PRODUCT REVIEW: MESOESTETIC BODYSHOCK PUSH-UP
Sadly after two pregnancies, and breast feeding both, things are no longer as 'tight' as they used to be, so when the newest release from Mesoestetic Pharma Group, BodyShock Push-Up landed on my desk, I was naturally intrigued…
BodyShock Push-Up, is an at-home firming cream for the breasts and bum, aimed at making these areas firmer and more elastic again, reducing stretchmarks and combating things such as hormonal changes, weight fluctuations, pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as too much exposure to the sun, which can all result in the skin becoming flabby.
The BodyShock Push-Up is made using African kigelia, hydrolysed vegetable proteins and amino acids, which help to stimulate the skin on the breasts and bum so that the skin's natural systems are synthesised and optimised, thus treating the main cause of flabbiness at the source.
BodyShock Push-Up not only promises to provide firming and tensing effect with stimulating properties, helping to repair tissues that have lost elasticity and firmness. It also helps to recover the skin’s plumpness, especially in the bum and breast area, also fighting stretchmarks while adding moisture and leaving the skin soft.
I must admit that I was a little sceptical, but with nothing to lose, I decided to put it to the test… So what did I think…
The BodyShock Push-Up cream comes with massaging instructions on how to best use and apply, and it is recommended to massage it into the skin on the breasts and bum once a day in the morning.
And after a few weeks of daily use, I am actually surprised to say that I am very impressed with the results of this cream as I was starting to see the results, and my skin was clearly looking more firmer and more toned. No, boobies and bum are not back to where they were pre-pregnancies and two times 16+ kg weight gains, but I am still very impressed, especially with the result on my breasts, which is also the area I was most wanting to treat, and here I felt that the skin also appeared more plump.
The actual cream has a light consistency, and it absorbs quickly and easily into the skin, and without any greasiness, so you can get dressed immediately. I also love that it is super gentle, so it is also suitable for those breast implants as well as you can even use it during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Now why wasn't this launched earlier!!
At $150 this BodyShock Push-Up cream doesn't come cheap, but as we all know, these areas are difficult areas to treat, and if the alternative is expensive, and possibly invasive professional treatments, then this is a great alternative that will still save you money.

PRODUCT REVIEW: RETINOL TREATMENTS - MEDIK8 10TR SERUM, MESOESTETIC POST-PEEL 1% RETINOL AND SKINMEDICA AGE DEFENSE RETINOL COMPLEX 1.0
I admit that I am no specialist, but one thing I do know, and that is that Retinol, also called Vitamin A has been proven to have amazing benefits or the skin, and is hence a very popular anti-ageing ingredient.
The research has shown that it can help visibly reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, make the skin firmer, give the skin a smoother look and improve uneven skin tone.
The use of retinol does come with some limitations, including that you shouldn't use it while you're pregnant or lactating, and that it can make the skin become very sensitive, and hence the daily use of a SPF is necessary, plus besides, what's the point of fighting the signs of ageing if you don't protect your skin from the sun's damaging rays.
It is also recommended that you start gentle, with a milder strength, and perhaps just a few times a week, before increasing frequency and eventually the strength, as going too strong and too frequently can make the skin extremely sensitive, red or make it peel.
Now, I am currently breastfeeding, so it has been a while since I have actually used these, and I keep wanting to use them, but know that I best not use them again yet. And so I have had this feature in the pipeline for so long, but thought it was time now..
So here's a selection of retinol products which I cannot wait to get slather on my skin yet again..
The Medik8 Retinol 10TR Advanced Night Serum is a very light and slightly runny serum, which is, as the name suggests is to be used nightly after cleansing and before moisturiser. With 1% retinol it is the highest strength available in the Medik8 range, so if you're new to retinol, they suggest trying one of the lower strength products first to get you skin used to it. This particular formula also has added vitamin E, to help counter any dryness and keep the skin moisturised and soft.
It helps stimulate the production of collagen, while improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and reducing dark spots and pigmentation at the same time, making the skin softer and look brighter and more glowing. I also found that it helped make my skin less greasy, and reduced the amount of breakouts, and their sizes considerably - and as I am currently experiencing some breakouts, I am really wanting to start using again, as it is one of the anti-ageing products that does not actually cause breakouts, but rather minimise them while fighting the signs of ageing at the same time. It comes in a small bottle with a dropper applicator that makes it easy to dispense the few drops needed at a time.
Then there's the SkinMedica Age Defense Retinol Complex 1.0, which is also the strongest strength retinol available from SkinMedica, and is also intended for use at night. This treatment has more of a light lotion feel, but still absorbs quickly into the skin. It has been made with an encapsulated antioxidant complex which helps preserve the retinol until it has absorbed into the skin as well as target the delivery, while helping to enhance the skin texture and minimise any irritation. The serum promises to help fight the signs of ageing, including coarse and dull skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, reduce congestion and breakouts making the skin clearer and feeling matte, enhance skin texture and improving hyperpigmentation. And already after using for a few days, I can tell the difference when I am using this. The oil production in my skin really is normalised and my skin is less greasy, but it also generally makes my skin look healthier and brighter, which is impressive after just a few days.
Finally, the Mesoestetic Post-Peel 1% Retinol Concentrate, which comes the largest size, and is also the most expensive in the line up. It has a thicker lotion consistency, which does means that you will be using a bit more than with the thinner serums, but still, it will naturally last you the longest, but alas also comes at the higher cost.
It has been made with rosemary extract, aloe vera, lactic acid, vitamin E, and is intended to be used as to prolong and boost the renewing effect of mesopeel, by helping to improve the appearance of wrinkles and skin elasticity, while stimulating collagen in the skin and keeping the skin moisturised.
It is slightly different in that it is supposed to be massaging into the skin, avoiding the eye area, following a peel, to help neutralise the peel, then left on the skin for 2 hours, before being rinsed off with water.
I really enjoyed using all three of these, and thus find it difficult to pick a favourite - the Mesoestetic is very different from the first two, making it difficult to compare as it is more 'mask like', which is also nice as an extra treatment for an extra peeling effect. And as for the Medik8 and the SkinMedica, which the retinol concentration is the same, they are different in formula and consistency. But one thing I certain, I love treating my skin with retinol as again, I really feels it makes a difference to how my skin looks, making it look more glowing and younger too, and as a bonus it also helps treat and keep breakouts at bay.
But again, it is important to stress that there can be some serious side effects when using retinol, so make sure you consult an expert before use!

PRODUCT REVIEW: MESOESTETIC ENERGY C PEEL-OFF MASK
One of those cosmeceutical brand that I have really loved lately is mesoestetic, so whenever new products are launched, it always gets me excited. Today I'd like to share with you the Energy C Peel-Off Mask by mesoestetic.
This mask, or should I say masks, as they actually come as 6 individually packed little ones. These masks are dual action mask, featuring both detoxifying and anti-ageing properties.

The film-forming mask helps eliminate impurities and dead cells, revealing a fresher, more luminous and revitalised skin. It stimulates collagen and hyaluronic acid synthesis to provide an instant lifting effect, erasing signs of fatigue and expression lines.
The masks contains among others;
- Chronosmart Peptide to detect what the skin needs at all times by synchronizing skin cell biorhythms producing an intelligent 24-hour action. By day it stimulates the awakening of the skin, promoting its capacity of self-protection, while at night, it increases its ability to repair and renew itself
- Retinol to stimulate cellular renewal and collagen production.
- Phytic Acid which is highly moisturizing, illuminating and improves skin elasticity
The masks also contains a high concentration of vitamin C (ascorbic acid), to help effectively respond to the first signs of photo-aging, helping to brighten the skin, boost collagen, eliminate impurities and dead cells, revealing a fresher, more luminous and revitalized looking skin, with a more lifted look, where signs of fatigue and expression lines are lifted.
The masks are suitable for tired and stressed skin, and it is recommended to use one 1-2 times a week. To use, you simply apply entire contents of capsule to the face in an even layer, avoiding the sensitive area around the eyes, and leave on for 20 minutes to dry. When completely dry, gently peel of the edge of the mask and remove in an upward direction.
I've always found it 'fun' to peel of peel-off masks and these ones are no exception. I love the small 'coffee-pod' style packages, which are also super convenient for taking with you when travelling. And the results are nothing short of amazing. After using just one mask, my skin was clearly brighter and more glowing and radiant, and my skin looked like I had just had the longest beauty sleep of my life (which with two teething toddlers are a thing of the past!!), with any tiredness clearly lessened, and consequently my skin also looked as if it was suddenly years younger. Talking about turning back time!
With continued use, these masks clearly have an even bigger impact on the skin, and I feel that the high dose of vitamin C is also helping clear up my skin to the point that I have felt that I've had less of those huge 'under the skin' breakouts that I have otherwise struggled with lately, and those breakouts that I've had, also seem to have cleared up a lot faster than normal.
Overall, I am really in love with these Energy C Peel-Off Masks, as they really do give my skin a much needed boost of energy and life, which also makes them perfect to use just before going out to special events etc. Definitely highly recommended.

PRODUCT REVIEW: MESOESTETIC RADIANCE DNA HAND CREAM
I have always taken care of my hands, having hand creams in every single hand bag, in my car, drawers, bedside table, car, you name it, and I've got a hand cream there - but thing is, while I have long been using intense anti-ageing product for my face, more often than not, my hand creams are just 'basic' creams that keep my hands soft and moisturised, without tackling any anti-ageing issues. So when the new Mesoestetic Radiance DNA Hand Cream was launched, I was naturally excited, also because this is a brand that I have really enjoyed lately for their effective and innovative formulas.
The Mesoestetic Radiance DNA Hand Cream has been designed to regenerate, repair and moisturise the hands, while also protecting the skin against aggressors including changes in temperatures (think chilly winter days!), UV rays etc, and helping to delay the appearance of wrinkles, pigmentation and dark spots.
The hand cream contains among others;
- Chronosmart Peptide, which detects skin needs at all times by synchronizing skin cell biorhythms producing an intelligent 24-hour action. By day, it stimulates the awakening of the skin, promoting its potential for self-protection, while at night, it increases its ability to repair and renew itself
- SPF 15 to protect against UV damage
- Shea Butter for its protective, regenerating and repairing action
- Provitamin B5, which is a soothing agent, helps repair the stratum corneum
- Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that neutralises free radicals
The hand cream has a nice thick consistency, and does take a few moments to absorb fully into the skin, but once it has, it leaves the skin feeling silky soft and smooth, and I'm not sure if the cream possibly contains some microscopic shimmer particles, but it also leaves my hands with a beautiful healthy sheen. It also has a beautiful soft floral fragrance that I just cannot get enough of, so luckily it does linger for a while, so I can continue to smell my hands when I'm using it.
I am yet to se any major difference in the appearance of lines, wrinkles and pigmentation on my hands, but what has taken years and years to develop, you also shouldn't expect to be corrected within a few weeks. But that said, I do love how it makes my hands so soft and smooth, and they certainly feel thoroughly nourished and moisturised and have that healthy glow, so it is clearly benefiting my hands more than my usual 'basic' hand cream. And I also love that it is an 'intelligent' cream that helps stimulate the skin during the day, and repair it at night.
Sadly it doesn't come cheap, but if you ask me, if you're like me, you probably spend a fortune on skincare for your face, so I believe that it is worth you doing so on your hands as well - although, I also have to openly admit that with two toddlers in nappies I do wash my hands more times than I can count during the day, so sometimes it is washed off after just a few minutes of applying it during the day, so to make the cream last that bit longer, I have started using it predominantly at night only, so the cream can do its magic over night!

PRODUCT REVIEW: MESOESTETIC PURIFYING MOUSSE AND IMPERFECTION CONTROL
With combination skin prone to breakouts, cleansing and looking after my skin is the key to keeping it as healthy as possible - and a good cleaner is essential to keeping my skin as clean as possible, and should one of those pesky breakouts appear, a good blemish treatment is also vital. Lately I've been enjoying the Mesoestetic Purifying Mousse and the Imperfection Control.
The Mesoestetic Purifying Mousse is a cleansing mousse - actually it is a liquid, but when you pump it out of the bottle it comes out as a mousse - and it is designed to purify and cleanse blemish prone and seborrhoeic skin, so it's perfect for my combination skin when it is having one of those troublesome periods.
The cleanser is extremely light, yet this airy foam is packed with active ingredients such as;
It is best used morning and night to treat and remove excess sebum and impurities from the skin - and you simply wet the face and massage it into the skin with your fingers before rising it off with water. I am unsure it is any good at removing makeup, because to be honest, at night, i prefer to use my makeup removers, and then follow with this cleanser to give my skin a good clean, and ensure that it benefits from the active ingredients.
Often cleansers for oily and blemish prone skin are very harsh and drying on the skin, but not this cleanser - it is very gentle, and after use, my skin is left looking clean and refined and is soft, without any irritation or tightness.
When emergency strikes and blemishes pop up, which sadly they have for me a little more often lately, I think mainly due to immense stress in my life, I have been reaching for the Mesoestetic Imperfection Control.
This Imperfection control has been formulated for local treatment of emerging or rebellious blemish breakouts. The tiny tube contains among others;
This Imperfection Control really has done wonders for a couple of stubborn pimples under the skin that I've been struggling to get rid of - after just a few applications they have significantly reduced in size and cleared up not long after. And all without irritating or drying out my skin. I also really like the concealing effect, which makes it perfect for using during the day under makeup too.

This Imperfection Control really has done wonders for a couple of stubborn pimples under the skin that I've been struggling to get rid of - after just a few applications they have significantly reduced in size and cleared up not long after. And all without irritating or drying out my skin. I also really like the concealing effect, which makes it perfect for using during the day under makeup too.

PRODUCT REVIEW: MESOESTETIC STEM CELL BODY SERUM
For as long as I can remember I have been using anti-ageing products on my face, but for some reason, when it comes to body care, I have kept that more simple with more basic products, well knowing it was time to step up the game. So when the Stem Cell Body Serum from Mesoestetic landed on my desk, needless to say that I was very excited.
Starting with the name of this body serum 'stem cell' The Mesoestetic Stem Cell Body Serum sounds pretty high tech - and it is. It is a body treatment hat has been designed to help protect existing skin cells by stimulating the skin's natural self-repair process: stem Cell.
The serum has been made with nano-encapsulated plant stem cells extract to help combat advanced signs of photo-ageing and repair skin damage caused by intrinsic factors, skin stress, or environmental exposure. That the plant stem cell extract are nano-encapsulated, means that they have been encapsulated in liposomes to enhance ingredient penetration into the skin and thereby achieve more optimal results.
The Body Serum also contains Chronosmart peptide to detect what the skin needs at all times and of providing it with exactly what it needs acting on the cellular biorythms - in short this means that during the day, stem Cell body serum protects skin structures for younger, firmer looking skin, and night it activates skin rejuvenation, heeling and renewal and provides the skin with intensive nourishment, boosting its energy reserves - speak of being high tech!!
In addition, it also contains Retinol to help stimulate cell renewal and Rosemary extract to improve micro circulation, promoting drainage and a consequent anti-cellulite effect.
All in all, the Stem Cell Body Serum promises to moisturise, firm, and help redefine the figure, providing a complete anti-ageing treatment by helping to increase body metabolism, stimulate cells and tone tissues. Phew!!
I've been using the Body Serum for just over a month, every morning after my shower, and also most nights, now and I am nothing short of amazed at the results.
The light cream comes in a white tube, and absorbs fairly quickly into the skin, without leaving the skin feeling greasy or sticky, but rather it feels incredibly velvety soft and smooth, and the skin stays feeling like that for hours after applying it. In spite of being so light, you can however tell that it provides intense moisture, and even dry patches of skin immediately feels so soft again with just one application. It is also worth mentioning that the Body Serum has the most divine floral scent that lingers on the skin for long after it has been absorbed, -if you're sensitive to strong scents you may not like this, but personally I absolutely adore this scent and can't stop smelling my skin.
So how did it perform... Well, after two pregnancies, where I gained 15-16kgs each time (which I've luckily all gotten rid off again), needless to say that the firmness and elasticity of my skin is no longer what it has been. And at my age, neither is the tone of my skin, which is clearly uneven and sun-damaged. But I am impressed to say that i feel my skin feels both softer ad smoother and without a doubt more firm too - Where I can see it the most, is on my arms and décolleté, which is also where I've been most meticulous in applying the serum - the skin here simply feels so much softer and smoother, and in particularly the skin on my décolleté, where I've also got a fair bit of pigmentation as well as the skin has started to age, seems to be both softer and smoother, with fine lines appearing minimised, but also the skin also feels firmer as well as the skin seems to be more even in tone.
At $120 this is not a cheap body treatment, but if you're if you're serious about looking giving your face the best of anti-ageing care, really you should do the same to your body. Personally I am hooked, and do regret not using more 'intense' body products sooner, but better late than never - and here honestly admit to only using this beautiful and luxurious body serum on my upper body to make it last that little bit longer! Definitely highly recommended.

PRODUCT REVIEW: MESOESTETIC PURE RENEWING FACE MASK
Having always struggled with skin breakuots, and have (and still am) going through a period of extremely stress, has made my skin recently go bonkers again, so when Mesoestetic’s new Pure Renewing Face Mask landed on my doorstep I was naturally excited. This mask is an exfoliating and purifying facial mask specifically designed for blemish-prone and seborrhoeic skin.
The masked has been designed for weekly use and includes a unique m.acne complex™ that provides both chemical and mechanical exfoliation to keep the skin soft and smooth, by clearing it of dead skin cells and impurities, while it also helps to stimulate the cellular renewal thanks to the contents of bexaretinyl complex. It also has added kaolin that absorbs excess sebum to prevent a build up of oil.
The m.acne complex has been formulated to target different factors that trigger acne, including among others:
- Reduce the levels of hormones involved in the androgen process related to acne-prone skin
- Unblock clogged pores
- Slow down the production of sebum
- Inhibit the growth of acne-causing bacteria
- Reduce and post-inflammatory redness and pigmentation
The mask is hence best used on acne-prone skin, tending to be combination or oily, and as such I probably would not recommend using it on drier skin, as it may be too drying.
It is recommended using the mask weekly, applying a generous layer on the skin, avoiding the sensitive eye area. It then needs to be left on the skin for approx. 10 minutes to work its magic, before you then massage it gently into the skin to allow the tiny micro particles to slug away any dead skin cells and impurities. Hereafter you rinse it off, and apply your moisturisers as per usual.
And immediately after use I can see how clear and refined my skin looks, soft and smooth, and pores appearing smaller in size, yet without drying out my skin, or making it read or irritated.
I have used the mask a few times now as part of my Sunday pampering routine, and can clearly see and feel that frequent use is having a positive effect on my skin, as it also seems less greasy and consequently my makeup stays put for longer too without sliding off my face. But I also seem to be getting less breakouts too, and those that I do get seem to be smaller and clear up faster too. I absolutely love this mask as I feel it is making such a difference to my skin, that I can definitely see myself repurchasing this.

PRODUCT REVIEW: MESOESTETIC X.PROF 052 GLYCOLIC ACID WITH VIT. E AND F
Once upon a time, when I was working my way up the corporate ladder, and had no mortgage, I’d have regular facials. But then it happened – we bought a house, or rather I should say, built a big house, with a mortgage to match, I stopped working to have my beautiful little boy who is now one year old – and consequently, neither time, nor the finances allow for these little luxuries anymore. So when I was asked to trial the Mesoestetic x.prof 052 Glycolic Acid with Vit. E and F*, I happily accepted, here are my thoughts;
What They Say:

I have previously tried, and love the John Plunkett Skincare Essentials Glyco Peel 25% Glycolic Acid Night-Time Exfoliator – it has greatly helped improve my skin during a period of serious breakouts, and it comes at a purse-friendly $28.95 for 15ml.
So if this is so great, you may ask why you would fork out a massive $118?
The Mesoestetic’s new Glycolic Acid 10% + Vitamin E&F Ampoules not only helps gently peel away dead skin cells, it also helps regulate sebum production and consequently reduces the appearance of blemishes and blackheads, all while giving you a softer and smoother looking skin.
As well as alpha hydroxyl acid which helps to stimulate cell renewal, the ampoules also contain Vitamin E to help maintain moisture in the skin, as well as Vitamin A to help nourish the skin and regulate the fat metabolism.
The ampoules are best used at night before bedtime, and you simply break off the neck of one ampoule, and apply the whole contents onto your face, neck and décolleté and dab it in until fully absorbed.
As you use a full ampoule per application, there are only 10 treatments in the package. I am unsure if you are meant to use them on 10 consecutive days, but as my skin is used to glycolic acid, and I would not classify it as being sensitive, I have been doing the treatment 10 days in a row.
And after the 10 days – well actually, already the morning after the first application I could tell how soft and smooth my skin was. But after the 10 days I can see a significant difference. My skin is softer than it has been for a very long time, and it is so soft that I cannot help but keep touching it. The major breakouts that I was getting seems to have stopped (not sure if that is a coincidence), and the few smaller ones seems to clear up instantly.
And then the fine lines, and in particularly one frown line between my brows that’s bothering me a little, they all seem to have minimised in appearance. My pigmentation and dark spots from previous acne also seems to have significantly reduced in both size and darkness, and my skin simply looks more even and brighter, and it has a glow I haven’t seen for a long time.
When applying serum and moisturiser the following morning, it seems to absorb quicker, and my makeup seems to slide on so much easier, and due to this new-found glow, I feel the need to use less foundation than I usually do. It also seems to stay put for longer without starting to settle into lines or slide of my face, which is probably due to my skin not producing as much sebum.
And all of these results are without my skin being irritated at all. There is simply no stinging, flaking or dry skin. The liquid does have a slightly chemical scent, but it quickly fades as soon as it has absorbed into the skin. It comes in small glass ampoules, and thanks to an enclosed little plastic cap it is easy to break off the neck without getting any glass splinters. My only negative about these ampoules is probably the ampoules they come in – while the 2mls contained in each seems to be about the right amount, I think that I would use marginally less if it had been possible, and consequently gotten just a few more days use from the contents (and thus making it slightly cheaper per use too!), but on the other hand, I do understand that they are probably in the small ampoules to maintain their potency, which may otherwise be lose or minimised if the product had come in a small tube.
These ampoules from Mesoestetic may only be 10 % in strength compared to the John Plunkett’s Glyco Peel with 25%, but even so, I feel that the results are even more noticeable, almost as if the strength was actually double, and not the other way around. So I guess it goes to show that more expensive products do use higher quality ingredients that are so much more potent, and that this is close to the strength used by professionals in salons.
So overall I am really impressed with the Mesoestetic x.prof 052 Glycolic Acid with Vit. E and F as my skin is feeling softer and smoother and more even toned and radiant than it has for a long time. $118 is not cheap for ten small ampoules, but on the other hand, it is about the same cost as a professional treatment, and over the course of the 10 days, I do feel I’ve seen better results than after a medium strength peel at a salon – and the beauty is you can do it all from the comfort of your home, all while you get some beauty sleep! I will definitely consider repurchasing as it would be a great treatment to give you skin say every three months or so.
