Now who doesn’t squeal a little at the sight of gold. I admit that I actually prefer white gold or silver to gold, but when it comes to skincare the addition of gold just makes it seem so much more luxurious. So needless to say that I was super excited when a selection of golden products from Japanese Sassou landed on my desk.
Sassou in the Japanese language means “free & breezy from heaviness”, which is also the philosophy behind the products, to leave the skin feeling light and refreshed after use, while offering noticeable skin benefits.
I put a selection of products to the test, including the Sassou Japan Gold Beauty Cleansing bar*, the Gold Shimmering Ess-Toner*, and the Gold Eye Shiteru Shimmering Eye Gel*. All of these products have one incredible ingredient in common, 24K GOLD, which is can help rejuvenate skin cells, improve blood circulation, enhance skin metabolism.
The Sassou Japan Gold Beauty Cleansing bar is a soap bar that has been designed for all skin types , and it contains among others;
The first thing you notice about the golden soap bar is all the gorgeous sparkling particles of gold leafs inside the soap. Looks stunning.
The soap can be used morning and evening and promises to help penetrate the pores and pull out impurities with its soft and delicate lather, that feels so gorgeous and luxurious to use. To use, you simply later it up with a and then massage the foam into the face before rinsing off.
The soap is not for removing makeup, but it is fantastic for using as a second cleanse, and it really take cleansing to the next level as it is so beautiful to use.
And after each use, my skin is left feeling incredibly soft and smooth and so glowing too. I have not noticed any significant difference to my fine lines and wrinkles, but my blemish prone skin is loving the deep, yet gentle cleanse.
The bar comes in a comes in a plastic box which is shaped and also looks like glass box - and if I have a negative to say about this product, its about this container, as while it does look nice and suit the product, I feel that for the high price, it really would have been nice if it had actually been made of glass, just to give it the luxe feel it deserves. I sadly feel that this plastic container lets the product down a little also also de-values the product.
The there’s the Sassou Japan Gold Shimmering Ess-Toner, which as the name suggests, to be used after cleansing, morning and night. Yo use it by gently patting it into the skin until it has fully absorbed.
The toner contains among others;
The toner also helps detoxify and clarify, and refine the pores, while keeping the skin hydrated, dewy and fresh, and also leave the skin looking healthy and radiant.
I love that it not only helps fight breakouts, but also signs of ageing including sagging skin and pigmentation, helping to white and brighten my skin.
The toner is recommended for all skin types, but due to its moisturising properties, and with my combination skin, I prefer to use the toner at night. It absorbs easily and quickly into the skin and I love how it immediately makes my skin look and feel, deeply hydrated, soft and glowing.
This is without a doubt the most beautiful toner I’ve ever used. It comes in a tall sleek glass-looking bottle allowing you to see the clear liquid-like-gel with all the gold particles, and it has a beautiful floral scent. It is simply stunning, and again, while it makes makes the skin feel beautiful, the fact that the product both looks, feels and smells beautiful, simply adds to the luxuriousness.
Finally, there’s the Sassou Japan Gold Eye Shiteru Shimmering Eye Gel, designed to help hydrate, brighten and contour the eye area, while helping to reduce fine lines and dark circles.

The eye gel can be used morning and night, and I love that it helps fight ageing around the eye area. The light gel formula has tiny pieces of pure gold suspense unto the gel, which along with the collagen helps target bags, puffiness and wrinkles under they eyes,
This eye gel not only looks incredible in its pastel pink round jar, but the golden specks throughout the gel makes it look amazing too. And even though it is very light and absorbs quickly and easily, without any greasiness or stickiness, it is obvious how moisturising it is. I also love how it has a gorgeous soothing and cooling sensation on the skin, which you can further enhance by keeping the eye gel in the fridge.
Overall, these products from Sassou Japan really are lovely in every way, and they add such a luxury touch to your skincare regimen thanks to the added gold that makes them stunning to look at, while feeling gorgeous on the skin. But as well as loving how they feel on my skin, I also love how, within just a few days, they have made my skin appear less greasy and congested, yet clearly more intensely hydrated, and therefore looking softer, smoother, more plump, and with the most gorgeous radiant glow.
If you can afford the splurge, I wouldn’t hesitate recommending these for anyone looking for some luxurious products that are beautiful both to use, as well as sitting pretty on your vanity. Personally, I certainly wouldn't mind putting more of the gorgeous products from the range to the test.
