PRODUCT REVIEW: BHAVE - FOR THE HEALTHIEST HAIR EVER

With any beauty products, it is very rare for me to say that certain products are my ultimate favourites, simply as there are so many great products out there - but one brand has managed to woo me again and again, and I can thereby safely say that it is my favourite, most trusted holy grail brand - the brand is bhave, so let's talk a little about their incredible products..

I have talked about bhave countless of times, yes, as a beauty blogger I am very fortunate to get to try a lot of different products, but once a trial period is completed, more often than not, do I return to my beloved bhave products. If you missed them, you easily find all my previous features and reviews of all their products via my product directory.

In case you’ve never heard bhave brand before, I can tell you that it is an Australian brand and all their products are free from parabens, sulphates and sodium chloride.
Let's start with the bhave Rescue Shampoo and Conditioner (you can see my full review here), which claims to be able to nurse traumatised hair back to good health with regular due to the products containing the functional keratin technology that has the unique ability to penetrate the hair shaft and repair damage, rebuilding each hair strand from the inside out. And as well as repairing and restoring existing damage, bhave also claims that regular use will form a protective shield around the hair strands providing it with around the clock defence against damage.

I have quite long and thick coloured hair, and when I use this combo, I can immediately tell the difference in both the feel and look of my hair. My hair simply looks and feels so much softer and shinier, and my otherwise dry and slightly damaged ends, seems to be less damaged, and consequently flyaways and frizz also seems to be tamed, so my hair overall looks healthier. These products are at the higher price end for shampoos and conditioners, but truly believe that they help keep my hair in better health, so I essentially can stretch my hair appointments as my hair is so well cared for.

Then there's the bhave Leave-In Creme (you can see my full review here), which a treatment to be used in damp hair after washing it. It contains among others macadamia nut, jojoba and argan oil to help soften, nourish and moisturise the hair, along with functional bioactive keratin and peptides to restore the hair's elasticity and protect the hair from breaking, while also helping to tame the hair and control frizzy and fly-away hair and give it thermal protection during heat styling. The Leave-In treatment is quite thick, and you only need a little, and you do have to be cautious not to use too much, so take it slow. But it leaves the hair seriously softer, smoother and stronger, and thereby healthier too. And in spite of the richness of this leave-in, it doesn't weigh down the hair (unless you use too much), but rather, actually gives my limp hair more volume. It has a lovely subtle coconut scent.

Next up is the bhave Riot Control Oil (see my full review here), which contains Certified organic Argan Oil that is jam-packed with antioxidants that help strengthen and nourish the hair. The light and non-greasy oil helps keep the hair soft, and it also helps smooth down frizz and flyaways, all while adding a beautiful healthy shine to the hair. It can be used in both wet hair before heat styling, as well as after for a glossy finish. I personally like to use it in my dry hair, after heat styling, and on the days where I am not washing my hair, to give my hair a moisture boost, and to help smooth down any frizz and give it some shine. Again, you'll need the smallest amount as it is so concentrated, and using too much will leave your hair looking greasy. It comes in a cool silver pump bottle that not only looks very luxe, but also is very easy to use.

Then there's the bhave Fresh Ends (see my full review here) is a leave-in cream that has been specifically designed for distressed and damaged ends. It is best used in dry hair, although if needed, it can also be used on towel-dried hair. Personally I like to use the Leave-In creme as above in my towel-dried hair, and once my hair is styled and dry, use this in the ends, as well as on the days where a not washing my hair. The formula contains raw natural keratin and slow releasing peptides as well as certified organic argan oil to that helps to continuously repair hair damage and strengthen the elasticity of the hair, and it leaves the hair silky soft and smooth. It also helps to control flyaway hairs, while treating split ends, all while making the hair look so healthy. The Fresh Ends comes in a nifty and easy to use push-top jar, that dispenses the treatment from the top, which I find super cool.

The bhave Super Nova Leave In Elixir (see my full review here), is one of the latest additions to the bhave range, and as the name suggests, it is a true 'super' hero as it is such a multi-tasking product. It helps treat a multitude of hair issues from detangling and adding moisture to the hair, fights frizz and smooths the hair, repairs and strengths brittle, damaged locks and split ends, thicken thinning hair and promote new growth, balance the scalp, protect the hair colour from fading due to UV rays, - and of course, leaves the hair looking soft, healthy and shiny.

The light treatment spray is to be used in towel dried hair, and gets all its super powers from among others sunflower seed oil, aloe vera and other fruit and flower extracts. It comes in a super stylish shiny silver bottle, and it smells amazing too. This is seriously super amazing!!

Finally, there's the newest product launch, the bhave Curl Defining Creme. My hair has always been super straight, to the point that I only ever straightened it to smooth down frizz, but since my last pregnancy, my hair has decided that it wants to go curly in the back, which looks rather odd seeing the front parts of my hair is still straight. While I have always liked my straight hair, I also remember wanting some more volume, and now that I have more, I am not enjoying it as especially on the days where I do not wash my hair, it is clearly looking drier and frizzier than ever before. Enter the bhave Curl Defining Creme. This treatment is best used in damp hair and it contains among others sunflower seed oil, murumuru seed butter and carnuba wax, to add extra moisture and seals it into the hair to define curls and help restore elasticity and smoothness, and reduce frizz while also developing new hair grown and prevent the hair from becoming dry and brittle. This treatment has made such a difference to my hair, making my hair so much more manageable especially on the days where I wash it, as it leaves my hair is even curlier as I can now 'tease' it up so much more. And on even on the days where I don't wash it, it is clearly 'retaining' the moisture, and using just a few pumps of Riot Control is now sufficient to banishing the frizz again and make it look shiny and healthy again.

So there you have it, some of my ultimate haircare products from bhave - these products are seriously amazing, and will without a doubt do wonders for your hair too, so do yourself the favour and try them out, you won't regret it. You can thank me later!!

PRODUCT REVIEW: TIGI COPYWRIGHT CUSTOM CARE REPAIR FOR HEALTHIER HAIR WITH LESS BREAKAGE

My hair has seriously suffered this summer. It is usually in a petty good condition, but for some reason, the summer sun has really taken its toll on my long, thick coloured hair, and has left it looking a tad dull and dry and frayed at the ends. But then I put some haircare products from Tigi Copyright Custom Care* to the test…

PRODUCT REVIEW: JOHN FRIEDA FRIZZ EASE

Today I'm going to talk about the newly formatted and designed products from the John Frieda Frizz Ease range..

The John Frieda Frizz Ease range has been designed to help combat frizz to make women create the hairstyle they desire from curly to wavy, sleek and straight. There are many different reasons why hair becomes frizzy, and causes can range from humidity, rain, heat styling and hair colouring, but the John Frieda have thought about it all, with specific products for every concern, and today I'm going to talk about some of these products..

The John Frieda Frizz Ease® Miraculous Recovery® Shampoo and Conditioner have targeted Anti-Damage Technology that helps moisture and nourish the hair while repairing split ends and surface damage, in fact, it promises to reverse 75% of the surface damage on your hair, while also building a resilience to frizz over time for hair that is 3x smoother. The products have a gorgeous subtle warm fragrance that just gorgeous. These products are perfect for coloured hair such as mine, which always send to get a little frizzier during the winter months. However, since using this duo, I have noticed that my hair is not only feeling silky soft and smooth, I have definitely also seen a definite reduction in the amount of frizz that I get.

Then there's the John Frieda Frizz Ease® Extra Strength 6 Effects™ + Serum, which is a hair treatment that has the highest concentration of frizz fighters in the Frizz Ease range. It is enriched with silk proteins to fight frizz by blocking out humidity, tame and smooth coarse unmanageable hair, as well as work as a defence to weather and thermal protectant while heat styling for all hair types. Oh, and it hydrates dry ends to!. The serum is quite light and non greasy, but also very concentrated, so you only need to use a little ( I need two pumps in my long thick hair), but go slow, as if you use too much, your hair will end up greasy. It is best used in wet hair. It comes in a convenient pump bottle with a unique inner core, which does make it quite cool, but also bigger than it really is.

John Frieda Frizz Ease® Secret Weapon Finishing Creme is intended to be applied to dry hair, and immediately transform dry and parched hair into smooth, supple and shiny hair. The treatment creme helps replace natural oils lost due to blow-drying and daily stress, tear and wear of the hair, and it helps smooth dullness and split ends too. And as it also adds moisture to the hair thanks to the added avocado oil, and it leaves the hair looking glossy, it also immediately looks so much nicer and healthier too. I love the scent of this treatment, and that I can use it on the days I don't wash my hair to freshen up my hair. It is very concentrated so you only need a little, yet it is also super light, and non-greasy too, so it won't leave your hair looking greasy or weigh it down.

Finally, there's the John Frieda Frizz Ease® Dream Curls Styling Form. And let me start by saying that I normally have fairly straight long hair, although it for some reason, after my second pregnancy, has started going a little curly in the back, while the rest of my hair remains straight. At the moment, it is still more straight than curly (or guess I should call it curvy), but I have been experimenting a little with this styling foam that promises to help enhance and create soft touchable waves that look natural, and I really like the look of what it does to my hair, just very unfortunate that the front part of my hair remains straight! To encourage some waves in that part of the hair too, I have been trying to apply the foam at night, before putting my hair into a plait (which I always do at night as it is so long), and when I wake in the morning, it really looks great, with natural waves, that look healthy and shiny! I'll continue to experiment with this styling foam in my confused hair, but if you've got wavy or curly hair, you should check this one out. It smells absolutely amazing too!

John Frieda Frizz Ease® Miraculous Recovery® Shampoo - RRP: $15.99 / 250ml
John Frieda Frizz Ease® Miraculous Recovery® Conditioner - RRP: $15.99 / 250ml
John Frieda Frizz Ease® Extra Strength 6 Effects™ + Serum - RRP: $16.99 / 50ml
John Frieda Frizz Ease® Secret Weapon Finishing Creme - RRP: $16.99 / 113ml
John Frieda Frizz Ease® Dream Curls Styling Foam - RRP: $16.99 / 147ml

PRODUCT REVIEW: BHAVE SUPER NOVA LEAVE IN ELIXIR

I'm really excited about today's feature - simply because it is about bhave - my favourite hair care brand's newest launch, the Super Nova Leave In Elixir.

If you're not familiar with bhave, do yourself a favour and get acquainted, you and your hair won't be disappointed.

bhave is an Australian salon hair care brand free from harmful chemical including parabens, sulphates, sodium chloride, and of course they have not been tested on animals either.

As a beauty blogger I naturally get to try my fair share of products and brands, and yes, there are some great ones out here, but my hair is always at its healthiest, shiniest and best b-havior, when I use my trusted bhave products. In case you've missed all my reviews of all the bhave products, you can easily find them in my product directory.

Now onto the bhave Super Nova Leave In Elixir treatment which contains among a long list of natural fruit and vegetable extracts including others;

  • Apple extract, fennel and vegetable protein to help slow down the process of split ends
  • Aloe Vera and citrus fruit extract to help fight frizz, soothe and smooth down the hair
  • Sunflower seed oil to help nourish and restore damaged hair
  • Grape seed extract to help protect the hair from UV damage
  • Rosemary leaf extract to help strengthen brittle hair
  • Apple and rosemary extract to help promote hair growth
  • Orange fruit extract and fennel to help thicken and strengthen the hair
  • Fennel, calendula, rosemary, and apple extracts to help soothe and balance the scalp thanks to anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial actions
  • Chamomile extract, sunflower oil and calendula extract to add shine

So, as you can read above, the Super Nova truly is an incredible multi-tasker that also helps treat, nurture and repair damaged hair, all while also adding moisture and help detangle the hair.

The Super Nova Leave In Elixir has the most beautiful orange-citrusy scent, and it is to be used in just washed, towel dried hair, by spritzing a tiny amount from roots to the tip of the ends, and as it is so concentrated, it only takes a little. Hereafter you can style your hair as usual.

Most days I leave my hair to dry naturally, and after using the Super Nova I can really tell that my hair is not only so much easier to manage as flyaways are controlled, split ends are treated, and my hair is simply given a boost of hydration, which makes it look and feel so much smoother and softer, and looking so much healthier too with a nice glossy shine.

I am yet to see if is actually making my hair stronger, or grow faster - but regardless, I love the immediate effect that it has on my hair, making it look so healthy and shiny, and all without making it feel greasy or weighing it down.

It comes in a super stylish silver pump bottle (although the shiny finish does make it difficult for an amateur photographer!), and  I'm so in love with this elixir, absolutely incredible - but then again, I wouldn't have expected anything less from bhave, so do yourself a favour and give this one a try!

bhave Super Nova Leave In Elixir - RRP: $41.95 / 120ml

Available from bhave and selected hair salons and Alive Skin & Hair

PRODUCT REVIEW: ARBONNE PURE VIBRANCE COLORLAST SERUM AND HAIR SPRAY

You may know that I am quite the fan of Arbonne. Over the years I've had the pleasure of trying out quite an array of different products from their ranges (you can find links to all via my product directory), but today it is the first time I put some of their hair care products to the test. Here I've been trying the Arbonne Pure Vibrance ColorLast Hair Serum and Hair Spray.

These products were sent to me by the lovely Natalie Xylas, an independent Arbonne Consultant (see below for her contact details) very long time ago - but then before I knew it, my little boy ended up in hospital for almost five months, - and the day he came home from we moved into our new house. Talk about chaos. And with me being at the hospital all the time with our little boy, also meant that my husband had been packing all the boxes, and I had no idea where to find anything. And for months after our little boy came home from hospital, life was still so hectic, getting settled into our new house, taking our boy to the hospital 3+ times a week for checkup, and spending some much needed time with our then 2.5 year old that I had spent way too little time with during the months in hospital. Needless to say that blogging was not priority, and it has taken me months to catch up.. But I'm now almost there!

Anyway, enough babbling, let's start talking about the Arbonne Pure Vibrance ColorLast Hair Serum. I have long thick hair which I was every few days, and I rely on hair serums to help keep my hair looking good. This serum has a built-in colour fade technology to protect your hair colour from fading, at the same time as it helps control frizz, protect from heat styling damage and adds shine to the hair.

The Hair Serum comes in a convenient pump bottle and just a few small pumps is sufficient for my long hair. The serum is very light for an oil, and it absorbs into the hair immediately, leaving it incredibly soft and shiny. It also makes my dry ends look healthier and controls frizz and those annoying flyaways too.

The serum contains among others argan oil, orange and mandarin peel oil and lavender oil to add extra moisture to the hair, abyssinian oil to condition, add shine and prevent hair breakage. It also contains rice extract to help protect and enhance hair colour
while providing protection against hair breakage and add strength to hair, while Hawaiian white ginger root repairs and strengthens damaged hair and Horsetail extract helps fortify hair and prevents hair breakage.

This hair serum is so beautiful and I love how it makes my hair look and feel, and I love that it can be used in both wet and dry hair. And as an added bonus it also has the divine floral fragrance that luckily keeps lingering in my hair for long after I've applied it.

Then there's the Arbonne Pure Vibrance ColorLast Hair Spray, which is a non-flaky, alcohol free hair spray that can create tousled, touchable soft hair, with a lasting flexible hold. It also contains the ColorLast technology to protect colour treated hair, keeping it looking vibrant.

The Hair Spray contains among others panthenol to add moisture to the hair and keep hair from breaking, linseed extract to preserve hair colour
and vicia faba seed extract to promote fuller looking hair. It also contains artichoke leaf extract to protect the integrity of the hair and promote shine, and like the serum, it also contains rice extract, orange and mandarin peel oil, Hawaiian white ginger and horsetail extract to protect hair colour and prevents hair breakage, repair, strengthen hair and fortify the hair.

I like that this hair spray, unlike most other hair sprays, come in an aerosol can. And as promised, it really does give my hair hold and keeps those flyaways controlled too, while not making my hair feel stiff - it is simply soft and flexible - and it still lasts all day. Like the serum, the hair spray, also smells amazing, although the fragrance unfortunately is not quite as strong as the serum.

Both products come in beautiful purple bottles, that are ever so girlie and look stunning in the bathroom too.

So there you go, - my first time trying Arbonne haircare products, and needless to say that I am not disappointed, Arbonne really doesn't fail to impress me - I love these products, and will be so sad the day I finish these products.

LEAVE-IN HAIR TREATMENTS FOR EVERY TASTE AND BUDGET

Today I'd like to chat a little about leave-in hair treatments. Having very long hair, I am all too used to the dry and split ends, in spite of getting regular hair cuts, and using good haircare products. One of those haircare products I can never be without, is leave-in treatments, as although I always use good conditioners when I wash my hair and also frequently use intensive masks, I feel that my hair needs that little bit of extra moisture that a leave-in treatment can give.

Here I have looked into four different products which come at different price points..

Starting with the cheapest, there's Pantene Pro-V Ultimate 10 BB Crème, which as the name suggests boasts a massive 10 benefits for the hair, including moisturising, smoothing, detangling and defrizzing, protecting the hair from heat damage and against breakage, all while making it . The leaving it soft and manageable. It comes in a convenient pump bottle, and has the consistency like a thick serum, rather than the thicker cream of many leave-ins, and it quickly and easily absorbs into the hair, leaving it soft and without any greasiness. It also leaves behind the usual nice 'Pantene scent' that you're more than likely familiar with too. This is a great budget option, and I love that it multi-tasking product.

Next is the Nfuzion Protein Treatment Spray, which contains Wheat Proteins to smooth out the cuticle and strengthen and rebuild damaged hair and add shine. But that's not all, as it also helps detangle the hair, locking in moisture, protect the hair from the sun's UV rays as well as from damage from heat styling. The Treatment Spray is a very thin liquid that you spray onto either wet or dry hair, but as it does leave the hair wet, I personally prefer to use it in wet hair only and before hair combing it to make it easier to comb out before hair drying it, and once dry, it does leave the hair nice and quite soft, clearly adding moisture to the hair without weighing it down, and frizz seemingly minimised. It has a lovely gentle fruity floral scent that unfortunately does face once the hair is dry.

Then there's the Kevin Murphy Un.Tangled Leave In Conditioner, which is a detangling, strengthening and restorative hair treatment that also protects the hair while heat styling. It contains a complex of nourishing Australian Fruit extracts add and retain moisture in the hair. This is also a wet spray, but it is also recommended to use in wet hair after washing it, and before coming it, to help detangle any knots. It has a rather unique and natural scent, no doubt from the fruit extract, and it is kind of spicy floral, and it is very unlike most other products, which is also why I like it, so I also like that this scent lingers in my hair after it is dry. I could imagine that some wouldn't like this scent, but the results you can't fault as it really does make detangling the hair quick and easy, and it leaves the hair feeling soft and smooth.

Finally there's the Pureology Pure Volume Style Infusion Hair Care, which has been designed for fine to medium-thick hair to give fullness and body to the hair, all while adding moisture and caring for colour-treated hair, protecting the against heat damage, smoothing the hair and controlling frizz for a massive 72-hours. It contains among others wheat protein to build volume, and intra-cyclane to strengthen and body the hair as well as xylose sugar to insulate the cuticle layer to protect against heat damage. It also contains camellia oil which gives it the most beautiful fresh floral scent that lingers in the hair for a while.

It is a little unique in that it contains two different formulas, in a cleverly designed tube, which has an inner tube with one of the formula. To use, you simply squeeze in the middle of the tube to ensure that some of each of the formulas are dispensed, before mixing it in your hand and applying it to damp hair before blow-drying. And after drying your hair, it still smells beautiful, and my hair is left looking and feeling so healthy and shiny, and it is so soft and smooth and without a single frizzy hair in sight.

So there you go, four different leave-in hair treatments at different, with different benefits and at different price points.

Pantene Pro-V Ultimate 10 BB Crème is a 10-in-1 - RRP: $10.95 / 135ml
Nfuzion Protein Treatment Spray - RRP: $18.95 / 250ml
Kevin Murphy Un.Tangled Leave In Conditioner - RRP: $38.95 / 150ml
Pureology Pure Volume Style Infusion Hair Care - RRP: $51.95 / 150ml

PRODUCT REVIEW: PURE HAIR FOOD FEED YOUR HAIR SMOOTHING SERUM TREATMENT OIL

I have long and thick hair, and with a baby grasping for anything and everything he can get his hands on, including my hair, my hair is mostly tied up in either a plat or bun these days! And consequently I don't really use that many hair styling products, as I simply don't find there's any point! But one product that I use every day is a hair serum, and one that I've been loving lately is the Feed Your Hair Smoothing Serum Treatment Oil from Pure Hair Food.

Pure Hair Food has the philosophy that their products need to be as pure as possible, and hence they are free from chemical nasties including sulphates, parabens and sodium chloride, and of course, they have not been tested on animals. And what I also really like is that the products are Australian owned and made from as many locally sourced ingredients as possible.

The Feed Your Hair Smoothing Serum Treatment Oil is a serum that comes in a brown plastic bottle that has a bit of an old-school medicinal look to it, and it convenient pump and a simplistic yet stylish label, all of which I really like. It contains among others Moroccan Argan oil and macadamia oil to help smooth down the hair and any frizz. But just as importantly, it contains natural antioxidants that helps reverse damage to the hair caused by chemical treatments and heat styling, so it helps treat those split ends and prevent them from getting worse (although I'm sure we all know that the only way to get rid of split ends is to have the hair trimmed frequently!), and it does so while it also hydrates and restores the hair, and adding shine too to make your hair look shiny and healthy.

The serum can be use in both wet and dry hair, but a word of warning, the serum is very concentrated so you only have to use the smallest amount, and keep away from the scalp too, or you will end up with greasy hair - so just a small pump is more than sufficient for my long thick hair.

Overall, I am really enjoying this Smoothing Treatment Oil from Pure Hair Food, and certainly wouldn't hesitate purchasing it again or trying other products from their large product range.

Feed Your Hair Smoothing Serum Treatment Oil – RRP $28.90 / 100ml

PRODUCT REVIEW: BHAVE TRAVEL IN STYLE + GIVEAWAY

Continuing the Xmas gift ideas here are one of my absolute favourite ones for the hair, The Travel in Style Travel pack from bhave. And if you’re regularly checking in at the Beauty and Lifestyle Hunter, you should be more than aware that I’ve got a deep found love for the products from bhave, which are without a doubt the hair products which have made the biggest difference to the health of my hair.

The Travel In Style Kit contains the Rescue Shampoo and Conditioner (100ml each), and enriched with Replicine Functional Keratin, they help restore strength, shine, elasticity and shine to hair that has been damaged by chemical treatments and ongoing hair styling. And make to keep reading because you've got a chance to win a set of these goodies too!

The kit also contains the Rescue Riot Control Oil (15ml), which is a hair oil that contains certified organic Moroccan Oil and antioxidants to strengthen and nourish the hair while taming fly-aways and frizz and adding shine, all without leaving a heavy residue or the hair looking greasy. This stuff is pure magic!

It also contains the Deep Intense Conditioning Masque (35g), which is a thick masque that repairs and rebuilds hair that has been damaged from chemical treatments, heated appliances and over exposure to sun, chlorine and salt water from the inside out. It needs to be left in the hair for 5-10 before rinsing it out, but it is worth it as the hair is left so incredibly soft and healthy looking afterwards.

Finally, the kit also contains the Leave-In Crème (35g), which as the name suggests is a treatment that you do not need to rinse out. It is chock full of nutrients as well as raw natural keratin to repair, strengthen and nourish dry, damaged hair, and also protect the hair from daily damage from the sun!

The products come packaged in a stylish mesh toilet bag, that is not just perfect for your bhave products, but which can of course also be used afterwards for makeup etc.

The bhave Travel In Style Kit is a limited edition kit in the lead up to Xmas, and as it is fantastic value selling at RRP$51.95 (Valued At $69.99), you better hurry if you want to get your hands on one! Available from selected hair salons.

PRODUCT REVIEW: JOHN FRIEDA FRIZZ-EASE HAIR THERMAL PROTECTION FORMULA SERUM

I always do my best to look after my long hair, getting it trimmed regularly, and trying hard to remember giving it a frequent treatment. But even so, I still struggle with frizz, which is only made worse by the very hot and humid weather we’ve had here in Melbourne recently. So I happily accepted when I was asked to trial the *John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Thermal Protection Formula Serum, here are my thoughts;

What They Say:

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum Thermal Protection Formula protects against damage and colour fading caused by heat-styling and UV exposure. Suitable for all types of hair and inspired by John Frieda salon experts, this exceptional hair serum instantly shields all hair types against the damaging effects of heat styling and UV exposure that lead to frizz. Daily use smoothes, shines and prolongs colour. Use on towel-dried hair, can also be used on dry hair.

RRP: $16.99 (50ml) – Available from Priceline, supermarkets, and selected pharmacies

What I Say:
The John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Thermal Protection Formula Serum not only helps to reduce frizz and leave your hair shiny and silky, it is also designed to protects your hair from heat damage during heat styling as well as minimise colour fading.

The serum comes in a small clear pump bottle, which makes it very easy to use. And don’t be fooled by the small bottle, this stuff is seriously concentrated. If you use too much, or get it too closer to the roots, it will make your hair look so greasy. But that is of course only a good thing as it will make the bottle last so much longer.

Always one for multi-tasking products, I like that this serum can be used in both wet and dry hair. In wet hair, it can be used prior to drying the hair or straightening, to protect from heat damage, and in dry hair, it works brilliantly to smooth down the hair, and minimise any frizz, and not to mention give the hair an amazing shine, which all in all makes the hair look so healthy.

And I love that when it is used as a heat protectant when I heat style my hair, with this serum, I don’t also have to follow with a frizz serum, so talk about multi-tasking. And I generally wash my hair every second day, and on those days, the serum works a treat to freshen up my dry hair, and making it look as if it has been just washed.  And it does all of this without weighing my hair down.

I have very long (at least two inches below my bra strap, and that’s even after getting over two inches cut off just prior to Christmas!) and it is very thick too (even in spite of having gone through months of losing countless hairs daily after giving birth), yet just two tiny pumps is all that is required for my hair.

I simply rub the serum between my hands and distribute throughout my hair, again avoiding the roots, and concentrating on the ends of my hair. Rub hands together and distribute evenly throughout hair.

What I Like:
  • A true multi-tasking product that can be used in wet and dry hair, as a heat protectant and to smooth out frizz and give shine to the hair
  • Very concentrated, so the small bottle will last forever
  • Comes in a small pump bottle that is easy to use

What I Don’t Like:
  • It does contain silicones, which I would prefer if it didn’t, but so far I have not noticed that it is building up in my hair, or weighing it down.

All in all this Frizz-Ease Hair Thermal Protection Formula Serum from John Frieda is a fantastic product, which does exactly what it claims to do, so if you are looking for a multi-tasking product to both protect your hair and combat frizz, then I highly recommend that you try it.

Have you ever tried any of the products from John Frieda? Do you use heat protectant products in your hair? Or what about Frizz serums? Any recommendations?

Product Review: Hairhouse Warehouse Savvy Nourishment Collection Box

I am very fond of my long hair, and spend a lot of time and money maintaining its health. Using the right products makes all the difference - and in Hairhouse Warehouse they stock a lot of my favourite haircare brands. A few weeks ago they kindly sent me the *Savvy Nourishment Collection, and here are my thoughts;

What They Say:
This Savvy Nourishment Collection contains the following:
  • Alfaparf Milano Semi di Lino Diamond Shampoo, 250mL
  • Alfaparf Milano Semi di Lino Conditioner, 250mL
  • Alfaparf Milano Semi di Lino Illuminating Cristali Liquid, 16mL
  • Alfaparf Milano Illuminating Hairspray, 300mL
  • Gem Travel Hair Dryer
  • Shower Comb
  • $20 Salon Voucher

RRP: $29.95 (but valued at $145.85) – Available from Hairhouse Warehouse

What I Say:
This box costs $29.95, but the contents is valued at $145.85, which is amazing value. Even just getting the shampoo and conditioner for that price is a good buy, and in top you get all the other goodies too!!!

So let me tell you what’s in the box:

Alfaparf Milano Semi di Lino Diamond Shampoo and Alfaparf Milano Semi di Lino Conditioner

I have long wanted to try the Alfaparf Milano products, so this couldn’t have been better timing. And the products are just great! The shampoo lathers up easily and leaves the hair so soft, even before I add conditioner. And after I use the conditioner my hair just feels so silky soft and smooth. It is so easy to comb, and once dry, it is so shiny and healthy looking. I will definitely be buying these products again.

Alfaparf Milano Semi di Lino Illuminating Cristali Liquid

This Illuminating Cristali Liquid again comes at a perfect time, as the small size is just perfect to take with on our beach holiday. The liquid contains linseed extract to give the hair strength and shine and protect it from thermal treatment, while it leaves the hair silky soft and so incredibly shiny – and consequently so healthy too. And it can be used in both wet and dry hair. I love it!!

Alfaparf Milano Illuminating Hairspray

The inclusion of this Illuminating Hairspray couldn’t have come at a better time as I am just about to run out of my current one. With long hair, I don’t use hairspray to keep a crazy hairstyle in place, as my hair is simply too long and heavy for that, but it is good for keeping those annoying flyaways around the face under control, including when I have my hair in a pony. And I love that it leaves the hair with a such a nice healthy shine, yet without making the hair feel stiff or tacky.

Gem Travel Hair Dryer

I do have a rather large hair dryer, but have to be honest and admit that I rarely use it, as currently being a stay-at-home mum I mostly just let my hair dry naturally. But then each time I go away – without a hair dryer, I always end up wishing that I’d had one with me – and as we are just about to go on a kind of forced holiday, where we’ll be staying in a beach house for almost three weeks before moving into our new house, this small travel hair dryer will be perfect to bring along.

Shower Comb

Everyone keeps telling me that I should comb my hair in the shower while I’ve got conditioner or treatment in it – but as I have quite long and thick hair it just takes me too long to do in the shower as I am usually in such a hurry showering just before my husband has to leave to go to work in the mornings. So I am not sure I will get much use from this one, just you just never know…

$20 Salon Voucher

This voucher entitles you to get $20 off any salon service of $100.00 or more. But as I already have a very good hairdresser that I’ve been seeing for over a decade, I am not likely to be using this voucher, so I might pass it on to a friend.

All in all, I really think this box is amazing, it is well worth the price, and the products included are fantastic too, so I think it is well worth getting one – or several each time Hairhouse Warehouse brings these type of boxes out. The only things in the box I wont be using is the comb and the voucher, but in turn I've been introduced to a new brand, that I will definitely be back to Hairhouse Warehouse to repurchase once I've finished up these products.

And the good thing is that the boxes vary each time and there are always several different ones to choose from so you always find one with paroduct to suit your hair. I already look forward to the next box Hairhouse Warehouse brings out!

What do you think of this Nourishment Collection Box? Have you tried any of these products? And have you ever bought one of these boxes?

Product Review: Lust Have It – January 2014 Box

Yet again time for another beauty box review, this time of the Lust Have It  January 2014 Box. Yep, it is the January box, which rolled up on my doorstep on the 10th of February – some two weeks later than usual….not really sure why it is late, and it is almost a February box –  regardless, as I have been sent this box for consideration, I really have no complaints. And moving house, and living in a holiday house for a few weeks until we could move into our new house, and consequently meant no permanent internet connection, hopefully explains why I am posting about this box so late…  Anyway, here are my thoughts on the Lust Have It – January 2014 Box;

What They Say:

Lust Have It boxes regularly contains products worth $60+ for only $19.95/month! Monthly box filled with 5 to 6 premium beauty samples. Delivered to your home or work each month for you to try.

RRP:
Lust Have It Box (monthly) RRP: $19.95, Eco Box (quarterly) RRP: $29.95 – but if you use my unique code LIFESTYLE at the checkout on the Lush Have It website, you are eligible for $5 off your first box from Lust Have It, and at the same time you’ll also be supporting Beauty & Lifestyle Hunter, as I will get a few dollars too if someone subscribes using this code.

Available from Lust Have It

What I Say:

Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear SPF30+ - Full Size (RRP $14.95/20ml)

This is a sunscreen and tinted day cream in one, and I really like this one – I first tried it last month, when the January Issue of Marie Claire came with a sample tube of it, and I instantly liked it, and have been considering buying a tube, so getting one in the box is just a bonus! It has a sheer coverage, and like most other sunscreens it doesn’t stay put on my skin all day, but a quick dusting of powder mid-day solves that. I got the colour Medium, which is a little dark, and I would have preferred the Light colour, but seeing its summer and I do have a bit of a summer tan, I think I can just get away with it!

Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 8% AHA Gel – Sample Size 30ml – (RRP $45.80/118ml)

I love the inclusion of this gel. Firstly, I’ve never tried Paula’s Choice, so I am excited to finally be able to. Secondly, this gel promises to exfoliate the skin’s surface to fade signs of sun damage – just what my skin needs – so I really can’t wait to test this one out. And it is a generous 30ml sample, so I should be able to get a fair idea of how the gel works.

The box also included a coupon for free freight of your next order from Paul’s Choice, and with no minimum spend required, so that is a good offer.

Simple Kind to Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes – Sample Size, 7 wipes (RRP $6.99/25 wipes)

I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I am not a regular user of facial wipes, and predominantly use them when I go overseas as I find them handy to have in my hand luggage, but with a baby, I don’t plan to go anywhere anytime soon, so the inclusion of these unfortunately does not excite me. In saying that, I may find use for them as hand wipes in my nappy bag ;-) Alternatively, they always come in handy next to my computer when I am swatching makeup for blogging purposes.

Model Co Shine Ultra Lip Gloss – Full Size (RRP $18/4ml)

I don’t mind this lipgloss, it is moisturising, and has next to no colour, just leaving a nice gloss to the lips, or on top of a lipstick, - however, I already have a few of these in my stash of lipglosses. I am certain that the exact same colour lipgloss was in another beauty box only recently, but I cannot for the life of me remember which one! So while it adds great value to the box, unfortunately this one doesn’t excite me this time around! I could only wish that ModelCo would have included a different type of product from their range.

Aveda Dry Remedy Daily Moisturising Oil – Sample Size, 3ml (RRP $25/40ml)

This oil is to increase the hairs moisture levels by 41% without weighing it down or making it look greasy, and I love that it has been formulated without silicones, so there is no build up in the hair. I love the inclusion of this one as my hair is always a little dry this time of year when it is so hot, but I only wish that the sample had been a little bigger, as with my very long and thick hair, there is hardly sufficient product for one use.

The box also included a coupon with the offer of free shipping and a free Dry Remedy sample trio, with shampoo, conditioner and masque  (10ml each) when you purchase a Dry Remedy Daily Moisturising Oil from Aveda.

Evodia Lemon Sorbet Hand Cream – Full Size (RRP $17.95/100ml)

I love citrus scented products, so I love love love that this hand cream is included. And even though I already have more hand creams on the go than I should, and had made a promise not to open another one until I’d finished up a couple, I just couldn’t resist, I just had to try it and smell it, and simply smells divine. And as promised, the hand cream which contains vitamin E, shea butter, macadamia oil, jojoba oil, cocoa butter, olive oil and Kakadu plum, leaves the hands feeling soft without leaving them feeling greasy. And this is also the first product I’ve ever tried from Evodia, and I love it, so I will definitely be checking out the rest of their product range.

Finally, the box also included a card with a teaser for the February Box…. It will include a deluxe sample of Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel….. Whoa…..I am excited about that one. I have long had it on my wish list to try out this peel from Juice Beauty, so I can’t wait for this one….

Overall, I think this box is still a good box, as I love the inclusions of the Evodia Hand Cream, the Paula’ Choice Gel and the Invisible Zinc Tinted moisturiser – and consequently, for me, the box is well worth its price. The Aveda Oil, the facial wipes are good additions, and although I am not too excited about receiving yet another ModelCo lipgloss, I am sure I can find it a new home where it will be well appreciated.
