PRODUCT REVIEW: PHYSICIANS FORMULA MURUMURU BUTTER BRONZER, ABC CUSHION FOUNDATION AND ORGANIC WEAR CC CURL AND CARE MASCARA
I have previously featured some products from Physicians Formula - and today I'm excited to share a few more that I've been putting to the test lately..
Let's start with the Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer. This bronzer has been infused with blend of Murumuru Butter, Cupuacu Butter and Tucuma Butter, from the lush and nutrient-rich Amazon. These ingredients are loaded with essential fatty acids and pro-vitamins that soften, condition and moisturise skin, and thanks to these ingredients, the bronzer is very creamy and soft with a cream to powder consistency.
The bronzer comes with a sponge applicator included in a compartment underneath the bronzer, which also has a mirror - which packaging wise, is very similar to other powders from the brand. And while the coloured is very cute and perfect for touchups on the go, I pretty much only apply makeup at home, so I do prefer to use my own brushes in stead. The bronzer has a stunning rippled effect, and comes in a slightly bulky yellow and green compact, with printed palm leaves, that does give it a tropical feel, which is only accentuated by the coconut scent. If you regularly tune into BLH, you'll know that coconut scented products are not exactly my faves, and thus, I would also prefer if this bronzer wasn't quite as strongly scented as it is. But luckily it does fade little by little.
As for the actual bronzer - I actually really enjoy using it as it is so soft and creamy, it is quick and easy to apply and also blends very easily, and it does give the skin a gorgeous natural bronzed glow, and without looking dry or cakey thanks to its moisturising formula. I also really like that it unlike many other bronzers doesn't contain any glitter or shimmer. I tried the shade Light, which is perfect for my medium beige skin tone, but I can imagine that this shade is possibly too dark for those with very pale skin. Overall really enjoying using this bronzer, but again just wish that it didn't have such a strong, and to me it is a slightly overpowering coconut scent.
Then there's the Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free All-in-1 ABC Cushion Foundation. Cushion Foundations are very raved about at the moment, and most brands have or are launching their own versions, and I for one, have to admit that I do love these types of foundations having tried a few different ones, so also excited putting this one from Physicians Formula to the test. And I have to say that of everything I've tried, and seen too, this Cushion Foundation from Physicians Formula is without a doubt the prettiest of them all, with its turquoise quilted design. It also has a slightly bulky design, but then again, all other cushion foundations I've come across are like that! And like all other Cushions I've tried, this one also have an internal compartment with an extra seal to ensure it doesn’t dry out, and it comes with a sponge to dose and apply. The foundation has a very light mineral formula and claims to be an all in one offering airbrushing, blurring and correcting properties, while also adding hydration to the skin and having a smoothing and firming effect.
The foundation has a light to medium coverage, which can be built up slightly, and thus does cover minor imperfections such as lighter pigmentation, blemishes and redness, though I do feel that I need to use a more heavy duty concealer to cover the massive dark circles under my eyes I've been sporting lately. But that said, I do love the dewy finish of this foundation and the fact that it makes my skin look very natural, and I can see myself purchasing this again.
Finally, there's the Physicians Formula Organic Wear CC Curl + Care Mascara. This mascara is 100% natural and made up of 70% organic ingredients, which I really love. It is also free from harsh chemicals, synthetic preservatives, parabens and synthetic fillers, but rather it uses natural colour pigments and natural preservatives. It also contains aloe, cucumber and tapioca starch to nourish and set, sugar film to sculpt the lashes, along with renewable biopolymer to add curve and fullness.
The mascara promises to both care, condition and nourish the lashes, while giving them curl as if you've used an eyelash curler! Now I admit to rarely using an eye lash curler, but I don’t quite think the mascara can live up to this claim of 'saying goodbye to your eyelash curler', although it certainly does give my lashes a significant lift and curl. The mascara has a curved brush and I like that from the very first use, it doesn't clump like many other new mascaras that are simply too wet in the beginning. For a drug-store mascara it also adds a decent amount of both volume and length, and again also curl to my lashes which I really like, although neither is dramatic - but then again, it doesn’t make that claim either. The mascara also promises to provide 24 hours wear, but unfortunately my eyes very easily water, and consequently I mostly use waterproof mascaras to avoid that panda look - and unfortunately this mascara isn't waterproof, and after a walk where the cold winds made my eyes water, I sadly had more mascara down my cheeks when I got home than on my lashes. Such a shame, as I actually think this is a great everyday mascara.
So there you go, a selection of Physicians Formula products. And while I really enjoyed using all, and will continue to use them, the highlight for me was definitely the Cushion Foundation.

QUICK EVERYDAY MAKEUP - WITH JANE IREDALE DREAM TINT, PHYSICIANS FORMULA, MAX FACTOR, CLARINS, SCOUT, RIMMEL, L'OREAL, ERE PEREZ
With a toddler running around my legs, these days it is rare that I have much more than 5-10 minutes or so to do my makeup before my little boy has pulled everything out from the bathroom cabinets. So most I rely on products which will allow me to apply my makeup quickly. Here are my current picks;
I use a tinted moisturiser, the Dream Tint from Jane Iredale which gives me a lovely even skin tone and a lovely dewy matte look with a lovely glow all while still looking very natural. It is very moisturising, so on hot and humid summer days I don’t even need to apply a moisturiser first (but I’d never skip my serum!), and as it also comes with SPF15, that side is covered too! (I have previously reviewed this Dream Tint and you can see my full review here!)
I then use the Physicians Formula Bronze Booster, which works to both contour the face, and add a touch of a bronze healthy look to my face (and if I feel like it, to my décolleté and shoulders as well!). The palette contains two bronze shades so depending on my mood I can either use both of them together, or even separately. The bronzer also has a touch of golden shimmer, adding a touch glow to my face.
If I have time, I like to add a touch of highlighter to the top of my cheek bones – it simply adds a touch of glow and life to my dull tired face. And this Mineral Illuminser from Scout Cosmetics is my current go to product. It is made from natural minerals it adds such a lovely natural and healthy glow, all without being too shimmery or glittery. (RRP: $44.95)
On my cheeks I love using the Ere Perez Cheek and Lip Balm in Holy. In the compact it looks to be a dark berry shade, but once on the cheeks it has a lovely sheer velvety finish that is so natural as if you’ve just pinched your cheeks! And if I want a darker effect, I simply just add a little more. It is quick and easy to apply with your fingers, and any remains you can simply wipe over your lips for a lovely stain, although I do love applying it with the incredibly soft Ere Perez Multipurpose Brush that is perfect blending for all creamy products. RRP: $32.95)
On my eyes I use the Wild Shadow Pots from Max Factor in either Savage Rose, Auburn Envy, or Burnt Bark. These eye shadows are very pigmented, and just a quick wipe is all it takes for a casual everyday look. I often just use one colour on its own, but if I do have a little more time, combine two or three of them.
To line my eyes I use the Super Liner Silkissme from L’Oreal Paris. The black eyeliner, glides on smoothly and easily, without any pulling or dragging. It gives an intense look with a nice shine that lasts all days, even when my eyes are watering. (RRP: $22.95) Above the lash line, I currently like using the Instant Liner from Clains. This eyeliner makes it so easy to draw a precise and fine line, while providing intense pigment that simply doesn’t budge or fade during the day.
And of course I cannot skip mascara, and my current pick is the Scandal Eyes Rockin’ Curves from Rimmel London. The large curved brush on this mascara makes it so easy to get to even the smallest of lashes, evenly coating them, and giving them both volume and length as well as a nice curl. No lash curler needed! (RRP: $16.95)
Next is the pout, as of curse you cannot skip the lips. And like most others I really love the crayon style lipsticks and balms, and my current picks are the Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balms from Covergirl as they are just so easy to apply also on the go later in the day thanks to the twist-up pen. I love shade Mauve Twist, which is a lovely dark nude mauve shade, or Berry Twist when I feel like something a little bolder as it is a brighter fuchsia pink shade. The both go on sheer, although you can build up the colour, all while still leaving a nice glossy shine to the lips. And they double as lip balms too, as they are so moisturising on the lips containing both shea and mango butter. (RRP: $12.95)
Unless I’ve already run out of time, I also prefer doing my brows before I run out the door. They are victims of serial over-plucking so a little help from the Colour Riche Eye Brow Pencil from L’Oreal is needed. With this pencil it is so quick and easy to fill in any gaps to define the brows, while the convenient brush at the other end helps style them into place! (RRP: $22.95)
So there you go, my current picks of products that are so quick and easy to use when you are in a hurry, but still want to apply your makeup..

PRODUCT REVIEW: PHYSICIANS FORMULA NUDE WEAR RANGE
Today I'd like to show you some beautiful products from the Physicians Formula Nude Wear range. These products were launched and sent to me quite some time ago, but with our son so sick and in hospital for 4.5 months I just didn't get a chance to post about them until now. The range includes two Nude Wear Glow Palettes, a Nude Wear Blush and a Nude Wear Touch of Glow Miracle Tool.
Now, I have done quite few reviews of different Physicians Formula Powders, and I hate to say this, but I still don't like the included brush. It is stiff and not only scratches up the pretty embussed designs of the powders in a flash, they are also not very good for applying the products with a nice even finish. I would so love to see these brushes improved to a softer style, or as I basically never apply makeup on the go, and always use my own brushes anyway, I wouldn't really miss these brushes if they were simply left out, - it could consequently mean that the usual slightly bulky compact could be a tad thinner, which would be nice!!
Both the Glow Palette and the Blush come in a cute nude palette in a material that I think is supposed to look like leather. They have a metallic box at the top, making them look so pretty and very girlie.
Now onto the actual products... The Nude Wear Glow Palette is intended as an all in one palette. It is made up of four tiles in graduating shades of color that ranging from light to dark, from an off white highlighter and illuminating powder in the top corner, a pink for the blush to give the cheeks a pop of colour, a beige powder to use all over the face, and a bronzer to give you a sun-kissed glow.
The shades are put together with the intension of giving you a barely there nude look with a touch of glow. The palette has a touch of pearlescent shimmer, yet it is very subtle. The actual palette does have Nude Wear written in shimmery texture, which obviously does give a bit more sheen, but this writing does dissappear rather quickly.
Like the Glow Palette, the Physicians Formula Nude Wear Glowing Nude Blush is made up of four squares, but being a blush, it contains just different shades of pink, making it suitable for a variety of skin tones, as you can always focus more on one shade, or leave out on that is too dark or light for your skin tone.
It is easy to apply, and as it has the slightest bit of shimmer although less than the palette. It gives the skin a natural rosy transparent glow, yet it is pigmented enough to build up the colour if you wish.
Finally, the Nude Wear Touch of Glow Pen is an all-in-one tool that can be used as a concealer, highlighter pen, and for genera touch ups. It comes in a pen style with a brush at the end, so it is easy to apply, and blend too.
As it does have the tiniest touch of shimmer, unfortunately I don't find that it is suitable for covering up the bags under my eyes as they are surrounded by beginning lines, and I don't really want to draw attention to them, also because it does have sheer cover. However, I do find it useful to cover minor marks and use as a highlighter on brow bones and on top of the cheeks.
Overall I am impressed with the quality of these products from Physicians Formula, in particularly the Glow Palettes and the Blush.

PRODUCT REVIEW: PHYSICIANS FORMULA OOH LA LA SEXY EYES TRIO
I’ve always loved
the products from Physicians Formula, both for their quality, but certainly
also for their always cute and thought out packaging. So when I received a huge
parcel a while ago chock full of new releases I was in complete chock at not
only the generosity of Physicians Formula, but also so excited at all the new
products. Only issue has been which products to try first. Always wearing and
searching for a great eye liner, the Ooh La la Sexy Eyes Trio was one of the
first products that stood out, here are my thoughts;
What They Say:
All the products have a quite strong smell of vanilla, which I must admit that I find a little odd. I mean, you’re so used to your lipsticks and moisturisers having a scent, but certainly not my eye liners!! I have quite sensitive eyes that easily water and get irritated, so I would have preferred the products to be fragrance free, but in saying that, it is claimed that the products are hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested and safe for sensitive eyes, and I also cannot say that I’ve had any irritations at all using the products.

What I Say:
Of course I have to
start by commenting on the packaging of these products, which come in a cute
little red and black lacey case, held together by a little bow with a
high-heeled charm. The actual products are also red, but metallic red with
black writing.
This trio of
products contain three different eye liners designed for different purposes, so
that you can create a variety of different looks. The trio includes a
- Kohl kajal eyeliner that is perfect for the inner rims
- Felt tip liquid eyeliner to create cat eye definition of the upper lid
- Eye Liner pencil for lower lash line definition
You can use each of
the products on their own when you want a simple look, or you can use all three
together if you are after a bold look.
The kohl kajal eye
liner is my top pick of the three eye liners as it has a very intense colour
and applies very easily and smoothly. The eye liner pencil also applies easily
without too much dragging of pulling of the eye area, but personally I would
have liked the colour to be a little more intense.
Finally, the felt
tip liquid liner, is probably my least favourites of the three. While I love
the small liner that makes it easy to hold, it seems to be a little watery and
hence you have to reapply two to three times to get a solid bold line.
However, common for
all three, is that once on, they do stay put all day, without smudging or fading.
All the products have a quite strong smell of vanilla, which I must admit that I find a little odd. I mean, you’re so used to your lipsticks and moisturisers having a scent, but certainly not my eye liners!! I have quite sensitive eyes that easily water and get irritated, so I would have preferred the products to be fragrance free, but in saying that, it is claimed that the products are hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested and safe for sensitive eyes, and I also cannot say that I’ve had any irritations at all using the products.
Overall, I really
like the idea of this eyeliner trio, and the fact that you’ve got a product for
every need. And whilst the pigmentation could have been a touch better, you
certainly cannot fault the price, as I believe you’d struggle purchasing three
different eyeliners for the same price!

PRODUCT REVIEW: PHYSICIANS FORMULA POWDER PALETTE MULTI-COLOURED CUSTOM BLUSH FOR BLONDES AND BRUNETTES
A little while ago I received a huge parcel from Physicians Formula
containing all their new product releases. And trust me when I say that there
were a lot. So it has been a bit of an issue to decide not only which product
to try first! Here are my thoughts on the Powder Palette Multi-Coloured Custom

So these new Powder
Palette Multi-Coloured Custom Blushes have been designed specifically to
compliment your hair colour, whether you have blonde or brunette hair, as they
will enhance your skin tone and play up your hair colour. 
Both of the blushes have a beautiful hexagon design pattern that
features both warm and cool pearlescent colours that give your skin a radiant
finish and will highlight your cheekbones. At first glance the two blushes look
quite similar, but at closer look you will notice that the shade designed for
blondes have more cool tones in the mix, while the shade for brunettes features
more warm and golden shades.
I’ve tried both of the shades, and with brunette hair, the shade for
brunettes should consequently suit my skin better. I tend to agree, and that it
also does give my skin some more warmth, but in saying that, I also didn’t mind
the lighter shade for blondes, possibly because it is in the middle of winter
here now, and my skin consequently is quite pale. 
The actual powder is light I consistency, and it does wear quite well
during the day, without fading or making my skin shine. And although it does
have a pearlescent sheen, it merely gives the skin nice glow without being over
the top.
Physicians Formula also mentions that you can use the blushes both dry
and wet – dry with a brush, and wet with a damp sponge for a more defined and
dramatic look. Personally I found that I got plenty of definition and colour by
using it dry with a brush, so I have to admit to not having tried to use it
wet!
At first the blushes go on quite sheer, but it is easy to build up the
colour, so you do have to be cautious not applying too much – and especially if
you use enclosed brush..
The blushes come in bright pink and very girly packaging, that has a
hidden compartment that houses a brush, as well as it has a mirror, and both
are great for any touch ups on the go during the day. However, as I believe to
have mentioned in previous Physicians Formula reviews, I do find their brushes
a little stiff, and that they quickly ‘scratch up’ the powder, and you
consequently lose a bit of powder with each use, as well as I find that it is
more difficult to blend the blush and you apply too much by mistake. So I
therefore prefer to use the blushes with my own softer blush brushes, but on
the other hand if you haven’t got a suitable brush, or do like to be able to
apply the blush when you’re on the go, then you cannot complain about it being
included..
Overall, these are lovely blushes, and I’m surprised to admit that it
really does make a difference which shade you use. So if you are after your
perfect blush shade, Physicians Formula has basically taken all the guesswork
out for you to ensure you pick the right shade. How brilliant is that!

A little while ago I was lucky to be sent some of Physicians Formula’s newly launched products. Amongst these were a new range called Argan Wear. Here are my thoughts on the Physicians Formula Argan Wear Blush, Bronzer, BB Cream and Ultra Nourishing Argan Oil;

With the Argan Wear range all the products are enriched with 100% pure argan oil from Morocco that is intended to have a nourishing effect on the skin.
The Physicians Formula Ultra Nourishing Argan Oil comes in a very cute glass bottle with a gold lid, and contains 100% Pure Argan Oil, and I really like that it is completely natural. It is also a true multi-tasking product as it can be used on face, body hair and nails. Unfortunately I instantly felt that it was too greasy to use on my combination skin, as it simply made it feel greasy within a few hours, so I cannot really comment on how it performed on smoothing the appearance of fine lines, brightening the skin and give it a nice glow. I did however enjoy using it in my hair to smooth down frizz, and add extra moisture to dry ends, and also enjoyed using on my nails and cuticles, which are very dry and neglected and clearly benefitted from the rich oil. That said, I am not sure that I would repurchase this again, for the pure reason that I believe that there are hair and nail oils available, at a budget friendlier price.
Physicians Formula BB Cream is a very light cream that has a light coverage, that however, can built up ever so slightly where needed, although I still find that I need to use a concealer to cover under eye circles, blemishes and darker areas of pigmentation. The BB Cream is easy to apply and blend with your fingers, although of course you can use a sponge or makeup brush too. And it leaves you with a nice natural finish and healthy glow. Personally I do prefer foundations with a slightly better coverage, but that’s probably mainly because I feel I’ve got a lot of pigmentation and scarring from past acne to cover. However, the BB cream is perfect for casual days or when you want a very natural ‘no-makeup’ look. It lasts fairly well on my combination skin although I do need to use a primer first to make it last the day.

The gold glitter on top is luckily just sitting on top of the powder and once you’ve used it a few times ,it is more or less gone, - although I have to admit to trying to scrape it off, as I have to say that I prefer it without the gold as I find it a little too much - well, at least I think it is on my ageing skin, and I much prefer just a subtle amount of shimmer and not the intense shine and glitter that the gold gives. The blush comes in two shades, Rose and Neutral with the Rose shade having slightly brighter shades of pink. At the moment I prefer the Neutral shade, but that is probably because I’m quite winter pale and hence find the more subtle shade suits my skin better, but come summer and I get a little more colour in my face, I’m sure that will change. The blush is fairly pigmented, so you can easily build up the colour, while also blend it out to be quite understated and sheer. Once you get rid of the golden glitter on top, the blush gives you a nice but subtle sheen and a healthy radiance thanks to light reflecting pigments
The blushes come in slightly bulky gold plastic compacts, which includes a mirror and also a small brush hidden in a compartment underneath the blush. Personally I prefer applying blush with my own better quality and larger brushes, and I rarely apply blush on the go, so I would have preferred to see a smaller more slimline packaging and not have the brush included.
Like the blush, the Physicians Formula Argan Wear Bronzer comes in a similar, although slightly larger, gold plastic compact with a mirror and a little brush hidden in a compartment underneath the powder. It comes in two different shades, light bronze and bronze, which are both warm toned, and at this point, having a winter-pale skin, I have preferred the lighter shade finding it a better match for my skin. The bronzer is also very pigmented, so you have to be cautious or you will be applying too much –but I find that easier to control with one of my own softer powder brushes, than one of the included brushes. And as with the blush, as I rarely apply makeup on the go, I would again prefer to see a slightly smaller compact and do without the brush – which by the way I also find a little stiff, so sadly I also found that it did scratch up the pretty pattern on the bronzer rather quickly.
But a light sweep gives your skin a nice healthy glow that still looks natural without looking too orange, unlike other bronzers. It also gives the skin a nice subtle sheen (once you get rid of the golden glitter overspray on the top of the bronzer), that gives you kind of a lit-from-within glow. The powder is also quite soft and fine, so it blends easily and sits nicely on the skin without looking cakey, and doesn’t tend to settle into fine lines during the day.
Overall these Argan Wear products from Physicians Formula are all quite lovely, and they not only look beautiful in their packaging, they also feel lovely on the skin and as a god wear. All the products are reasonably priced, on par with other drugstore products and they have a very high quality. While all four products are lovely, the standout products for me were definitely the blush and the bronzer – they are both very pigmented and I wouldn’t hesitate purchasing these again!

Product Review: Physicians Formula Dark Spot Corrector & Skin Brightener
When I was younger I struggled with my skin constantly breaking out, and while it is luckily under control now and I only get the odd smaller breakout, it has left me with some darker marks from the past acne. And well, then moving to Australia over a decade ago, hasn’t been kind to my pale Scandinavian skin, and I am sadly seeing an increasing amount of pigmentation – and well, at over 33 weeks pregnant, I’m sure some of it is probably pregnancy related too. Anyway, here’s my thoughts on the *Physicians Formula Dark Spot Corrector & Skin Brightener;

What I Say:
A little while ago I reviewed the Physicians Formula Deep Wrinkle Corrector Day & Night Cream Formula Rx 121, if you've missed that review, you can see it here - so I was excited to also be trialling the Dark Spot Corrector & Skin Brightener.
Physicians Formula claims that the Dark Spot Corrector & Skin Brightener will make you look 6 years younger in 4 weeks!! I like the sound of that.
Physicians Formula claims that the effects are;
Instantly:
100% felt skin looked firmer, smoother & more radiant instantly & long-term.
100% felt skin looked brighter instantly, 89% saw less fine lines instantly, 85% felt under eye circles appeared less dark.
After 2 Weeks:
96% felt skin was more moisturised.
After 4 Weeks:
96% felt dark spots appeared less visible & skin tone was more even, 93% felt skin appeared lifted, and 71% saw less deep wrinkles.
That sounds like some pretty impressive claims, and well, as mentioned above, I do have not only increasing pigmentation, but sadly I’m also at the age where lines and wrinkles are slowly settling in, and bags under my eyes seems to be the norm. And well, being 33 weeks pregnant, and rarely getting a good night’s sleep, definitely doesn’t help either.
The key ingredients in the Dark Spot Corrector & Skin Brightener are;
- 4.0% Phytonutrient & Soy Isoflavone Complex, which claim to work on reducing the appearance of dark spots without affecting the surrounding skin.
- 2.0% Laminaria Algae Complex, said to improve skin's ability to recover from environmental damage.
- 2.0% Hydrolyzed Pea Peptide Blend, plant stem cells that create a nurturing environment for collagen.
- 2.0% Bellis Perennis Flower Extract, anti-oxidant that targets melanin for brighter, more even looking skin.
My first impression of the Dark Spot Corrector & Skin Brightener is that it looks like a very luxurious product. It comes in a robust white plastic bottle with purple writing and a sturdy silver pump. I always love it when moisturisers come in a pump bottle, as I simply find them so much easier to use.
The cream is to be used after cleansing morning and night, and as it does not contain any SPF, it is recommended to always follow with a moisturiser with SPF during the day.
The cream has a purple tint, and it has a slightly strange scent – almost like a bottle of red wine that has gone off!! Not particularly pleasant, but luckily this scent does fade once the cream has absorbed into the skin, although it does not seem to completely disappear.
The actual cream is a little thick and does take a few minutes to fully absorb into the skin, but then it does leave the skin feeling soft and smooth, and without leaving behind any greasy residue. It is quite concentrated so two small pumps is more than sufficient to cover my face and neck.
During the day, I use it under my usual moisturiser, and it seems to be the perfect foundation, as it doesn’t make any difference to the appearance or staying power of my makeup. At night, I use my usual night cream on top, - but I only do so as now heading towards winter I can already feel my otherwise combination skin getting a little drier, so I feel I need the extra moisture. In the summer part of the year when my skin seems a little greasier, I could easily imaging the cream being more than sufficient on its own at nighttime
And when I take my makeup off at night, my skin still feels soft and smooth, and so does it when I wake up in the morning. My skin does not feel greasy or congested, as it sadly often does when I use concentrated anti-ageing creams and serums, and I have not experienced any additional breakouts which is a great bonus too.
So what is my verdict after using the cream for over a month? Do I look 6 years younger? I wish!! As for my overall skin tone, I am not sure if the cream has had any effect. But my skin feels soft and moisturised, and does give the impression of being more plumbed, especially one larger expression line between my brows!!
At $29.95 for a 30ml bottle of anti-ageing cream, I find that this is a good value for a cream that is so concentrated that it will last you quite a while. And while I may not look 6 years younger, it does seem to have worked some magic on my skin, so I have no doubt that with continued use it will show even further results.

A little while ago I reviewed the Physicians Formula Deep Wrinkle Corrector Day & Night Cream Formula Rx 121, if you've missed that review, you can see it here - so I was excited to also be trialling the Dark Spot Corrector & Skin Brightener.
Physicians Formula claims that the Dark Spot Corrector & Skin Brightener will make you look 6 years younger in 4 weeks!! I like the sound of that.
Physicians Formula claims that the effects are;
Instantly:
100% felt skin looked firmer, smoother & more radiant instantly & long-term.
100% felt skin looked brighter instantly, 89% saw less fine lines instantly, 85% felt under eye circles appeared less dark.
After 2 Weeks:
96% felt skin was more moisturised.
After 4 Weeks:
96% felt dark spots appeared less visible & skin tone was more even, 93% felt skin appeared lifted, and 71% saw less deep wrinkles.
That sounds like some pretty impressive claims, and well, as mentioned above, I do have not only increasing pigmentation, but sadly I’m also at the age where lines and wrinkles are slowly settling in, and bags under my eyes seems to be the norm. And well, being 33 weeks pregnant, and rarely getting a good night’s sleep, definitely doesn’t help either.
The key ingredients in the Dark Spot Corrector & Skin Brightener are;
- 4.0% Phytonutrient & Soy Isoflavone Complex, which claim to work on reducing the appearance of dark spots without affecting the surrounding skin.
- 2.0% Laminaria Algae Complex, said to improve skin's ability to recover from environmental damage.
- 2.0% Hydrolyzed Pea Peptide Blend, plant stem cells that create a nurturing environment for collagen.
- 2.0% Bellis Perennis Flower Extract, anti-oxidant that targets melanin for brighter, more even looking skin.
My first impression of the Dark Spot Corrector & Skin Brightener is that it looks like a very luxurious product. It comes in a robust white plastic bottle with purple writing and a sturdy silver pump. I always love it when moisturisers come in a pump bottle, as I simply find them so much easier to use.
The cream is to be used after cleansing morning and night, and as it does not contain any SPF, it is recommended to always follow with a moisturiser with SPF during the day.
The cream has a purple tint, and it has a slightly strange scent – almost like a bottle of red wine that has gone off!! Not particularly pleasant, but luckily this scent does fade once the cream has absorbed into the skin, although it does not seem to completely disappear.
The actual cream is a little thick and does take a few minutes to fully absorb into the skin, but then it does leave the skin feeling soft and smooth, and without leaving behind any greasy residue. It is quite concentrated so two small pumps is more than sufficient to cover my face and neck.
During the day, I use it under my usual moisturiser, and it seems to be the perfect foundation, as it doesn’t make any difference to the appearance or staying power of my makeup. At night, I use my usual night cream on top, - but I only do so as now heading towards winter I can already feel my otherwise combination skin getting a little drier, so I feel I need the extra moisture. In the summer part of the year when my skin seems a little greasier, I could easily imaging the cream being more than sufficient on its own at nighttime
And when I take my makeup off at night, my skin still feels soft and smooth, and so does it when I wake up in the morning. My skin does not feel greasy or congested, as it sadly often does when I use concentrated anti-ageing creams and serums, and I have not experienced any additional breakouts which is a great bonus too.

Product Review: Physicians Formula Deep Wrinkle Corrector Day & Night Cream Formula Rx 121
Sadly having entered the age where anti-ageing products are
must-have item, I am forever in the search of products, which ideally can
reverse any ageing and damage already done to my skin, and prevent further
ageing. Here are my thoughts on the *Physicians
Formula Deep Wrinkle Corrector Day & Night Cream Formula Rx 121;
And as I have really liked all of these products, I did have high expectations as well for their skincare.

What I Say:
As I have
combination skin, which I have always struggled with breakouts, and still do,
even in spite of having hit the age, where the first signs of ageing is
starting to appear and you would think that teenage skin would be a thing of
the past, but that is sadly not the case with my skin. So consequently, each
time I try a new concentrated anti-ageing product, I am a little worried that
it will be too heavy and make my skin congested and breakout.
I have previously
used several of the Physicians Formula makeup items, including Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush, Cashmere Wear Ultra-Smoothing Bronzer, and the HappyBooster Glow & Mood Boosting Powder.
And as I have really liked all of these products, I did have high expectations as well for their skincare.
The Physicians Formula
Deep Wrinkle Corrector Day & Night Cream Formula Rx 121 is an anti-ageing
cream that makes some pretty big claims.
"Look 6 years
younger in 4 weeks"
Physicians Formula
claims that by using the cream;
Instantly: 100% felt skin looked firmer, smoother and more radiant
instantly and long-term 89% saw less fine lines instantly.
2 Weeks: 96% felt skin was more moisturised in 2 weeks, 89% saw an
improvement in their skin texture after 2 weeks.
4 Weeks: 93% felt skin appeared lifted in 4 weeks, 71% saw less deep
wrinkles in 4 weeks.
It also claims to "target
the visible effects of chronological ageing which occur over time and photo-ageing,
from sun and environmental damage. It helps to prevent and correct the most common
signs of skin ageing: the appearance of fine lines, deep wrinkles, dark spots
and hyperpigmentation and the loss of firmness and moisture".
Sounds too good to
be true, doesn’t it!!
The Deep Wrinkle Corrector Day & Night Cream contains among others;
5.0% Laminaria Algae Complex, which is to improve
skin's ability to recover from environmental damage.
2.7% Alpha Hydroxy Acid, to increase
cellular turnover for a resurfacing effect, helping skin appear firmer and more
refined.2.0% Hydrolyzed Pea Peptide Blend, a plant stem cells that create a nurturing environment for collagen.
The cream is also hypoallergenic, dermatologist approved, fragrance
free, as well as paraben free, for which I give it a few bonus points.
The actual cream is
intended to be used as both a day cream and a night cream – which I have to say
I really like the idea of – having a bathroom cabinet which is overflowing with
products, there is nothing better than multi-tasking products.
But sadly, it also
means that the cream does not contain any SPF, which I feel is a must these
days – at least in Australia, where the sun is so strong, and there is the
highest rate of skin cancer in the world!! But instead Physicians Formula
recommends following with a moisturiser with SP during the day.
Unfortunately I
quickly discovered that this cream is too heavy and concentrated for me to be
able to use during the day, and it also means that my makeup doesn’t last as
long before it starts to slide off. So the thought of having to add another
moisturiser with SPF on top, definitely doesn’t work for me.
So consequently I
have only been using the cream at night time – and consequently it has been
great that it has not contained any SPF, as I do have the suspicion that SPF
often contributes to make my skin break out!
The actual cream, which
has a lovely pale lavender colour, is thick and creamy, and it does take a
little while to absorb completely into the skin. But once it has, it leaves my
skin feeling soft, and thoroughly moisturised. And the next morning when I
wake, my skin feels soft and is looking healthy.
It is extremely
concentrated, so I only need to use the tiniest amount on my skin, so the jar
will last quite a while.
The cream comes in
a white stylish plastic jar with purple writing and a silver lid. As some of
you may have worked out by now, I do prefer creams that come in pump bottles,
as I simply find it easier and more hygienic than having to keep dipping my
fingers into a jar. But on the other hand, I think that this cream is simply
too thick to be able to be pushed out by a pump, so it would have been nice if
had at least come with a small spatula instead.
The moisturiser has
next to no scent, which I really like as it is such a nice change from other
products which always seems to be over-perfumed!
So how did the
cream perform after four weeks of use…
The cream is of
course intended to be used both morning and night for the four weeks, and as I
have only been using it at night time, I wasn’t quite expecting any major
results.
Nonetheless, I am
still impressed to say that I have noticed that few lines particularly on my
forehead (including a major expression line between my brows, thanks Mum, I
think I’ve inherited that one from you!!), have started to look softer in appearance.
In terms of dark
spots and hyperpigmentation, I have to admit that I have not noticed any major
improvement – but I should also add in that connection that I am currently
pregnant, and as a result I believe that I am experiencing a slight increase in
my pigmentation, an consequently I didn’t really expect the cream to give me
major results, it is after all fighting an uphill battle at the moment!
In terms of moisture,
my skin feels deeply and thoroughly moisturised, yet without feeling it is drowning
or getting congested – or breaking out – from the intense moisture. Rather it
has left my skin feeling and looking soft, healthy and glowing.
So all in I feel
that this is a great moisturise, and as it is so concentrated and a jar will
last you so long time (although you more than likely will slather it on a
little more liberally if you have dry skin), I do feel that $29.95 is good
value for money – also considering that I did see some minor reduction and
softening in my lines after using just once a day for the four weeks – So I can
only imagine the results it could deliver if used twice daily as recommended. Maybe
I’ll be so lucky that one day Physicians Formula will bring out a lighter
version with SPF more suitable for greasier skin types!
