Product Review: Estee Lauder Pure Color Cheek Rush in colour Techno Jam

A short while ago, I told you about Estee Lauder launching Pure Color Cello Shots, a collection of soft gels and water-light finishes by Estée Lauder and Creative Makeup Director for Estée Lauder, Tom Pecheux, which washes lips and illuminates cheeks with a subtle glow of fresh colour for a look of radiant, effervescent beauty. Here are my thoughts on the *Estee Lauder Pure Color Cheek Rush;

What They Say:
"Blush with a rush of cellophane-sheer gel colour. So unique, your cheeks have never blushed liked this before. Sheer, buildable, water-light gel. Simply pump sparingly on fingertips, then blend. In 4 irresistible see-through shades; Hot Fuse, Pink Patent, X-Pose Rose, and Techno Jam."

RRP: $60 – Available from all Estée Lauder counters nationwide and Estee Lauder online

What I Say:

As you may know, I absolutely love Este Lauder products, as you can always trust their products to be of high quality and right on trend. I have recently reviewed the Pure Color Lipstick and the Pure Color Lipgloss so I was looking forward to trying the new Pure Color Cheek Rush.
"This season, I’ve been working a lot with what I call acqua color. It’s a gentle, watery look with just a touch of bright, vibrant color."  - TomPecheux

The Pure Color Cheek Rush is a part of the new Pure Color Cello Shot Collection, and it is designed to brighten and excite, and is a lightweight, innovative, transparent gel that provides cheeks with a pop of sheer, juicy colour for a fresh-faced look. Its sensational water-based formula is cool to the touch and leaves cheeks feeling hydrated through an infusion of natural extracts and moisturising ingredients.

Pure Color Cheek Rush is packaged in a little bottle which is only marginally taller and thicker than a lipstick. Half the bottle is shade-matched to the colour of the actual colour of the blush, and it has a gold lid and the gold collar with the Estée Lauder logo. Taking off the lid reveals a little pump, which I really like as I can dispense just the amount of blush I need.

The colour-matched pump bottle.

I tried the colour Techno Jam, and in spite of it looking very dark cerise colour in the packaging, and when you pump it out, it is a very wearable shade.

The consistency of the blush is exactly as described, a lightweight water-based gel, neither runny or thick. It blends extremely well into the skin, without being blotchy or leaving behind any greasy residue. I used my fingers to blend the product into your cheeks, and it is very easy, to achieve a natural look, as well as the colour can easily be built up as desired. And as it is so highly pigmented only a few tiny drops are needed.

Extremely concentrated so
only a little is needed.

Just be aware that it will temporarily stain the fingertips as you can see on the image. You can also see  where I left the small dot of the blusher on the top of my hand for just the few seconds while I took the photo, and I was left with a very noticeable pink mark afterwards, that didn’t budge even thought I washed my hands with soap several times. Consequently, you may like to use a small stippling brush or other brush blush – I did try this, but still preferred to use my fingers, even in spite of the staining. So the best advice is really to work fast when you blend this into your cheeks, and instantly wash your hands afterwards!

Stained fingertips

The blended cheek rush - and the darker stained spot
where I left the small dot of blush while taking the picture above!

And the Cheek Rush really leaves the cheeks with a nice pop of sheer colour, for a fresh-faced look with ‘pinched cheeks’, which lasts well throughout the day – in fact, it lasted on my cheeks for a full day (and a rainy one too!), looking fresh and glowing, without fading.

I didn’t think I would like this Cheek Rush blush, but I so love it. It gives such a natural look, and unlike so many other cheek tints that I’ve tried it really does last all day. At $60 it is not exactly cheap, but as it is so concentrated and you use so little each time, I expect it to last forever. My only negative is that because of the solid coloured bottle you cannot see when you’re about to run out product, but that is certainly not enough to stop me wanting more of these Cheek Rush products, I already have a few of the other colours on my wish list!!
