipples, and the GAIA Nipple Balm is already proving a good aid. The organic balm has been designed to moisturise, soothe and protect sore, cracked nipples, and as it is made with pure, edible organic oils such as sunflower and avocado, and does not contain any lanolin, petrochemicals, mineral oil, parabens, propylene glycol or artificial fragrances or pure essential oils so you don’t have to wash it off before breastfeeding. Any residue is perfectly fine for baby to suck off. The thick cream is initially a little difficult to massage in, but once warmed between your fingers it’s a lot easier. And the good thing is that any residue on your fingers doubles as a lipbalm or even massaged into dry cuticles.

RRP: $12.95 – Available from Priceline, select pharmacies and baby stores, and GAIA Online

Vanessa Megan Mummy’s Tummy Pregnancy Oil*

I was very lucky that I was very well during my first pregnancy, and apart from bad morning sickness that has now luckily disappeared, so far all is also going well this time. But as the weeks tick on, and my tummy is growing, I can already now feel the itchiness increasing. And again, wanting to do anything to prevent those stretchmarks, I have been slathering my tummy with Mummy’s Pregnancy Oil from Vanessa Megan as I sit in the couch and relax at night.

The Tummy Oil is certified organic and is made using essential oil dilutions at 1%, so it is safe to use during pregnancy. It contains among others jojoba oil, coconut oil, rosehip oil, vitamin E, essential oils of grapseed, tangerine, lavender and neroli – ingredients which combined help support the elasticity of the skin during pregnancy by promoting collagen production. It not only helps provide the skin with intense moisture without making the skin feel greasy or tacky, it also helps to strengthen under lying tissue, tone and tighten the skin, and improve sun damaged skin and improve the appearance of wrinkles and stretch. All while having a having a soothing and calming effect, thanks to the lavender. Then oil is very concentrated so the large bottle will last you quite a while, especially if you as me, only use it on your tummy, and not use it all over your body – which admittedly can be very tempting as it smells divine with its natural fresh floral lavender scent that lingers on the skin for a while.

RRP: $59.95 (200ml) – Available from Vanessa Megan

Elemis Japanese Camellia Body Oil Blend*

Another body oil that is incredible is this Japanese Camellia Body Oil Blend from Elemis. It is free from chemical nasties and contains no parabens, SLS or SLES, DEA, mineral oil, artificial colours or silicones, it is perfectly suitable for use during pregnancy. It has the most divine scent from the camellia and it is a true multi-tasking aromatherapy oil that is not only good for the body keeping the skin soft and moisturised and for helping to reduce the appearance of scars and assist in the prevention of stretch marks, it is also suitable for a lot of other things including caring for your nails and cuticles, to taming and adding moisture to hair and scalp.

During pregnancy during a time you have to give up on so many other things - think anti-ageing products containing retinol, and believe me, most of them do, and not to mention all the foods that are not safe to eat – so it is a nice treat to use such a beautifully oil that leaves a divine scent behind for hours. And besides, the gorgeous red glass bottle looks stunning in the bathroom too!

RRP: $62 (100ml) – Available from
FacialCo

Sukin BioNatural Skin Oil*

If you are on a tighter budget, then you cannot go past this Skin Oil from Sukin. I have previously declared my love for the Australian budget brand, and you won’t be disappointed with this oil either. The Oil contains Tamanu, Carrot Seed and Rose Hip Oils offer a unique blend of essential fatty acids and antioxidants to help nourish and improve the skin’s appearance including the appearance of scars, stretchmarks and ageing skin. It also contains Vitamins C and F as well as avocado, calendula and vitamin E to hydrate and soften and brighten the skin. It comes in a convenient little pump bottle that makes it convenient and easy to use. And just a few pumps is all that is required if you use it on your tummy only, whereas of course, a little more is needed if you use it all over your body. It starts out a little greasy but absorbs easily leaving the skin feel soft, and with a lovely fruity scent.

RRP: $14.95 (60ml) – Available from Priceline, Select Pharmacies and Sukin Online

Aveeno Active Naturals Skin Relief Moisturising Lotion*

Aveeno is another one of those budget brand that you just cannot fault. The products are so effective, in spite of the low prices, and that includes this Skin Relief Moisturising Lotion. The thick cream has been formulated with natural colloidal oatmeal and cooling menthol to relieve and protect itchy, dry skin. The cream does take a while to absorb into the skin, but once it has, it is well worth the effort as it leaves the skin so soft and deeply nourished, with no need to reapply, so I like to use it in the mornings after my shower. It has a lovely cooling sensation thanks to the menthol which is lovely when your skin is itchy. I also love the mild and gentle menthol that it leaves behind on the skin.

RRP: $9.95 (225ml) – Available from Priceline, supermarkets and pharmacies

Vanessa Megan Garden Wonderland - Pregnancy Perfume / Morning Sickness Spray*

Also from Vanessa Megan is this natural perfume that also doubles as a morning sickness spray. I am a bit of a perfume junkie, and usually wear perfume every day, even when I’m ‘just’ at home, but during my pregnancies I have opted to only use them on very special occasions due to all the chemicals they contain. But this perfume from Vanessa Megan contains no alcohol that can dry out the skin, but is all natural containing a blend of natural essential oils that are considered safe to use during pregnancy. It among others contains essential oils of lavender that has a soothing and calming effect on the nerves, mandarin and lemon myrtle that gives it uplifting qualities, spearmint and peppermint essential oil which stimulate the mind it is great for mental fatigue, as well as ginger that is to help with morning sickness and nausea.

I did start using the perfume towards the end of the period I was suffering badly with morning sickness so it is difficult to say how it performed in that way. However, I do love the fresh uplifting citrusy scent – in fact I absolutely love fresh citrusy scents, so I already know that I will continue to use it even after giving birth!! It doesn’t last quite as well on the skin as ‘normal’ perfumes, but as it smells so lovely, I don’t mind reapplying in the middle of the day anyway! I also love that it is not synthetic but rather made from 100% natural ingredients.

RRP: $29.95 (100ml) – Available from Vanessa Megan

XMAS GIFT IDEA: SANCTUARY SPA LUXURY MOISTURE COLLECTION

Today it’s time to share with you another great Xmas gift idea, and this one the Sanctuary Spa Luxury Moisture Collection*, which contains absolutely everything for the ultimate body pamper session;

What They Say:

Experience ultimate indulgence with the power of oils in this luxury body pamper collection. Each product is enriched with gold of pleasure oil and clinically proven to lock in moisture for up to 5 days. RRP: $25.00 – Available from Priceline

What I Say:

This gift set truly contains absolutely everything you need for to give that tired body some TLC and help you relax, revive and rejuvenate and get into a more festive mood.

The gift set contains:

  • 2 Day Moisture Shower Oil, 250ml
  • 4 Day moisture Oil Scrub, 100g
  • 4 Day Moisture Body Oil Spray, 125ml
  • 5 Day Moisture Creamy Body Oil, 250ml
  • Loofa

Common for all the products is that they are containing olive oil and gold of pleasure oil, the ladder which I have never heard about before.

The 2 Day Moisture Shower Oil, has in spite of being called an oil, more of a standard shower gel texture and is hence slightly thicker than your standard oil. It claims to moisture the skin for two days with its oil formula, and while I am not quite sure if that is true, I do like that is certainly feels more hydrating on the skin. And what I like too is that it can also double as the perfect moisturising shaving cream in the shower.

4 Day moisture Oil Scrub is a an oil-based scrub made with fine salt crystals to exfoliate and infused with shea butter and facial oils to leave the skin soft and smooth and hydrated for up to four days.

The 4 Day Moisture Body Oil Spray is a two-phased spray with water and oils and added vitamin E to keep the skin soft and deeply moisturised, even after the very first use. The oil is quickly absorbed into the skin without leaving it feeling greasy or sticky.

5 Day Moisture Creamy Body Oil is in spite of the name actually a body lotion, although it has been infused with oils. And even though it contains the oils, it is absorbed quickly into the skin and leaves it feeling soft and smooth and with a nice sheen. The Body Oil claims to keep the skin moisturised for 5 days, even after taking another shower, but I am not quite sure about that claim, but do find that it is certainly sufficiently moisturised to keep my skin hydrated all day long with no need to reapply.

Finally, the pack also contains a Loofa, which is perfect to use in the shower with especially the shower oil or with any other shower gel, as it helps develop a nice soft foam, as well as it helps gently exfoliate the skin.

All the products have a nice warm scent from the oil that you can only love as it is still so subtle that it won’t clash with your perfume.

At just $25.00 this is a fantastic Xmas gift set for anyone that deserves to be pampered, and the products are all in a decent size so it makes it a great and decent priced buy too!

*Product was kindly provided for consideration, and has reviewed in accordance with my Disclosure Policy.

PRODUCT REVIEW: LUST HAVE IT OCTOBER 2014

On Friday the 7th November my Lust Have It October Box arrived. A week well into November. I thought the boxes were intended to be out my the middle of the relevant month, and not some two to three weeks later – and well, if that is the intention, it really means that the November box should arrive at my door step within the next week to 10 days…. Somehow I doubt it, but time will tell. Personally I cannot actually complain too much as the boxes are sent to me for consideration, but if I was a paying subscriber I would certainly not be happy – but still, I as I always try to be as honest as possible with my reviews, and the service is a major part of the beauty subscription boxes, I just had to make my comment regardless! Anyway, here are my thoughts on the October Lust Have it Box*;

What I Say:

As per previous months, this month the goodies again arrived in a pink see-through mesh bag. Last months box/bag unfortunately didn’t contain the info card, but luckily this month’s box did, which is great as I find them very helpful. Anyway, these are the products in bag;

Montaigne Jeunesse Glacial Clay Spa Mask - Full Sized (RRP: $4.99)

I have tried quite a few of these face masks and generally really like them, so certainly no complaints about the inclusion of this one. And as I have only tried their standard mud masks, I do look forward to trying out this cloth mask that has been infused with clay.

Colour by TBN lipstick in ‘A Kiss is Still A Kiss’ – Full Sized (RRP: $3.50)

When I first saw this lipstick I thought it was one from Maybelline!! But rather is a more budget brand costing just $3.50 – and that said, sorry, but it doesn’t really excite me that much. The colour, though, is a lovely dusty brownish rose shade, which is quite wearable.

Glamourflage Eye Mask – Full Sized (RRP: $7.95)

This is a sleep eye mask with a leopard print. Quite cute, but to be honest I don’t really know what to do with it as I never use an eye mask.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse – Sample Size, 10ml (RRP: $24.95/50ml)

I already have a full sized bottle of this oil, and have used up a couple of bottles before that, which proves that I really like this body oil that both nourishes dry skin and helps with stretchmarks, all while smelling amazing. So getting the sample is certainly a bonus, and it is a rather cute sized one too. Wish I had had this when I when I recently went to Europe!

So Susan Intense Eye Shadow - Full sized (RRP: $35)

This compact contains four grey/blue/purplish shades and is quite lovely, but sadly I am not really that fond of using those shades, I am a more conservative nude kind of girl, so it is a little wasted. However, it is a gorgeous palette, and I am sure I have a friend who will be absolute ecstatic if I pass it on to her.

Inika Organic Black Kohl Pencil with sharpener - Full Sized (RRP: $29)

I always use either a black or a dark brown eyeliner, so this is a great addition, plus I haven’t really tried that many products from the brand Inika, so I do like that too. In saying that, and now this may just be me being a little harsh, but I find that eyeliners is one of those staple makeup items that sadly it doesn’t really excite me, regardless of how great the brand it is! I would have been more excited to see any other makeup product from the brand. But again, using eyeliner every day, it still definitely won’t go to waste, plus I do really like that it has the in-built sharpener in the lid.

So there you go, the contents in the October box. Unfortunately, like last month, I am sadly not extremely impressed, although it is definitely an improvement over last month – and I guess the reason why I am not overly impressed is more down to personal makeup colour preferences, so as mentioned previously, if Lust Have It could manage to custom make their boxes, it would be so much more likely to impress. So that said, I am sure that there are others who find these products to be their perfect matches. The products in the box do have a combined value of over $85, so in that respect it is value for money. I hope the November box ticks a few more boxes for me, and hopefully it will actually arrive in the month of November!!

BRAND FOCUS: BE GENKI VITAL RANGE

Today I’d like to introduce you to the brand Be genki. Be genki is a range of natural and organic self-care products are designed to help you feel refreshed, relaxed, and revitalised. There are four different blends, vital, tranquil, serene and sensual. Here are my thoughts on the Be genki Vital Range*;

RRP: $26 (50ml) - Available from Be Naturallyou

Be Vital Oil Blend: A highly concentrated blend of pure organic essential oils. Ideally designed to be used in an oil burner or in the bath.

RRP: $23 (10ml) - Available from Be Naturallyou
Be Vital Candle: Kind to both you and the environment, Be genki Vital Candles are made from soy wax and scented with pure organic essential oils only, to infuse your room with a fresh vital scent that uplifts.

RRP: $52 - Available from Be Naturallyou

Be Vital Herbal Tea: Made with love and certified organic ingredients by Abundance Herbs for Be genki, to create an awakening alive feeling. Easing adrenal exhaustion, and promoting a feeling of wellbeing.

RRP: $22 (40g) - Available from Be Naturallyou

What I Say:

I love the fact that the Be genki products are natural, organic, GM-free, vegan and cruelty-free.

The Be genki Vital range of products has been designed to be used whenever you would like a little “pick me up.” Perfect for use first thing in the morning or after work to give you a little “boost” prior to the evening’s activities. It is utilising the properties of pure organic essential oils: Peppermint, Lemon Myrtle, Eucalyptus and Rosemary.

It is as if this range has been designed with me in mind!!! I am currently feeling tired and drained, and constantly in need of a pick me up, as having a teething toddler that wakes several times during the night, just wears you down after a while – so I was naturally excited to put the Vital range to the test.

The Be Vital Face Mist does say that it is perfect for use during hot summer days, but I have found it equally perfect for using during winter. My skin is not normally sensitive, but a walk with the pram and the dogs in the chilly Melbourne winter weather is enough to leave my cheeks red hot flushed and wind burnt. Luckily a quick spray with the face mist, and my skin is instantly feeling soothed and refreshed and any lost moisture replenished. It has the most gorgeous gentle refreshing scent that lingers around too, thanks to containing Peppermint infused water, organic Peppermint, oil, organic Lemon Myrtle oil, organic Rosemary oil and organic Eucalyptus oil.

It is also recommended for use during long flights, and I do plan to take it with me on my next long-haul flight to Europe, and I love that it size-wise applies to airline restrictions, and although love the glass bottle, for travelling purposes I would have preferred if it had come in a plastic bottle.

The scent of the essential oils (lemon myrtle, peppermint, eucalyptus and rosemary) will be helpful for your little one who has a cold, as they are great for respiratory issues, and have anti-viral properties. So perhaps a few drops of the 100% Pure and Organic Vital Oil Blend with water in an oil burner in the room that you’re all in might be helpful. (Safe and well-away from curious little baby hands though.)

The Be Vital Body Oil is a lightweight, moisture-intensive body oil designed to soften your skin and invigorate your senses. And in spite of being to light and instantly absorbing into the skin without leaving it feeling greasy, you can instantly feel it intensely nourishing your skin, leaving it soft and deeply moisturised.

The Body Oil contains organic cold-pressed Sunflower oil, organic cold-pressed virgin Hemp seed oil, organic cold-pressed virgin Avocado oil, organic cold-pressed virgin Rosehip oil, organic Peppermint oil, organic Lemon Myrtle oil, organic Rosemary oil, organic Eucalyptus oil. And it smells absolutely divine. The face mist smells lovely, but the body oil far exceeds it. Maybe because I cannot resist a zesty lemon scent, and this one is just that. Absolutely incredible, so I love that this scent lingers on my skin for hours.

The Body Oil is very concentrated so you don’t need to use a lot. Like the face mist, it comes in a gorgeous glass bottle with a pump.

The Be Vital Oil Blend is a highly concentrated blend of pure organic essential oils and it has been designed to be used in an oil burner or in the bath. I rarely take baths, sadly just never seem to have the time to do it, but I am a frequent user of our oil burner. We have two Labradors living inside the house, so a nice scented oil in the oil burner stops the house smelling too ‘doggy’!

As with the other Be genki products, the Oil Blend is extremely concentrated, so it just takes half a dozen drops in the oil burner, and within minutes that gorgeous uplifting and refreshingly clean scent is spreading through the whole house – instantly hiding any smell of dogs and last night’s dinner too. It contains Peppermint oil, organic Lemon Myrtle oil, organic Rosemary oil, and organic Eucalyptus oil.

If I am not burning my oil burner, I am always burning a scented candle at night. And the Be Vital Candle, like the Oil Blend, smells absolutely amazing. The candle is made from soy wax, so it is kind to your health as it doesn’t burn with a grey smoke that stains your walls – and even worse, the inside of your lungs.

And it has added pure organic essential oils of organic Peppermint oil, organic Lemon Myrtle oil, organic Rosemary oil, and organic Eucalyptus oil and it instantaneously fills your home with the most refreshing and uplifting citrus scent. And even when you’ve blown out the candle, this scent keeps lingering in the air for hours. Absolutely amazing, and it burns for a massive 40 hours you can continue to enjoy it for weeks.

I have to be honest and admit that I am generally a coffee drinker. However, the last few months I’ve realised that I’ve been drinking way too much of it, so I’ve put myself on a kind of ‘coffee diet’ if you like, only allowing myself one cup of coffee a day, and I feel so much better for it. But when its winter and cold, I still like to enjoy a hot cup of tea, and this Be Vital Herbal Tea is so beautiful. It is made by Abundance Herbs for Be genki. It contains Green Tea, Echinacea, Lemon Grass, Peppermint, Rosehips, Lemon Myrtle, Liquorice Root, Astragalus, Withania and Ginger and is intended to create an awakening alive feeling, easing adrenal exhaustion, and promoting a feeling of wellbeing.

And as my preferred tea is either peppermint, which is shown to help relieve symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and while I don’t have IBS, but rather a bowel illness, Colitis Ulcerosa, I find that it helpful too. Or I prefer to sip on lemon tea, as it is so refreshing and uplifting – so this tea is the perfect combination of both, containing both peppermint and lemon grass and lemon myrtle, and it is simply so stunning that I plan on not only replacing it but also trying out the other varieties in the range. You may think that it is a small pack of tea, but it is of such high quality hat you only need a small teaspoon of the tea leaves in your tea pot. You then infuse it for 5-10 minutes before you drink, being careful, as with all tea and coffee not to use water that is still boiling as it can potential damage beneficial properties of the tea.

Overall, I really love these Vital products from Be genki, and they are each so unique that it is impossible for me to pick a favourite, as there is a place for each and every one of them in my life – and if it was up to me, I’d also love to see the range included to include other products such as hand creams, body butters and maybe some incense sticks too!

I am not sure if they give me a much needed pick-me up, but I really enjoy how the products feel on my skin, and how stunning they smell. I love the simple, yet stunning packaging with the stunning peachy-coral labels, but what I love even more, is that I actually understand all the ingredients that are being used in the products. There are simply none of those difficult to pronounce potentially harmful chemical ingredients in sight on the ingredients list. LOVE!

PRODUCT REVIEW: VIOLET BOX MAY 2014

Another month gone, and it is now just a few days away from officially being winter – and it is yet again time for a beauty box review. Here are my thoughts on the *May Violet Box;

What They Say:
Violet Box brands promises to every month include 4-6 premium beauty and lifestyle samples from well-known and trusted Australian beauty brands as well as exciting new International brands, one in particular is a revolutionary product currently trending in New York and has been featured in Vogue and on the Today Show!

RRP: You can subscribe to Violet Box for:
1 month – $22.95
3 months - $66.00
6 months - $130
12 months - $250
- Available from Violet Box

What I Say:
As always, the Violet box has arrived in the usual stylish black matte box, and this is what was in it;

As per the sneak peak in last month’s Box, the May box included a Goldwell StyleSign Sleek Perfection….

Goldwell StyleSign Sleek Perfection – Sample 20ml (RRP: Full size $24.95)

This is a thermal spray to protect the hair from hot styling tools, and which is humidity resistant for up to 24 hours to maintain silky straight hair. This sounds pretty good to me, although I have to admit that I rarely have time to straighten my long hair these days. But it is handy to have at hand for those times when it does happen, and the small size is perfect for travelling and weekends away.

LUSH Popcorn Lip Scrub – Full size ($9.95/25g)

I have actually never tried a lip scrub before, usually using my usual face scrub, so I am excited to try this one from Lush. It contains coconut and jojoba oils, as well as sugar, sea salt and polenta to leave the lips soft and moisturised. I am not the greatest fan of coconut scented products, but luckily the coconut scent is not too strong in this product, so I look forward to testing this one out!

Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil – Full Size (RRP: $24.95)

I have never heard of Chella before, so I love the inclusion of this one. The pencil can be used to highlight, conceal and brighten the brow and eye area, and is perfect for applying on the brow bone, and dark circles, blemishes and red spots, so this is a fantastic multi-tasking pencil. The pale skin toned product is soft and creamy, and easy to use, so I am very excited about this one and cannot wait to put it to the test.

Eve’s Ready to wear Lipstick by Teeez – Full Size (RRP: 32.00)

Last month in the April Violet box there was a Teeez nail polish included, and that was the first I’d ever heard of Teeez, and as I’ve loved the nail polish, I love the addition of this lipstick this month. It claims to nourish, hydrate and repair cracked and dry lips, and has a pale nude pinky shade, that is so lovely. And it comes in such a cute packaging, and it smells divine too. I love it!

Timeless Truth Miracle Rejuvenation Mask (Lifting Mask) – Full Size (RRP: $7.00)

This cloth mask claims to be an intensive skin refining mask to bring back a fresh, pure look and feel of younger skin, rejuvenating dull and lifeless skin, leaving it looking radiant and even toned. IT also helps improve the appearance of age spots, fine lines and wrinkles. How amazing does that sound, and I cannot wait to use it, it is just what my skin needs – now just need to find the 15-20 minutes where I can lie down and relax while it works its magic!

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse – Sample sachet, 4ml – (RRP: $24.95/50ml, $39.95/100ml)
I love this oil which can be used on the face, body and in the hair, and already have a full sized bottle – this also means that I am not extremely excited about this one – but in saying that, it has only been a few months since I bought the bottle, and before that, the product was high on my wish list, so it is just bad timing. And as it is such a fantastic product, I certainly don’t mind the inclusion, as it will definitely be put to good use.

Nuxe Crème Merveillance – Sample sachet, 2ml – (RRP: $64.95/50ml)
Now this cream excited me a whole lot more as I’ve wanted to try more products from Nuxe, but sadly this is intended for dry skin, so I am not so sure how it will go on my combination skin – but in saying that, my skin is always getting a little drier as we head towards winter, so I will certainly be testing it out.

Finally, there is also a teaser for the June box, which will be including a ghd Straight & Tame Cream – sounds pretty good to me!

I am impressed. Month after month Violet Box manages to maintain – or I would go as far as to say continuously improve the fantastic value of the boxes, as well a great variety of products. This month saw the inclusion of a whole four full sized products, and three great samples – all of which I will enjoy trying and using. And I also love the variety of the products, from face and body care, lip product, makeup and hair – there really is something for everyone! With just the full sized products, the box has a value of $71, and again, add to that the three samples. How great is that.

Well done Violet Box!
