Some time ago I was lucky to go to an event introducing a range of new products, one of them was Organic Nation Bioactive, and while I immediately started using them and loved them, I for some reason only just got around to writing my through about them..

PRODUCT REVIEW: ELLA BACHE ETERNAL + REPLENISHING DAY CREAM AND REGENERATING NIGHT CREAM

Always on the hunt for the latest and greatest within anti-ageing products, I was naturally very excited when the newest launches from Ella Baché landed on my desk. So today its going to all about the new Ella Baché Eternal+ Replenishing Day Cream and Eternal+ Regenerating Night Cream. 

These creams are intended for those with older skin types and those wanting to combat the signs of ageing, and sadly I do fall into that group…

The key ingredient of the Ella Baché Eternal+ Replenishing Day Cream contains is encapsulated diamond powders to gently exfoliate the skin for visibly firmer, lifted, rejuvenated even complexion that is simply more radiant. This cream is rich, and contains 4 premium olive and myrtle extracts from the Mediterranean basin which contains one of the most powerful anti-free radical molecules targeting visible signs of ageing. It helps add moisture to the skin, to encourage longevity, reduction in dark sports while rejuvenating the skins appearance, making it feel smoother, regenerated, lifted and plumped.

The cream also contains a combination of anti-ageing ingredients:

• Malinic Olive Acid to speed up the natural repair process and to stimulate. 
• Dill Phyto Extracts to increase skin elasticity and firmness. 
• Oligogalaturonides to promote epidermal growth and boosts collagen production. 
• Myrtle Polyphenic Fractions, an anti-oxidant and for anti-inflammatory properties. 
• Olive hydroxytyrosol to improve the skins ability to retain moisture and minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

• Glycerol, a humectant which draws moisture from the air forming a protective layer to prevent water loss. 
• Fatty Acids to help produce the skins natural oil barrier and keep the skin plumper, hydrated and youthful looking. 

The Ella Baché’s Eternal+ Regenerating Night Cream works to reveal a visibly younger looking skin each morning. The cream is very rich and soothing is loaded the same extracts from the Mediterranean basic, along with essential nutrients from Royal Jelly and Hyaluronic Acid Spheres for a visibly firmer more youthful appearance, and it promises that already after three days skin feels more comfortable, supported and toned, and after two weeks that skin feels restored and lifted for longer.

The Night Cream also contains a mixture of powerful re-densifying, re-generating, and anti-wrinkle ingredients:

• Royal Jelly to regenerate dermal tissue, stimulate cell metabolism and moisturise. Royal Jelly also acts as an anti-septic and anti-inflammatory. 
• Hyaluronic Acid Spheres, responsible for water absorption, elasticity and distribution of nutrients within the skin. Its water absorption abilities allow the epidermis to achieve excellent water binding capabilities. 
• Micro Collagen to firm, lift, reduce appearances of deep wrinkles and increase hyaluronic acid production. 
• Oats Glucose Polysaccharides (beta glucan), an anti-inflammatory that activates immune cells, stimulates collagen deposition and is a natural skin healer.

I've been using the day cream and night cream, for a few weeks, so what do I think…. Having combination skin that is often prone to breakouts, I am always concerned when trying out new anti-ageing products, mainly as they are often rich and heavy, and at times make my skin congested very quickly. But thankfully that has not been the case. Being winter, my skin does tend to become a little drier, and need a little extra care, so the richness of these creams has been very well received by my skin. Both creams absorb into the skin fairly quickly, although the slightly richer night cream does take a little longer, but once they have, both leave the skin feeling velvety soft and smooth, and with a lovely radiant sheen to the skin, so even the day, the skin looks great without makeup. That said, it of course still works perfectly under makeup too.

Since starting to use these creams, I can clearly see that my skin is both see and feel softer, smoother and more hydrated and plumbed too, as well as I also feel that it is starting to look more even, with some minor pigmentation as well as recent marks from blemishes appears to be minimised, so overall I feel that my skin is looking more youthful and glowing. Some would no doubt have found it better if the day cream had also contained some SPF, but that said, personally I actually prefer that it doesn’t, and add it on top, when I need it.

The products come in beautiful heavy duty white jars with silver lids, and they have a gorgeous subtle floral scent. I would have loved if the products had come with a little spatula, but thankfully I have one myself so I don't have to continuously dip my fingers into the jar. The products are very concentrated so you seriously only need a pea sized amount, so while the products may be a tad pricey, they will last you a long time, and your skin will thank you for it.

Product Review: Weleda Wild Rose Smoothing Day Cream and Wild Rose Smoothing Night Cream

Today I’d like to share with you my thoughts on the *Weleda Wild Rose Smoothing Day Cream and Wild Rose Smoothing Night Cream;

What I Say:

I recently tried out the Weleda Baby Calendula Shampoo and Body Wash and Baby Oil for my little boy and was quite impressed with the quality of the products, so I was very excited to be trialling these Weleda Wild Rose products as well.

Whenever I start new skincare products, and in particularly creams, I am always concerned as my combination skin is and always has been very prone to breakouts. This is sometimes hard, as at the same time my skin is mature needing more intense products.

 

The Weleda Rose products are specifically intended both normal and dry/mature skin types, so I did worry that the products would be too concentrated for my skin.

The Weleda Rose Smoothing Day Cream promises to help soften first lines and preserve elasticity and vitality, and it is suitable for use under makeup and can be used as both day and night cream. Unfortunately it doesn’t contain any SPF, which is why it is also suitable as a night cream.

The cream is quite light, and yet very concentrated, so it only takes a little. But in spite of the light cream, it does take a little while for it to absorb into the skin, but once it has, it leaves the skin feeling soft and very moisturised, and with a nice sheen. And as promised, it does work perfectly under my makeup, without making it slide off my face due to too much moisture.

The Wild Rose Smoothing Night Cream is only slightly thicker in consistency, yet it instantly feels so much more moisturising on the skin. Again, this cream also takes a few minutes to absorb into the skin, but that is probably also because my skin is not dry, so it may be struggling to absorb the intense moisture. But once absorbed, it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth, and lines seem to be plumped out, clearly enjoying the moisture.

Although we’re quickly heading towards winter and I spend increasingly more time indoors with the heater going, and my skin is always getting drier in this part of the year, and I feel I need to step up my skincare and use more nourishing products. However, unfortunately this night cream is a little too intense for my skin, as I wake in the morning with skin that is feeling quite greasy, so consequently I stopped using it out of fear that it would make my skin congested and eventually breakout.

Both creams come in small metallic tubes in the cutest girly pink, and it has the most gorgeous natural scent of roses, which even after the creams have absorbed into the skin, lingers for quite a while, but as it is such a natural scent, I quite like this. The tubes look exactly the same apart from obviously one saying night cream and having a moon symbol and the other saying day cream and having a sun symbol – this is a nice, however, being blind as a bat without wearing my glasses, I do find it a little difficult to tell the two tubes apart, so I would have preferred if they had for instance been different shades of pink to make that a little easier.

The creams are certified organic, and I love that they are made without synthetic preservatives, fragrances and colourants and that they are free from mineral oil derivatives.

What I Like:

• Super cute girly pink tubes
• Both creams are light, yet vey moisturising
• Leaves skin feeling very soft, thoroughly moisturised and with a nice sheen         
• Products are certified organic
• Made without synthetic preservatives, fragrances and colourants and that they are free from mineral oil derivatives

What I Don’t Like:

• Day cream doesn’t contain SPF
• The creams do take a little while to absorb into the skin
• Without my glasses it is difficult to distinguish between the two tubes

Overall these are really lovely creams, and I love how they feel on the skin and not to mention the lovely scent of roses. Both creams are very hydrating, and unfortunately the night cream is a little too intense for my combination skin, but that really cannot be seen as a negative as the products are intended for dry skin types – so if you have dry skin, and need super hydrating creams as we head towards winter, then I highly recommend that you try these out! As I still really enjoyed using these products I will definitely check out the rest of Weleda’s large product range for some products more suitable for my skin type.

Product Review: Product Review Boots Laboratories Optiva Radiance Renew Foaming Cleanser, Comforting Day Cream & Radiance Boosting Eye Balm

A few decades ago I lived in the UK. And I very quickly discovered the Boots stores, and I think the majority of my spare money was sent there. The stores were amazing. So many products and brands that I had not previously seen or had access to in the small town in Denmark where I grew up. Oh, how I have missed those stores since leaving the UK. And when I’ve flow from Australia to Denmark on my annual trip to visit family and friends, I’ve been looking so forward to the duty free shopping during the layover in Asia or the UK, and although the shops in the airports are tiny, and only carry a very small range, I always still have to go in there, and get something, for old times sake. One of those ranges that I have fond memories off, is Boots own products, which are of such high quality, yet at so low prices. So when I was told that some Boots Laboratories products were becoming available in Australia, and I was asked to trial some, I immediately and excitedly accepted. Here are my thoughts on the *Boots Laboratories Optiva Radiance Renew Foaming Cleanser, Comforting Day Cream & Radiance Boosting Eye Balm;

What They Say:

Radiance Renew Foaming Cleanser: "A gentle foaming wash that leaves your skin feeling fresh, clean and invigorated with a healthy glow. It gently washes make-up and grime away, leaving skin clean and soft. The oil free formula".

Comforting Day Cream: "A rich formula for normal to dry skin. Easily absorbed, Comforting Day Cream helps fight dehydrated, dull looking skin by strengthening and protecting it leaving skin feeling softer, looking smoother, and more radiant. Contains SPF15 and UVA filters for added protection."

Radiance Boosting Eye Balm: "Soothes and brightens your skin with this delicate eye balm. The delicate area around your eye is especially vulnerable to puffiness and dark circles. It uses the Althaea officinalis extract to restore radiance and the skin around the eye will be left more supple, soft and healthy looking."

What I Say:

The Boots Laboratories Optiva promises to help strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier, hydrating it for up to 24 hours, quenching free radicals and help revitalise skin leaving it velvety smooth and glowing with health!

The Optiva is formulated with Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow root) extract, which works as an effective active ingredient by helping rejuvenate the deterioration of the skin and strengthening skin structure. A compound present in althaea officinalis helps to reduce the levels of hyaluronidase and this in turn minimizes swelling and acts as an anti-aging compound. In addition, the products also contain Allantoin, which increases water content, helps shed dead skin cells to increase smoothness of the skin. Helps to heal sensitive and irritated skin, Shea Butter to moisturise the skin to leave it looking and feeling softer and smoother, and help build a better lipid barrier.  And finally it also it also contains Glycerin, which with a combination of other moisturising ingredients, glycerine works throughout the day to give prolonged, all day moisturisation.

Having combination skin prone to breakout, yet having ageing skin too, I am always on the lookout for a products which will care for my skin, while not drying it out. And while I do not have sensitive skin, I love the fact that the Optiva range is suitable for sensitive skin, is hypoallergenic and paraben free too.

The Radiance Renew Foaming Cleanser uses the liquid-to-foam formula that has also recently been so popular in hand soaps – basically, it is a liquid in the bottle, but once you pump it out into your hand, you get the softest foam.

And as promised it easily, and gently cleanses the skin, and clears away any makeup too, even long-wearing, although it does struggle a little with my eye makeup, but I don’t mind that, as I prefer to use a specific eye makeup remove around my sensitive eyes anyway- although it is such a gentle formula, that it could easily be used around the eyes too. And after rinsing off the cleanser, my skin is left soft and smooth, and not at all dried out. But while it does look clean and healthy, I am not really seeing any increase in the radiance of my skintone as the name of the product suggests. The cleanser has a very faint floral scent.

The Comforting Day Cream is formulated for normal to dry skin, so with my combination skin I was a little concerned that it would be too rich for my skin. But that was not the case.

The cream is light and absorbs easily and quickly into the skin without leaving behind any greasy residue, and without making my skin feel like it is drowning in moisture either. This means that as I find that it is still suitable for my combination skin, I could imagine that it wouldn’t provide sufficient moisture for those with drier skin types.

The cream leaves my skin feeling soft and thoroughly moisturised, and with a nice sheen too, and it works perfectly under makeup, and I like that it contains. SPF15 and UVA filters so I know my skin is protected from the sun’s harmful rays, although I would have liked to see this increased to SPF30+. Like the cleanser, it has a very faint floral scent.

Of the three products, the Radiance Boosting Eye Balm is by far my favourite one.

The light eye cream is extremely light and feels both soothing and moisturising on the eye area, without irritating my sensitive eye area. And it is sufficiently moisturising without being too heavy and cause bags under the eyes. After just a few uses, I can see that the area around my eyes is more supple and soft, while unfortunately, as claimed, I have not noticed any reduction in puffiness and dark circles – but that would also have been too good to be true, seeing I hardly get any nights’ sleep at the moment, as I am up several times during the night to comfort our teething little boy.

Unlike the cleanser and the moisturiser, the Eye Balm has next to no scent.

 

What I Like:

• These products are very gentle, and perfect for those with sensitive skin types
• Products are hypoallergenic and paraben free
• Has SPF15
• Well priced
• Now readily available through Amcal & Guardian pharmacies

What I Don’t Like:

• Moisturiser claims to be for normal to dry skin types, but I am not sure it would be sufficiently moisturising for dry skin
• Personally, having combination skin, I’d love the moisturiser to be slightly lighter in consistency

Overall, these are lovely products, and of such a great quality, especially considering their low price (and right now Amcal has $5 off all products too!!). Being at the age where anti-ageing is a concern and I would like to see a few more anti-ageing properties added to the cream and the eye balm, but then again, Boots Laboratories does have a range available, Serum7, which covers this, so really this cannot be seen as a negative. So if you are after some gentle, yet effective products to care for your sensitive skin, then I highly recommend that you check out this Optiva range. And me, I’m just hoping that this is the start of Boots products available here in Australia, and that many more will be launched in the near future. Fingers crossed!

Product Review: David Jones Delux Sampler Tote – Winter 2013

As many others I can’t resist at good beauty gift with purchase, and so I got drawn in to getting the current beauty sampler tote from David Jones.

But thing is, I really didn’t need anything, so I was wondering around in the beauty department, looking at what I could get that that I needed... And so I got a nail polish remover, which I was actually basically out of - fantastic, and at just $4.95!

 

So what did this Deluxe Sampler Tote include…

David Jones Beauty Natural Regeneration Day Cream (30ml) and Deeply Purify Facial Cleanser (30ml)

 

 

I have never tried any of the David Jones products, I have no idea what to expect, but I am looking forward to trying these.

SKII Facial Treatment Essence (30ml)

 

I have heard a lot of good things about this treatment essence, but I have never tried it. I have heard some say that it has made their skin break out, so I am a little concerned that will also be the case with my combination skin prone to breakouts, but this 30ml sample will at least give me a good chance to try it, and see what it is like on my skin without spending up big to buy a full sized product.

The bag also contained a voucher giving you a free SKII Facial Treatment Mask with your first consultation and purchase.

Molton Brown Toko Yuzu Bath & Shower Gel (30ml)

 

 

Another brand that I’ve never tried before, although I’ve heard so much about it, so can’t wait to try it. The shower gel is only small, but at least I can use it once or twice and get a good idea of what it is like.  

There was also a voucher giving you 20% off Molton Brown products when you spend $80 or more.

Circa Home Scented Soy Candle in Vanilla Bean & All Spice (mini size)

 

 

I love scented candles – with two dogs living inside the house, I frequently burn scented candles so that our house wont smell too much of dog. And this Circa candle not only looks so nice, but it smells absolutely divine. The candle was one of the reasons why I selected this particular bag.

OPI Nail lacquer in 37 (3.75ml mini size)

 

I love OPI polishes; they are 3-free, easy to apply, last well, and have a nice colour range, so I’m loving the inclusion of this mini size. In the bottle it looks dark brown or black, but once on the nail it is actually a very dark eggplant/purple colour – I love it!

Billie Goat Soap Lip Balm (Full size, 15ml)

 

 

Yet another brand that is new to me, yet I was aware of. I knew Billie Goat made soaps, but never knew that they made lipbalms too. I love that this one contains no chemical nasties including no parabens, SLS, colour, fragrance etc, yet it still has the most delicious scent of peach.

Roger & Gallet Bois D’Orange Perfumed Soap (25g)

I have seen this brand around before, but again, one I’ve not tried, mainly because I don’t really use soap bars – but in saying that, it smells fantastic so for now it can sit and look pretty in my powder room making it smell nice at the same time, before possibly making into my underwear drawer.

 

Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Day Lotion (7g)

 

 

I love Burt’s Bees, in particularly the lipbalms and the citrus cuticle balm. This day cream smells fantastic, so I look forward to trying it, although I could worry that being intensely hydrating it will be a little too rich for my skin, but time will tell.

Dermalogica Precleanse (30ml)

 

 

Now this is another product that made me select this bag. I have seen so many positive reviews on this cleanser, so I’ve been so keen on trying it. And again, the generous 30ml sample will give me a good chance to see what it’s like on my skin before making a full-sized purchase.

BioElixia Body Shaper body Lotion (20ml)

There was so much hype when Elixia launched their Body Shaper lotion, but sadly it isn’t cheap, but this 20ml sample will again be a good chance to try it, although it is probably too small to expect to see any results.

 

Everything came in a black plastic tote, which to be honest I'm not really sure what to do with as its not really my style.

 

 

 

Inside the tote was a see-through plastic cosmetic back holding all the samples, and while I have lots of better quality cosmetic and toilet bags, I do like this see-through one and can see myself using it to store samples so I can easily find what I am looking for.

 

 

 

On the whole I think that this bag is extremely good value for just $19.95 – and in my eyes better value than any of the monthly beauty boxes that I’ve seen – also because you can actually see in advance what you are getting.

Product Review: Societe Clinical Skin Care Prime & Defend Moisturiser SPF15

Since I moved to Australia over a decade ago, sadly my Scandinavian started to see an increasing amount of pigmentation, so I am always very aware of protecting my skin, to avoid it increasing any further. Here are my thoughts on the *Societe Prime & Defend Moisturiser SPF15;

What They Say:
"Protect against unwanted pigmentation with physical sun protection in a hydrating base with a tint to give the skin a healthy appearance with or without make up. Dries transparent. Suitable for ALL skin types. Prime and Defend does not clog pores (non-comedogenic), offers Antioxidant-rich protection with Green Tea, provides effective environmental barrier protectant, is lightly tinted to even out skin tone and smoothes and softens skin.  Prime and Defend is an excellent primer for all make-up, including mineral make-up."

What I Say:

I have to be honest and admit that I have never heard of the Societe brand before, but I love it when I come across and get to explore new brands.

Societe Clinical Skin Care is an American range of exclusive products, created with the professional skin care specialist in mind. For ease in prescribing and at-home use, ingredients are clearly visible on product packaging and identified via a unique Societe classification system. This system is a five-ingredient breakdown targeting the essential components needed to achieve healthy skin. The numbers on each box indicate how many Antioxidants, Acids, Proteins, Plant Sources and Vitamins are in each individual product.

The products are also free from parabens, propylene glycol, and sodium lauryl sulfate, as well as they are free from fragrances and artificial dies, and of course Cruelty Free! Big bonus points from me!
The Societe Prime & Defend Moisturiser SPF15 is an oil-free day cream with a tint intended to be used in the morning before makeup, sun exposure and as desired for moisture.

Having combination skin, prone to breakouts I am always worried when I try a new cream, especially when it contains SPF, as that often makes it even worse, but was relieved when I read that Prime and Defend does not clog pores. That’s a good sign.

In spite the moisturiser having a slight tint, as soon as applied into the skin, you wouldn’t even know, as it dries completely transparent, which means that it doesn’t really help cover any imperfections or even out the skin tone. But it does leave the skin with a nice sheen, and hence working perfectly under makeup.

The cream absorbs instantly into the skin, making it feel soft to touch, and in spite of it being oil-free, it leaves my skin feeling thoroughly moisturised, without leaving behind greasy residue.

The Prime and Defend comes in a simple white plastic bottle with a pump, which as always I really do like as it makes it not only very easy to use, but also very hygienic as you don’t have to keep contaminating the cream by dipping your fingers into it. The only downside to the pump and the fact that the bottle is a solid white, means that it is impossible to see exactly how much product is left in the bottle, as well at it can be difficult to use up every last drop of product, but only time will tell.

It doesn’t appear as if the cream contains any added fragrance, yet it has a slight chemical scent, which also reminds me a little of liquorice, and although it does fade a little once absorbs into the skin, it does linger around for a while. But as it is only a slight scent, it doesn’t bother me.   

The cream works perfectly under makeup, and really does act as a primer, as even without the use of a primer, I feel that my makeup stays put for longer, than with most other moisturisers used on their own.

And after having used the moisturiser for over a month, I am happy to say that my skin has not broken out at all. So I really do believe the claims that it is suitable for all skintypes, from combination/oily, as well as sensitive skintypes would also be able to use it as it is so gentle and fragrance free.

Obviously I have not noticed any changes to my existing pigmentation and sun damage, but it is great knowing that the moisturiser is protecting the skin from both UVA and UVB rays.

At $79.20 it is not exactly cheap, but I do like, and am happy to pay a little extra for a product that I know has been made with the best ingredients and is free from chemical nasties.

 

While unfortunately the moisturiser does not have any anti-ageing benefits, it is a fantastic general day cream, which does leave my skin thoroughly moisturised and with a lovely glow too! I will enjoy using the remainder of this cream, and definitely look into other products in the Societe range.

Product Review: The Jojoba Company Starter Pack

Since being pregnant, I have taken an increasing interest in more natural skincare products, and have, where possible, tried to avoid those filled with too many chemicals. Getting pregnant took a lot of time and a lot of heart ache (which you can read about here), so naturally, during my I have wanted to ensure that I’ve only been using products which cannot harm my little baby boy. Here are my thoughts on the *Jojoba Company Starter Pack;

What I Say:

A while ago I reviewed the Jojoba Oil from the Jojoba Company, (you can see my review here, as well as here ), and I absolutely loved it – so of course I had big hopes for the rest of the product range as well. 

The Starter pack includes a selection of the bestselling Jojoba Company products including Bead Facial Cleanser, Absolute Serum, CoQ10 Antioxidant Serum, Hydrating Day Cream, Intense Overnight Renewal Cream, 100% Natural Makeup Remover and 100% Natural Australian Jojoba. 

 

All the products are natural and free from chemical nasties, which means that the products do not contain parabens, sulphates, silicones, petrochemicals, phthalates, mineral oil, harmful chemicals or detergents, paraffin, DEA, artificial fragrances or colours! Of course they are not tested on animals either. How good does that sound!

Some of the samples in the starter pack are a little small, so obviously I’ve only been able to use them a few times, but still I will do my very best to let you know my thoughts.


100% Natural Australian Jojoba , 30ml

“Powerful natural moisturiser, wrinkle smoother, anti-aging, soothes the appearance of skin, hair, scalp, hand and cuticle conditioner. 100% Natural.”

Again, I have reviewed this wonder product before (you can see the review here), so I will not go into too much depth again. But in my opinion, this is the key wonder product from the Jojoba company, as it is such a brilliant multi-tasking product. It can be used as a moisturiser, to tame flyaway hairs, to soften dry cuticles and nails, you name it, this product does it all.


Jojoba Bead Facial Cleanser, 20ml

“A deep penetrating balanced cleanser enriched with jojoba beads that release intensely nourishing esters and gently exfoliate. Vitamin C rich quandong, aloe vera and Vitamin E deeply cleanse without stripping skin of its natural oils. Jojoba’s natural cleansing and moisturising properties leave the skin clean, soft and luxuriously hydrated. 98% Natural.”
The cleanser has just the right amount of beads give the skin a nice exfoliating. Not too much and not too little. It is very gentle, so it can be used daily, and consequently I think this is also perfectly suited to those with sensitive skin types.

Unlike other facial scrubs, it doesn’t leave the skin dry and tight, but rather it feels very clean, soft and very moisturised.

It has a natural yet gentle scent, no doubt coming from the essential oils in the cleanser, which includes Ylang Ylang, Rosa Damascena and Cedarwood Bark.


Jojoba Absolute Serum, 3ml
 

The Absolute Serum “helps reduce the visible signs of lines and wrinkles and firm up the appearance of slackened skin naturally. The di-peptide carnosine in conjunction with hyaluronic acid and silymarin, a potent antioxidant from milk thistle, work together to aid collagen production and refine skin smoothness and expression lines. Skin is relaxed, less lined, intensely re-plumped and visibly smoothed. 97% Natural.”
The serum claims to decrease frown lines by 24%, decrease crow’s feet by 27% and increase skin firmness by 19.5% after 4 weeks of treatment. But of course with such a small sample, there is no way that I can test this claim.

According to the box it is recommended to use the Absolute serum in the morning under the Hydrating Day Cream. This is a very small sample, but as it is very concentrated, not much is needed, so I still managed to get about a weeks worth of use out of the small tube. Always worried that intensive serums are going to make my combination break out, I am happy to say that has so far not been the case.

The serum is a clear/white light gel which absorbs quickly into my skin, so it is instantly ready to for the moisturiser. It leaves my skin soft, moisturised and plump. And without any greasy residue, so it works perfectly under makeup as well. When I take my makeup off at night, my skin still feels soft, and very moisturised, almost as if I have just removed a moisture mask, so it has clearly done its wonders underneath my makeup during the day.

Unlike the other products, the Absolute Serum has a slightly stronger and spicy scent, than the Jojoba Oil and the Bead Cleanser, possibly due to it containing kakadu plum fruit extract, ginseng root extract, lilly pilly fruit extract, and the bitter orange flower oil. But as I know these are natural ingredients, it doesn’t not bother me at all, and besides, the scent quickly fades once the serum has absorbed into the skin.

 
CoQ10 Antioxidant Serum, 3ml 

“This naturally potent CoQ10 Antioxidant Serum works to energise and revitalise the appearance of skin. Co enzyme Q10 works in a synergistic way with Vitamin E to boost the antioxidant capacity of this serum, helping to maintain a healthy, younger looking complexion. This serum is ideal to help protect skin against the signs of premature aging. 97% Natural.”
This serum s to be used at night under the Intense Overnight Renewal Cream, and it claims to help with the prevention of fine lines and wrinkles, but as this is another of the smaller samples, unfortunately I cannot put this claim to the test.

The clear serum absorbs quickly into the skin, and leaves it feeling nice and refreshed no doubt due to it containing soothing Aloe Vera and green tea meant to reduce puffiness. And again, it doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy.

Like the Absolute Serum, the CoQ10 Antioxidant Serum is very concentrated, so in spite of being a very small sample, I still manage to have sufficient serum to last me for a week.

It has a nice but gentle refreshing natural scent, (again probably from the Aloe Vera, and the green tea).


Hydrating Day Cream 30ml

 

“High performance anti-aging moisturiser enriched with green tea and olive leaf extracts, skin calming chamomile, beta glucan, Vitamins B & E and skin firming Siberian Ginseng to supplement the deep moisturising properties of jojoba. 95% Natural.”
This is one of the more generous samples in the pack, so it gives a good opportunity to use it for a while.

The Day Cream comes in a small glass bottle, with a handy pump, which I really like, as it makes it easy to use.

In spite of being called a cream, it is a very light, almost watery, so I think the name lotion is more fitting. It is very concentrated so you only need to use a little for the full face, two small pumps is more than sufficient. It absorbs instantly, and leaves my skin moisturised and soft to touch, with no greasiness in sight. With the serum underneath, it works well at keeping my skin well moisturised. And it seems to stop my skin from getting greasy during the day too, but in saying that, we are also heading towards winter, where my skin automatically does get a little drier.

Again, it has a natural scent, which although it does fade as the cream has absorbed into the skin, it does linger around for a while. The only negative about this day cream is that it unfortunately do not contain any SPF, which I do find is very necessary under the harsh Australian sun.


Intense Overnight Renewal Cream, 20ml

“A restorative, luxurious cream with concentrated powerful natural active ingredients to encourage skin renewal. Antioxidants including Vitamin E, CoQ10 and green tea protect skin from drying effects of the environment, while beta glucan, argan oil and wild yam nourish and hydrate. Marine collagen, hyaluronic acid and Vitamin A reduce the appearance of wrinkles and plump skin. 97% Natural". 
This is another generous sample, so again, a great opportunity to give a good test-run.

This cream is very concentrated, and only a little is needed. Due to being so concentrated, I did find that it takes a little while for it to absorb into the skin. But it does leave my skin soft, moisturise, and looking plumb. But unfortunately the next morning, my skin is looking and feeling a little greasy and a bit congested, so the combination of the CoQ10 Antioxidant Serum and the Intense Overnight Renewal Cream is simply too much for my combination skin, so I consequently stopped using it out of fear it would make my skin break out. So in spite of being recommended for all skin types, I do think it is more suitable for those with more dry skin.


100% Natural Makeup Remover, 30ml

 

“A 100% natural jojoba based makeup remover enriched with a nutrient rich blend of natural fruit oils, kiwi, passionfruit, blood orange, musk melon, cranberry and pink grapefruit which also work as natural AHAs to gently remove dead skin cells. It will effectively remove all traces of makeup, leaving your skin clean, deeply hydrated, soft and smooth. 100% Natural.”
This is another decent sized sample in the box, which come in the same style frosted glass pump bottle as the Hydrating Day Cream. Simple and stylish, and easy to use.

Having very sensitive eyes that easily water, I always wear long wearing eye makeup, including mostly waterproff mascara, so this was going to put this makeup remover to the test. But just a few pumps onto a cotton ball and wiped over my eye makeup, and it was gone. No rubbing or tearing needed, and no stinging in my eyes!! Afterwards my eye area is left feeling a little greasy, but as I always double cleanse my full face with a facial wash (as also recommended by The Jojoba Company) after removing my eye makeup, it quickly got rid of any oily residue.

Unlike the rest of the products in the starter pack, the makeup remover has a nice and fruity scent, from the natural fruit oils from among others the kiwi, passionfruit, melon, and pink grapefruit used in the product.


All in all, this is a fantastic starter pack as it contains a little bit of everything, with some larger samples as well, so it will give you a very good idea of the product range, and give you a chance to see if they work with your skin type. I also love the fact that the box gives very detailed description of all the products, and explains how to use the products as well. I already loved the Jojoba Oil, but can now also add the Makeup Remover, the Hydrating Day Cream and the Jojoba Bead Facial Cleanser to my favourites! So natural products, yet so efficient, what’s not to love!
