PRODUCT REVIEW: OBAGI MEDICAL HYDRATE FACIAL MOISTURIZER AND ELASTIDERM EYE CREAM

Today I am going to talk about a brand that is completely new to me, and which I frankly had never heard of before until some products landed on my desk. So today I'm very excited to be talking about the Obagi Medical Hydrate Facial Moisturizer and ELASTIderm Eye Cream.

But first, if you are not familiar with Obagi Medical, let me quickly give you the run down. The American brand has been around since 1988, and is part of a global specialty pharmaceutical company founded by leading skin care experts. The Obagi Medical products are designed to minimise the appearance of premature skin ageing, skin damage, hyperpigmentation, acne marks, and sun damage.

Now onto the actual products. The Obagi Medical Hydrate Facial Moisturizer is a light lotion that has been designed for all skin types, and as it is so light, it is also perfect for my combination skin prone to breakout, also because It is non-comedogenic so it doesn’t clog up my pores. It absorbs quickly and easily into my skin, and leaves it soft and velvety smooth, without any greasiness, so it also works great as a base under makeup.

The moisturiser promises to combat dryness, and provide long-lasting hydration. It contains among others Hydromanil, a technologically advanced ingredient which retains water and gradually delivers moisture to the skin, along with shea butter, mango butter, avocado and glycerin. So not only does this cream provide immediate moisturization, it also continues to hold water in the layers of your skin over time. In fact, as demonstrated in a moisturization study, Hydrate Facial Moisturizer provides 8-hour moisture protection! I am yet o see any improvement in regards to my signs of ageing, but I do love that it adds such intense moisture to my skin without making it breakout, so it is a perfect moisturiser for me, both morning and night, especially during winter when my skin tends to become a little drier. It does have a slightly odd scent, but thankfully it faces quickly, and the pump bottle makes it quick and easy to dispense just the amount needed.

Then there's the Obagi Medical ELSATIderm Eye Cream is a thick light cream that promises to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around they eyes, for a tighter, smoother and more resilient looking skin thanks to a bi-mineral complex and malonic acid. The cream also contains Blueberry extract to add antioxidants to help eliminate free radicals, and Penetrating Therapeutics™, an Obagi technology that drives ingredients deep into the skin to help achieve optimal results. The cream comes in a rather large jar, which is a little deceiving as the contents is about the same as most other eye creams, 15ml. Personally, I do creams in either tubes or pump bottle to avoid sticking my fingers into the cream over and over, but I do have a spatula myself so I can avoid it. Anyway, apart from that, this eye cream is really lovely. I love that it has next to no scent so it doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes, and it absorbs quickly so I can apply my makeup immediately. Again, I am yet to notice any major improvements in my skin, or the amount of wrinkles or lines that I have, but I also never expect those so quickly. But I have noticed that the skin around my eyes in general looks more well hydrated, and consequently I guess it does appear as if my lines have 'filled out' and my skin looks more plumb and youthful.

Overall, I have really enjoyed putting these products to the test, and I will actually enjoy using these up, and most definitely look to try more products from the large range.
