PRODUCT REVIEW: PARLUX ADVANCE LIGHT IONIC AND CERAMIC HAIR DRYER
I have very long and thick hair, and once upon a time, pre-kids, I always used to hair dry my hair before going to work in the mornings - but today, now that I am home with two toddler boys, I often do not have the time to spend forever drying my hair, so I often leave it to dry naturally, which has clearly benefitted the state of my hair, though I personally do prefer the look and feel of it when its been hair dried.
Parlux is also known as the hair dryer used by the professionals in hair salons around the world, and now I understand why, as this Italian made hair dryer, really is incredible. It not only looks amazing, but its design means that it is easy to hold, even for a small female hand, plus it is also so light and easy to hold, and it makes drying and styling my long hair so much easier, thanks to its power and speed. And the fact that it dries the hair so much faster, also means that my hair is exposed to the heat for a shorter period of time, so I am not only saving time, it is also better for the hair. In addition, the ceramic and ionic technology helps infuse the hair with ions and consequently moisture, to ensure it stays silky smooth and free from frizz.
However, using the right tools, will not only help cut down the time it takes to dry your hair, it will also help protect your hair during styling. And lately, I've been enjoying the new Parlux Advance Light Ceramic and Ionic Hair Dryer, which now comes in some cool new colours including fluorescent orange and vibrant green, which are seriously stunning, and such a refreshing change from your usual black hair stylers. I tried the fluorescent orange, or 'council-worker orange' as someone referred it as - and it is seriously such a fun and bright shade.
The Parlux Advance Light Ionic and Ceramic Hair Dryer is very powerful with its massive 2200W, and hence helps speed up drying time, but it also have heaps more professional features, including;
- Extremely lightweight, weighing just 460g
- Ionic and ceramic technology, for healthier and static free hair
- 2200 watts
- 83 cubic metres/hours airflow reducing drying time while preserving the integrity of hair
- 220 - 240 Volt
- K-Advance Motor giving it a longer life span of 2500 hours
- 4 temperatures/2 speeds: ideal for all hair types and textures
- Instant cold shot button
- 2 concentrator nozzles (the first for setting hair and the second for fast drying)
- Anti-heating front body
- 2 year warranty

Compared to other hair dryers that I've used in the past, the Parlux is also a lot quieter, which is fantastic when I want to dry my hair when my two little boys are napping. I have previously heard of Parlux, but know I really understand all the hype, as it is seriously the best hair dryer that I've ever used. And if the neon-orange colour is not quite for you, don't fret, as Parlux has heaps of other cool colours, including among others white, grey, black, green, pink, purple and red.

PRODUCT REVIEW: REMINGTON SALON PRO SILK CERAMIC HAIR DRYER
Back in the day where I got up early every morning to go to my very corporate job, I always used to hair dryer after washing my hair but these days, being at home with our two little boys, I admit to often leaving it to dry naturally. My long thick hair is naturally thanking me for this, generally a lot healthier, but the main reason I am not doing it, unless I'm going out, is that with two little toddlers running around my legs, it simply takes way to long time. But then the Remington Salon Pro Silk Ceramic Hair Dryer landed on my desk…
The Remington Salon Pro Silk Ceramic Hair Dryer is a pretty powerful one, featuring a massive 2400W for a powerful professional performance, but I also has a myriad of other features, including;
- 2400W Powerful AC Dryer
- 140km/h fast airflow speed for quicker drying
- Silk ceramic technology that provides even heat distribution for a silky smooth finish
- Conditioning ionic technology
- Turbo boost function to increase airflow by 10%
- True cool shot to finish an set your style
- 90% more ions for a frizz free shine
- 3 heat and 2 speed settings
- Includes two concentrator nozzles and a 'curling' diffuser for control airflow and styling
- Hang loop
- Removable filter for easy cleaning
- 5 year warranty
This hair dryer comes in a gorgeous red shade, which is such a refreshing change from the usual black hair dryers that have dominated the market for the past many years. I also really like that it is so powerful, as it really does dramatically cut down the time it takes to dry my thick long hair. I also love that it has several heat settings so I can tailor it to my needs, and also finish off with a blast of cool air at the end to cool down the hair follicles and set my hair style. The two different concentrator nozzles, in different sizes as well as the 'curling' diffuser, are great inclusions too for specific styling, and lately I've been particularly loving the 'curling' diffuser, where I first spray my hair with a little saltwater texture spray, before drying it for natural beachy waves.
And the fact that it has both silk ceramic technology and a conditioning ionic technology, combined means that my hair is infused with hydration and moisture for a more healthy and shiny looking hair free from frizz.
Considering the quality and how powerful this stylish hairdryer from Remington is, this is a really reasonably priced, and would make for a great Christmas present too.

PRODUCT REVIEW: VS SASSOON WET AND DRY STRAIGHTENING BRUSH
Today I'd like to talk about a new launch from VS Sassoon, the Wet & Dry Straightening Brush... Everyone loves a good multi-tasking products, especially if you like me have two little ones running around your feet all the time, so its exciting to hear that VS Sassoon claims that this is a 3 in 1 product, being both a hair dryer and a straightener at the same time as it volumises the hair, in one easy movement!
According to VS Sassoon, the Wet & Dry Straightening Brush is "the simplest styling tool for your busy lifestyle. It will straighten, volumise and dry your hair in minutes. It can tackle the trickiest of manes, no problem. And, with its ionic conditioning technology and advanced ceramic plates, it will leave your hair looking and feeling fabulous. Dry, volumise and style in one Step"
The Wet & Dry brush features a tension control system with four straightening settings for different hair types, and also has an in-built detangling comb to make styling easy.
It also features ceramic plates and has an internal ionic generator to condition the hair to reduce stadic, and lave the hair smooth, shiny and free from frizz. It also has 3 heat/speed settings including a cool setting, and has 800W of drying power to make styling your hair quick and easy.
Using the Wet & Dry Brush is simple - you simply wash your hair, comb and detangle it, and apply any treatment products as you normally would. And here after you start using the Wet & Dry Brush, running it through small sections of your hair at a time until all of you hair is completely dry and straight. You can of course give it a quick blow dry prior to using the Brush to speed up the styling time. How simple is that. And because it blows as it straightens, it also adds volume to the hair at the same time, which is perfect for someone like me with long and heavy, and hence very flat hair.
Because my hair is so thick and long (just a few inches off my waist at this point, but with a hair appointment booked for a trim....), it does take some time to work through all my hair, and I'd say that it takes a good 20-25 minutes before it is completely dry and straight.
Overall, I am quite impressed with the VS Sassoon Wet & Dry Brush as it is cutting out a step in styling my hair - compared to straightening my hair when it is already dry, styling it from wet with the Wet & Dry Brush does naturally take longer, as it needs to be dried in the process too - but when comparing to how much time it would take to first blow dry it, and then straighten it, it is definitely saving time, and the result is great too. My hair is looking shiny and healthy too!
My only comment would be that the brush part could be a bit longer, and it would an even higher heat setting too, which would further speed up the styling of my long thick hair, but overall, I think this is a great hair styler and at just $62.95 it is very affordable too!
VS Sassoon Wet & Dry Straightening Brush - RRP: $62.95

PRODUCT REVIEW: VS SASSOON EVOKE LIGHTWEIGHT HAIR DRYER
Today I’d like to share with you a new limited edition hair dryer, the VS Sassoon Evoke Lightweight Hair Dryer;
What They Say:
VS Sassoon Evoke Lightweight Dryer is a lightweight hairdryer with 2000 watts of power for fast drying and easy styling. It also features three heat and speed settings, a volumising diffuser for natural curls, and a concentrator nozzle for precise styling. It comes with an extra-large cosmetic case for travel or storage purposes.
RRP: $39.95 – Available from Electrical Appliance Outlets
What I Say:
With quite long and thick hair, and a toddler running around my feet, I rely on a good hair dryer to dry my hair in a hurry, as my time is usually limited. And this Evoke hair dryer from VS Sassoon doesn’t fail to impress.
The hair dryer has a massive 2000 watts of power which means that it dries your locks super fast. And a quicker drying time, also means that your hair is exposed to heat for a shorter period, which essentially means less heat damage for your hair! It also has three different heat and speed settings so you choose the setting that best suits your hair, and also lower the temperature to protect your hair from heat damage.
The hair dryer also comes with a nozzle that makes it easy to direct the heat to specific sections of your hair, or it can be used with a brush when straightening your hair in sections. IT also comes with a large volumising diffuser, something I used to rely on way back in the 80s when I too had the typical perm – but these days, having straight hair, I didn’t think would be any use for my hair, until one day I decided to try to spray my hair with salt water spray before drying it with the diffuser, and was surprised to see how easy it was to create soft natural curls, even in my hair!
The bright pink hair dryer is so dry and funky and such a refreshing change from the usual black or silver hair dryers. And as the name suggests, it is quite light weight too, so it is easy to hold for a longer period of time if you need it, also thanks to the handle that has the perfect design to fit into even the smallest of hands.
I also love that it comes with a large, and I mean, its huge, cosmetic case, that you can you can use to not only store your hair dryer in, but also our other hair styling tools. At $39.95 this Evoke Hair Dryer from VS Sassoon is an absolute bargain!

PRODUCT REVIEW: VS SASSOON EXPERT TURBO IONIC CERAMIC DRYER
Today on the blog it is all about the VS Sassoon Expert Turbo Ionic Ceramic Dryer, here are my thoughts;
What They Say:
VS Sassoon Expert Turbo Ionic Ceramic Dryer is a ceramic hairdryer with 2200 watts of power. It also features ceramic tourmaline technology, six control settings, a turbo shot setting for an extra boost of power, and high ionic conditioning to reduce frizz. It is relatively quiet, and has concentrator to direct airflow and a diffuser for natural, voluminous curls. The dryer is suitable for all hair types.
RRP: $52.95 - Available from all leading electrical appliance retailers
What I Say:
This VS Sassoon Expert Turbo Ionic Ceramic Dryer is a very powerful with its 2200 Watts of power, which means that it dries my long thick locks even faster. Big tick from me, as I rarely have a lot of time to get myself ready with a toddler running around my feet, so in fact I often end up leaving my hair to dry naturally.
The Expert Turbo Ionic Ceramic Dryer features ionic conditioning as well as ceramic tourmaline technology, which not only means that frizz and static hair is minimised, as well as it enables the hair to absorb the heat more easily, and hence reduce heat damage.
And I have to say that while I don’t struggle with a lot of frizz, I did feel that my hair was lovely, soft and smooth after use. I also like that the hair dryer is so quiet, a lot quieter than my old hair dryer.
The hair dryer also comes with 6 control settings; three heat settings, two speed settings and a turbo power setting as well as cool shot so you can cool down and set your hair style.
The hair dryer also comes with a concentrator, which is handy if you want to direct hair to a specific section of your hair, or if you want to straighten your hair in sections using a hair brush. Compared to normal concentrators, it is a tad smaller, and personally I would have liked it to be a little bigger, but also keep in mind that I do have a lot of hair, so for shorter and lighter hair styles I’m sure it would be perfect!
There is also a diffuser included which perfect for creating natural curls or creating a little more volume to your hair.
It also comes with a removable filer, and I have to say that I love that idea, and I think that it is the first ever hair dryer that I’ve had to come with a removable one. But how good is it that you can easily clean out the filer and maintain the performance of the hair dryer!
The hair dryer comes in a stylish and modern sleek black and silver look that will look fantastic in any bathroom.

PRODUCT REVIEW: ABSOLUTEHEAT HAIR DRYER AND IPS MINI HAIR STRAIGHTENER
I have quite long hair and thick hair, so when I am in a hurry, or when Melbourne’s winter chill bites, I do rely on a hair dryer. Only my current one is so old, and while still in working order, I doubt it is no longer as efficient as it once was. So when I was asked to trial the AbsoluteHeat 2500 IPS Ultra Featherweight Hair Dryer and AbsoluteHeat IPS Mini Hair Straightener, happily accepted. Here are my thoughts;
What They Say:
AbsoluteHeat 2500 IPS Ultra Featherweight Hair Dryer: Astonishingly powerful yet exceptionally light, AbsoluteHeat’s Intelligent Professional Series Ultra Hair Dryer features advanced tourmaline-ionic technology which helps prevent static and frizz while simultaneously adding volume and shine. Packed with 1875 watts of power, this dryer creates enhanced ionic output and quicker drying time without increasing the body weight, making it one of the industry’s lightest hair dryers. Comes with a two year warranty. Available in Black and Pink
RRP: $69.95 – Available from I-Glamour
AbsoluteHeat IPS Mini Hair Straightener is technologically advanced to provide you with amazing results and performance. Perfect for travelling, the Mini features ceramic-coated plates and an ergonomic shape that allows you to straighten, curl, wave and flip your hair for a variety of salon professional styles. All which adds up to a rare and provocative blend of beauty and brains! Comes with a two year warranty. Available in Purple and Pink
RRP: $29.95 – Available from I-Glamour
What I Say:
AbsoluteHeat is an American based salon professional brand of salon quality styling tools that has just become available in Australia.
My old hair dryer is black. It’s from the era where that is all you could get, so I was very happy when I received the bright pink metallic hair dryer. Such a refreshing change. And while you may think that it may look a little girly and teenager-ish, but that is far from the case, it is very stylish looking. But of course, if you prefer a more classic colour, there is also a black version available.
The next thing I noticed was how light the hair dryer is, weighing a meagre 340 grams. Incredible. I am unsure how much my old one weighs, but I do know that by the time I am finished drying my hair, my arm is tired from holding it up in the air. So it was such a relief with the AbsoluteHeat weighing so little.
The AbsoluteHeat is also extremely efficient with its 1875 watts of power that cuts down drying time of my thick hair dramatically. Again, a very refreshing change. Both in terms of the time it takes to do it, but also because surely less time, means my hair is exposed less to the heat, which surely means less damage long term!
Next is the fact that is very quiet, even when it is set at the highest/fastest of the six airflow and temperature settings. I love the fact that you have the options of so many settings, especially after being used to just a few, although I have to admit that it takes a little getting used to all the different levels of power and heat. I also love that it has a cool shot button so I can give my hair a cool blast of air to finish off with.
The hair dryer has an advanced tourmaline-ionic technology, which is designed to help prevent static and frizz while adding volume and shine. The effect of this is naturally difficult it measure, but I certainly notice that my hair looks very shiny, plus after adding my usual hair serum/hair oil, that I have minimal frizz.
Moving on to the AbsoluteHeat IPS Mini Hair Straightener I have to admit that I usually use a hair straightener that is a lot larger in size, so I can get my long thick hair done more quickly. But this mini straightener actually has a surprising power, and is perfect as either a travel straightener, or alternatively to do ‘touch ups’ on the second day, or maybe for those girls who only straighten sections of their hair or have shorter hair styles.
The hair straightener has ceramic-coated plates and it quickly heats to 204°C, distributing heat evenly to reduce damage, and to leaves your hair with a nice shine and with less frizz. It has an ergonomic shape that makes it possible to not only straighten, but also add curls and waves to your hair. Like the hair dryer it comes in a funky metallic pink colour, as well as a trendy purple.

highly recommend that you check out the range from AbsoluteHeat – only problem will be which colour
to pick!

Product Review: Hairhouse Warehouse Savvy Nourishment Collection Box
I am very fond of my long hair, and spend a lot of time and money
maintaining its health. Using the right products makes all the difference - and
in Hairhouse Warehouse they stock a lot of my favourite haircare brands. A few
weeks ago they kindly sent me the *Savvy
Nourishment Collection, and here are my thoughts;
I have long wanted to try the Alfaparf Milano products, so this couldn’t have been better timing. And the products are just great! The shampoo lathers up easily and leaves the hair so soft, even before I add conditioner. And after I use the conditioner my hair just feels so silky soft and smooth. It is so easy to comb, and once dry, it is so shiny and healthy looking. I will definitely be buying these products again.
This Illuminating Cristali Liquid again comes at a perfect time, as the small size is just perfect to take with on our beach holiday. The liquid contains linseed extract to give the hair strength and shine and protect it from thermal treatment, while it leaves the hair silky soft and so incredibly shiny – and consequently so healthy too. And it can be used in both wet and dry hair. I love it!!
Alfaparf Milano Illuminating Hairspray
I do have a rather large hair dryer, but have to be honest and admit that I rarely use it, as currently being a stay-at-home mum I mostly just let my hair dry naturally. But then each time I go away – without a hair dryer, I always end up wishing that I’d had one with me – and as we are just about to go on a kind of forced holiday, where we’ll be staying in a beach house for almost three weeks before moving into our new house, this small travel hair dryer will be perfect to bring along.
Shower Comb
What do you think of this Nourishment Collection Box? Have
you tried any of these products? And have you ever bought one of these boxes?
What They Say:
This Savvy Nourishment
Collection contains the following:
- Alfaparf Milano Semi di Lino Diamond Shampoo, 250mL
- Alfaparf Milano Semi di Lino Conditioner, 250mL
- Alfaparf Milano Semi di Lino Illuminating Cristali Liquid, 16mL
- Alfaparf Milano Illuminating Hairspray, 300mL
- Gem Travel Hair Dryer
- Shower Comb
- $20 Salon Voucher
RRP: $29.95 (but valued at $145.85) – Available from
Hairhouse Warehouse
What I Say:
This box costs $29.95, but the contents is valued at
$145.85, which is amazing value. Even just getting the shampoo and conditioner
for that price is a good buy, and in top you get all the other goodies too!!!
I love it!!
The inclusion of this Illuminating Hairspray couldn’t have
come at a better time as I am just about to run out of my current one. With long
hair, I don’t use hairspray to keep a crazy hairstyle in place, as my hair is
simply too long and heavy for that, but it is good for keeping those annoying
flyaways around the face under control, including when I have my hair in a
pony. And I love that it leaves the hair with a such a nice healthy shine, yet
without making the hair feel stiff or tacky.
Everyone keeps telling me that I should comb my hair in the
shower while I’ve got conditioner or treatment in it – but as I have quite long
and thick hair it just takes me too long to do in the shower as I am usually in
such a hurry showering just before my husband has to leave to go to work in the
mornings. So I am not sure I will get much use from this one, just you just
never know…
$20 Salon Voucher
This voucher entitles you to get $20 off any salon service
of $100.00 or more. But as I already have a very good hairdresser that I’ve been
seeing for over a decade, I am not likely to be using this voucher, so I might
pass it on to a friend.
All in all, I really think this box is amazing, it is well
worth the price, and the products included are fantastic too, so I think it is
well worth getting one – or several each time Hairhouse Warehouse brings these
type of boxes out. The only things in the box I wont be using is the comb and the voucher, but in turn I've been introduced to a new brand, that I will definitely be back to Hairhouse Warehouse to repurchase once I've finished up these products.
And the good thing is that the boxes vary each time and there are always several different ones to choose from so you always find one with paroduct to suit your hair. I already look forward to the next box Hairhouse Warehouse brings out!
