Today I enlist the assistance of our little boy again, this time to test out the Lamaze Twist & Turn Hatchlings...
The Lamaze Twist & Turn Hatchlings is a toddler toy suitable from approx. 6 months, and it features a strong suction cup that means that it can be attached to any surface, from the table, floor, stroller tray or the high chair, for instant fun.
The Lamaze Twist & Turn Hatchlings is like a little spinning carousel featuring four cute different bright coloured hatchlings with different textures, that each spin individually as well as they make rattling noises. The hatchlings also have different coloured shells and soft flappy ears and they are easy for little hands to grab hold of and spin. It also features some smaller rings in between the hatchlings, and a larger ring at the bottom of the toy, which can also be twisted, and makes a clicking noise.
This all in all helps with making the baby listen out for the rattling and clicking noises to awaken auditory awareness, and also helps make the baby make the connection between sight, touch and sound. The bright and bold colours help stimulate vision, while the moving of the carousel and hatchlings and the smaller rings on the carousel help encourage the baby to grasp and turn the toy, thus helping to refine motor skills.
I really like that I can attach this toy safely to any surface, and quickly and easily remove it again - and that, as yet, my little boy hasn't quite worked out how to do this yet - which is a nice change from all the other toys which often are thrown off his highchair table within seconds of him getting them. The toy is also very lightweight, so it is perfect to pop in the bag if you're going out to cafe's and restaurants.
Having the toy 'permanently' there helps keep him entertained, if I for instance put him in the highchair if I'm in the kitchen cooking, and cannot chase him around the floor.
And my little boy loves 'fiddling' with the hatchlings, their little ears, and the little rings between the hatchlings, so definitely a toy we'd recommend. And as it is a of high quality, it is also very well priced at just $20.

Today I've got another toy review for you, this time curtesy of our little Jake who has been testing Freddie the Firefly Rattle from Lamaze.
This little firefly is very adorable, and in actual fact, we've already go the hanging version in the car, which as purchased before our now 3 year old was born, only I didn't actually remember that his name was Freddie.
This rattle version of Freddie The Firefly is intended from babies as small as newborns and is easy for little hands to grab thanks to the has fold out plastic wings, which also has different colours as well as textures to make then double as the perfect teething toy. When you turn these wings, the toy makes a ratchet sound.
Freddie also has a soft plush head with a cute smile, as well as ribbon feels. And at the bottom he has a clear pod filled with tiny beads, which makes the rattling sound when you shake it, and also is great for the baby to look at.
Freddie is very colourful, featuring more or less all the colours in the rainbow, and has lots of features for an engaging and multi-sensory play for your little one.
My little boy is probably borderline too old for this toy, yet it is still very useful as he has quickly discovered that it is perfect for rubbing those sore teething gums, and he also loves just sitting there and fiddling with the ribbon feelers.
This is a great quality toy that will keep your little one engaged time after time, and personally I love that the wings fold together so it is also easy to pop into the nappy bag when you're going out.

A little while ago Disney Junior launched the movie Miles from Tomorrowland, which is a series about a boy called Miles, and his adventures as a space cadet travelling through outer space discovering galaxies filled with aliens and high-tech gadgets. His mission is to go boldly where no seven-year old has gone before.
To coincide with the launch, TOMY has launched a matching toy line, allowing children to recreate episodes and become a part of the story. My little boy was lucky to be sent a selection of the toys, and here are our thoughts.
The key piece of the toy line is without a doubt the Stellosphere (RRP: 79.95). This spaceship is absolutely huge, and it is the home to Miles and his family. It can split into three smaller ships, which can be used individually but which also can be put together to form a huge playset. When you open up the playset, a command centre is revealed where Miles and his family can receive new missions, and it also has lots of other cool features such as lights, sounds and phrases from the show, and when you put Miles or any of the other figures (which can be purchased individually) into the changing chamber they glows.
There are also six different Basic figures available to collect, which includes Galactic Miles, Superstellar Miles, Merc, Pipp, Loretta and Phoebe (RRP: 10.95 each).
Finally, the Scout Rover (RRP: $22.99) is buggy that Miles and his dad, Leo uses when they are on a mission and need to conquer the rocky terrain. The vehicle comes with the Leo Figure, and it has room for two figures. It has push-down projectile launchers, but can also be connected to the Vehicle Rocket System from the Stellosphere, to activate lights and sounds.
At 2.5 years old, my little boy is slightly younger than the recommended age group for this toy, but I don’t find it is an issue, as he is generally playing with toys above his age. And he absolutely adores this spaceship, and all the figures that comes with it, - the Stellosphere is simply the perfect version of a dolls house for a boy, and it allows him to use his imagination and role play at a completely new level, also thanks to the sheer size and all the features, with the lights and phrases. The Scout Rover and all the figures help make the playset even more fun to play with.
These toys may not be the cheapest around, but my little boy has already spent countless hours playing with them, and he keeps getting back to them again and again, while he often tires of other and more simple toys a lot quicker. When we go for long drives, I always tell him to pack his little backpack with toys, and he often wants to take the Stellosphere with him, although unfortunately it is a little too big for him to sit with in his car seat – but it goes to show that it truly has become a favourite toy – so if you’ve got a little boy, I’d highly recommend that you check out this Miles from Tomorrowland range.
