PRODUCT REVIEW: PAULA'S CHOICE 1% RETINOL BOOSTER, PORE REFINING TREATMENT 2% BHA, YOUTH-EXTENDING DAILY HYDRATING FLUID AND PERFECT CLEANSING OIL
One of those brands you always hear a lot about is Paula’s Choice… The brand is founded by the Paula Begoun, who is also the author of the early 90s book, Don't Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me - a book I personally really loved at the time, as it was all about which beauty products were worth the hype and which ones weren’t...

PRODUCT REVIEW: ESMI SKIN MINERALS SKIN TREATS
You may recall some months ago when I put some gorgeous skin treats from esmi Skin Minerals to the test, including the Hyaluronic Hydrating Serum and the Golden Anti-Ageing Serum (If you missed it, you can read more about them here) - and now I’ve put some of their newest additions to the Skin Treats range to the test including;
- esmi Skin Minerals Anti-Redness Minty Green Smoothie
- esmi Skin Minerals Pomegranate Serum Infused with Q10 Spheres
- esmi Skin Minerals Detoxifying Exfoliating Charcoal Serum Infused with 24K Gold Flakes
But let’s talk about the actual serums, starting with the esmi Skin Minerals Anti-Redness Minty Green Smoothie, which is designed to fight redness and hydrate the skin. it is very gentle, and can be used past skin treatments, including laser and IPL. It contains among others;
- Caffeine to reduce puffiness
- Arnica to speed up healing
- Aloe Vera to calm the skin
I don’t really suffer with skin redness, so it is a little difficult to cast a verdict on this serum and how it performs. However, I can say that they bright green serum feels so lovely, cooling and calming on the skin. It is light and absorbs quick without greasiness, thanks to being water-based, which also means it doesn’t leave the pores clogged up. And really does leave the skin feeling soft, smooth and deeply hydrated. Because of the cooling sensation on the skin, I can also imagine that it would be lovely to sue on a hot day when the skin is warm and flushed from the sun, or of course during the winter when the skin is wind burnt. You also got to love the bright green serum, along with the fresh minty scent.
Next is the esmi Skin Minerals Pomegranate Serum Infused with Q10 Spheres, which is designed to help prevent excess pigmentation, and thereby it’s the perfect serum for my increasingly pigmented skin. It contains among others;
- Bearberry Extract to reduce melanin production
- Oligopeptide-68, to purify and brighten
- Liquorice, an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory
- Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) 3%, an antioxidant to brighten and lighten
- Q10 Spheres to energise the cells
This light serum is also water-based, so it is light and non-greasy on my blemish prone combination skin. The serum can be used morning and night, but I admit to mainly using in the morning (and my usual retinol at night!). It feels so lovely on the skin, and I love how it feels so fresh and energising on the skin, instantly leaving it feeling soft, smooth and fresh. And after just a few uses, I did notice that my skin stated looking overall brighter and more even, also also healthier looking with a lovely radiant glow. The actual serum has a peachy-pink shade that is so girly and pretty. With the pomegranate contents, I admit that had expected it to have a fresh fruity scent, but it doesn’t, unfortunately. Rather he has a subtle scent that I can’t quite describe, though lovely nonetheless.
Finally, there’s the esmi Detoxifying Exfoliating Charcoal Serum, which is a little different to the other two, as it is not a serum to be left on the skin, but rather a treatment exfoliator, so I guess in a way the name serum is a little misleading. The Detoxifying Exfoliating Charcoal Serum contains among others;
- Charcoal to detoxify, and act as anti-bacterial and anti-acne
- 10% Fruit Acid Combination with 5% Glycolic Acid and 5% Lactic Acid to detoxify, smooth and exfoliate
The Detoxifying Exfoliating Charcoal Serum is designed to gradually exfoliate the skin buffing away dead skin cells, smoothing and refining the skin, while also detoxifying the skin, drawing out impurities and underlying clogged pores, and reducing the appearance of blackheads.
The serum is intended to be used for 5 consecutive nights in a row, with a 2 day break. And it is used by applying a small amount to the semi charcoal brush, which is then massaged onto the freshly cleansed skin, avoiding the sensitive eye area. The serum is then left on the skin for about 5-10 minutes, and will start to tingle - on my skin it was every so slightly, but I am also used to strong glycolic acids. Afterwards you simply wet the charcoal brush and start buffing away the softened dead skin cells and any impurities it has drawn out, before washing it all off. You then dry your skin and follow with any of the esmi Skin Treat Serums.
You don’t need the brush, and can do it all with your fingers, but the brush does help give you an even better result, and personally I really like using it.
It did take ma little getting used to exactly how much product was needed, but I quickly discovered that it is quite concentrated so you only need a few drops. And I have to say that I am absolutely loving how soft and smooth it makes my skin. I have definitely also noticed that it has made a difference to some underlying pimples I’ve been fighting for some time, and it has helped clear up some hormonal breakouts on my chin I’ve been struggling with for some time too. And all while leaving my skin so super soft and smooth, clearer and fresher, and with such a radiant glow too.
Each of these skin treats are so beautiful on their own, that it is difficult to say which one is the best, and it really comes down to your skin type and concern, and even so, there are times where all will be handy to have in the beauty cabinet.
But needless to say, that with my blemish prone pigmented skin, I am absolutely loving the Detoxifying Exfoliating Charcoal Serum, and the immediate effects it has on my skin, does mean that it is my favourite of all the semi skin treats that I’ve tried. But that said, I am also loving the Pomegranate Serum as it is clearly making my skin brighter, more even and more radiant too.
If you haven’t yet tried any of the semi Skin Treats, you really need to check then out, you wont regret it.

PRODUCT REVIEW: TREATING BLEMISH PRONE SKIN BIORE WITH ACNE SCRUB, PORE MINIMISER AND PORE STRIPS
I have all days suffered with a skin prone to breakouts, even today where I am so old I should be more focused on anti-ageing, my skin still has periods of being more temperamental than a teenager's skin. So when a batch of the newest anti-blemish products from Bioré landed on my desk, I couldn't wait to try them...
Let's start with the Bioré Baking Soda Acne Scrub, which is a face scrub formulated for combination, acne prone skin. The scrub has been formulated with natural baking soda, and also contains salicylic acid to gently and effectively exfoliate the skin and remove all the dead skin cells that are clogging up the pores, including excess sebum. At the same time, it is helping treat existing acne and prevent future breakouts at the same time. The scrub has small scrubbing particles, and doesn't feel coarse on the skin, but actually rather gentle, but after each use, it leaves my skin feeling soft and sooth, and without it feeling dry or irritated, and I can definitely both see and feel it is leaving my skin clearer and more refined too. It has a slight cooling feeling on the skin, which I quite like and find rather refreshing in the mornings. As it is so gentle, it can be used twice daily if needed, otherwise 2 or three times per week.
Then there's the Bioré Charcoal Acne Scrub, which has jumped on the bandwagon of using charcoal as an ingredient, which seems to be very popular in beauty products at the moment. It is a face scrub formulated for oily, acne prone skin. Along with the natural charcoal powder it also contains salicylic acid, and it promises to help exfoliate away any acne-causing dirt , clear away dead skin cells and absorb excess oil, to help give the skin a deep cleanse and help eliminate breakouts, all while being gentle on the skin, and not strip it from essential moisture or over dry it. It can also be used twice daily, or alternatively 2 or 3 times weekly as needed. The scrubbing particles in this seems slightly smaller than in the Baking Soda Acne Scrub, but regardless, after each use, my skin feels super clean deep down every pore.
The Bioré Charcoal Pore Minimiser is a facial exfoliator that contains natural charcoal powder along with micro crystals, and it promises to help draw out deep-down impurities, dirt and oil from the pores, to make them appear smaller, while leaving the skin feeling softer and smoother. Compared to other face exfoliators, this one has very tiny particles, so it does feel very gentle on the skin, yet it still feels like it is buffing away those dead cells clogging up the pores, as the skin is left soft afterwards, and I can clearly see that the excess oil, especially on my t-zone has been absorbed. The cleanser comes out dark grey, which is rather odd, but once you massage it into the skin with water, it does turn light grey/white. It is quite concentrated, so though it is recommended to use a full pump, I find that a little too much. It is recommended to use it 2 to three times per week, and unless you've got very oily skin, I'd stick to that, to ensure it doesn't dry out your skin. I have not really noticed that it has made any difference to the size of my pores. But that said, I quite like it as a deep clean once or twice a week, if I'm due for a face mask, or at that time of the month where my skin always feels a little greasier and tends to break out more often, as I do feel my skin is less greasy afterwards.
Finally, there's the Bioré Combo Deep Cleansing Pore Strips, which are long time favourites for both my husband and I. This box contains two types of pore strips, one type for the nose and one for the forehead. And they have been designed to unclog dirt and oil that can lead to blackheads, while helping to minimise the appearance of pores. The Bioré Deep Cleansing Pore Strips for the face are designed to work like a magnet, and help lift out any dirt deep down the pores that can cause blackheads. The two types of strips in the box are slightly different, not only in shape, but also in the ingredients used. The Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips for the nose are shaped so they fit perfectly around the nose, and designed especially for the skin on the nose which tends to be greasier. And so they contain tea tree oil and witch hazel to remove twice the amount of dirt for fewer clogged pores and pores that will reduce in size.
The Bioré Deep Cleansing Pore Strips, on the other hand, are designed for the rest of the face, including the forehead, and help lift out the dirt in the pores that can cause blackheads and breakouts. I don't really have that many blackheads on my forehead, but have struggled with a few on my cheeks, which I've tried to use the strips.
The strips are so easy to use, you simply wet your face and apply, and leave it on for about 10 to 15 minutes before gently peeling it off. And you can immediately see their effectiveness, - a little bit gross, but also somewhat exciting that if you look at the used strip, you can actually see the dirt the strips have pulled out of your skin! Afterwards I like to wipe over my skin with a toner to close the pores. Using these on a regular basis definitely makes a difference to the amount of blackheads and breakouts on my nose, so we like to always keep a box handy, just in case.
So there you go, a selection of budget friendly products from Bioré for those who like me struggle with breakouts. Apart from the Pore Strips, favourite of the bunch would have to be the Charcoal Acne Scrub, as its super quick and easy to use a few times a week in the shower, and really makes a difference to the amount of breakouts on my skin.

PRODUCT REVIEW: BRAUN SILK-EPIL 9 SKINSPA 4-IN-1 FOR LEGS, BODY AND FACE
I've been using an epilator on my legs for as long as I can remember, and I mean decades. So I was naturally excited when the latest Braun Silk-epil 9 SkinSpa landed on my desk some months ago, I was naturally excited. You can read all about it here. As I wrote at the time, the Braun Silk-epil 9 SkinSpa is without a doubt the most advanced epilator that I have used to date. First of all because it works both wet and dry skin, which means that you can use it in the shower or bath for extra comfort - so imagine my excitement when yet another edition was launched - the newest Braun Silk-epil 9 SkinSpa Wet & Dry Epilation, Exfoliation & Massage System, which now comes with a massive 12 extras!!
This new Braun Silk-epil 9 SkinSpa is essentially like the previous one, and it has epilator has pulsating active vibrations to stimulate the skin for a more gentle epilation. It also has 40 micro-grip tweezers to catch even more hair, even very short hair as short as 0.5mm, while the head of the shaver rotates to adapt to the body's contours to make the shaving even easier and more comfortable too.
It also comes with two exfoliation brushes, a blue one for deep exfoliation to help avoid those dreaded ingrown hairs, and a purple exfoliation head for more sensitive areas, and for a more refined and silky soft and smooth skin. These brushes have been developed for the whole body, except for the face. The brushing actions have more than 3000 micro-vibrations per minute to help remove both dry skin and improve the appearance of the skin.
But it also includes standard shaver head, which is designed for a fast and close shave of legs, underarms and bikini line, as well as contour trimming and cutting hair down to 55 mm length using the trimmer cap too. The shaver has two speed settings for your personal preference (if you're new to using an epilator, the lower setting may be a little less 'painful", while I've been using one for so long, that it's full steam ahead for me.
I love that his shaver so quickly and easily grabs all the tiny hairs, so I don’t have to run the shaver over the skin repeatedly to remove them, and the included extras are super nifty too. I particularly love the exfoliation brushes, which really do make my skin feel incredibly soft and smooth, and I also believe that buffing away the dead skin cells makes it quicker to shave my legs as it is easier for the shaver to grab individual hairs, as well as I feel that regular use of the exfoliation heads helps eliminate ingrown hair too, which is an extra bonus.
I also love that the Braun Silk-epil 9 SkinSpa is quick to charge as it only takes about 1 hour for a full charge, and then it has up to 40 minutes of battery life, which is more than sufficient to shave both legs.
All these features are the same as the 'old' model, actually it is not old, it is just that this new one now comes with not just 6 attachment - but now a massive 12 different ones!!
One of the new attachments include a battery operated sonic Facial Cleansing System that has three different high-density brushes, for sensitive, normal or exfoliation. This brush is quick and easy to use, and I love that it is waterproof so you can also use it in the shower. I haven't got sensitive skin, but love that it comes with different brush head options, and the fact that it includes a sensitive option does mean that yo you can use it daily. I also really love the exfoliating brush head as it really gives my skin a deep intense clean when I need it.
Another new attachment I also love is the new Deep Massage Pad. This massage pad helps improve skin texture by massaging the skin deeper tan a standard body brush. This means improved blood circulation, which in turn means an improvement of the skin's appearance. I also always have very tense shoulders, and hence have really enjoyed using this bod massager on my shoulders and neck where the gentle vibrations have helped loosen up the tight feeling.
So overall, I really enjoy - correction, I love using this Braun Silk-epil 9 SkinSpa, and compared to other epilators I've used over the past decades, I particularly love that this one is a wet/dry one, as I find it even quicker and easier to use in the shower, not only can I easily wash away all the small hairs, but I also find that the warm shower helps open the pores in my skin, so it is not only quicker to shave, but also less painful - and I really love that it now comes with even more useful attachment for a full spa experience at home.
Braun Silk-epil 9 SkinSpa Wet & Dry Epilation, Exfoliation & Massage System, 9-969V - RRP: $299
Available from The Shaver Shop, Harvey Norman, Myer, David Jones and selected national retailers

PRODUCT REVIEW: BIODERMA SEBIUM
My skin has been really temperamental and hormonal lately, so when a selection of the products from the Bioderma Sebium range landed on my desk, I happily put them to the test..
The Bioderma Sebium range is a range of products targeted those with oily to combination skin, skin prone to acne. Breakouts and acne is not just something that occurs in puberty, adolescents do not have total control over acne either, and as in my case, blemishes continues to persist, even now where anti-ageing products would be more appropriate.
All the Bioderma Sebium products are patented with the Fluidactiv patent that helps reduce and purify sebum in order to reduce the clogging in the pores and eliminate blemishes on the long term.
For the past couple of weeks I have been using;
The Bioderma Sébium H20 Micelle Solution is a micelle water, which I a makeup removing water specifically targeted for oily and combination skin. It is perfect for those who prefer a product that does not need to be rinsed off, but yet can still remove all traces of makeup, impurities including dirt and sebum, all while being super gentle on the skin, and not dry it out thanks to being PH balanced. In addition, it helps to regulate sebum quality and keep the pores from becoming clogged by purifying the skin ad limiting sebaceous secretion and this helping to clear up the skin. To use, you simple soap a cotton pad and gently wipe it over the face, and continue until the cotton pad is clean. I love that this one comes in a reversed pump bottle, which makes it even easier to use too. And absolute winner if you ask me, as it leaves my skin feeling clean, soft and fresh.
The Sébium Cleansing Foaming Gel is a foaming soap-free cleansing gel, which again cleanses the skin super gently from all impurities, while leaving the skin feeling clean deep down every pore. And again, it helps limit the formation of blemishes thanks to helping to regulate the sebum produced by the skin. I like splashing water in my face as I wash it, so I really like using this one, and have been using it as a second cleanse after removing my makeup, sometimes with my Clairsonic for added benefit.
The Bioderma Sébium Exfoliating Purifying Gel, which is an scrub that refines the skin texture, tightens pores and brightens the complexion while preventing the formation of blemishes. It is to be used once or twice a week, and I like to use it in the shower for a few moments. It contains gentle micro beads as well as gycolic and salicylic acid to help speed up the cell renewal and eliminate impurities.
Next is the Bioderma Sébium Pore Refiner, which is corrective care for enlarged pores. It is to be used after cleansing, either alone or before your moisturiser. It can be used either all over the face, or just locally on the t-zone area depending on need, and it is designed to help correct the skin's appearance so the texture becomes finer, more regular and clearer, and pores become more tightened and less visible, thanks to containing agaric acid, a powerful astringent. At the same time, like the rest of the products in the range, it also helps regulate sebum to prevent pores becoming clogged up and the skin breaking out. I have been using on my t-zone during the day, and love how it immediately has a mattifying effect, which also means that it works perfectly under makeup too
Then there's the Bioderma Sébium Global Intensive Purifying Care, which is a cream that is intended for those with acne prone skin with severe blemishes, so again perfect for my skin's current state. The cream helps treat the cause and consequence of blemishes, and helps restore the sebum of healthy skin to prevent severe blemishes. It contains among others AHA to help clear skin from spots and blackheads as well as zinc gluconate and enoxolonto to soothe and reduce redness cause by inflammation. As well as clearing and purifying the skin, it also helps reduce the residual marks after breakouts. The cream is to be used morning and night, and it is quit light and absorbs quickly into the skin, and leaves it soft and hydrated. I also love that it works perfectly under makeup, and has the bonus of keeping my skin more matte so consequently my makeup stays looking nice for longer.
The Bioderma Sebium range is a range of products targeted those with oily to combination skin, skin prone to acne.
Overall I am really loving these products from Bioderma, as they so effective on my blemish prone skin, and yet are so gentle. I also love the fact that they are all free from parabens and AKN
When I started using these, my skin was going through a very bad patch, but I am convinced that using these helped get it back under control again. My skin is still not perfect, so I can see myself continuing to use these products, as well as there are several other products in the range I'm very keen on adding to the routine including the Global Cover, AI and the Serum.

PRODUCT REVIEW: MEDIK8 WHITE BALANCE CLICK INTENSE BRIGHTENING SERUM AND MICRO EXFOLIATOR
Years of worshipping the sun, sadly means that now one of my main skin concerns is pigmentation and sunspots. So when the Medik8 White Balance Cleanse and White Balance Click Intense Brightening Serum landed on my desk, I was naturally excited.
The Medik8 White Balance Click fight pigmentation, including, dark spots, age spots, freckles, blotchiness, sun damage, uneven skin tone and melasma, all while improving the appearance of overall skin tone. The key ingredient in the serum is kojic acid, which is an unstable ingredient, and hence it pas been packaged in the 'click' system to keep it in a powder form until it is ready to be used, by storing it in a special chamber inside the product lid. When you're ready to use the product, you simply click to release the powder and activate it by shaking the bottle, and then tit stays stable for the following 30days.
In addition, it also contains among others, niacinamide, sepiwhite, L-lactic acid, linoleic acid, L-Leucine, N-Acetyl Glucosamine, all of which helps to whiten and brighten the skin tone, inhibit the melanin formation, boost exfoliation and cell turnover, all while moisturising the skin.
The serum is to be used morning and evening, using 6+ drops on cleansed skin, applying your usual moisturiser on top. Yes, the two 10ml bottles seem tiny, but I was actually struggling using up one 10ml bottle within the 30days the ingredients remained active, which goes to show how concentrated the stuff is.
I found the serum to be very gentle, and non-irritating on my skin, and also working perfectly under makeup, without balling up. As I used the White Balance Click in combination with the cleanser, for an improved effect, I'll get to the results later…
Let's first get onto the Medik8 White Balance Cleanse Brightening Micro-Exfoliator. I'm sure you've heard of, or possibly even tried the much hyped about Dermalogica Microfolicant, well this exfoliating cleanser comes in the same form - a powder that you mix with a few drops of warm water to create a creamy texture which you can then massage onto your face.
The cleanser contains among others Oxy-R (Oxyresveratrol), to help brighten the skin and inhibit melanin production, as well as bamboo extract and volcanic perlite, which are micro-fine particles to help remove dead skin cells and stimulate cell renewal, along with Gluconolactone, a PHA that exfoliates and breaks down stubborn melanin deposits. Finally, it also contains N-Acetylglucosamine to help with wound healing and treat UV damaged, hyperpigmented skin.
This cleanser is so gentle that you can use it daily, even if you've got sensitive skin, and I really love this dual action cleanser that both cleanses my skin and gives it a gentle exfoliation at the same time. According to Medik8, you can use it to remove makeup too, but personally, I prefer to use it in the morning, or alternatively after removing my makeup.
And after each use, I can clearly both see and feel that it leaves my skin so much softer and smoother, and clearly cleansed deep down every single pore, getting rid of all impurities. And consequently I also feel that my skin is less greasy, and with my skin more refined, my makeup also goes on not only easier, but also stays put for longer.
Overall, I have really enjoyed using these products as I feel that my skin tone has significantly improved. My skin looks visibly brighter and more radiant and luminous, and while larger areas of darker pigmentation is still noticeable, these areas are definitely reduced in appearance. Red marks from past blemishes and acne have also reduced, and as a bonus, I also feel that the these products have helped reduced the amount of breakouts that I get thanks to the gentle exfoliation of my skin. So I can definitely see myself giving my skin treatment with the serum from time to time, while the cleanser has quickly become a favourite part of my morning routine, and I'd now hate to be without it.
Medik8 White Balance Click Intense Brightening Serum - RPR: $98 / 2 x 10ml
Medik8 White Balance Cleanser Brightening Micro-Exfoliator - RRP: $69 / 75g
Available from Active Skin, Adore Beauty, Facial Co, RY, Medik8 Online and select other stockists.

PRODUCT REVIEW: ZK'IN ORGANICS LINE SMOOTHING SERUM, CLARIFYING EXFOLIATOR, BRIGHTENING AND HYDRATING MASQUE
Today I'd like to introduce you to Zk'in Certified Organic Skincare. Zkin, which is pronounced 'skin', and the Z in the name represents the brands zero tolerance for anything less than the best. The products are not only certified organic, vegan and cruelty free, they are also free from parabens, sulphates, and petrochemicals, but rather contain powerful bioactive ingredients that have proven efficient.
I've put a few products to the test including the Zk'in Clarifying Exfoliating, which is made from among others orange fruit extract, citrus peel oil, coffee seed powder and aloe leaf juice and it helps gently buff away dead skin cells and excess oil and sebum for a cleaner and brighter skin. The coffee helps to remove dead skin cells and impurities, while the caffeine n the coffee alleviates puffiness, while the aloe vera helps soothe and calm the skin.
I love how this exfoliator is 95% certified organic, and that it is so gentle on the skin. And when used a few times a week in the shower (the coffee can make it a little messy), is definitely helping my skin look so much softer and smoother, but also less greasy. I also love the gorgeous orange zesty coffee scent that spreads in my bathroom after each use. Another thing that I love is that the exfoliator is not containing microplastics, which is clogging up the waterways and endangering aquatic life - microplastics is on the list of ingredients to be banned in several countries around the world in the near future.
Then there's the Zk’in Brightening & Hydrating Masque, which would be any chocolate lovers dream, as thanks to containing cocoa, it has the most delish chocolate scent. The cocoa is high in antioxidants, which helps to brighten the skin. It also contains aloe vera to increase skin hydration, while brown seaweed extract to help preserve the skins breakdown of collagen, and help smooth wrinkles and improve elasticity,
The mask is to be used once or twice a week, and left on for 10 minutes before removed. I am not sure that I've seen any significant brightening effect, but I love how gentle it is on my skin, and soft and smooth it makes it feel. After each use my skin simply looks like it has been given a lift as it is plumper and clearly deeply nourished, and hence also glowing and healthy.
Finally, the Zk'in Line Smoothing Serum is a very light gel based serum that is to be used on the delicate eye area, and/or facial expression lines such as forehead wrinkles, after cleansing the skin and prior to moisturiser. I admit that I initially thought that this was a serum for the whole face, and it wasn't until I read the description on the box that I realised that it was in fact an eye serum - so it really would be ideal if that was more clearly displayed on the box!
The serum contains an active ingredient called Gee from atuline® Expression, an extract of the Paracress plant of Madagascar, which has been clinically shown* to smooth the appearance of expression lines and wrinkles, a natural and safe alternative to injectables!
Anyway, as this is an eye serum, it is really an additional step in your skincare regime - I don't mind personally, as I am already using a serum on my face before moisturiser, but 'just' an eye cream, and as eye creams is one of the products I'm always willing to spend more on, I do like doing something extra for this area, as a younger looking eye area, makes such a difference to your whole look.
The light serum absorbs super quick, and without any greasiness, so you can move on and apply your eye cream on top, or you can of course leave it on its own - but again, with ageing skin, my eye area needs all the help it can get! It leaves the skin feeling silky soft and smooth. I haven't got a lot of deeper wrinkles, but the finer ones are starting to creep in, but I do have one larger expression line between my brows which is rather annoying.
I didn't expect to see massive results, but after using the serum for about a month, I am quite pleased to say that the fine lines around my eyes do appear to have softened a little, and the expression line slightly minimised in size and depth too. It is still early days, but for a serum to do that in a few weeks, is really impressive, so I will definitely continue to use it, and if results continue to show, also consider repurchasing.
So overall really enjoying these Zk'in products, they are gentle and don't contain any nasty ingredients, they are lovely to use, smell incredible, and I love seeing the positive effects they are having on my skin.
Zk'in Line Smoothing Serum - RRP: $59.95 / 25ml
Zk'in Clarifying Exfoliator - RRP: $39.95 / 100ml
Zk'in Brightening & Hydrating Masque - RRP: $39.95 / 65ml

PRODUCT REVIEW: ALPHA-H GENTLE DAILY EXFOLIANT
Alpha-H is one of those brands that I've heard so many rave reviews about, but haven't really gotten around to trying out that many products myself, so I was naturally excited when the Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant landed on my desk.
Alpha-H reveals that uneven skin tone and pigmentation can add or subtract as much as 12 years to a woman's age, but that the right SPF product and exfoliation can help press pause on this ageing process.
The Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant is a powdered exfoliant that is so gentle on the skin that it can be used daily, even on sensitive skin types, as it offers a zero-abrasion micro-exfoliating treatment.
To use you simply dispense a little bit of the fine powder into the palm of your hand, and then mix it with a bit of water to create a paste. This part is a little tricky until you get the hang of it, as you can easily dispense too much, as well as it is easy to add to much water making it too runny. But it is worth it! The powder contains a combination of fruit enzymes from green papaya and pineapple which are activated by the water, and they help gently buff away dead and dull skin cells, leaving your skin soft and smooth - and by exfoliating daily, it also helps speed up the renewal process of new healthy skin cells, and in turn helps the skin look healthier and younger.
Alpha-H promises that it helps brighten the skin, minimise pores and make skin less greasy - and while I am not sure my skin is brighter, after using this exfoliant daily for a few weeks, my skin is definitely more refined and appears to be less greasy, and as a result, I feel I'm getting less breakouts - and being less greasy also means that my makeup seems to stay put looking nice for longer. So in general my skin really is looking a lot healthier, and I love that it is so gentle that I can use it every morning, definitely highly recommended.
So overall I really love these products and would now hate to be without both, so certainly keen on exploring more products from their large range.
Any Alpha-H products that you can recommend that are must-haves?

PRODUCT REVIEW: DR ROEBUCK'S POLISH, EYE REGENERATION CREAM AND BODY AND HAND WASH
I love it when I across new brands, so today I'm excited to share with you some products from Dr. Roebuck's. The brand was started way back in 1978 when Dr. Roebuck created his original formula PURE to treat the eczema of his newborn twin daughters. These creams were pure, as he understood the importance of excluding unnecessary fillers, colours, scents and chemicals, but only use the absolute necessary ingredients.
Today the twin daughters, Zoe and Kim have taken over, and developed Dr Roebuck's, which is now available around the globe, but still with the same great philosophy, to keep the products free from petrochemicals, sulphates, no TEA/ DEA, Glycols, Silicas, PEGS, and synthetic fragrances and colours. And I love that it is still Australian owned and products made in Sydney.
I have tried one of their bestsellers, the Dr. Roebuck's Polish, the Body & Hand Wash, as well as the newly launched Eye Regeneration Cream.
Let's start with the Dr. Roebuck's Polish, which is a unique two-in-one formula that combines a face mask with an exfoliant. It is a deep cleansing and purifying, non-abrasive facial scrub and mask gently removes dead skin cells leaving the skin revitalised and beautifully radiant.
It contains among others natural jojoba beads, peppermint and grapefruit to exfoliate and deep cleanse, as well as kaolin clay to draw out impurities, excess sebum and toxins from the skin. It also contains vitamin E to regenerate and create a healthier skin, as well as White Tea extracts and Macadamia Oil to neutralise any nasty free radicals.
To use, you simply apply a generous layer to the face and leave for a few minutes to allow the kaolin to draw out impurities, before you start to massage it into the skin, before rinsing it off with lukewarm water. It doesn't harden up like many clay masks, but it does dry a little, but without leaving the skin with that tight feeling. The Polish has a lovely cooling feeling on the skin thanks to containing peppermint, which also makes it smell divine. And afterwards my skin is so soft and smooth, and without any dryness or irritation, but rather with a lovely radiant glow. The actual scrub has a nice light texture, and just the right amount of grains, gentle, yet still very effective.
Then there's the just launched Dr. Roebuck's Eye Regeneration Cream, which has been designed to prevent premature ageing and rejuvenating vitalise damaged skin around the eye area. The cream contains;
In the jar it looks like the cream has some tiny grains throughout it, but interestingly, it hasn't got a grainy fee at all. It has a slightly odd scent, but knowing that it doesn't contain unnecessary added fragrance, I really don't mind at all.
Both the Polish and the Eye Cream comes in gorgeous orangy-red see-through plastic jars with silver writing, which are unique and just stunning.
Finally, the Dr. Roebuck's Hand & Body Wash, which has been made specifically for sensitive skin, free from petrochemicals, sulfates and parabens. It has been infused with neroli petitgrain from France as well as thyme and basil to soothe and calm irritated sensitive skin, as well as they have a soothing effect on the nervous system and assist in relieving anxiety and tension.
This soap is extremely gentle, and leaves the skin clean without drying it out, and has a beautiful natural herbal scent that you can only love.
It comes in an old-school brown plastic bottle with a convenient pump, which I personally really like, so I have to admit that I have predominantly used it as a hand wash in our powder room, as I simply find the bottle too nice to stash away in our ensuite shower for nobody to see.
I've really enjoyed using both products, the Polish has quickly become a favourite, that I can see myself purchasing again and again, and the Eye Cream is really perfect as a more intensive night eye cream. And finally, I really like the Body & Hand Wash for its gentle properties and clean natural herbal scent, so I can see that one becoming a regular hand wash in our house too.
If you are serious about skincare without all the chemical nasties, then I can highly recommend that you check out the Dr. Roebuck's range.
Dr. Roebuck's Polish - RRP: $39.95 / 50ml
Dr. Roebuck's Eye Regeneration Cream - RRP: $39.95 / 15ml
Dr. Roebuck's Body & Handwash - RRP: $18.95 / 250ml
Available from Dr. Roebuck's, SkincareStore, as well as select outlets worldwide!

Then there's the just launched Dr. Roebuck's Eye Regeneration Cream, which has been designed to prevent premature ageing and rejuvenating vitalise damaged skin around the eye area. The cream contains;
- Coconut Oil to deeply moisturise and hydrate to prevent premature ageing and the formation of fine lines and wrinkles
- Caffeine to reduce dark circles and bags around the eyes
- Rosehip Seed Oil to regenerate skin to diminish wrinkles while soothing and softening the skin
- Arnica Montana Flower to aid reducing dark rings around the eye area
- Vitamin E Oil an antioxidant that works deep in the dermis to repair damaged skin
- Lecithin to naturally moisturise while allowing active ingredient to penetrate the dermis
- Sodium PCA, an effective natural amino acid that retains moisture in the skin to enhance skin elasticity

BRAND FOCUS: THALGO SKINCARE
As a beauty blogger I am fortunately to get to try many more products and brands than most others, and with new products, and brands, hitting the shelves constantly, often favourites quickly get replaced. But two of those products that I have loved for some time, is the Silicium Anti-Ageing Foundation as well as the BB Cream from Thalgo (you can read all about them here), as it gives my skin just the right amount of coverage, while caring for my ageing skin at the same time. So today I'm excited to share with you some other incredible products from Thalgo...
Let me start with the Thalgo Cocooning Cleansing Milk. Normally I have combination skin, but in the midst of winter I do find that my skin becomes drier, and at times also slightly irritated, while in the midst of summer it can sometimes be almost oily. I admit to generally preferring a gel cleanser where I can splash water in my face afterwards, and not like this one where you remove any excess with a cotton pad.
However, apart from my waterproof makeup, it does remove my makeup quickly, easily and very gently too, and afterwards my skin is feeling very soft, almost as if I've already applied a moisturiser. It also seems to have a calming effect on the skin, - I don't particularly have sensitive skin, but my skin does get irritated by very cold winds, so if its feeling a little red and 'raw' after coming home from a walk around the lake with the pram and the dogs, this cleanser seems to quickly be able to soothe and calm my skin again.
The Thalgo Exfoliating Lotion is an exfoliating lotion containing clear expert complex to brighten the complexion and leave it more radiant, It also has a high content of salicylic acid to exfoliate and bioecolla, which has anti-bacterial properties.
The Exfoliating lotion, which as next to no scent, has the consistency of a toner, and is applied to the skin with a cotton pad after cleansing the skin morning and night (although I have to admit that I like to pad mine in with the hands only!) and before any serum and moisturiser.
I really like that you leave this on the skin to do its magic, and after just a few days I can tell that my skin is not only looking better and brighter, it is also seems to be softer and a few stubborn pimples seem to have suddenly cleared up a lot faster.
Then there's the Thalgo Freshness Exfoliator is another product that I've been loving lately, and intended for normal to combination skin, it is perfect for my skin. It contains among others grapefruit extract, red algae, and menthol as well as polyethylene micro beads, which help deep cleanse the skin deep down every single pore, as well as gently buff away dead skin cells, dirt and grime. It has a very light consistency and the scrubbing beads are super fine, in fact so fine that I thought it surely wouldn't be very effective, but I was very wrong as it leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth, and without any irritation because it is so gentle. I also love that it contains menthol as it gives it a nice fresh scent, as well as it leaves a nice cooling sensation on the skin after use.
Finally, there's the Thalgo Ultra Hydra Marine Mask. With my combination skin I have for a long time thought that using moisture masks wouldn't benefit my skin, but on the contrary make it even greasier. But using one, especially during winter can be a true life-safer.
The mask contains among others; two Hyaluronic Acids that stimulate the synthesis of aquaporins to activate the flow of water from the dermis to the epidermis, as well as the synthesis of epidermal hyaluronic acid that holds water in the skin, to intensely moisturise the skin and give it a plumping effect. It also contains Sève Bleue des Océans, a marine spring water drawn from the heart of the oceans, rich in trace elements and mineral salts, to hydrate and give the skin a healthy glow.
To use, you simply apply a generous layer over the face and neck and leave it on for 5 minutes before tissuing off any excess, and you're left with skin that is incredibly soft and smooth. And my skin really does seems plumper and fine lines therefore also appear to have slightly minimised in size. And what I also notice is by the incredible radiant glow that it gives my skin for hours after use. It is recommended using the mask twice a week, and it is also perfect to use before a special occasion to give your skin a beautiful glow.
Overall Thalgo really has impressed me again with their beautiful products. I particularly love the Exfoliating Lotion, which has really made a difference to the clarity of my skin and is so easy to incorporate into my existing skincare routine. But I do also love the Freshness Exfoliator as it is so gentle, yet effective, and the Ultra Hydra Marine Mask is just one of those that are great to have at hand when you feel your skin needs a boost of energy and radiance.
Thalgo Cocooning Cleansing Milk - RRP: $60.50 / 250ml
Thalgo Freshness Exfoliator - RRP: $62.50 / 50m
Thalgo Exfoliating Lotion - RRP: $46 / 125ml

PRODUCT REVIEW: EMINENCE ORGANICS MUST HAVE MINIS STARTER SET
I have previously declared my love for the Hungarian organic skincare brand, Eminence, so today I'd like to share with you the Must Have Minis Starter Set.
This Must Have Starter Set includes travel sizes some of Eminence's best selling products, including cleanser, exfoliant, moisturizer, facial concentrate and eye serum along with a convenient zippered pouch that’s perfect for traveling. The products include;
Let's start with the Stone Crop Gel wash, which is a cleanser intended for those with sensitive skin. The cleanser is oil-free extracts help even skin tone and minimize the appearance of blemishes to leave a healthy complexion, and without drying the skin out or stripping it of essential oils. But it leaves the skin feeling smooth and soft. Because it is so gentle, I do find that it is struggling a little removing my long-wearing makeup at night, and I find that more intense cleanser is required, but I do enjoy using it as my second cleanser to clean deep down every pore.
Next is the Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant, which contains Rice powder absorbs oil while lactic and salicylic acids remove dead skin cells. The strawberries and rhubarb infuse the skin with antioxidants. With strawberry and rhubarb I had kind of expected this to have a red or pink tinge, but rather it is actually green! The dermafoliant is very gentle and mild, and because they are chemical and only physical in the form of the superfine rice powder, the exfoliating properties activates when combined with water. The Dermafoliant is similar in style to a Dermalogica's Microfoliant, in that it is a powder formula that you need to "mix it up' yourself, and while I am huge fan of Dermalogica's version, I do find this is slightly superior in performance. And I do like that I can use it daily, preferring to use it in the morning, to give help keep my skin clear and make it look more radiant.
Then there's the Bamboo Firming Fluid, which contains strengthening agents of bamboo and coconut deeply hydrates, with the help of a Natural Retinol Alternative and Swiss Green Apple Stem Cells. This Fluid is to be use twice daily, after cleansing and before applying moisturiser. It promises to make the skin look tighter, and more lifted, while also increasing the collagen production in the skin by 25% in just 6 days. This is naturally difficult to measure, but I did quickly notice how the light serum , quickly made my skin feel and look healthy and glowing, while immediately also making it feel soft and dewy. Also worth mentioning is that it smells absolutely incredible.
The Stone Crop Whip Moisturiser is a regenerating and lightening moisturiser for normal to mature, dehydrated skin, helping calm and hydrate the skin while treating hyperpigmentation. I do have combination skin, but still found this moisturiser suitable for my skin, - probably because it is winter and my skin a tad drier than it is during the warmer summer months - so that said, I am not sure it if would then also mean that it will be too heavy come the warmer months and my skin again getting a little greasier, time will tell. Considering the moisturiser is for mature skin types, it is surprisingly light and absorbs fairly quickly into the skin, and I can feel that it is thoroughly hydrating my skin. I am yet to see any difference in pigmentation, but I have also only sampled a smaller tube, so I will no doubt need to use for a while longer to see clear results.
The final skincare product in the pack is the Neroli Age Corrective Eye Serum, which contains Neroli oil, coconut water and green apple stem cell technology fight the visible signs of aging, including the appearance of crow’s feet and fine lines. This Eye Serum is to be used twice a day, and as the name suggests, it is a serum, and hence is also very light, which I really like as it also means that it absorbs super quickly into the skin, without any greasiness, which also makes it particularly great for use under makeup. Yet, it is still quite moisturising, although, especially for use at night, I do feel I see a benefit from using a richer eye cream on top for extra nourishment.
The products come packaged in a zippered pouch in beige faux suede, that is so gorgeous and perfect for a night out, or it can of course also be used as a small makeup bag to hold a few essentials.
Overall, I am yet again very impressed with the products from this Eminence Must-Have Starter Kit. The products are small, yet large enough to use for several weeks to get a full feel for how your skin responds to them, and again, it is the perfect way to experience several products from a range, without having to purchase full sized products. I thoroughly enjoyed all the products, but for me the absolute standout product was without a doubt the Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant and the Bamboo Firming Fluid, both of which I can see myself purchasing again again, but I also I also really liked the Neroli Age Corrective Eye Serum, especially for use during the day.

PRODUCT REVIEW: ASAP SKINCARE FROM SOHO SKINCARE
I recently tried some products from the brand asap for the first time, and I really loved them, so when Soho Skincare offered some different products for me to try, I happily accepted.
The asap Daily Facial Cleanser, is a very gentle cleanser that lathers up into a soft foam that gently cleanses your skin, removing all makeup (although I didn't try it on my eye makeup, always using a specific eye makeup remover on my sensitive eyes). The formula is oil free so it is perfect for combination and oily skin like mine, and in fact, because it also contains AHA, it not only removes makeup and impurities, it also gently loosens and removes dead skin cells, - hence giving the skin a gentle chemical exfoliation to reveal clear, brighter and smoother skin.
also gently foams to cleanse your skin and remove make-up (including eye make-up). It washes away impurities in one action, without drying or irritating your skin.
I personally like to se it as my second cleanse, after having removed my makeup with a specific makeup remover, as it thereby gives my skin a deep cleanser. And it immediately leaves your skin feeling soft and noticeably smoother, and also less greasy, so in my case, I felt that it also helped clear my skin and stop it from breaking out.
The asap Daily Exfoliating Scrub with AHA is a dual action facial exfoliator that contains both tiny beads to manually scrub the skin, as well as AHA to chemically exfoliate the skin and gently remove dead skin. The exfoliating scrub is very gentle, so it can still be used daily, and personally I prefer to use at night before bed so I know my skin is completely clean and free from makeup, build up of excess sebum etc - and after use, my skin is left incredibly soft and smooth, and over time my skin also seems more refined, as well as my skincare products seem to absorb better and quicker into my skin. But I have also noticed, as because my skin also appears to be less greasy, it also means that my makeup stays put looking nicer for longer.
Finally, the asap Moisturising Daily Defence is a moisturiser suitable for all skin types, which is designed to replenish essential moisture in the skin. It contains among others Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide to help increase moisture levels in the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as encouraging the development of collagen to improve the skin's elasticity and even out the skin tone.
I am yet to see the moisturiser have any effect on either lines, wrinkles or skin tone, but I do enjoy using this lightweight moisturiser as it absorbs quickly and easily into my skin, and without any greasiness. It is, however, clearly giving my skin intense moisture, which shows in my skin feeling and looking soft and smooth, and with a healthy glow. And as it is so light, it doesn't seem to make my skin feel congested or make it break out, which is always a bonus - especially seeing it also contains SPF, which I often suspect is the main culprit in making my skin flare up! And speaking of SPF, I do love that it comes with a massive broad spectrum SPF50 to protect my skin from harmful UVA and UVB, to prevent further premature ageing of my skin.
Overall I am really enjoying using these products from asap, and can certainly see myself purchasing these again, in particularly the Facial Cleanser and the Exfoliating Scrub have won me over!
Asap Daily Facial Cleanser with AHA - RRP: $35.53/ 200ml
Asap Moisturising Daily Defence - RRP: $77 / 2 x 100ml
Asap Daily Exfoliating Facial Scrub with AHA - RRP: $35.53 / 200ml

XMAS GIFT IDEA FROM RY: DERMALOGICA ACTIVE MOIST SKINCARE KIT
Next in line of Xmas gift ideas is this amazing limited gift set from Dermalogica, which is available from RY. It contains a full sized, 100ml tube, of the Active Moist moisturiser, a product that I’ve loved for a very long time. In a way it is a bit of a basic moisturiser, but I use it over a targeted serum, and the moisturiser is so light weight and also oil-free so it is perfect for my combo skin, especially during the summer months when my skin tends to become even greasier. It also helps balance the skin without leaving it feeling or looking greasy while still giving it all the moisture it needs.
The kit also contains a deluxe sample size, 30ml of the Dermal Clay Cleanser, which is a deep cleansing cleanser that contains Bentonite and Kaolin clay to purify oily skin and remove excess oil and sebum while also refining the skin texture. It is perfect for using with the third and final product in the kit, the limited edition Facial Cleansing Mitt which is a soft plastic mitt that works in unison with the cleanser to gently slough off dead skin cells for a more superior and deep cleanser of the skin.
The Dermalogica Active Moist Kit is available from Ry for the fantastic price of $55.77, which considering a 50ml tube of the Active Moist sells for $43.68, is exceptional value when you get a 100ml moisturiser, which will last you forever and ever, as well as the two bonus products thrown in as well. And let me tell you, if you like me struggle with skin that is forever shining during the summer months and always prone to breakouts, then this kit is perfect for you.
