If you regularly tune stop by my little blog or my instagram page, you’re probably well aware how addicted I am to using Retinol as I simply find it is the one ingredient that works wonders for both my ageing skin as well as my breakouts. But I have never actually tried a retinol eye cream, until Medik8’s latest launch, r-Retinoate Day & Night Eye Serum* landed on my desk.
In 2016, Medik8 introduced a new encapsulated vitamin A molecule to the market – retinyl retinoate, a hybrid of traditional retinol and clinical strength retinoic acid that’s 8 times more powerful than retinol, and now the r-Retinoate Day & Night Eye Serum is added to the range.
The r-Retinoate Day & Night Eye Serum contains the following key ingredients;
- Retinyl Retionate to stimulate collagen synthesis and supports the regeneration of skin cells
- Hesperidin - to improve blood circulation and strengthen capillary walls for brighter under eyes
- Caffeine - to revitalise and help reduce the size of blood vessels to diffuse the appearance of tired eyes
- Glycerin - a natural humectant to traps water within the skin to leave it more hydrated
- Multi-Weight Hualuronic Acid - to draw moisture from the air into the skin for intense hydration
- Vitamin E - to help protect the skin from free radicals and regenerate vitamin C for optimum power
It thereby promises to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, even out and smooth the skin, reduce puffiness and dark circles, leaving the skin softer, more hydrated, and simply more glowing and radiant.
The eye serum is can be used both morning and night after cleansing, but avoiding the eye lids (and always remember to use your SPF during the day as the retinol can make the skin more sensitive to the sun).
The serum has a light lotion-like consistency, which I really like, and it absorbs quickly into the skin, without any greasiness, immediately leaving if feel softer and smoother.
It comes in a sleek white pump which I really like, as it makes it very easy to dispense, and also makes it very easy to dispense just enough of the concentrated serum without any wastage.
After using it for a few weeks I started to see it slowly transforming my eye area, leaving it generally looking more moisturised and plump, and with fine lines appearing less noticeable too. I also found that the dark circles have reduced, and hence my eye area doesn’t look quite as tired, but rather my skin is overall looking brighter and more refreshed.
I love that it is free from from artificial fragrances and colours, as well as it is free from parabens, phthalates and alcohol that can irritate the skin, as well as it is vegan friendly and cruelty free.
I also love that that is is so gentle, and suitable for even those with sensitive skin, l and that while usually it is only recommended to use retinols at night, I really love l’ve that this one can be used twice a day for faster results.
This eye serum is by far the best eye cream I’ve used so far, as it really does live up to its promises with results showing very quickly. No, it doesn’t come cheap, but if you ask me, it is worth every cent helping so successfully keep the signs of ageing away.
